I saw this comment before that part of the vid came up... holy shit you weren't kidding. That tiny ass salad was probably... 70 calories? Just a tablespoon of olive oil is 120 calories, but that looked like 5+... This wacko just added a bigmac's worth of calories to a fucking 70 calorie tiny ass salad. Fuck me. "Health Oils" Lol...
I was trying to be generous as possible, because I know cherry tomatoes are still technically a fruit and contain a fair amount of sugar.... because even knowingly overestimating the caloric content, that amount of olive oil is still absolutely egregious. But once I read your reply, I immediately thought your estimate would be much more accurate... so I looked at the picture again, and realized that there's only 4 cherry tomatoes even there to begin with... so I figured I would actually look up myself! - 1 Single cherry tomato is roughly 9-13 grams. - 50 grams of "Earthbound Farm, Tomatoes, Cherry, Red, Fresh, Organic" is 8.82 calories according to Chronometer - That measly amount of lettuce might not even be a single calorie, no more than 3 with the most generous of estimates. There's a actually a strong likelihood that salad wasn't even 10 calories given variation of sweetness within cherry tomatoes. Given the way she poured that olive oil, with such a damn thick stream, that've might have been the equivalent overfilling a single tablespoon per second within at least the first 3-4 seconds, so on average it's probably at least a tablespoon a second. Scarily enough, you don't even see when she finally stops pouring, you can just see when she's starts tapering off. So at 120cals per tablespoon, given how long she poured... she may have poured 750 calories total or possibly much much more. Even the most conservative estimates, about 70% of a tablespoon per second on average for about 7+ seconds ends up giving you nearly 600 calories. Although this is fundamentally something extremely difficult to visually estimate when being off by a single gram is about 9calories. *ONE GRAM = 8.9 CALORIES* (A reference for americans.. a single american penny is 2.5 grams.) What's even more hilarious, is that the entire salad itself is roughly the same amount of calories of just a single GRAM of olive oil... she's essentially pouring ONE HUNDRED times the calories of the salad itself on top of it with just the fucking dressing. There's also pretty much no fucking nutrition within olive oil either, if she's going to recommend pouring oil on a salad she should at least be recommending something like flax oil that actually has same genuine benefit to it. Olive oil is by far the most overrated oil next to coconut. Although the smartest thing to do in terms of adding fat to a salad, is to add some seeds/nuts or avocado because not only is it far more nutritious. It's also far more difficult to to completely overestimate how much calories you're adding to the salad like the women who made the video obviously did so egregiously. Refined oils are extremely calorically dense, far more calorically dense than pretty much anything else you will be adding to your diet. They're something that ought to be extremely limited or almost entirely avoid as much as possible of you are at all concerned about your weight. God this video really is terrible. I really hope no one actually emulates almost anything in this terrible video. There's honestly so much wrong with it that I could write an essay about each piece of advice, but this salad part of it is almost certainly the worst part... No wonder why western societies are so damn obese and sick.
The salad was probably more along the lines of 30 cals youre being very generous. Oils aren't actually healthy. They're refined and just as sugar is bad they're bad. They cause sludge blood which is really really bad and basically trashes your circulatory system for a few hours.
There are other plant foods with less iron than spinach, but with a higher availability of it - the amount of oxalic acid decides the amount that can actually be absorbed. Although spinach contain more iron than e.g. turnip greens (about twice the amount), you would actually be able to absorb more from the turnip greens in total! (It is true that vitamin C helps, though. :) )
Christopher Michael when I went on living on my own I had a tough time clicking so I did what Manny do eat fast food and I can tell you it's fucks you up in manny levels it's like slowly poisoning yourself
wow, these combinations *totally* don't look appalling. SPINACH AND STRAWBERRIES!? WHAT would that taste like!? *gags edit: also, I really don't think that's a DRIZZLE of oil. more like a gallon.
Tip! Ingredients : spinach, Strawberries, Small thin slices of cheese , and toothpicks. take a toothpick and place a cut strawberry, slice of cheese, and Spinach on it then make as much as you want
3:00 or you could eat the spinach with some spinach lol. It has tons of vitamin A. Yeah I love sweet potatoes too theyre healthy I'll take it back lol!
I am a physician and while some of this works the rest of it is bosh. many raw vegetables have many of their nutrients highly increased by cooking them such as carrots and tomatoes and many others. and nobody should ever use turmeric and black pepper together before checking with their physician.
Oh and eating meat really? Dude I thought it was actual health advice. Oil is by nature fat. So you are telling me to drizzle my salad so I can get fatter. Then you tell me you should pair meat with rosemary when meat is a carcinogen. That's in the same category as cigarettes
Marlon Moncrieffe unless you are stating facts and not opinions no we don't. I hate ignorance just as much as stupid people that don't want to get educated.
That's not a drizzle of oil, that's getting ready to deep fry your salad.

Not even 70 calories! It was just lettuce and tomato.
Before the dressing: ~20 cal
After 'drizzle' of oil: ~400cal

You can put lemon juice on spinach that has way more vitamin C than strawberries
i was wondering why the comments say that they put too much oil but then when i actually saw it i was shocked too
Damn, this is some awesome tech!
“It’s not about what you eat”
Mind: It’s about who you eat
Interesting food facts to know. I wonder how accurate it is? Something to think about it for the future.

I always use lemons or limes (vitamin c content) to give my salad a taste, then put some oil then salt it. I never got how people eat salad so plain.
have you heard of salad dressing
You don't want a lot of iron, which is why it's good to eat calcium rich foods with meat.
