Omg that kind of stuff is so fun! The stuff I drew on when I was a toddler was mostly furniture so I can't access that stuff now lol. But I still have a small Hello Kitty sketchbook that I had drawn in when I was about 7 years old, and the stuff I drew was so ugly (in a cute kind of way lol). One of them was a pink pegasus cat, and I've been wanting to redraw it, these many years later....
Can we all take a minute to appreciate how much Martina has grown as a person, communicator, entertainer, the showmanship skills, the humor. I even got a little emotional during the NordVPN add when she made that joke about the missing pinkie. Martina, if you're reading this, you're awesome! You probably accepted by now that you're a role model for so many, and this alone means the world to someone that is trying to grow out of their shell. I still remember close to a decade ago, hiding the hand, being shy and looking down a lot. You're the living example of how to flourish. Saying it's just your godlike talent is unfair - the dedication and hard work that started before you could eat chocolate without permission is the real inspiration hundreds, if not thousands of your THREE MILLION well deserved subscribers, will pick up on.
I second all of this! 😁 First discovered this channel back in the book-binding days, and it's been a joy to watch it expand exponentially into one of my favourite things!
Couldn't have said it better myself. If I was in awe after every project/ painting video, now I appreciate them even more! There is obviously a skill progress over the years so for the first two painting it makes sense, but for the 3 year gap progress, which I remember how amazed I was from the original one? this is beyond amazing to me.
!!! I remember when the channel was very new & she was embarrassed about the finger or lack of it & did a lot to try to hide it! She has grown so much confidence & comfort being front & center of an audience! (Personally I think this channel should have Way More Subs than it has!❤ I can't say enough nice things about her‼️🦄👏👏👏👏👏
I went back 3 times because I swear I saw his name on screen, but the portrait is just that recognizable that I think my brain just overlayed it or something haha
As a young child I drew a LOT. my dad would bring home a ream of paper for me. I'd sit at the kitchen table and draw every day. My tiny Catholic high school did not have art classes, I still drew some, but I ended up with a job all through high school and got caught up with music. Art faded away. In my twenties a couple of different girlfriends urged me to draw again, I dabbled with pen and ink, maybe completed ten or twelve drawings, then life got in the way. (Again.) On February 7, 2023 I turned to my wife and said, "I think that I'd like to try painting with acrylics." We went to a local art store and picked up basic supplies. I need to point out that I NEVER tried to paint before. drawing with a pencil or pen is waaaaaay different than painting. The following day I sat down and painted a path through woods under a full moon. It was pretty bad, but I didn't stop. Tomorrow will mark thirteen months since I started my painting journey, and my current works are decent. The other day I completed painting number thirty-five. The beginning of May I will turn sixty-five years old. I regret all of those years that I did not paint or draw. Just do it!
You critiquing your own art makes me realise mistakes don't define your skill level. When i look at my own art i see these mistakes and think "im so bad" ... but I know youre extremely talented, yet you still see and recognise your own mistakes without letting them hold you back. Its inspiring! as you always are
9:36 I LOVE the way you go off screen like a supporting character wizard in a movie trying to find a potion that the main character might find useful 😂😂😂
Each time you painted something, I was like "surely it can't get better" AND THEN IT DID!! I am absolutely OBSESSED with these paintings, I can't get over how incredible the lighting on the dragon one is. You never fail to blow me away!
Okay but is it just me or it's truly wholesome and cute to see her happy and really amused at her own work. Like YES YOU GO MARTINA THEY LOOK SO GREAT YES
Martina: I'm gonna paint something! Me: I want it! Martina: *50% complete* Me: I would sell my kidney for this! Martina *100% complete* Me: ... unconscious on floor from amazing overflow The combined video-editing skills from Hansi and Martina's god-sent charisma and artistry gives me life.
Every video, she gets part way through the project and I'm thinking "That looks pretty cool, but normally they're better than this..." then she goes in and does the details and suddenly it's transformed in a way I don't entirely understand and there's the masterpiece I was expecting. I think it's basically just that I don't understand the process of making art...
