      I just switched to this flip phone yesterday and after ~10 years with a smart phone I can say that I feel finally feel I have my time back. I had an iPhone before and I'm absolutely grossed when I put it in my hand again, that "thing" is a time suck, a mental health deterioration machine. I'm so happy to be free of notifications, endless scrolling, feeds, "likes", mobile social media, messaging, dumb apps that think you need their attention. I'm so happy to be a bit more connected to real life again.

Can't even buy new because the phone I'm after is out of stock. I've never missed my old blackberry devices more than now.

    I'm pretty techy with computers....but as a "grown up" lol I've always refused to have a Smart Phone. People can't believe I don't have one. But life is getting a tad hard now - not because of Covid, etc. but I like to order groceries, etc. on line - hate grocery shopping - and they call when they're close and all that. Sometimes I need a cab when I'm out. All that good stuff. Long story short I bought this and it's great (more expensive of course in Canada). Don't know why but I always feel a bit self conscious when I pull it out - I really haven't seen ANYONE here with a flip. As I'm a bit of a fashionista....someone DID ask me and I looked at her, smiled and said "Say what? they're in fashion now". She laughed too.

      The Motorola/Lenovo G5 is also having a removable battery. It was my first smartphone. The years before it I used a simple Nokia. Because I didn't care anymore...
      In my youth and I bought a new phone every year, sometimes two. For the World Cup in 2010 I bought a phone were you could watch TV, via DVB-T. The LG HB 620 T.
      I switched to the G10 about one year ago. Just because I thought it's about time to get a new one and there was a special offer on Amazon. Also I got used to Motorola and really liked the phone, I wanted the new phone to be a Motorola too.
      While the screen of the G10 is bigger and ultra-wide _(21:9),_ the resolution is only 720p while my much older G5 had a 1080i solution. I didn't get that at all...
      I want to digital detox again, like I did until 2018 with my little Nokia. I also used an Alcatel during that time. I think I'm gonna use this one, this time.
      It's not a smartphone but it still has certain internet features. I think I'm going with this one...

    Good review.
    Please clarify exactly how T9 works on this phone, as it seems to vary between manufacturers. I've used HND's 3310 rehash but this is a different operating system, I believe.
    So for example to write the word 'job' do you only press 5 once then 6 once then 2 once? Or does it require 3 presses of 6 to get the 'o' and 2 presses of 2 to get the 'b' ?
    Also, if I want to write a word with an apostrophe such as don't, is it automatic or do I have to go through a menu to create the abbreviated word?
    I've watched a ton of reviews on this phone and not a single one answers these questions, so thanks in advance, I appreciate your help.

    • @Kara3405
      @Kara3405 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marky Mark On most flip phones including this one, to write the word ‘job’, for example, you have to press 5 once, 6 three times, and 2 two times. And to write any word with an apostrophe, you do have to go through a separate menu

    • @MobileTechPodcast
      @MobileTechPodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The battery is tiny so you can't really hotspot for much more than a couple hours. Also, this is a basic LTE phone, and the data speeds are slower than a smartphone, even on LTE. I don't recommend buying this for the hotspot. Use it as a backup, but no more.

    I wonder if you might know that answer, or perhaps your viewers might: I just bought a new Go Flip 3 and it's been charging for several hours. There's nothing to indicate that it is in fact charging. It feels warm, which I know often happens when batteries are charging.
    Is this normal? How long should I expect to wait with a new phone before something at least lights up so I know it's working?

    • @MobileTechPodcast
      @MobileTechPodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the phone anymore, so I can't remember, but most phones have some kind of battery meter or animation on the screen when charging that appears when you hit the power button.

    • @DrMerle-gw4wj
      @DrMerle-gw4wj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are two ways. With the phone off and the charger plugged in. press OK and a display will come up on the screen showing the current percentage of charging. With the phone turned on, go to Settings then select Device. This will tell you the current state of charge whether the charger is plugged in or not. There is a third way which will just show charging but not the percentage. When the phone is turned on, at the top of the screen next to the display of how many bars, you will see two square brackets enclosing something looking like a spark.
