Out of all the DLC Tracks, Rainbow Road Wii is hands down my favorite. It's been my favorite track in Mario Kart Wii since I played it and it's been my favorite version of Rainbow Road to this very day. And revisiting Rainbow Road Wii on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is easily my biggest highlight out of all the DLCs.
I personally prefer Paris Promenade to Tokyo Blur, because I think there is just a bit more that I found interesting with PP, like the shortcuts, with totally lack on Tokyo Blur in the final lap. I also think the reverse gimmick is a great idea, and you didn't mention that at all. Its obviously just my opinion though.
Same here, I like having Paris Promenade 2R as the final lap. It's weird as well that Tour already has a variant for Tokyo that combines all of them (Tokyo Blur 4), and that one plays better! MK8 has a completely different version that anyone could whip up in an afternoon (design wise, since it's just TB 1, 2, and 3 in that order).
Tokyo Blur is literally the worst Tour track out of the entire collection. There is practically nothing interesting about it, except the plane in the background. But then again, Sunshine Airport already had planes taking off, and that track is a million times better than the complete borefest that is Tokyo Blur.
Personally I adore the city tracks, geography is my biggest hyperfixation, so driving through different cities and landmarks in Mario Kart fills me with so much joy. My favorite is probably Sidney Sprint, I’m a total fan girl for anything related to Australia and my dream is to live there one day. Singapore Speedway and Rome Avanti are also fantastic imo
I honestly enjoyed Mario Circuit 3 and Toad Circuit. The former because I’ve always loved how you can hold super long drifts on those old tracks, and the latter because Toad Circuit was the first level in any video game that I played.
SNES Mario Circuit 3 to me looks and plays pretty well. But Toad Circuit to me is one of the most boring tracks to drive on, as well as the ugliest looking track in the game. They didn't even try with that one.
Which kinda ruins the whole concept of 200cc tbh. Courses that were made with 150cc in mind are what make driving at 200cc so exhilarating where basic turns suddenly start becoming a lot more commital.
28:26 Thank you for doing Singapore justice, as I was worried all the cities would be at the bottom lol. Now go visit! It's at the top of my bucket list, entirely because of this track!
I actually had a video idea of visiting all the cities featured in the booster course pass, but that would be a crazy expensive project. Some of them I'd love to visit in my own time tho
I really feel that the Tour "RL" tracks are highly underrated. I mean, the main point of them is to get to see some fun landmarks from countries that are not yours and to see what Nintendo did with landmarks from your country if they made it into the game. Also, the reason for most tracks in 8 Deluxe (including DLC) to be on the simpler side is because they have to acomodate a bigger casual fanbase now.
11:30 the funny thing about the final lap in peach garden is that is like having the mission of the DS version where you drive as peach and your opponent is bowser. The final lap it feels like you are playing the mission and that is what I call a blast from the past
The Ninja Hideaway track also has a few Wario touches like the temple at the beginning, the windows and the flags. Definitely a reference to Kat and Ana from Warioware

I recently got around to playing wave 6, and Madrid Drive was actually pretty interesting. I really liked the addition of a soccer stadium near the end of the track, with Goomba shoes kicking balls across the field.
I think we all should have expected him put that track on 1. It's always been his favourite and while I don't agree its the best I'll accept it because the rest of the list was great.
Placing all the city tracks in the low parts of the list, yet Sydney and Singapore so high even though they're the most basic and boring outside of Tokyo, NYC and Paris, is the most NPC thing someone could do. And still putting Waluigi Pinball at 1 is getting infinitely blinded by nostalgia.
Can we stop calling people NPCs? I swear every time I hear that word, it drives me insane. Also, Singapore is not even that basic of a track and is actually really fun to drive through.
Thank you for all of the great memories, Mario Kart 8. I still need some time to ponder my own ranking, but Ninja Hideaway, Squeaky Clean Sprint, Peach Gardens, Waluigi Pinball, Waluigi Stadium, Mushroom Gorge, Daisy Cruiser, DK Mountain, Kalimari Desert, Moonview Highway, Snow Land, Merry Mountain, Athens Dash, Bowser Castle 3, 3DS Rainbow Road, and Wii Rainbow Road stand out as some of my favorites.
No it's not, it's just one man's opinion, that's all. You think I'd call you crazy for not liking something like Coconut Mall or Waluigi Pinball? Pretty much everyone has their own opinion, you can't just call someone else names because you don't agree with some of their placements.
I'm one of those people that just doesn't see the magic in Waluigi Pinball. It's definitely unique and fun to race on, but I wouldn't put it at the #1 spot. I would've given the top 2 spots to Wii and 3DS Rainbow Road.