@@LaurencePlays Yeah the initial stages are often called the ugly stages in art where you're just laying down the groundwork for the piece (the base colours with little amounts of shading). It's when you start playing with your shadows, highlights and details that a piece will come alive. Those initial layers are the map, to place where things are going to go.
As a fellow artist it was very validating hearing you also struggle with huge gaps in your want to draw/paint. I have almost a 10 year gap after high school of nothing. However I’ve been reteaching myself 😂 side thought: if you ever pick up that witch project again, it could be fun to do with your patrons. Keeping each other going with inspiration could help and be super fun
i agree, i feel the same way 😅 almost my entirety of high school i spent none of it drawing at all. a few sketches here and there but pretty much only 3 or 4 finished pieces mostly cuz i was always super behind so i had to use that time to get caught up in homework lmaoo
Apart from the art being astonishing, the best part of this video is that Martina has all of her past artwork neatly ordered in folders. Martina looking through your folders you can see a brilliant progress in skill and style, thank you for sharing this with us all, it's been magical.
@@Nerdforge I'm not sure wich way you have to take. But you should really consider painting for "Magic the gathering". It would be so cool to have your own card.
Always big energy from Martina but especially with the repaints here you could tell she's very passionate about her art journey its awesome to see how much you've improved! Great work!
While you were painting that Dragon, I was in aww of how amazing it was and was wishing that I could own it. Then bam! You're letting us buy prints. Ordered!
The moment I saw that the dragon would be a limited edition printing I paused the video and bought one on the spot. Martina, you are so creative, natural, funny but most of all talented and authentic. Thank you so much for sharing your imaginary with us. I would 100% get lost in those worlds you create. Until the next video, I’ll rewatch all your older ones. 🤩
I love all of it. The video idea, the paintings of the young Martina, the new paintings and how you recomposed them (super cool idea with the angle at the second painting with her looking down at the viewer). And, as always, your character and the editing and camera work in the video.
If you're wondering what's wrong with the face in the first one it is likely only this: Basically her entire back is shown. Her neck is broken if we see this much of her face and that much of her back. So you'd honestly have to adjust the entire pose to fix it. Make the back more at an angle so this head angle fits better, or vice versa I'm surprised you went with a different pose instead of just redrawing the front facing one in your old art.
As soon as I saw the canvas size for that dragon I knew it was going to be a print lol. It will definitely go perfect with the 100 hour painting. Its almost like it tells a story from fighting the dragon to praying for all the lost soldiers under the tree. Beautiful work as always Martina!
I'm amazed you actually kept all those old drawings. I never really felt compelled to keep my drawings when I was a kid. I either gave them away or tossed em in the trash. The fun part was doing the drawing. After it's done, there's not much else to do but look at it and say "yep, I drew that." And honestly, I still sorta feel that way. But now I usually hang on to them, especially if it's something that might inspire another drawing.
When I started watching the video, seeing all your old drawings, I was thinking about how I wish I had started drawing more consistently early on in life. Since I didn’t really start until recently. It’s just so cool to see your process through time & it’s inspiring. But what I found more encouraging, is when you shared about the gap in years or months you went through without drawing & your inner struggle of wanting to do more to improve. That really spoke to me because it reminded me that we are all in our own journey & it’s okay to go slow or fast, there’s no real expectations except the ones we put on ourselves. Because at the end of the day, this is a marathon not a race. So It’s always nice to remember to enjoy the journey & the progress we make daily instead of beat ourselves down. ✨thanks for sharing your beautiful work & if you read this, I hope you also find this encouraging or anyone else that might read this 🫶🏼✨ You’re doing great! Keep going 🤍✨
The way I've kept up my sketching is taking my sketchbook with me when I go on holidays and sketch the marble statues and carvings and so on in museums. Statues are amazing for me, because its a bit like life drawing on easy mode since the lines are all so crisp and it's monochromatic so its easier to get all the details correct. I went to Istanbul a couple years ago and had great fun drawing part of Topkapi Palace, because strangers would stop and look over my shoulder while I worked so it had a nice social element as well! It's also great as a way to force yourself to linger and appreciate museums and historical sites more mindfully. I'm not particularly talented but I've kept up enough practice over the years I can slip back into it easily enough and it's always been a fun creative outlet.
