Disney doesn't hate animation so much as they've realized they're not the head of the game anymore. They're creatively bankrupt and while they have all the money in the world, they're too cheap to pay for top of the line animators and writers to create anything new or interesting.
Disney used to be led by creativity, but now it is only led by the bottom line, which is the worst way to make movies, and, ironically, the worst way to make money.

Live action is easier, especially if you already have the film pre-visualed via the original film and pre-written. Which means they don't have to pay for screenwriters or storyboard artists.

The sad thing about Disney's three animated movies from 2022 is that the only good one is the one that didn't get a theatrical release.

I've been hating Disney since 2013-ish (that's right, I was ahead of the curve! Suck on that, general populace!) and it stemmed from Disney Channel shafting their animated shows/cancelling them prematurely in favor of that low-brow, low-budget sitcom trash that used to dominate the network like a blemish. Didn't help that Disney Infinity was the first time the company did a "LOOK AT HOW MUCH WE OWN" flex, not to mention leeching off trendy games at the time like LBP, Minecraft, and Skylanders for concepts. The industry powerhouse that long ago was a name synonymous with quality entertainment stoop to such lows confused me, especially with the legacy and potential they could reach.
In the years to follow, it's become more apparent that the big suits at the House of Mouse have realized they became to big to fail, especially with buying pretty much any competition or burgeoning new IP only to either barely do anything with them in the case of Muppets, Oswald and most Lucasfilm projects such as Willow, or run them to the ground like Marvel or Star Wars. There are still hints of brilliance and innovation that occasionally spurt out from the growing mass of Disney's shapeless form, but Walt's vision has long since died, and yet Disney still parades this corpse around like nothing changed.

With the new movies being released, such as Wish and Elemental, I have no real desire to go and watch them. Elemental seems generic and from the things I’ve seen, Wish’s Princess design looks like all the other Princesses.
Disney’s animation style is very similar throughout the years, big eyes and super round faces (I don’t know if that’s a good enough description) but compared to Dreamworks there isn’t much variety. The princesses could be labeled as living in the same universe because of their design and their characteristics (even Zootopia has this going for it). But the audience can automatically tell the different between something like HTTYD and Kung Fu Panda. Even Dreamworks’ less quality movies have their own style.
You make really good points, especially about Illumination. I didn’t think of it how Disney is declining harder than Illumination ever has. And with the Mario Movie I feel like room for improvement could be right around the corner which can’t be said for our favorite mouse and friends.

Nobody should disagree on you with this, sure maybe those braindead nostalgia consumers would, but we have brains. Im so glad that im seeing more videos like this where they are almost spreading the message of how much of a dumpster fire Disney is. Should I also mention that during (or before) Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Moana live action announcements, they LITERALLY cancelled The Owl House, an animated show that had GOOD RECEPTION, GOOD REPRESENTATION OF DIVERSITY, and ACTUAL GOOD ANIMATION, yet they never gave it further production for further seasons all because they literally admitted that TOH “didn’t fit their brand”. This wasn’t the first time this happened to an animated show, this also happened to Gravity Falls as well, which fit the same exact good traits as The Owl House, yet Disney just had to cancel it for further seasons. Disney is just ridiculous, and to be honest, I would actually rather watch movies from Illumination or Dreamworks than Disney, sure Illumination has movies that have mid reception, but at least they have actual animation that is FULL of LIFE and COLOURS. Disney on the other hand would probably continue their stupid live action shit knowing their reputation right now. Sometimes I tell myself that Disney would sometime stop with their live action, but now I just doubt that, and it scares me how possible it is that they are just gonna keep continuing with live action all because of their braindead executives and braindead consumers.

