- No Guards, No Police: World’s Toughest Prisons, San Pedro | Short Documentary
Imagine a prison so fierce that guards stay outside for fear of their lives. Inside, the prisoners are in control: murderers, violent offenders, drug bosses. The inmates rule and anarchy prevails. Only the strongest survive this lawless place.

I like how the prison bosses room looks a lot better than the actual police room
So many people are missing a major point- there are no guards INSIDE, there are armed guards OUTSIDE who prevent them from leaving.
But you legit see a clip in the beginning them being rallied back inside 😂
yeah and im sure they are very alert, and care very deeply about their jobs... and totally not doing drugs or drinking...
Duhhhhhh
I mean... was that not obvious from the video?
@@LonghairbaeeFacts!
This man has a whole office in the prison 😂
Executive style 😂
Waiting room and everything lol
He gonna see this 😭
While watching Fifa 😂
The toughness guy in that prison is the camera man
I got arrested for drugs. Well, these drugs in this prison too. It everywhere😮!!
Camera man never dies 😂
this is insane... its dystopian. a real life city that's a prison inside an actual city. they all live everyday lives like its normal and they govern everything themselves and idk I don't even have words tbh I'm speechless
That’s not dystopian. It’s utopian. For the prisoners anyway.
@@richardtibbetts574Utopian for who exactly? Few people at the top? Maybe.
Don’t ever take your life for granted!! Be happy enjoy every bit..
hope that one day you realize why you we created in this life.
Amen
@@user-ct5eg8bt4p we are a cancer to earth
Damm I never would have thought the prison from Baki is real. Like the murdered has a better office then the officer😂😂
Saw this prison from the outside while living in La Paz for a few months back in 2006. A few years before I was there, they used to let non-prisoners go in. It was described to me as a little community and the people inside would sell stuff to people on the "tours". Very strange system, within a very poor yet beautiful and strange country. I'd be so happy to get the opportunity to return to Bolivia someday and see more of that amazing country.
everyone has to carry themselves how they can when no money
Did you go inside?
@@oneflyguy1949 thats what im thinking about also
It's kind of strange that the inmate acts like the warden
Thats the role he has within the prison, he essentially his the warden.
Amazingly Coca Cola is sponsoring the prison and it might be the cheapest "coke" inside 😂😂😂
😮😂😮
🤣🤣🤣
😅😅
Wonder what happens when you've finished serving your sentence, do your just walk out or...?
If only these prisoners worked this hard on the outside
The boss is leaving the best of his life.
Wonder what he left it for
dude looks like a high ranked cartel member
Absolutely a person who deserved to be punished is living a better life, crazy
Lmao the women bring in the goods, bread cocaine and building materials 😂😂😂
The essentials
They even have paperwork😂😂
Criminals keep paper trails too😂
they wear ID card also tho
Some wonder why won't the prisoners just escape and the answer to that lies within those walls. Would you allow people of your kingdom to just leave? The prison bosses make money from the prisoners they get. It's their world.
they can't leave coz prison guards are actually guarding them, to make sure they don't get out, they don't care what happens inside as long as prisoners can't get out..
@@siatonfirestation3069facts!
@@siatonfirestation3069Facts lol. What bro said makes sense but the reason they don’t “just escape” is clearly the armed police officers outside who’s literal only job is to make sure you don’t get out lol
Reminds me of SONA from Prison Break.
Best season of Prison Break?
indeed but here there is no escape for anyone

Repost or not, its sad to know the truth about how people spend their lives, respect to the cameramen.
The cameraman was fine. The guys who run the prison were payed well to let them go in and film. They weren't gonna let anything happen to him.
Is this same channel uploaded earlier or i saw on other channel and this is content copy?
@@brandocalrissian3294100%.
Dude, it's "Escape From New York" come to life. What a riot!
Lord of the Flies, prison edition.
I like how the delegates formed a government, creates laws, and taxes the other prisoners. This is a microcosm of the real world
Cameraman invincible
u know what they say, cameraman never dies
He’s well protected. He has paid for the access.
The bravest person in the world is the one who enters into the prison(by doing crime) knowing that this is such a cruel prison
More like dumbest person
The bravest person is the one that don't do stupidity to be in there..
I don't think it's a choice
That stupidity not bravery what are you on about? 😂
Cartel Prison racket. Entrance fee. How foul! Mentally unstable monsters.
So, is this for a life sentences?
Because I don't see how the guards can get to you if you only have like a 5-10 year sentence.
I seen a Similar episode on this Prison the prisoner hast to keep track of their sentence when it starts to come up they have to make their way to the front with the guards at let them know the guards will get a hold of some type of lawyer to represent them go to court and they have to wait to hear back from them it’s a very scary and crazy situation
Keep in mind prisons are suppossed to be able reform criminals not enable them, so this is literallly going nowhere
Prisons are meant to keep the sub humans away from the humans. Reform is a nice pipe dream though.
This sort of thing works for life sentences but not for anyone who's gonna see the outside again.
I guess letting inmates completely run the joint makes sense as the cheapest short-term option. But it seems like the government has completely given up on both criminal rehabilitation and deterrence. You can't subject prisoners to such hellish conditions under mob rule then expect them to come out as better citizens. And this will just exacerbate crime problems throughout their whole society in the long-term. So what is the goal there? Is it just sadism? I'd rather be executed than live out my foreseeable future in such a place.
Cost
Look at how poor and corrupt their country is. They don't have many options left if they still want to be able to care for law abiding citizens.
I'm pretty sure people don't really leave that place unless the "Delegados" say so.
imagine someone who murdered your loved one being sent here to chill and snort coke
don’t move then then
Clearly he got beat up for what he said at the beginning of the video
Wat he said
I was thinking this but could also be not paying the fee.
Mel Gibson made a movie about a prison like this, called "Get the Gringo" (2012).
Reminds me of escape from Newyork.
The world is a madhouse. The craziest run it.
No, Bolivia is.
This makes complete sense. You go to prison for not obeying the rules and this p.o.s. expects you too follow their rules? If you aren't watching me, I'm leaving.
Well you don't follow the rule you go missing
@@mszanellahright? I don’t think this person really has a good grasp of the situation on display here.
Lmfao, good luck with that. You'd be speedrunning your death sentence with that logic
I feel like the bosses off the prison know that they need to keep you from escaping. They don't want that situation to end. And if peopel start to escape, they all might end up in traditional prison
Some places need to be totally wiped out
Amen brother
Some ??? LOLLLLLLL....no kidding
do you have the money and the resources for that
There's only one God tho
Once again it happens cameraman never die
So does the government sentence you in court to this prison and then you’re escorted there by police but left there?
Boss guy seems more like an accountant
The opening paragraph of the Wikipedia article - (there's a HOTEL there !)
San Pedro prison or El penal de San Pedro (Saint Peter's Prison) is the largest prison in La Paz, Bolivia and is renowned for being a society within itself. Significantly different from most correctional facilities, inmates at San Pedro have jobs inside the community, buy or rent their accommodation, and often live with their families. The sale of cocaine base to visiting tourists gives those inside a significant income and an unusual amount of freedom within the prison walls. Elected leaders enforce the laws of the community, primarily through stabbing. The prison is home to nearly 3,000 inmates (not including the women and children that live inside the walls with their convicted husbands), with additional guests staying in the prison hotel.
reminds me of season 3 Prison Break
I bet there is at least one PS5 and a couple meta quests.
They need to follow El Salvadors example.
Absolutely
Curious, why is that?