I can definitely relate to the ebb and flow of motivation. I get it myself with making TH-cam videos, woodworking, photography - sometimes I'm really into it and then other times I just want to do something else... I think that's normal, and if it's "just" a hobby then that's absolutely fine. Enjoy the highs and wait out the lows.
As a minipainter myself, I can tell you that it is completely normal to undergo these periods of lack of motivation and thus, self-shaming for not doing things. I'm in a middle of something similar atm, due to the fact that I moved from our new house, I stopped painting for several months now (because you know, cardboxes, work in the new house and all this) and I'm struggling to get back into it. I lack the self confidence atm, and I'm afraid to produce something far worse than I did right after stopping, because it's been weeks since I painted. A friendly local wargaming club is proposing a painting contest ending in about a month. I decided to enter it, and then the inspiration (and so, motivation too) went like crazy :D So, do not ever doubt yourself and, more importantly, do not feel shame because you're not painting/building/whatever fancy your biscuit ! It all must remain a PLEASURE, not a burden ! You must feel motivated and excited by your hobbies and passions, not ashamed or stressed :) Hope this will help others that undergo these feelings, even by a little :) Cheers from France !
Martina! Those paintings are so fantastic! You are so skilled and you've made amazing progress. I also want to tell you, that every time I watch a painting video of yours, I always get so inspired and motivated to paint. I have tried to paint some of your past artworks to learn and improve, and I really have. So I wanna say a very big THANK YOU! I'm excited to see what you make next time C:
I have to tell you how much I enjoy and become inspired by your videos! Painting and art in general has always been such a vital part of my life, especially during the most difficult times - recently I lost both of my parents due to terminal illness and although I’m 42, this has been the most painful journey I’m learning to navigate….I lost myself and with that, I lost my inspiration to create…and then I started watching your channel. Thank you for inspiring me again to Connect again with my creativity, it is truly helping heal and meet myself again. You are amazing and I always look forward to seeing new content. Sorry for the very long msg. lol.
I was watching the last painting, and I was thinking “wow yeah, that is really good!” and then you just kept going and I was like “You can add more to this??” I was so impressed! Great video!
for some reason even though it isn't the primary kind of content you make and I don't paint at all, your painting videos have always been my favorite content of yours, it's just so satisfying to watch your process!! I hope this has sparked some motivation for you to do more painting videos! (and if it hasn't thats okay, it'll come when it comes I get that so much
Thank you for sharing about your struggles with motivation, I'm fifteen and struggle A LOT with feeling motivated and to do art, and not being a perfectionist. In the past I have just thrown away or given up on most of my artwork and creations because they were not exactly how I wanted. But I have just started painting again, and I am so relived to hear that I'm not the only one who has struggled with this.
Thank you for your infectious enthusiasm and sharing your talents, self-criticisms and accomplishments with us. Wonderful fiery dragon in the Year of the Dragon. I could see how you were in the flow zone painting the details and light on the neck/head area. The high contrast and dynamic composition makes this one my favorite of the 3 and yes, way better than the one from 3 years ago. love n peace
We ordered your Defiance painting for my daughter’s 14th Birthday this weekend. She did not know I ordered when you put the video out. Her mouth was so wide and she was so exited to get a dragon painting and one from one of her favorite Utubers. I wanted to say thank you!!! You made her Birthday.
