Love this 46 normal look! Here are a few adjustments that I went over:
Spread Line: "LS up"
Crash Line Down: "RS down"
QB Contain: "LT" - "RB"
Turn your purples to clouds: "Y" - "Down on RS"
Spotlight a receiver: "Y" - "A" - "Receiver's Icon" - "A"
Shade receivers: "Y" - "Left or Right on RS"

Thanks for this video, I have been building D schemes of this formation just because of your advice and its made me a better player. Granted , don't expect for it to work like magic right away. It needs adjustments on the reads but once its masterd its headaches for opponents. I'm no pro nor the best player but definetly a must for your lab time.

I've been running this defense since Madden 25 and doing every adjustment you do on here except no qb contain, base align, blitz both outside LBs and show blitz gets instant pressure, especially if you wait to show blitz and time it right before the snap so the defenders get a running start, can do it from fire blitz also
Gezz, I just pretty much blitz all the time in madden. Force hurried throws and stop the run. I'll at times just rush 3 to 4 guys and drop men back into coverage.
this shit still works.. even after the patch I just played 2 opponents. didn't spam this play the whole time but I did use it quiet often . first game I won 35-10 and the second game I won 37-7. 6 interceptions in 2 games lmao ..GOOD SHIT MY MAN! #subbed
this is the exact defense i use but thanks for the additional tips (spotlight receiver and qb contain ) my opponets avg like 8 points lol

Get Obi Melifonwu 68 ovr silver FS. He's 6'4 with 86 speed, 89 acc, 89 jump. Sub him in at your 3rd CB spot on your depth chart. He's a better user than Barr at the moment in my opinion.

I feel like the toughest defense in mut is 46 norm or 4-4 split cover 3 hard flat with their dline being so good that they get in before a corner can get open
I use a scheme similar to this in my CFM on just about all but 3rd down or when the CPU is passing a lot like 2 minute defense when they’re down. I user the DE and spy the QB or play the short hitch and in routes. 4.9 average yards per play on almost 1600 plays now. 5th season in CFM.
I've been playing MUT All Pro 1st String and it takes some getting use to. I have a User Based Defense thats 80 OVR. I have went 13-2 so far using this scheme

This has never been an OP defense until this year with new pass blocking. Cover 2 invert out of 46 normal was the closest we've been to this. LMAO.
How do you quickly shade the outside corners to hard flat without having to hold b and going to each outside corner individually?

"Y" then "Right" on the right stick to shade outside ---- "Y" then "Down" on the right stick to make hard flats ;)
I can't put my guys on cloud flats only hard flats any idea why
Try attacking this with an Out-curl or comeback-curl concept. The cloud flat will be forced into playing one of the routes and will usually take the decoy curl, especially if the receiver is being spotlighted. Throw in an underneath crossing route to occupy the user. Your opponent should be forced to abandon the scheme or resort to some complicated man adjustments. If they ever start manning the outside receiver without a Cover 2 deep safety zone, start calling plays with a double move for a 1 play TD.
Of course, from a defensive perspective you cannot ever run the same defense twice in a row. I may call the same play but the playart is gonna be so different.
Any deep sideline routes would be the weakness of your defense. 10 yard In route would also be a weakness since you have both of your middle linebackers on hook to curl coverage.
Michael Sutherland we used the middle of the field. This defense has no weakness other than quick out routes

I like them a lot more now... still use clouds against most players but against good guys, you need a purple on the wide side ALWAYS

Good info id appreciate if you slow it down though just so we can take it in easier.
I prefer using defenses that give me flexibility with audibles.. U cant change to a 4-3 if you use 4-6 which is odd given its same personel, so i dont use 4'6 anymore its useless and really weak against corners and flats

C4 tough this year but I'm not about to switch to a 3-4... I love love love 46... Might try to mix in some nickel cover 4 though
+TT23 - Madden 18 Ultimate Team you could come out in cover 2 and make a bunch of adjustments to get a cover 4. It's be a pain at first but it's not too bad after you get used to it.

The 4-6 is so much more versatile than this and I cover 4 and 5 receiver sets with 3 linebackers but will be trying this speed set
gradeABigC this was uploaded 10 months ago haha. Yes, with 95 speed, 91+ zone Linebackers in MUT I recommend just running 43 personnel. This was released 2 weeks into madden 18... the game has changed a lot since then.

Sadly, none... MAYBE when elite books drop there will be one but as of now it's only certain 4-3 books :(

I only used this against Jumbo... locked it up if you could user the cover three beaters. C2 Invert was farrrr better last year though... this year it's awful

I've been running 46 normal for a while this year, and the main thing that torches me are bench routes and HB wheel, and every time I get out of 46 to cover those routes they either gash me on the ground or roll out of the pocket.
HB wheel is a killer without crossman this year. Honestly kills me too

Dasani run against hb wheel I run 4-6 base cover 3 and click the coverage to underneath and have the end play man on the tight end and I user the weak side lb to play hooks then shoot to the flats to defend the rb....its literally that simple

Hey TT23 I have a question- if I'm playing someone with a tyrod Taylor or some scrambling QB is it smart or no by putting a QB spy on a defense tackle. Btw I'm glad you tell what button is to do for adjustments 😀😀
Of course! I just prefer a 4 man rush... if someone really loves to spam scrambling, a QB spy is a good idea
OMG Lava Storm clicking the R3 stick makes the spy rush the QB as well. So just wait till the QB rushes to the outside, away from the O-Line and then just send the Spy. I shut down Tyrod consistently

Hes doing way to much on defense and probably loses more games than he wins with all the manning up and bad usering. His base set up is nice and i like spotlighting the slot too but leave ur guys in coverage and trust them to make their plays.
I user the middle constantly but if you switch up ur looks and take away their 1 and 2 reads you will win more. I usually spotlight tight end on 2wr sets and spotlight slot in 3wr sets. I wont start pass commiting until ive taken away their ability to run by blitzing the mlb early and often in the beginning of the game. Once they abandon the run i will begin to pass commit. Against pocket passers you will want the pass rush from ur defensive ends so you get sacks. Their is no reason to contain a pocket passer. Ive been playing madden for 20 years. User the middle and have a ball!

Literally, as of 24 hours, they now work. Their main assignment is to cover corner routes and they didn't because this game is awful. Now they work.

You're accidentally "run committing" which is LT then down on the right stick. If your accidentally do this, "pass commit" by clicking LT then up on the right stick

There are definitely better defenses out right now but this is a great defense against the run and for pass sheds... might release a different tutorial later.

Jason Parker yes you can, it's actually really easy. You have 7 seconds until the snap if they quick hike it. Next time I'll show an advanced setup with how quickly I can get it off but I promise you it isn't difficult
If you use this or play against it a couple times you'll be able to beat it. Most PA passes will beat it even with good users
Play action passes are awful this year for blocking... sheds all day + we are pass committing every play. Definitely can be route comboed on crossing patterns -- then again, nothing stops most post routes and corners this year
