@iandelaney6125 The conditions under which he houses these inmates are no different, and are in fact better than those the US troops deal with. Troubled through my youth and early into adulthood, I myself did 16 months in MCSO custody. It was nice to be able to go outside, feel the night air, socialize with others etc. it wasn’t all bad.

If there's one thing I know is that harsh and inhumane conditions in prison do not translate to lesser crime in the streets. Seeing these documentaries is the proof of that - countries with the toughest prisons always have the highest crime rates.
It's because prison is full of psychopaths. Psychopaths are immune to punishment learning, they have no fear conditioning due to hypoactive amygdala. So the best way to motivate psychopaths is with reward, reward em when they behave well, punishment doesn't work.
@@starboiklem8381 With all due respect, I think you missed my point. Prisons are full of psychopaths all over the world, in other words, the number psycopaths per capita is the same in prisons when comparing the countries (or I assume it is). I was saying that harsher conditions and punishments doesn't mean the country is left safer or with less crime - meaning it doesn't really looks like a long term solution from crime problems.

I’d put the boys in pink and the girls in blue . What’s wrong with eating the same stuff when in prison? I would give them a multi-vitamin once a day and a PB&J sandwich for every meal lol
I feel like if they know they are just going to keep doing illegal things, they will just move to a different area so if they go back to jail, they know it won't be that one
It’s a cycle. What else can you do after having your record tainted. You can’t get a job anywhere so you’re screwed and have no other choice but to sell drugs to survive.
That's because they are mostly drug addicts in for possession. This should be used on criminals that can be reformed. Drug addicts need rehabilitation services not heavy handed incarceration it doesn't work for them. It would work on younger offenders, dealers, petty crime.
They fundamentally dont understand that the goal of prison is two fold: to punish and rehabilitate. This prison only does the first one - cruelly. Rehabilitation is completely neglected so most will likely be back.
I looked it up, their recidivism (=re-offending, going back to prison) rate is about average by US standards ~40%. Not the highest but not the lowest either. What's really weird is recidivism seems to have nothing to do with the politics nor the demographics of a state... some examples: California, Missouri, South Dakota, Utah all have high recidivism. Michigan, Texas, Rhode Island, Mississippi all have low recidivism.
His programs didnt just have the lowest recidivism in the state, he had the lowest recidivism rate in the country. The media shows these " awful " conditions, but what they dont show is the huge number of former inmates who say they turned their lives around after being in tent city. But that isnt a catchy story so they ignore it

This is the same man who has been suspected of failing to investigate serious crimes as a sheriff , more than 400 sexual crimes including sexual assaults on very young girls. He was also suspected of mismanagement of the prison’s funds. The list of claims against this man are as long or longer than some of the records of the inmates under his guard.
You know what, I can admit when I'm wrong.. So for my previous statements I apologize.. This man goes way beyond punishment, has no priority of change/rehabilitation.. It's sad to say but he is a true sadist smh
"Im still here, the tents are still here and they aren't going anywhere" Ok Joe, thats why you lost relection and ur tents were shut down permanently. 🤣 👍
YouDontKnowMe can’t imagine what you think of actual murderers, pedophiles etc then. what i mean to say is: some are just one-time offenders/young adults that end up paying and suffering more than some others that have done way worse. going to jail really changes people’s outlook on life - for the worse sometimes. whatever though - i cannot be bothered to sit here and discuss this with you further.

Weren't you sensible enough to come to such realisation in a less humiliating prison ? You might be the exception ,because it seems it doesn't work to keep most ex convicts on the straight. Would like to see the numbers (if they are published that is) about repeat offenders from this facility , or how many actually die there. Or those who leave Arizona and continue to commit even worse crimes in other states.
Not pretending to be a liberal woozy .....murder ,rape and repeat offenders might deserve such treatments , but for someone landing there for a 'petty' crime is unnecessary torture.
Why is it that crime is not as rampant in most nations that treat prisoners more reasonably than some U.S. prisons ? Might it be that crime is seen as something that can be made money of ? The countless judges ,attorneys , and everything associated with it ....