Martina, what an inspiring video! It was so lovely to see your artistic progression from childhood drawings to your stunning work today. The patience and dedication you've shown toward improving your skills over the years really comes through. Each repainted piece highlighted your excellent progress in areas like anatomy, lighting, composition and color use. But beyond technical skills, your passion and love for art is what really shines. It was wonderful to share in your enthusiasm as you unearthed drawings from the past. Your joy is contagious! Thank you for giving us this intimate look into your artistic journey. Videos like this are so valuable for fellow creatives seeking motivation. I know this video will encourage many to keep practicing and pursuing their dreams. Wishing you all the best moving forward - can't wait to see what you create next!🙏🏻
Amazing video. The Witch series is an amazing idea, I think it would also make for a great video, I really hope you follow up on it, I would love to see paintings in different color pallets of the Witch archetypes, some examples that come to mind: 1. A high society witch, performing a spell while reading a book 2. A potion brewer/alchemist in a laboratory 3. A tribal witch, performing an animal sacrifice, somewhere in the savannah, surrounded by her tribe 4. A solitary witch in a swamp, communing with the spirits of the dead 5. A mountain tribe elder witch healing a sick child with poultices 6. A forest witch, dressed in bark and animal furs, communing with animals 7. A seductress ancient witch, that steals the youth from an unsuspecting victim. 8. A dark coven of three witches casting a curse I think you have a pretty awesome idea, there is a large variety of witches that could make for some great paitings. (I stopped at 8 ideas, but I think you can easily find more, if you don't already have them)
It's easy for me to get discouraged and compare myself to others' incredible art levels because my art skills are so underdeveloped. But this really inspired me to remember that, like anything else, art is a skill that needs to be honed and developed; and therefore it's never too late to improve. Thank you Martina for always being such a bad-ass inspiration!!!!!
I can totally feel you ❤ Every time I see Martina I try to pick up my paints and just draw 😊 Last time I even tried a face thinking this isn’t proportional at all (one eye was bigger and one eyebrow lower), so I went down to the bathroom washing my hands, being all disappointed, then I looked in the mirror and realized that I totally forgot I have one eye that is bigger and an eyebrow that is lower 😂 after that I realized even imperfections can be nice, so this won’t get me down 😊 Next time I will try a fire bird and compare it to the one I drew when I was fifteen and unicorn I made when I was fourteen, this video totally hyped me up ❤
I don't know if this would help you too, but I hardly follow anyone who paints, does Cyanotype or linoprinting because I too feel never good enough when I see what others do with it. I do, however, follow other art forms to get inspired and motivated. I know I'll never do ceramics or stained glass work, so I can be in awe of what they make without the pressure of not measuring up to their skill level. Their work motivates and inspires me to create in my own way
Exactly 💯🫶🏼We should be proud of our progress & appreciate our own improvements. We should only aim to be better than we were before & not anybody else. ❤love this ✨
I love dragons and you do them so well! I used to doodle them all the time and always wished I was better but I could never dedicate the time or mental focus on it. So, I watch people like you create them and enjoy the process. I've got your other dragon painting, Final Breath, so I had to get this one to add to my wall. Can't wait till it gets here!
I am the exact same way as you when it comes to motivation! When I was younger I was drawing pretty much every single day, but now at 26 I’ve been in a years long slump (2-3 years I think) where I just haven’t had the motivation or drive to draw anything. It’s honestly been a bit difficult to realize that that’s just gonna happen sometimes, especially since I do love being creative. I think it’s mostly my mind that’s holding me back; I’m not good enough at the basics of art (anatomy, color theory, composition etc.) to transfer what I have in my head onto paper/canvas/screen, and then that discourages me from actually trying to learn those basics properly (also because I have a terrible memory and as a result I don’t learn things very easily, so things just take longer for me. Retaining information is very hard 🫠) I’ve been sort of satisfying my creative side by building and making characters in The Sims 4, but it isn’t quite the same as being able to create something almost exactly as you want it when you draw, since it is a game and it has limitations 😅 It was very reassuring to know that someone else also has this issue of motivation 💜 And omg, when you talked about not wanting to make art if there’s an obstacle to get started!? Like moving stuff off off your desk so you have room, or having to dig around to find your supplies because they’re not easily accessible! That was so damn relatable to me! That’s exactly how I feel a lot of the time, especially if I’m in the mood to make digital art on my iPad but it isn’t charged or something (even though I fully charge and turn the power off every time I’ve used it, but I guess it loses battery by just lying around 😑) Anyways, this was such a great video idea! It’s always fun to see people’s progress over multiple years, especially when it’s this well documented 😂
This is honestly something i'd suggest any creative person should do. Like it doesn't have to be painting, it could be woodworking, ceramics, or game development. Going back and looking at old work and remaking it with your current skill set really helps you understand how far you have developed in whatever you have been doing. It's also really nice to fix up mistakes you made with those projects.