I am literally devastated by the fact that almost EVERY SINGLE Wii Track is in the game except my favorite track of all time, Toad's Factory. I can't even begin to describe how upset I was when the last wave was announced. Don't get me wrong, the line up is great, but I would've taken Toad Factory over Toad Circuit any day.

In my opinion Wii Rainbow Road is my number 1 pick I like how the feeling from the wii is still there and how accurate the booster course pass version is.
People hate Mario circuit 3 but I actually like it a lot because it's really fun to drift on, those turns have juicy drift potential and I actually find myself picking it a lot to play on by myself
Waluigi Pinball at number 1 seems a *bit* biased, considering the remake was a little underwhelming with missed opportunities to do an anti-gravity section, and that it's the only reason there's 95 unique track themes instead of 96.
Gotta love that not only was Wii Rainbow Road a faithful remake but they even added the detail of your character falling off the track in flames just like the original
I wouldn't call it a "faithful" remake because they nerfed its difficulty a lot by adding a bunch of guard rails, but all the other details are on point
That's very true I'd say it's faithful to a degree at the very least. It's definitely easier than Wii but that might also be because of the physics differences. All in all I am stupidly happy for its return, the remake is so much fun
@@batmanbud2 My dude literally the whole point of the original track was to be difficult, and Mario Kart 8's better controls would've already made the track more accessible, Nintendo didn't need to change anything about the track itself.
The sunset wilds thing is because the lighting is baked into the environment, so there aren't any lighting changes. I'd imagine in a different game on newer hardware, we'd get it.
nathaniel bandy, thank you for this video i missed hearing you talk about mariokart and all this new stuff was just brought to my attention from this video and i wouldn’t wanna hear it any other way than you
What a journey this DLC has been. Mario Kart 8 deluxe was already great, but this DLC has easily made it the best mario kart game, far better than even Mario kart Wii now. It’s upsetting that it’s over, now that we can’t look forward to mario kart in directs anymore. Also we got more than we were promised, like the additional characters, mii costumes and custom items. Honestly, this is the best DLC for any video game, period. And this absolutely justifies the immense sales Also, I feel like the only bad tracks in this entire 48 track DLC are Toad Circuit and Tokyo Blur, only 2!
2:03 from what i understand, the reason for this is because MK8D uses a baked lighting engine, likely to ensure races go smoothly during online in other words they couldn't use dynamic lighting otherwise they'd have to update the lighting engine for all the other tracks, and imagine Nintendo didn't wanna go through all the hassle personally, im not bothered by that. it doesn't change anything and is just an aesthetic detail that doesn't really matter in the long run, so while i understand the disappointment, it's just not that big of a deal in my opinion
@@leafycrossing4755 im not sure tbh. pretty mich every track in the booster course dlc is a track that's been in tour, so either the options you listed weren't actually made in tour, or they felt sunset wilds in particular was a better fit i can't really say for certain as ive never actually played tour (this dlc was my first time playing the tour original tracks, and i personally loved it)
@@WitherofEarth all 3 of those were in tour, and i feel like Yoshi desert would have been a better pick tbh. Even Luigi circuit would have been great. in fact, i don't think luigi even has a track in this game at all outside of a single battle course.

