- Process of Imprisonment in Dallas County Jail | Texas, USA | Short Documentary
The Dallas County Jail in Texas - a supersized facility with beds for 7,100 inmates. There, inmates brought in for anything from minor crimes to serial killing await their court dates. Up to 300 new arrivals come in per day. The biggest threat in the prison? Turf wars. With the surplus of inmates, there is less space to divide up between them, leading to relentless gang warfare.

“Do you feel hopeless by being here? No.
I feel hopeless by just watching
Why would they put crazy ppl with crazy ppl
Go out the house to get a fat cheeseburger 🍔 😂
How do you kill someone over some gang bangin and pray to God that the judge sends you home? Buddy u killed is in a casket, he/she ain't neva goin home.
Well said
I've been to ol' lew lew many of times. Im grateful to say I haven't been back in almost 7 years. Tbh it was probably the best thing for me because I never been to the penitentiary and I learned how to be grateful for my freedom. Life is good.
I wonder if their victims feel dehumanized.
"This is the worst place I've ever been", but these guys will continue to do things to keep going back.😅
that’s what happens when you punish instead of attempting rehabilitate
It's a life style. It's like some people can't help it. They just go in and out there whole life's.
@@keisandramiller5888 That's because the US prison system doesn't attempt to rehabilitate them or get them ready for reentry into society. It's why our recidivism rate is 66%. And a country like Norway has a recidivism rate of 20%. People can help it. It's not a lifestyle. Prison is called Crime U in the US because we don't help the inmates and they just learn how to be more violent criminals.
We COULD rehabilitate these prisoners. We just don't. Why? It would cost money and time.
Keep your nose clean and stay out of jail and you don't have to deal with this 💯 It's perfectly sensible to have the same protocol for everyone that gets booked. You act unruly, you get put in check. That's life.
Unfortunately, that's not how the world works anymore.
You know full well that is not the case.
But what if you're a CO?
SO THE CRIMINALS THAT PUT U IN CHECK ARE JUST AS BAD AS U AT THAT POINT. THATS THE POINT OF A JUSTICE SYSTEM. FOR FAIR PUNISHMENT. NOT CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT. LOSING YOUR FREEDOM IS PUNISHMENT ENUFF IN A FREE WORLD

Still waiting for the dehumanizing part
Toughest prison?? Its a damn jail, a huge jail but still a jail not a prison
Ever been to jail? To Lew Sterrett? Many inmates would rather be in prison.
@Old red. What’s your point?
@@chuckscott4661 I’m going out on a limb, thinking the person I replied to isn’t just pointing out that there is a difference between jail and prison. That’s obvious. I’m guessing they’re implying that jail is easier than prison. Lew Sterrett is jail, sure, but in Texas the system works where you rot in jail waiting for court in the hopes you take a plea when offered and they get the conviction. It could take a while. In that sense, there’s a lot of prisoners waiting there on their turn to go to prison. I’m the meantime, you don’t get yard, or even get to see outside. Commissary isn’t near the same. Fights, assaults, and death happens pretty regularly there. The whole jail is race oriented, and that includes the sheriff’s corrections officers, who also bring in contraband.
The point is sure it’s jail, not prison, but like I said if someone wants to imply that it’s easier I think you’d find that the people who’ve been there would rather just catch chain.
@Old red. I’ve been to jail and prison and you Definitely make a good point.
@@chuckscott4661 thanks. I qualify too and spent a good chunk of time at lew sterrett and it was wild. Unlike anywhere else I been.
Don't want to be "dehumanized"? Don't break the law!
For someone to stop breaking the law, people need to fix the societies; the US especially.
lol, this is why America has the second highest % of population incarcerated, the perverse fixation of punishment vs rehabilitation. Go check the amount of serial killers in America vs the rest of the world….
Are we supposed to feel sorry for them.
There is a great deal that I don't understand! First of all you get treated the same way as you do other people. When you find yourself in trouble comply with who are in charge. Police don't want to do you any harm, they're people too. When you get aggressive & out of control , the police may have to use force. Not because they want to but because you made them.!!! Take responsibility for your own life, quit blaming others!
It is not that simple, at least for colored folks. If it was that simple than most colored folks wouldn’t be anxious around police
If the place is so nasty, why does he keep coming back, it is all about choices, there are programs to help
Not in the US exactly, and even if there are you have issues like 1) social security nets 2) no health-care 3) expensive things that needs to be bought 4) easy access to guns 5) horrible education system generally and in "ghetto" areas that are more prone for crime and violence. So, just to help you out a bit: when saying something like that: especially in a documentary set in the US, take in the several factors which make it easy for someone to turn to crime within different states BEFORE going on about choices. ❣
I just got out of Dallas county jail , north tower.. Dallas is the worst jail ive been too
Don.t want to do the time...then don.t do the crime...common sense ...it.s not rocket science
Harris county in Houston is way worse imo. I’ve been to both and south tower in Dallas is like a hotel compared to Harris
Yall complain like it 3 rd world jail
I went west tower
Cook County is worse than both of those
Some of those women guards hook up with a lot of those dudes. It’s kinda crazy the stuff they do in there.
Yes. I saw a priosner hook up with a female Sgt when he got out.
Yep. Had a buddy who was a CO, and he said its an overwhelming majority that do. Atleast where he was that's how it was
@@thetruthhurts131That female sounds like a real keeper! 🤮
Go school , Havard , Seton Hall , Yale 😂 Ivy League schools!!
That would be my strategy.
And this is the reason I don’t break the law just watching these videos
Me too! Theirs a reason why we have laws here in America.
I highly doubt a TH-cam video is the only reason
@@babyp1nk 😂 it’s part of the fact that I’ve known people who have done 15-30 years in prison and tell me how bad it is inside no freedom no privacy I’m like fk that

