Everything Wrong With The "Current" State of Animation - The Complete Series (REUPLOAD)

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 28 ม.ค. 2024
- These were originally three videos I made back in early 2023, when I was deep into my "animation is cinema/Disney bad" phase, a phase that I am heavily embarrassed about in retrospect.
I acknowledge that I come off as very whiny and pretentious in this video (Especially in the latter half of the video where I talk about how "DiSnEy RuInEd AnImAtIoN!!!!!!!"), and as a result I don't consider these videos to be very good, not do I consider them to be representative of my work.
Also, because these videos were made in early 2023, they contain topics that might be outdated now in 2024. This video will not cover more recent animation topics like Skibidi Toilet or Hazbin Hotel or anything like that.
Again, not too sure why you’re blaming Walt for the downfall of animation.
The reason for the downfall of animations public image was thanks to parent groups in the 60s and 70s gutting the spirit out of animation for a long time.
Then in the 80s the toy based commercial disguised as cartoons only worsened the problem.
In fact Disney (and by extension the Simpsons) pulled animation out of the slump it was in. Without the Disney renaissance animation wouldn’t be the same that it is today. Also Pixar was funded and distributed by Disney, so yeah without Disney Toy Story wouldn’t exist, and subsequent the golden age of Pixar wouldn’t exist.
Again, Disney didn’t ruin the industry, in fact Disney (well before 2020) was touted as being the highest standard of animated movies for the longest time.
I believe the state of modern animation is a bit turbulent. Animation studios like Dreamworks and Sony are producing top notch. Disney made Wish and Strange world so you know how that goes.
With Paramount and Pixar falling in the middle, not great but not terrible as of late.
Yeah, but that's where my company will come in!
@@jadstudiosofficial Don’t you dare think about stealing my thunder.
Its mostly capitalism and consumerism that ruined animation

Illumination is making an alternative division of the company called Moonlight. It's headed by Mike Moon(House of Mouse) and it plans to explore animation outside of the family-friendly genre.
I initially thought it was tv cartoons and their restrictions from the 60s to the 80s that caused this.
they were, you were right on the money. That and the Hays Code from the 20th century that restricted what could be shown in movies cemented that. Early on, before that, most animated stuff was for adults
Vhs Tapes, dvds, recordings, and Sailing the Seven seas for the win !
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You said it!
0:17 No Disney isn't. Walt Disney did alot for animation. Snow White was the first feature-length animated film. At first people thought it was a crazy idea because nobody would want to watch cartoons for that long and it was a hit. Cartoons started being aimed more at children in the 60's. If anything Hanna Barbera and Filmation pushed the stereotype that animation is just for kids. The shows were made on the cheap out of necessity and a handful of them were good. In the 80's a bunch of shows were made to sell toys ( not that that makes a show automatically bad. I know Marvel movies are made to make money and I can still enjoy them.) You can argue HB and Filmation did a lot for animation too. Alot of Filmations output didn't age well though.
It’s mostly capitalism
Capitalism is what’s wrong with animation ever since the 50s or 60s
@@JonathanHeydh-vy4ywcapitalism? I don’t know what that has to do with animation
Will it’s mostly the industry and Hollywood @@scottriddell3514
Rocky and Bullwinkle Looney tunes was made by an actual cartoonist Hanna barbera late 60s wanting to copy off filmation and make everything for little kids. We got a bunch of some of the ugliest and most annoying kid shows ever made like get along gang he man ugly semi realistic poorly drawn toy commercials that are obnoxious as f*** with bad dialogue . I would rather watch Johnny test do you think Johnny test sucks try watching get along gang without wanting to shoot yourself
I am feeling bad for American animation nowadays thanks to the worst TV show in history named Velma, a disgrace to the cartoons
What's da fuc you taking about TV animation is always been garbage for kids cartoons you can blame Hanna-Barbera
My one problem is that I feel the animaniacs show is justified since it wasn’t necessarily a revival as it literally in the show acknowledges that it’s a dumb idea and jokes about it, so I don’t find it offensive but everything else sucks,
these were the videos that got me to subscribe to your channel
The Disney Renaissance is arguably still the Walt Disney Company's most iconic animation era to date. Those films didn't contribute to the negative trends that came after just because plenty of studios tried to recreate their success with poor imitations. They set a new standard, and they set the bar high. Not even Disney themselves have ever managed to top it since, in my opinion. Frozen, Zootopia, Moana, and Encanto are great movies, but they're not better than The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, or The Lion King.
But the Disney renaissance was also a curse too
@@edwardsaldana2534 Elaborate
I wish that animation will be revived back.......
Me too.
This world is a bad place for media sometimes and I worship animation and I watch a movie like this every day and I’ve made a title that represents Jesus Christ in the animation verse and I’m being quite serious about making it. If god had a alien/alternative name I’d call him ialfec mourtz not Jesus Christ. A imitation of life and death alike! And I also believe there are people in this world who care about animation because they may have grown up with them.
Besides the characters not cussing and scrapping the original ending , Turning Red isn't that bad of a movie.
I liked Turning Red too, apart from playing it too safe with the presented mature themes.
29:44 They’re definitely gonna replace it with either
“…and there is no Santa Claus!..”
or “…and there is no Mickey Mouse!…”
There is NO King of England.
Why Did you Delete the Part Were you said "Say Sorry To These 4 Shows"

