      I think you should all immigrate to the Netherlands. These things do not exist in my country. Kids arent restrained in cuffs, let alone arrested for smoking weed??? The need to wear a white prison suit... whats that about? We dont have that in prison, you get to wear your own clothes to keep your humanity. Thats just absolutely bizar, going to jail for marijuana, its legal here and there is no crime because of THAT. You treat people like animals.

    So right from the start, the intake lady seemed like she wanted Morris to have additional charges. He already has a warrant, and he didn't appear in court. Why does he need more charges?
    His Mother is SO positive. She said something very important: Getting help is a positive thing. There's nothing wrong with medication. Far too many times, men, and especially young men, get told that crying or asking for help is a weakness. It takes far more strength to ask for help when you need it, than to stay silent.
    He has so much bottled inside, and he needs to get the help that's being offered. He ran away, and now the placement won't take him back. He truly needs some help before he ends up in an adult prison.

    • @CalamariProductions
      @CalamariProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks for your comment, @Joker WonderWoman. You're right -- it takes much more strength to ask for help than it does to bury it all inside. We see a lot of kids who go through depression, anger, etc. Finding programs for kids BEFORE they end up in the system is always best, but some kids have little support or knowledge on how to get the help they need. The juvenile courts are designed for care, treatment and rehabilitation. It doesn't always work that way, but that's the goal. Morris struggled over the years. He ended up serving time in prison for robbery but was released in 2015. We hope to feature more updates in the months ahead. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Greatly appreciated.

      @@jlcollins7673 they were talking about sending him away for 2 yrs before this which is why he didn’t appear in court which made him have a warrant. If he would have went to court he wouldn’t of had a warrant. They didn’t say why he went to jail the first time to make them want to send him away for 2 years.

      @@jlcollins7673 Him having smoked weed or not, was legally neither here nor there. It was merely the pretext for him coming into contact with police, along with his friends. He was taken into custody solely because there was a bench warrant out for his arrest. He was tested for drugs at the hospital because the juvenile facility will not process in youths who are under the influence. His positive test was not being used as evidence to prosecute him in court. This is all made abundantly clear in the episode so I'm not sure what you're going off the deep end about.

    Anger is a natural emotion, and you see stuff like this, where we are told to repress everything. This young man needs an emotionally nurturing mother. That is my take on this. I've been thru the same path as him

    When he said it feels different when I cry, I haven’t cried in so long and his mother reassured him that it’s okay to cry. That healed a place in my soul I didn’t know need it. I feel like as black people we are conditioned to be so tough skinned and not express our emotions for fear of being misunderstood. I see a lot of me in this young man. I wish him all the best ❤

      @Jinella - Thank you for watching and posting that comment. That moment during Morris' visitation was a real moment for everyone on our team too when it happened. It was such a simple yet profound statement. We hope it helps show the many layers of these stories when it comes to kids and families. Thank you again for watching.

    These young people need someone who cares for them and can guide them. We used to send our kids to church or have big brothers big sisters but now the internet and the gang raises them. My heart goes out to these youth.

      @Truth_Soldier 91 Thanks for your conern for the kids we feature in our videos. We definitely see gang influence in some cases, but it also goes deeper, as you allude to. Ultimately, kids need hope, opportunity and support. Not all have it, which is why programs like Big Brothers/Sisters and many others are a great safety net to keep kids out of trouble. We'll be bringing everyone videos addressing these things in the months ahead. Hope you'll stay tuned for more!

      I agree with your point about the internet raising them.
      The internet is also responsible for taking away a whole lot of patents.
      Parents who would rather stick their nose in their phone that do the most important job in the world...being a mama or dad!!
      As far as gangs go....that is not new. One of the many reasons Big Bros/Sisters was founded to help keep kids from feeling that gang life was their only option.
      There were other options in this case. I think locking him up was the worst decision ever.
