I like how some people took the Coconut Mall meme so seriously as if Nintendo was trolling them when in actuality Nintendo knew Coconut Mall is the most requested course and that's why it was shown first with the music playing.
I still don’t get why so many people are bitching that we are getting dlc for Mario kart 8 as opposed to Mario kart 9. It’s $25 for 48 tracks instead of $60 for a whole new game. Some people lack logic

Honestly I think Mario Kart 9 will get the smash bros treatment. When everyone believed that we wouldn’t get a smash 5 then like a year or 2 later the Big announcement of Smash 5 was announced in a Nintendo Direct. Mario Kart 9 will literally get that same treatment. I can feel it😂.
Well the DLC finishes in 2023 so it makes sense that the next one can come out soon after that
Given how Nintendo is strict with "1 Smash/Mario Kart game per console" youre best waiting for the next console that isn't a Switch Pro if it ever becomes a reality.

It's not that we're not getting Mario Kart 9, it's that _this is Mario Kart 9._ 48 courses is literally doubling the number of courses currently in the game.

96 courses is insane. That’s literally double MK8D’s tracks, and 3 times the average amount of courses in a standard Mario Kart game.
This mario kart announcement really is just a roller coaster of emotions. You at first get excited for Mario Kart 9, then you hear that it's Mario Kart 8 DLC and immediately get kinda disappointed, then you see how they're adding 48 tracks and you get excited again and blown away at how much is being added and now you like that they're doing the DLC

I definitely understand why some people might be a little disappointed that it’s not Mario kart 9, but to me, this is still just as awesome. And yes, it is kind of funny how they’re willing to put this much dedication into adding 48 more courses when that amount of dedication could be attributed to just making an entirely new game, i.e. Mario kart 9, but this perfectly suffices to me. There’s active users on 8 Deluxe almost daily, and it’s very obvious why, the game is fantastic! Plus, while the game is an enhanced port of the Wii U version, it is effectively still a new Mario Kart for the Switch. If Nintendo wanted to make another Mario Kart from the ground up, they would probably wait for their next system (as they’ve pretty much always done) that isn’t an updated Switch. Plus, honestly, 8 and 8 Deluxe are gorgeous visually, so I don’t really know how much more you can do to make them better for a Mario Kart 9. I’m honestly pretty hyped, but I have a few requests:
Regarding the tracks, Nintendo, please bring back Waluigi Pinball, the Wii Sports Resort Wuhu Island tracks, Wario Colosseum (from Double Dash), DK Mountain (also Double Dash), Daisy Cruiser (Double Dash), and/or the Rainbow Roads from Wii and 7. You can throw in some previous Bowser Castles too if you like.
And while the character roster is already huge with characters that honestly shouldn’t exist, let alone be in the roster, have Pauline and Funky Kong in the game (if they made it in Tour, they should make it in here).
You got all the tracks you wanted except for Wuhu Island and Wario Colusseum. Congrats

I have to confess, Coconut Mall was my favorite track on the Wii version, so I'm glad it will make it's way to 8 Deluxe.

I love seeing creators like Mankalor who make MKT content get that wave of vindication that MKT is officially considered a mainline Mario Kart game. Like you can see exactly when they realize they can be like "you know how the entire Mario Kart fanbase wrote this game off as a stupid cashgrab that will be ignored by Nintendo like the arcade games? Well you're wrong!" because if you think about it, Mario Kart Tour being included makes it the actual Mario Kart 9.
Look, I'm not saying Ninja Hideaway is a life changing course.
I'm just saying that whenever it's brought back in a tour in MKTour, the collective community simultaneously shits their pants.

Well, it's called the Booster COURSE Pass so I kinda doubt it.
I think they're saving those when the actual Mario kart 9 comes out which will probably be in the next 3-4 years or when a new console comes out which I highly doubt the switch is gonna die any time soon. It really feels like we're just getting started.

There reactions to 48 tracks through 2023 was so funny🤣🤣. Nintendo knows what they doing.
I think something people should keep in mind with the online expansion pack is that it only lasts for a year. These courses will be released up until the end of 2023, so if you're planning on getting the online expansion pack now, you're gonna have to pay for it _again_ next year if you want to keep those new courses. Alternatively you could wait until next year and get them all at once. And, that being said, they will probably keep adding more content to the expansion pass, balancing things out again.
I think that is why they are putting even more stuff for the expansion to make it worth it for renewal. I just hope even more stuff gets added before we have to renew it.
No you don't have to pay again IF you buy the DLC SEPARATE from the expansion pack. Nintendo said it on their website and in the eShop.
@@ElectroBlastLuigi Well yeah but then that defeats the purpose of getting it from the expansion pack, meaning that if you WERE to ever get the expansion pack regardless, since you would've gotten the DLC either way, you basically wasted 25$ on top of buying the expansion pack. That is, again, assuming you were going to get the expansion pack anyway. If you JUST want the DLC, then yeah it'd cost you less (that is assuming you didn't also buy the Animal Crossing DLC, in which case.... well it depends on whether you want to keep them permanently or if one year is enough). I believe anyone who cares about saving money should think hard about which option they choose.

Watching this made me realize switch has been their platform for innovation and experimentaion for their games. Legend of Zelda BOTW, Mario Odessey, Animal Crossing New Horizon, Pokemon Legends Arceus, Kirby, Smash Ultimate, and this Mario Kart 8.

1 year later I still think this is better than mario kart 9 because I think that game might be very simplified. Wii was very deep, seven had less mechanics, the glider was fun tho. and now 8 is very simple. They even made the glider simpler. I prefer 8 deluxe to wii but still they need to add more complexity to 9 because I think they will oversimplify it.
I don't understand the Expansion Pack thing, it's $50 a year but as of right now it's kinda mediocre for the price IMO. $25 for the whole dlc right? So why would anyone pay $100 in two years when you can pay it $25 in March ??
It depends how you break it down. Regardless of Mario Kart DLC, if you want to play online, it's $20 a year minimum. For that $20, you get online multiplayer, NES, and SNES games, as well as cloud saves. Now for an extra $30, you get access to N64 games, Sega Genesis games, Animal Crossing DLC, and now Mario Kart DLC. Decent little bundle if you're into retro games, with some perks here and there.
Where it really gets more valuable is with the family plan. I share one with 7 of my closest friends. So for $80 a year split between us, all 8 of us get online, NES, SNES, N64, and Genesis games, and all of us have access to both the Animal Crossing DLC (though only 3 of my friends play AC) *and* the Mario Kart DLC (we ALL have Mario Kart).
The real value is in the family plan if you have the friends to split it up with. It'll get more valuable if they continue adding DLC to it.
Don't know about you guys, but I am just vibing to Coconut Mall over here!
