Honestly I have to agree with you about this movie. They had such great concepts when they were first making the movie, and then just completely changed everything and deprived it of anything original. The king never really felt like a threat due to how the citizens seemed comfortable, Asha had nothing unique about her. It was A LOT of tell don’t show, literally telling the audience that Asha was kind instead of showing her kindness. Only 2 of the 7 dwarfs did or said anything so they were a waste, and the goat was just annoying.
Y'know, it's kinda poetic how this movie has failed, with that "Be Careful What You Wish For" on the poster and the movie's premise. We wished for a good return-to-form film with a classic villain, the wish wasn't granted, and the movie will be forgotten in the future.
Mother gothel was the last true villain and the Princess and the frog was the last hand drawn animation we got and that was 15 years ago... disney hasn't been good in many years. I'm kind of over disney now disney plus is losing money. If it wasn't for their old movies I wouldn't even have disney plus.
The thing that frustrated me most about Wish is that the concept art is gorgeous and the earlier ideas were so interesting. I truly believe this could have been one of their greatest movies if Disney corporate would have let Disney creative stick to the original ideas. I would like to see a Wish 2, but only because I’m hoping they will be able to recycle some of their early concepts. I’m not holding my breath though.
The crazy thing about the animation is that Disney has the perfect 2D and 3D animation that they could use. They literally used it for the short film Paperman.
I think there were so many box office flops this year because theaters are more expensive these days and most films are going to streaming so people are more inclined to spend their money and time carefully.
Tbh I would like to see you talk about turning red because Most people that have actually watched it without know how bad the online rep was loved it. It's another amazing story trauma, that trauma can effect you even if you don't think it will
Yeah, I thought I wouldn't like Turning Red based on what people said about it, but I enjoyed it a lot! Only the climax was bad imo, but I related to the main character and saw my middle school self in her.
Disney should’ve kept the concept art of WISH as its original film for their 100th anniversary. Because I’ve seen the art style of it looks amazing and interesting, not to mention that in the original design Magnifico and his wife were supposedly be Disney first villain couple. However, the people behind the film thought that the villain couple wouldn’t work and less interesting for their target audience. It’s the same thing with Asha’s love interest which was also in the concept art, where asha met the star-boy who resembles Jack Frost. But of course Disney decided to play it safe instead of taking risks. That’s why WISH is flopped in the box office.

I thought animation studios make trades for experience artists. Like NBA who trade their players into different teams. If Disney wanted to catch a new style of animation why didn't they hire ppl from Sony or DreamWorks? That would save more time and more money

Shame, Because there’s actually a lot to like about it: Its representation of all things Disney, And not just it’s animated features but frankly everything throughout Disney in general :-) It’s story, concept, which is very relatable on a thematic level, with its sense of realism and how it portrays how are you and I know everyone in someway or another feels, including magnifico who is a return to form but in a new way for Disney villain, Acting like a person in our own world would react if they were like that with a sense of charisma and villainous charm nonetheless :-) Asha as a main character as well; Ironically, I initially did not like her that much at the beginning of the movie, but as it went on and she found her footing, I grew to really like her and not only can appreciate that again also relate to her as well :-) I absolutely love the soundtrack, especially the main song this wish, which may very well be my favourite Disney song of all time! :-) and I must also say, that the whole third act might also be one of my favourite third acts of any movie on how everything all came together, everyone with all their moments, the great entertainment and conceptual value, including the overall defeat and resolution of the villain that literally feels me with inspiration and satisfaction, breathtakingly blowing me away and just again leaving me overall satisfied with the whole thing! :-) Again I cannot recommend enough! :-)

Wish is literally so awesome! The songs are so Damm good! The characters are pretty cool! I love how over the top Magnífico is, he was really scary! I love all the tributes to past Disney movies, like Asha’s friends being like the 7 dwarfs, I think her friends are so fun! Just a great movie all around.

Disney’s main concern right now is quantity and making money. Not quality and it’s really showing.

I don’t have Disney plus. I bought all of the Disney movies that I want to watch on Blue-Ray.
I wish they went further with the watercolor art style, it is barely noticeable.
