- First of all, just wanted to thank @dsavaproducer for editing down 6 hours of footage to under 20 minutes so I could get this video done.
I am so grateful for you.
Secondly... here's the link to my coloring pages. You can download ANY OR ALL OF THEM and color them in digitally or traditionally.
Just have fun.

Oh, and I'd love to see how they come out, so please tag me if you post it.
Thirdly (is thirdly a word?) go check out @RedsReferences for wonderful references (but be warned that not everything is age appropriate so ask your parents if you're under age).
And finally, here are links to more references (both free and paid) that will hopefully inspire you to make art

Please don’t underestimate the impact of your “content”. It’s not just entertainment, it’s part of the mood, the landscape of my life and I’m very careful who and what I let in there. I wish you and your family a happy Christmas. 🎄
Thank you. ♥
My current art class assignment is to make an album cover…. Who told you?!?
Wow same here
That‘s so cool!
Ooh!
I'm entering high school next year please new teacher I don't know do this please please please
The Gothic vampire painting and a hair journal page are on the wall in my room! I love them ♡ that Medusa is probably my new favorite piece of yours(though idk if i could ever have a favoritethey'reall insanley beautifu). It's BEAUTIFUL. I'd love for it to join my collection eventually!
Your art is so much more special to me after hearing the story behind it and the motives, etc.
I just got back from a VERY overwhelming christmas party (lots of little kids...it was very loud) I really needed this longer video to zone out and have some downtime. Your voice is so calming and makes me feel like everything's gonna be ok :))
Thanks Scott
BEAUTIFUL piece!! ♡♡♡
Thank you so much! ♥
Thank you for drawing and painting you teach me every day. I watch your videos how to draw and paint you act so kind you’re like the grandpa I never had.❤
Ah. Thanks
OUGH, I absolutely love the expression here and the thought process for medusa. It conveys so much so strongly and its beautiful.

A fun fact about those long underscales on snakes is that they're necessary for movement. So even though breeds of "scaleless" snakes exist, they cannot be truly scaleless as they keep those underside scales for movement.
Your art is sooooo incredible! It’s amazing to me how you ink! I’ve learned a lot from you! I would love to see you talk about other places you get references!
You'll love this one, then

I love the gothic vampire piece so much, I have it framed above my art desk!! (I have the dragon and centaur framed in my room as well) It's really nice to have such great art on the walls to inspire me
Oh wow!Thank You
coloring in medusa digitally was a breath of fresh air for my creative flow! i'm absolutely in love with this piece; i've definitely said it already but you really did capture the emotion so beautifully
I love these longform videos. Thanks for this beauty, Scott. I'm excited to see the finished Medusa.
I love watching you work
Thank you!
I truly appreciate this video. the slow, focused, kind way its framed. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us. and big thank you to donna for helping you get this out. she truly is the best of us
I appreciate that! And yes, she is.
Your musings about your art also resonates with me and my work as a musician ❤
This is turning out amazing, @Scott Christian Sava! If I had the means to, I'd suggest this for our band's first album- we're launching it sometime next year &, honestly, the emotion captured here really hits our vibes head on... maybe it can still be a thing- with enough talking to my manager & all, I would be honored to feature your artwork for our visual representation.
I freaking loved this video Scott and the art is breath taking! I love the emotion captured and this really inspires me to paint! I think today will be a all out creation day based off the hype this gave me. Thanks for what you do and the long form content drop!!
Thank you so much, Chuck. Doing long form is so much more work and I just can't seem to find the audience for it.
I'll keep trying from time to time.
@@ssavaart Hey man do you in any form! Im gonna show up for it all my friend!!
Keep going Scott you bring a smile to my face every time you post a new video it makes me happy merry Christmas 😊😊🎅
Scott: “I haven’t draw very many snakes before.”
Also Scott: *draws beautifully majestic snakes* (yes, I know he made mistakes, but the way he bounced back from them is incredible. Good job Scott.👍)
Ha. Thanks
Yass i always love ur inking Scott! This one looks especially great! 😃👍
I love art because of you! Thank you so much for creating this amazing community, it really has had a massive impact on me and my art, as it has for so many others :)
So relaxing! Your art is healing, special, don't put yourself down Mr. Scott!
love this slower format, very relaxing and fun to watch
YAAAY, more longform!!! Ty for the video scott
I wish you and Donna a very merry Christmas
Same to you!