I find that Wii Daisy Circuit is a lot more fun in this game compared to it’s Wii version. But that’s just me since I never really liked Daisy Circuit all too much. It was very exciting watching the waves get released and now that it’s over it makes me feel oddly nostalgic looking back at the old waves.
Eh, Nintendo definitely knew how bland the original was but the additions feel almost completely shoehorned in with no meaningful improvements. The fountain section was clearly not designed with a glider in mind, the random trick ramp on the road makes absolutely no sense in the context of the track, and the dash panels on the turn around the lighthouse are too big to fulfill their purpose of making the outside of the turn viable.
@@Marshall.R Even so, I like the flute addition to the first part of the song. I think the song alone carries this course and makes it memorable to me. Design elements like that make more impressions of a course for me.

@@bluejay21.biased too because i love paris
Tokyo blur is the worst city track imo
Same.
Yeah they're certainly bland but their layouts give better races than people give them credit for
SNES Mario Circuit 3 to me looks and plays pretty well. But Toad Circuit to me is one of the most boring tracks to drive on, as well as the ugliest looking track in the game. They didn't even try with that one.
@@FrazerEddy I know, it’s really sad.
@@aceash5.065Yeah, you know what else is sad? They didn't include Airship Fortress.

I agree with most of his thoughts.
I’m from the Netherlands and it’s crazy to me how Nathaniel pronounce these words and places so well for a bit dutchie!
I’m really proud of him!
The reason why the Booster Course Pass tracks are so wide is in order to be more 200cc-friendly.
Which kinda ruins the whole concept of 200cc tbh. Courses that were made with 150cc in mind are what make driving at 200cc so exhilarating where basic turns suddenly start becoming a lot more commital.
@@thesaltgod Neo Bowser City and Donut Plains 3 at 200cc are the bane of my existence as an Inside drift bike user.
Nathaniel put Sky High Sundae way too high up button
No, it's his opinion. Just because you don't agree with the list, doesn't mean it's bad.
Bro really tried to say Sky-High Sundae was better than DK Mountain
No, it's because he prefers that track over the other, not because he's gone mad since his opinion doesn't match other people's.
28:26 Thank you for doing Singapore justice, as I was worried all the cities would be at the bottom lol. Now go visit! It's at the top of my bucket list, entirely because of this track!
don't really want to visit a country that kills people for falling into drugs lmao
Arguably the most interesting thing about Los Angeles Laps is that they straight up threw in some local businesses there, I think that's really cool

Man I’m disappointed you think Madrid drive is low, I think it really has unique identity and feel to it, plus it flows really great
A rare case of recency bias dragging an opinion down, methinks, tied to how he thinks the cities are oversaturated
Yes it’s not just me! I wrote a comment saying basically the same thing. Madrid drive is one of the best tour tracks! Playing it on 200cc is so fun
Madrid is definitely up there with Singapore imo those two I'd love to get remade in the next game if they were to add some tour tracks
I recently got around to playing wave 6, and Madrid Drive was actually pretty interesting. I really liked the addition of a soccer stadium near the end of the track, with Goomba shoes kicking balls across the field.
Madrid Drive is my least favourite wave 6 course
I think we all should have expected him put that track on 1. It's always been his favourite and while I don't agree its the best I'll accept it because the rest of the list was great.
Placing all the city tracks in the low parts of the list, yet Sydney and Singapore so high even though they're the most basic and boring outside of Tokyo, NYC and Paris, is the most NPC thing someone could do. And still putting Waluigi Pinball at 1 is getting infinitely blinded by nostalgia.
Exactly. No critical thinking ability from this guy
Can we stop calling people NPCs? I swear every time I hear that word, it drives me insane. Also, Singapore is not even that basic of a track and is actually really fun to drive through.
Love seeing people mad about other people's opinions it's genuinely sad to see.
This list is absolutely crazy and I’m happy the comments agree.
No it's not, it's just one man's opinion, that's all. You think I'd call you crazy for not liking something like Coconut Mall or Waluigi Pinball? Pretty much everyone has their own opinion, you can't just call someone else names because you don't agree with some of their placements.
The Booster course pass truly got better and better with each new wave.