Japanese TV shows have been good at adapting comics, like Chihayafuru and Nodame to name a few. What made the adaptation good is the love for the source materials and being able to capture the essence of what made the original good.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU 100% the live-action Moana remake kind of reminds me of when Rare tried to make a sequel to Conker but instead we got a remake in 2005 under Microsoft when the original game was released in 2001 4 YEARS AFTER THE ORIGNAL GAME WAS RELEASED WITH NINTENDO!!! and you know they did it? not just because the original sold poorly but because they didn't care about the IP most likely due to its adult content and it's been proven due to the info and details of the sequel that was released it had pure HEART, SOUL, SWEAT, AND TEARS!!! as well as creativity and passion.
but nope Microsoft threw it out the window because of its content plus the fact that Rare wanted to release an uncensored remake to see how audiences would react which would've been positive but Microsoft didn't allow it for some dumb reason so they went with a fully more censored remake with the title Conker Live and Reloaded which got ok to negative reviews due to its heavy censorship and troubled mechanic gameplay
Also, I have a better idea I think that Disney should release an original film and then wait for around 10 to 15 years and from there they can do an animated remake of previous live-action films like a wrinkle in Time and the Nutcracker and the Four Realms and fix and tweak some plot elements that didn't work in the original live action. I think that this route could be so much better because A these films get a second chance at life and B we get to see a better version of them with animation.

The point still stands that they don't care about them. And because they don't care about them, they are allowed to do some amazing stuff.
You can see that they don't care about their animated proberty because they don't put any marketing into it, no advertisments anywhere. They also cancell stuff on the spot with a huge fanbase like Ducktales 2017 or The Owl House, because ??? two Karens were upset? They call the fans racist for having critisim about live action Ariel but shut down The Owl House because some actual bigots complained and ignore the giant fanbase.
The amazing stuff the writers can do because the big guys don't care about them, is that they can put actual emotions into their work without the 'Disney doesn't want to look like it's racist, sexist or any other -ist' - Checklist. And the Checklist is just full of stereotypes and hate inducing stuff, the staff has to incorporate into every episode if they want to or not.
      (On the list are:
      - the queer character, that isn't allowed to have any love/friendship story and is only mean;
      - the women that are mean to the men because they are better than them,
      - the dark skinned charackters that are mean to white charackters and the white charackters need to apologize for everythink they do and that 5% of american citizens from 100years ago did...
being mean means being strong. So everyone is mean and doesn't do things because it's the right thing to do but because they need to because they are stronger than anyone else. The characters can't have a nice time with their friends because they always need to be reminded that someone of another group is oppressing them.
I am glad that the big Disney Guys don't care about their original animated projects and that they are spared from the segregation hype train that is going around right now.)

There could be good in the live action movies. But they have to actual put care and work into them and not mass produce them so that we have a "new" movie every two month.
I'm one of the few fans of Tim Burtons "Alice in Wonderland". I think the movie did a great job with his tone, story and usage of CGI. The tone is darker because Alice herself lost her childlike outlook on the world. The Story fits as a Sequel to the original animated one because Alice was a child and couldn't process all the f***ed up stuff that was going on around her so in her perspective it was more of an (animated) adventure dream. And the CGI actually fits because the unreal feeling is what makes you still wonder if this is actually real or not.
Maleficent, I wasn't interested in it but I could see how adapting a NEW sleeping beauty story into live action is a well enough idea. The sleeping beauty story is still in it like Romeo and Juliet is in Gnomeo and Juliet.
Cruelle. This is just an original. Except for the names there is nothing that has anythink to do with the existing franchise. Call her Eve/Evelin and boom a great original movie is born with one or two easter eggs to the disney franchises.
Beauty and the Beast / Aladdin, are good enough. They tell the existing story with real humans, which are the main focus of the original story and don't do anythink really talkworthy.
With Pinocchio they missed so much opportunity. It would be perfect to mix Real humans, CGI and practical effects to show what cinema could do but they rushed it and we get no practical effects in a movie about puppets.
Ariel has so much fantastical elements that are supposed to be fantastical to us but real to the in-universe characters, that it's really hard to do purely with CGI and rushed like this right after Pinocchio and 4 new Reboots in the making. (An Enchanted/Spongebob approche could have been interesting, were the underwaterworld would be Animated because of mermaid magic and the real magicless human world could be live action and shown the beauty of both worlds...)
Nightmare before Christmas, I would be glad to have Tim Burton and Johnny Depp work on it wouldn't it be completly sure to be a rushed CGI fest.
Moana, okay they want to catch The Rock while he is still camera fit but it will be a rushed CGI fest. Nothing new, nothing breath taking in visuals or Special Effects.
Peter and Wendy. There are a dozent versions of Peter Pan and a rushed CGI version isn't going to be anyones favorite.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame; same, The Gargoyles were annoying and silly enough in the original, now they can even look more out of place. 2 years is not enough to adapt one of the most gorgeous movies to be visiual pleasing enough.