I cant stress enough how beautiful this is, When I first Saw this, sketch in your instagram, It activated feelings i didn't know could be activated. I, despite my age, Have seen many arts of people like picasso, van gogh, da vinci etc. but this, this is the one that made me feel something. It speaks, It speaks to my heart. And this sketch, despite it's incompleteness, is the most grandest Speaking painting, I have ever seen. Thank you, Thank you so much. I cant stress enough over the fact, that this speaks to me, in some the heart has never heard.
Thank you! That means a lot to hear. ♥
HOLY COW IM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS PIECE!!! as someone who waited too long to purchase posters and missed out on the Medusa hair journal, Im really hoping this becomes a poster :D
I love your art Scott! It was a delight watching you draw Medusa. Funny enough I asked my friend to make me a drawing of Medusa for my new tattoo recently! Keep up the good work, watching your videos always inspires me
Amazing commentary! Your narration on your process is top shelf. I admire that you own your mistakes, adjust, and conquer on an epic scale. Fell in love with this piece on Insta and it’s pretty special watching it come to life. 🙌💚☺️
Thank you so much! ♥
Hi scott i love your video's every time i watch i feel more passionate in my art
You are such an inspiration. You are part of the reason i keep making art even when it doesn't look perfectly like how i want it to!
Reds References is so amazing!
I've tried starting with an idea but end up spending ages looking for a reference to fit what I want. I invariably end up *glueing* 2 references together, which I don't quite have the skill to pull off yet.
Instead, I've realised it works better for me to start looking through reference pictures with a vague idea of a prompt. Once a pose jumps out at me I can then build on it and the end results are, in my opinion, much better. I'm so glad to have found a process that works for me
I love how you take us through your process! I truly admire you and your work!!!!💫🌈❤️
Thank you so much! ♥
Brought a tear to my eye! Youre so awesome
Keep going Scott you bring a smile to my face every time you post a new video it makes me happy 😊😊
Thanks Scott! I'm so excited for this one!
Thank you! I'm excited to be sharing this journey.
You are so inspiring,thank you❤
Today, I did my very first watercolor painting that wasn’t just a page in a small sketchbook. The drawing had been sitting on my desk for two days, until today, when I finally felt brave enough to start. I made a mistake at the very beginning-I almost gave up-but I didn’t. I finished it! It’s not perfect, but I learned a lot.
Your content is such an inspiration to me. It helped me realize that the artists I admire make mistakes too, and that’s okay-it’s not the end of the world.
Thank you!
This makes me so happy. ♥
Having to Google and stare at a bunch of images of rattlesnakes is horrifying😂
Truly!
maybe im biased, but this would make for a killer post punk album cover
I don't know how it would work with watercolor, but Brush and Pencil's powder blender can put the white back on the paper and keep the tooth of the paper
You inspire me to do art I wouldn't dream of drawing, but im glad I found your content, merry christmas.
This is AWESOME Scott ☺
Thank you!
I am currently watcing this to procrastinate on doing the colors for an artwork, i am going to color it in now
Your art is so cool
Thank you for this and for all you do.
uncle scott! always rockin
Thank you for this. Your videos have prompted me to return to making art "just because".
I really liked the longer video usually I just watched you in shorts and also I feel you with the snakes 😔
I just got to see the trans- Siberian orchestra live, and this inspired me to paint the drummer of that band
I’ve seen TSO a couple times, they have the most amazing concerts!
I just bought my first watercolor palette today so im looking at your channel for inspiration lolz
BY THE WAY i love your art
Awesome! Thank you!
I’ve made a few album covers back in my design days. This will definitely be useful to someone.
Maybe the community can make our own songs and submit it as an album.
nice! now i need to make a rock band so we could use this as our album cover!
I think this would Have made a really sick album cover for Styx Back in the day.
oh my god what i would do to have Scott illustrate an album cover for me, a literal dream
In my "youth" there was a glam rock band named "Sweet", they had a song named "Medusa"!