fascinating and terrifying...
Arkham City irl
Marching powder ! Great book 📕
We should do this to Chicago.
Chicago's already like this. The criminals do whatever they want and the police do nothing.😂
Woman and children live their asiel. They can go outside during the day, to work and go to school. Mad place. Marching powder by Rusty Young is a good read about the live of a inmate inside this place.
Im bustin out
Looks fun!
If all prison was like this maybe people would think twice about committing crimes but on the other hand its really sad to see these prisoners not have any support or help once inside
It's like in the Prison Break series
Prison in Sona Panama
Lesson of the day, dont get sent to san padro
Imagine going to jail and you become a president inside the jail but you are still a prisoner 😂
We have the same thing here in our country. It's much bigger and more organized and it even has it's own TV network with its own programs and interviews with politicians and high ranking government officers inside the prison. Then after it was featured on a Discovery Channel documentary our government was so embarrassed that they took control over it again.
Wow really!? What country is that? In America prison is like a business & our government sees the people as products, so I couldn’t imagine them having that much freedom for creativity.
So...what country?
Which country??

12:53 i just might be weird but that was actually are pretty cool symbolizing shot/scene
Why are these murders even in prison and not a graveyard
Because suffering behind walls feeling helpless is a lot more suffering than death. If they’re dead, their problems are over, in prison, they go crazy and suffer
Total negation of responsibility. So very sad.
Did I just see a child in that prison 😅
It's just Bolivian public housing
Time to build a controlled facility and start putting the "new" prisoners
you got the money for that?
Guess who runs this prison?
*CocaCola*
That’s awesome tbh
Its awesome to live in such a garbage prison and among dangerous people?
Isnt this just the plot to Batman arkham games?
@3:59 the head of the delegados looks like Alfred Molina
Are there any airbnb places there? Looks like a great place to vacation.
With coke that cheap I’ve already booked 🤣
San Pedro is luxurious place. They cook what they want and they do what they want inside the prison. Like a Party .
It look like a cool place. No guards? Sign me in
I worked at a jail, often four of us with roughly 200 inmates. Four across the whole jail.
Prisons I worked routinely had 24 staff and 1,200-1,700 inmates.
20 is enough staff, but they have to come up off the money to completely rebuild that facility.
tell me more about it, please, if you would kindly
Make you wonder if anywere in this world is safe

As good as life might seem for the top guys, I bet any of them would leave in an instant if they could
Very nice jail 👏👏👏, very nice country, they should proud themselves....,
Youre joking
@@ChannelName567that’s sarcasm.
I don't understand, if there are empty guard towers and no guards patrolling anything what's stopping an escape? the security in this place is clearly nowhere near a super-max in the US, looks like you can easily get on the roof and its close to the wall, or even tunnelling out considering there's no guards to hide from.
maybe it's rather a community than a prison
Bc its already hard to get out, imagine an escape charge on top. It'll probably end up being life in prison.
@@jjjordan3881 Most of those guys are in there for life anyways, that's how it is in this 3rd world countries, you get forgotten about, you go in with a small sentence and then you're there for far longer than you're meant to be.
That's the first thing that i say'd lol 😂😂😂
Where are you going when you get out
It's the high altitude. It drives them crazy because of lack of oxygen😢

This is what anarchy is it not
In a prison like this the richest is the toughest
Its not that they can't escape, they rather live there too due to easy access for drugs
First rule of fight club lol

america looking pretty good rn
What’s stopping them from just leaving? Since the state isn’t involved at all?
Delegados, the reason why he rules the place and "nurturing the newcomer" is to control them by fear, and they know the consequences if they break the law, so no one brave enough to be "creative" in that places, cause they probably can get killed for real. And those ruler is definitely get that authority by a Chief police of that place, most criminals is more scared to other criminals than a police, cause police action is under the law control, but criminals action is not controlled by anything, and they always using extreme methods.
@agree
now i want to watch escape from LA
Nice to see Coca-Cola sponsor this jail
The US should do this rather than us our tax dollars.