These are awesome!!! So much improvement - loooove the dragon one the most (both versions!!). I'll try to say what I see for the two parts that you think could improve, but no idea if this actually helps: - For the first one (fish lady), I think the lighting on the face is off, maybe that's what's bothering you? Looks like for the face it's almost a straight on lighting, but for the clothes, it's more of a backlight. - For the dragon rocks, I think it's also the lighting. On camera, the rocks appear more gray/cool toned compared to the rest of the painting. Maybe darkening the rocks would help, and outlining the borders red like you did the dragon?
9:40 i feel exactly the same in my roleplaying writing. I didn't write my main rpg for like 2 years and now the motivation is back nearly like before ! I really loved the "confession time" like Bobby Duke Arts does it. Really nice to hear about you ❤
The three paintings are absolutely amazing, I just love the details on the fish in the first one and the Dragon on the last one, just wow. The level of detail on that beast and how "real life" it feels, the proportions look so much better than the original one. You did an incredible job there Martina. The only tiny thing that I would say I didn't like is in the second painting where the doll is all red and it's not painted in the colours of the traditional Alice costume, so you can't really see that's it's Alice.I love the new dramatic Queen of Hearts, she is simply gorgeous, but if you cant identify that the doll is Alice, it makes it a little hard to connect the idea of who the other one is since you only get the heart jewel on her forehead as a clue to the character. But well, me being nitpicky because I love the Alice story so much, Id like for it to be a little more clear. Oh also, the dress that looks like armour, so well done. Me wishing Martina would do a cosplay of her own character, would be epic. Can anybody else totally imagine her dressed in black and red?
This was super cool. Like someone else said in the comments here, it was cool seeing how you critiqued your own artwork. Your mindset of 'its okay, I have improved and im still growing/learning' is awesome. Thank you for including your mistakes, like regretting adding the tail and showing that you can still correct it. Painting is kind of intimidating for me because you cant use an eraser. 😊 Thank you also for having the clock so close to your easel showing how long it takes to create such artwork. Sometimes I get impatient thinking I'm taking too long and should be faster. And thanks for your personality and positivity.
The print has arrived this week😁. Perfekt timing, since it will be one of the birthday presents for my daughter (turns 9 in a few days and loves your videos). Thank you!
Super fun and awesome paintings. For the final piece the left side of the painting i really like the softness and lack of details, gives sense of scale while leaving focus on the fighter and Dragon head. The rocks under the fighter feel like there is now sharp edges yet the texture of them seems to be calling for it.
One thing I can’t get my head around is how so many artists go from awkward proportions of anime characters and wonky faces to suddenly photorealistic faces. The speed between the two steps is jarring. So impressive though!
This might be my favourite video of yours so far! I love the updated art and remaking old art is just one of my favourite concepts for a video, but also the pacing of the video makes it just really enjoyable to watch!
When I see your timelapse and you stop it for a sec and show off the results so far, I am like, damn that looks good. And then the details just get piled on, so incredible.
my favourite part in all your paintings is right at the point where I would have considered it done if I were painting it, and then you go back in with the details! I always know you're going to add more but it blows me away every single time!
15:45 i think the bugsome thing about the tiny buildings on the left is that they make the perspective look wrong. if the dragon's body is towering over normal sized buildings in the distance, its head should be enormous in the foreground with the knight.