Sweet was amazing. They also did Ballroom Blitz and Fox on the Run!
I don't remember Medusa. Will go check it out
@@ssavaart Yeah, I loved them so much. Had all their albums, until all was taken away during my military service!
Only Andy Scott is still alive and touring! Medusa was in 1974 on the vinyl album "Desolation Boulevard", A-side, track 4. I really liked the album art on the later albums.
After Brian left, Sweet was more or less dead! Sad how one dumb decision from one rowdy drunk audience member can destroy everything.
@@macdieter23558 That is so sad
How do u have the patience tho draw the scales
I don't. But I just do like 10-30 minutes at a time and then walk away.
I love how this painting feels like an Ancient Greek sculpture, which I think makes it fit into the Medusa theme even more
❤-Johnny
:)
So excited
I just learned how to paint and i immediately wanted to paint this in why am i doing this to myself??
Question for anyone: briefly, I'm 46--haven't done any sketching, drawing, nothing in roughly 20 yrs. I have so many ideas...how does one pull themselves from feeling "frozen" in order to begin? I have the supplies, but I have so many ideas, I get frozen trying to decide what to do--any suggestions? (I hear you guys saying, "just start", but if it were simple, I wouldn't be here asking!) thanks in advance
My advice is to do small 1 hour projects. Get used to finishing something.
Fill up a sketchbook. Do a themed sketchbook like this.
th-cam.com/users/shortshgMwKIkx6RU
Just get used to starting and finishing a painting.
Once you've done that enough, start on something larger.
But, doing SOMETHING will get you out of the "stuck" phase.
Yay!!!
I have really wish for longer content of you ❤
I agree that we traditional artist hate digital artist 😂
But I kind of hate you to, scott 😄 cause your "bad" art is better than my brat art 😂😂❤❤
You would be good at Ambessa from Arcane - I felt a similar vibe from Medusa 😅😊
What type of pen do you use for inking I’ve been experimenting and it’s always smearing
Zebra Brush Pens. They're waterproof and I love them. I get them from Jetpens and I put a link to them here www.ssavaart.com/art-supplies-list
Hope that helps. ♥
@ thanks so much
9:30 i’m curious, why do you place a paper towel under your arm? does the ink smudge?
Good question. No. But the oil from my hand will get soaked up by the watercolor paper and make the watercolor do weird things when it comes time to paint.
@ ohhhh, okay, that makes sense. i always struggle with connecting cause and effect in my own art. i guess that just comes down to making more stuff than i do and experimenting, but it’s gotten quite difficult for me to delve into painting because of this :,)
i really enjoy your thoughts on your process anyhow, it always inspires me so incredibly. i’m looking forward to seeing you color this piece!
Thank you for your honesty. Also, you were justifying so much why your drawing wasn’t perfect. Have you seen a Picasso or any other piece of art that looks an absolute mess? I’m not a fan of those, your piece is much better. However attempting to do hyperrealism is somewhat pointless nowadays, when anyone can just snap a photo and edit it. Keep your art artistic, and the more you do the things that make you happy, the more authentic you will look from the outside and people who vibe with it will appreciate it. Great piece of art!
“Destruction of Troy” sounds like a band name to right?
hi can i ask what is the pen that your using in this video??
That’s one of his zebra brush pens (I believe it’s the extra fine one) you can find them on his site’s supply list. If you’re asking how I know, I have the same pen 😅
@Die_Hard_Historian oh... thank you very much☺️💛
I have a question.are these inking pens refillable or have only one time use?
One time use and I've never run out of ink. I usually destroy the nib first
@ssavaart 😃.
I wish these would be refillable .tossing pens out feels like wastage to me.i am teaching myself to draw with inking pens.i try to take mental notes from your videos.
Maybe casein paint could work better for cover up?
Does it reactivate with water?
@@ssavaartIt doesn't when cured. You have to use thin washes as it can crack.
Draw Tyler, The Creator album cover
❤
Hii
Hello
Wow! Your drawings are so cool and beautiful! (^∇^) I wanna draw like you someday! ♡♡♡