The sheer irony that every other toad track is in 8. Ah well. . .maybe next time. Or not.
@@batmanbud2 Every Wii Track except Dry Dry Ruins, Bowser's Castle, and the circuit tracks are in 8 which makes it all the more disappointing Toad's Factory didn't make the cut.
@@Goatman_GamerHow did MOO MOO MEADOWS get in over TOAD'S FACTORY?

Wii Rainbow Road is number 1 for me. It's not only my favorite Rainbow Road but also my favorite Mario Kart track of all time.
People hate Mario circuit 3 but I actually like it a lot because it's really fun to drift on, those turns have juicy drift potential and I actually find myself picking it a lot to play on by myself
Same. I love the turns
Sky High Sundae deserves no other spot than 48th...
Yeah, that's hardly the worst track in my opinion. I think the concept is fantastic, just the design isn't really that great to me.
Sky High Sundae sucks but I don’t think it’s last though lol
Waluigi Pinball at number 1 seems a *bit* biased, considering the remake was a little underwhelming with missed opportunities to do an anti-gravity section, and that it's the only reason there's 95 unique track themes instead of 96.
Gotta love that not only was Wii Rainbow Road a faithful remake but they even added the detail of your character falling off the track in flames just like the original
I wouldn't call it a "faithful" remake because they nerfed its difficulty a lot by adding a bunch of guard rails, but all the other details are on point
@@Marshall.Rthey do have to appeal to a broader audience, given how many copies this game sold
I'd imagine in a different game on newer hardware, we'd get it.
so use yoshi desert instead

And sky high sundae. That map is just horrible to play. It’s so so boring to play
@@samuelevans5129 yeah he even says it in the video, yet it still ranks rather high. like be consistent with your ranking at least
Among the city tracks it's objectively the worst
What a journey this DLC has been. Mario Kart 8 deluxe was already great, but this DLC has easily made it the best mario kart game, far better than even Mario kart Wii now. It’s upsetting that it’s over, now that we can’t look forward to mario kart in directs anymore. Also we got more than we were promised, like the additional characters, mii costumes and custom items. Honestly, this is the best DLC for any video game, period. And this absolutely justifies the immense sales
Also, I feel like the only bad tracks in this entire 48 track DLC are Toad Circuit and Tokyo Blur, only 2!
2:03 from what i understand, the reason for this is because MK8D uses a baked lighting engine, likely to ensure races go smoothly during online
in other words they couldn't use dynamic lighting otherwise they'd have to update the lighting engine for all the other tracks, and imagine Nintendo didn't wanna go through all the hassle
personally, im not bothered by that. it doesn't change anything and is just an aesthetic detail that doesn't really matter in the long run, so while i understand the disappointment, it's just not that big of a deal in my opinion
If that WAS the case, why would they add it into 8DX?? Yoshi Desert, Peach Circuit, or Luigi Circuit would've been much better choices.
Maybe because if was the only version I played of it but it was my second favorite after Yoshi's Island in that release.
@@leafycrossing4755 im not sure tbh. pretty mich every track in the booster course dlc is a track that's been in tour, so either the options you listed weren't actually made in tour, or they felt sunset wilds in particular was a better fit
i can't really say for certain as ive never actually played tour (this dlc was my first time playing the tour original tracks, and i personally loved it)
@@WitherofEarth all 3 of those were in tour, and i feel like Yoshi desert would have been a better pick tbh. Even Luigi circuit would have been great.
in fact, i don't think luigi even has a track in this game at all outside of a single battle course.
Waluigi pinball is pretty good, but it’s not so good it’s first, it should be like 16th or something like that
In my opinion, Squeaky Clean Sprint is #1
RIP N64 Wario Stadium, there were 48 chances and it missed all of them.
It'll be in the next game
I finished all the courses just today! When they revealed a Wii Rainbow Road remake, I couldn't be any happier! I felt so proud of myself for completing everything!
Yep, it definitely is. I love it even more
