Look at Wario's Stadium and compare it to THIS STUPID CHANGE. I'd rather go inside the castle, come out hydrated, PASS the bridge, SHOOT MYSELF ONTO THE CASTLE ROOF, and land safely near the goal!

I'm so happy that they're incorporating these elements from Tour in the Booster Pack tracks! Reverse courses are one of my favorite things from Tour, and It's so delightful to see reactions from people that (oftentimes) haven't experienced them before. Wish they included more of 'em, though. In my opinion, some courses are even more fun backwards!

Unfortunately I don't think MK8 will offer that option, but it would be a super cool thing to drop alongside the final wave or something like that. Maple Treeway is so fun backwards. It's an entirely new experience!
Before they announced the Booster Course Pass, more dynamic tracks like this, as well as Mount Wario/3DS Rainbow Road-style tracks, were at the top of my wishlist for a potential MarioKart 9. Y'know, less doing three of the same exact laps. And Nintendo answered it here in this DLC

As a huge fanatic of Mariokart DS, this was a huge, yet welcoming surprise for me. Like Troy, I'm so glad I did these courses blind. All I need now is for the final DS track in the DLC to be Airship Fortress. A Bowser Castle would also be nice (Excluding GBA 1, 2, and 3. 4 would be good though.), because I'm also quite the Bowser Castle Enthusiast. Now that halfpipes are back, I have a newfound hope that Wii Bowser's Castle will return in wave 6.
Honestly, as a veteran of MarioKart DS I always found Peach Gardens mid, and the Wii retro wasn't any better. The Tour glowup exceeded my expectations, and then they add this twist for the Booster Course Pass. I'm in love. Also, yes. Airship Fortress, please!
I'm curious as to how many people missed the GIANT red arrows directing you on the third lap to go the new route, on the first 2 laps I can see as they're tucked away against the hedge
I was originally gonna say that this was a B-tier track (around the same level as Rock Rock Mountain), but after the 3rd lap, it shot it RIGHT up into S-tier for sure to me.
When I think about the fact that they included the custom items feature in the update, I really wish that for Wave 6 - The final MK8D update, they make a reverse mode. It would make the game so much more versatile with basically having two track variants for all 96 tracks. But then, Mario Kart 9 really would have a VERY HARD TIME to top this...
The first time I did this track was on 50cc so I could admire the details and scope out shortcuts. I was so far ahead at the start of lap 3 that when I started going backwards, I had to drive through the other racers. And I hit almost every trap banana I placed in the previous lap.

First time playing, I knew something about the map looked off, but couldn’t figure out what. I definitely noticed the added road, but I was having some sort of mandela effect wondering if that was always there or not.
I was doing a test run with this track via VS mode… and I almost got caught off guard seeing the rest of the cpu racers driving in the opposite direction because they haven’t reached the final section of the race! 😂
Woah, Im not actually that die jard of a mario kart player and just stumbled on this video but seeing their reactions really warms my heart and gives me nostalgia for the love i have for this game.
Whatever the next Mario Kart game is should have Trick and Reverse versions of all tracks like tour does. Triple the track count without having to make a new model, then double that for Mirror mode. Assuming the next game goes back the the 8 cup standard that's (technically) 192 tracks. If it uses base Deluxe standards that's 288 tracks. If it uses Deluxe + DLC standards that's 576 tracks.
Honestly I’d be stoked to have reverse versions of each track. Driving backwards through a track is such a small thing but it’s such a different experience than driving forward. I don’t have the same sentiment towards having a trick version though. I feel like that might bloat the game too much, and I’d imagine a lot of people would feel gimped about having trick variants “instead of” new/retro courses. (Even if they might not be complicated to add it still feels like it’d be a waste of resources.)

People are so used to tracks (especially ones they already are familiar with) that they don't "need the mini map" like when fresh I would look at the mini map to know a turn coming up but when I know the course already I obviously don't even look at it

I never liked that three split tbh. But yeah, the two garden patches near the maze-y section… also sad they removed a lot of the off-road. At least they kept the off-road after the bridge; the teaser they had for the DLC showed a super watered-down shortcut, and it made it to Tour either way.
You can go backwards in Peach's Gardens and on the train tracks in Kalimari Desert. If only Royal Raceway added an alternative route through Peach's castle in the final lap, but it's already too late for that.
@@harrybest2041 That doesn't mean they can't make a track going inside the palace that leads to a gliding ramp out a window towards the finish line. They don't have to be designed exactly the same as the originals. Otherwise the GBA retro tracks would be far less interesting.

I find it fascinating how most of the gamers do not notice the boundary arrows until they run into them 😂I mean they are red and flashy, how did they not see them early enough? Also the map gave the secret away right at the start, as well as the arrows in lap 1 and 2 in front of the new path 🤷♂