All 4 of them?
lol prob a few baby daddy’s getting thrown in here cus of baby mamas ..
Sedgwick Co KS jail is built for 1100 inmates but it’s had as many as 4500+ before
Practically a kid? 😂😂😂😂
This is America.
No, America is the best place to have a chance to make it. These shows highlight a sub- group of Americans who refuse to better themselves, don't care who they trample on, and deserve everything that comes to them.
Zombie apocalypse in real life 🧟
Angel dusting it❤
What a difference from British prisons the reason why they build walls around prison is to keep people from getting in for a holiday and free gym membership
You misunderstand this isn’t a prison, this is our equivalent of a police station the people here have not been found guilty of anything for the most part.
Dallas is just a different animal too. There are jails in less-populated areas that are not bad
I was in there for couple days in March
Talk about people with mental disorders. Lord Jesus Christ! I almost threw a mf of the top tier. This place is a mad house
Jail prison welcomes all
Cops and COs don't get paid enough to deal witht thr animals of society.
Imagine if they just picked you up from the streets for being lost and drugged and threw you in a pit of fire just to get you out the way. Would that make the world a better place?
Do you have another option?
Stay away from drugs.🤔
Just say NO. ITS QUITE SIMPLE. You out here wanting everyone else to pay for your mistakes … says a lot abt ur character. That damn victim mentality. ICK.
Yes.

I don't know how they do it. Dealing with all those crazy people. I would loose it.
I bet they know how to sell lose correctly.
don’t be an officer then
Bill clements, unit in Texas, is the tuffest.
Some are safer than the ones who put them there. Being treated inhumane makes many act inhumane. I pray for justice. I mean real justice.
11:58 I'm glad I don't know all the hiding places... What a job...
Lew Sterrick don't play
Drugs aint worth your freedom
How do you dehumanize a rapist or a murderer? They’re already dehumanized!
Can we show Treaes conzola king on one in jail
man you see those bricks .those aint been cleaned since the 60s .
Man I’ve heard several people that have done 10+ years in prison say Dallas County North Tower is worse than prison
County time always worse than prison time
Sad
I know and understand it’s a different lifestyle in there, however, they all had a decision to do whatever they did. If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
Stay outa jail cuhs 😂
I've been in Dallas county before
Same as Nueces County just bigger
Most probably had very poor parenting and a lack of education. Sad in this day and age
😂Bro lew lew a playground compared to how it use to be. North tower use to be gladiator camp. Them tablets done saved some people from violence for sure 😂... Worst thing about this jail is you will turn into bologna if you don't have commissary so make sure you have a lawyer and lunch money before you commit a crime my gz 😅
Crazy theres ppl in there that are never going home .ppl need to realize that .that they will give u life ir the chair so you guys think twice
According to the book, The Matrix of Race, jail intake process is known as "The Degradation Ceremony." It is quite degrading because the inmate has to get naked, squat and cough, and be present with other naked inmates. It's one of the worst experiences a human being can go through.
one of the worst? not really.. dont do the crime if you cant do the time..
Then don't give cops a reason to take you in.
Bro if you think being naked with a few other people of the same gender. Is the "worst" things to happen to a person.....boy you just must be delusional.
So is murder - prison aint there to rehabilitate that option ended by the age of 10 for most of these guys it is to stop them going out and killing more people - as probably half of them would -
He likes in there cuz he keeps coming back
He a said it'd a royal man's air that you got no rights breathin all Canadian..fully alive.

Nineteen, what a waste
I've been in north tower
How about the victims they dehumanized?
We need to find a better way to handle are people no jail for drugs we need rehab quit packing are jails with drug related offensive
That's not working for Seattle or Portland. Decriminalization of drugs results in public usage of drugs where tax-paying citizens can't use parks or wait at bus stops because of people shooting up. At least jail provides an opportunity to dry up.
Dehumanizing? Who cares?? They chose their fate.
You really havent watched the Madagascar prison dcoumentary have you? There is a clear line between dehumanising and inhumane because you committed a crime which gives you a higher chance on being a repeat-offender, and a humanised and human prison/jail which helps you rehabilitate.
Most of the people here haven’t been found guilty of anything
Message to Youngsters--Make the Next Right Choice.
" many are repeat offenders" you say. WHY
They should they should make a room for once I have Covid so they could be in the jail rooms
Nothing good happens after 9pm
90 % of these guys have a baby momma waiting on the outside for them no matter how long it takes.
Ive been to lu lu its not that bad
12-19-1981
Please use money and build more big jails and prisons to house these repeat offenders so others can be protected. We spend tax dollars on lots of things . This has been a over crowded problem for many years. Address this problem, build lots more prisons please

Dont worry; at least he can play with paintball guns with the guards and get a tattoo.

So is it working,, ??
Well, its nothing compare to asian prison i guess, even the meal was like feces

If you think you can commit Grand Theft Auto in real life and use your ancestors struggle with slavery and torture as an excuse for them, getting dehumanized is still less than what you deserve. I'm also a die hard GTA lover, its been my favorite game franchise since childhood but would I do what the characters or NPCs do in REAL LIFE?? The answer is NO!
You are the inhuman one. A ghoul devoid of empathy.
They should they should give you more they should give you more equipment that can she protect their mask. She’ll protect their mask to protect your face. Where are you bringing people
You need to wear bodysuit mask