Just when I thought painting 2 would be my favourite, you drop painting 3 😍 Btw about the head pic 1 , i think the hairline is to high, the forehead should appear shorter when viewed from below. Also, if the shoulders are square to the viewer the head turns to a profile maximum, so it is turned a bit unaturally. Im not sure though if these are even the points bothering you 😅
I watched the Dragon one three times and it occurred to me the part that looks off to you is probably the bounce lighting. If you look and the underside of the dragon where you have the flame colors on the smoggy area it should bounce up along the main body of the dragon more directly same with the rock needing a little more of a yellow bounce. -Ren
9:07 i just want to say that i personnaly really love big hands and i love how big they are in the painting. I do myself tend to draw big hands in my style so i just really really love them in this painting
I think it would be really cool to see you try to maintain the style, composition, and medium as well in order to get a real comparison of skill over taste. While all of these are marked improvements, they are more a reflection of the maturity of style and composition over actual skill/talent. Really awesome to see all of this! Thank you for sharing
I really appreciate how much effort you put into your artwork, that's probably the main thing that gets overlooked when it comes to being an artist is how much time and effort you put in because everyone else just sees the finished work, very beautiful pieces of art, I hope you continue to do what you love and I hope others get inspired by your talent through these videos❤️
I remember being so amazed by your original dragon mural, it’s crazy how much you improved with your new painting, I didn’t even notice back then the proportions, but it’s a much more menacing piece now
On your last painting there was a pause and I thought that was it, and I was thinking omg Martina this is awesome. Then you started adding more details and I literally yelled out "This is f***ing sick!!" I am 25 and hope to be as skilled of a painter as you one day.
The human brain doesn't stop developing until someone is 27 years old. Comparing the paintings you did at 25 to 28 years old is totally valid! Well done! : D
Nice to see another system of a Down fan, always knew you where a Metalhead! I hope your Musik taste didn't Change as much as your art style --- hehehe . . . If I now would try to repaint one of my childhoods "creatins" propaly, I'd probably need over a week XD
I really wanted to revisited this video since my copy of the Defiance print finally arrived. See it was a really journey, my copy was stuck on custom office in Brazil and I needed to pay tax importation and additional fee to local courier. But all was worth it!
The second painting is so good. It actually reminds me a lot of a vampire from Magic the Gathering. (Particularly one of the families of vampires on the plane of Innistrad)
Martina, Another “Tour de Forge”. Although you have definitely become a master (mistress?), the glimpse into your early art shows that the raw talent has been there from the beginning. Another video that had me smiling from the beginning all the way to the end! My face hurts. And now it is time to watch again 😜. Thank you. Keep the aspidistra flying! God bless, Paul
You have definitely improved over the years. It is always fun to go back to childhood art and reimagine the artworks. I still have all my drawings over the last 30+ years (I'm 40) I sometimes redraw them. I'm also the same and get supermotivated and draw like a lunatic, then burn myself out and not create anything for ages. I went 2 years without touching a pencil once. I just create when it comes.

9:36 I LOVE the way you go off screen like a supporting character wizard in a movie trying to find a potion that the main character might find useful 😂😂😂
Haha yes! Hurrying off-screen like Garrick Ollivander having an idea of exactly the right wand for a new wizard!
5:20 That is Serj Tankian the lead singer from the very awesome band called 'System of a Down'.
Very awesome music.

The combined video-editing skills from Hansi and Martina's god-sent charisma and artistry gives me life.
@@LaurencePlays we muggles don't get magic
@@CriticalShorts Hah, you're right! It's like making buttercream... You put in loads of work and nothing happens... Then suddenly boom! Icing!
I just want you to know in 5 years you're going to cringe super hard at this comment and it's okay
Man, I can't even imagine being talented and persistent enough to get good at anything. You were already incredible and professional level at 15.
Just got my print in the mail and came back to watch it getting painted. Looks so good in person. Hope you do more of them in the future.
I was thinking the same! I’m suspecting her mom might have helped a bit? Now I feel like I really have to organize my daughter's drawings…
That's all thanks to my parents, I had no part in this :')
@@Nerdforge I'm not sure wich way you have to take. But you should really consider painting for "Magic the gathering". It would be so cool to have your own card.