Okay, don’t wanna start anything, but what is the point of this comment?
25:16 Also in 2019 Disney had a lot of other movies like Avengers 4 Spider Man Far From Home Toy Story 4 and Frozen II.

I have my reservations with this trend, but Rugrats 2021 shouldn’t be scapegoated so much for why we don’t see many original ideas anymore. There was a demand for a reboot in the 2010s, or a special of some kind because there was a strong affinity for the show and we wanted to see how a modern take would look like in today’s times.
The Boom Comics showed that the concept could be reworked, and when there was speculation about it, I remember people wanting one to be announced.
The reboot has a clean slate and hits the reset button so it’s not like it’s doing more of what it’s done before. It isn’t Rugrats fault that original ideas are thrown to the wayside. This trend is happening thanks to the streaming boom and the overturning of the Paramount Decree. And happened like a year after the Rugrats reboot was in development.
As mlk once said the evils of capitalism are as real as the evils of militarism and racism. The problems of racial injustice and economic injustice cannot be solved without a radical redistribution of political and economic power”
Reboot means to resist or restart a computer and I know that movies and cartoons and tv shows are not computers and that term was benn butchered by the mainstream media and Hollywood and is becoming more of a buzzword
Hollywood is mostly greedy and corrupt and it’s mostly capitalism and neoliberalism
By today’s times you mean that of western societies
34:12 What about TMNT Mutant Mayhem and Entergalactic?
Well, I do agree with this because like I know we have a dull animation.
@Zerex You read my mind with this video.
Since 2020 it was announced that paramount is doing an animated horror adaptation of the stray dogs' comic so there is that, but nothing has come out ever since that announcement.
Oh please animation is still amazing you got a problem with that
Will I am a socialist and I say capitalism and consumerism ruined animation

Walt Disney 0:17 I blame Hanna barbera dic filmation blame Saturday morning cartoons
Gosh, what have they done... We need to have a plan income something bigger for disney. If anyone of you must created a better animated disney for new characters are interacted controlling their society on virtues and morality.
28:20 Yeah imagine a live-action version of Shrek. 😄😆😅😂
Is there a way I can talk with Zerex?
actually walt disney helped create the animation industry. I don't think I would blame him. I would blame the people who is now running his company. also the reason animation in the states has declined because of woke and hollywood wants to use that as their business model now why do you think indie animation is booming in popularity? People want fresh new ideas from animators who are not working under studio hacks.
You have problems
Also internet and tv don,t mix
What happened to the original videos?
don't forget about arcane.
I miss They original cartoons,Movies & Video game

Personally I'm more disappointed with shows that uses to be loved like Family Guy and American Dad than Velma.
Speaking like a true Anglo American
Good riddance! Looks like Indie Animations left, and even that still not enough.
Yeah I say fuck Hollywood and fuck capitalism
Walt Disney was a crappy person, and treated his animators unfairly; yes. But he didn’t push the whole “animation is for children” stereotype; if anything, he was very ambitious and wanted animation to be validated along with other visual art forms; which is why the aesthetics of his work are very artistic, even if the storylines aren’t as complex or interesting as the ones we get nowadays. As much as I dislike Walt and his ideals and morals, I can’t blame him for the current state of animation.
I can, though, blame Bob Iger and the other current Disney CEOs that have put quantity over quality and released the most empty and half-Arsed ideas for the sake of money; as well as mediocre studios like Illumination, that demonstrated that you can sell the most mind-numbing and boring children’s “movies” and parents will pay for them to get 90 minutes of peace and quiet instead of… parenting. Same applies to crap like Cocomelon or Peppa pig and lowest-common denominator garbage that brings in numbers regardless of quality.