While you were painting that Dragon, I was in aww of how amazing it was and was wishing that I could own it. Then bam! You're letting us buy prints. Ordered!

And now I embark upon the obligatory SOAD listening odyssey...
I want to have a little baby who is smart like her
I love all of it. The video idea, the paintings of the young Martina, the new paintings and how you recomposed them (super cool idea with the angle at the second painting with her looking down at the viewer). And, as always, your character and the editing and camera work in the video.
If you're wondering what's wrong with the face in the first one it is likely only this:
Basically her entire back is shown. Her neck is broken if we see this much of her face and that much of her back. So you'd honestly have to adjust the entire pose to fix it. Make the back more at an angle so this head angle fits better, or vice versa
I'm surprised you went with a different pose instead of just redrawing the front facing one in your old art.
I agree- also something about the forehead angle seems off to me. But it’s still like a 9.9 out of 10 in my book!
@@Firesignnaildesignyeah i thought the forhead was a bit indented, the painting is amazing though
Somewhere in my family there is a pizza box full of my old comics and drawings, and I just keep hoping it turns up at some point 😭
I decided to enter it, and then the inspiration (and so, motivation too) went like crazy :D
So, do not ever doubt yourself and, more importantly, do not feel shame because you're not painting/building/whatever fancy your biscuit ! It all must remain a PLEASURE, not a burden ! You must feel motivated and excited by your hobbies and passions, not ashamed or stressed :)
Hope this will help others that undergo these feelings, even by a little :) Cheers from France !
Woo my print arrived today!! Coolest thing is you can even see the ridges of the canvas from the way it’s been scanned. Can’t wait to get it framed!
I always love watching redrawing/repainting videos, it's so cool to see how someone has improved and changed!
That was Serj Tankian @5:20 Lead singer of System of a Down
I have to tell you how much I enjoy and become inspired by your videos!
Please do more of this :D it was fun to see you recreate your art
Thank you so much for the kind comment! I really appreciate it 💜🙌
I really wish you had talked about why you made different choices for the first painting, or your overall process of adapting to your current style.
your shading has stepped up so much, especially in the last 3 years. All the paintings have so much detail ans look so realistic! Love your art ❤
Amazing video. The Witch series is an amazing idea, I think it would also make for a great video, I really hope you follow up on it, I would love to see paintings in different color pallets of the Witch archetypes, some examples that come to mind:
1. A high society witch, performing a spell while reading a book
2. A potion brewer/alchemist in a laboratory
3. A tribal witch, performing an animal sacrifice, somewhere in the savannah, surrounded by her tribe
4. A solitary witch in a swamp, communing with the spirits of the dead
5. A mountain tribe elder witch healing a sick child with poultices
6. A forest witch, dressed in bark and animal furs, communing with animals
7. A seductress ancient witch, that steals the youth from an unsuspecting victim.
8. A dark coven of three witches casting a curse
I think you have a pretty awesome idea, there is a large variety of witches that could make for some great paitings. (I stopped at 8 ideas, but I think you can easily find more, if you don't already have them)
I love how, especially in this video, you can see a doodle of her ideas turn to something most of us couldn't do in our dreams. We love you Martina!
I can totally feel you ❤
Every time I see Martina I try to pick up my paints and just draw 😊
Last time I even tried a face thinking this isn’t proportional at all (one eye was bigger and one eyebrow lower), so I went down to the bathroom washing my hands, being all disappointed, then I looked in the mirror and realized that I totally forgot I have one eye that is bigger and an eyebrow that is lower 😂 after that I realized even imperfections can be nice, so this won’t get me down 😊
Next time I will try a fire bird and compare it to the one I drew when I was fifteen and unicorn I made when I was fourteen, this video totally hyped me up ❤
I don't know if this would help you too, but I hardly follow anyone who paints, does Cyanotype or linoprinting because I too feel never good enough when I see what others do with it.

That dragon mural was what introduced me to your channel and I’ve been hooked since, it was incredible to watch you go back through time!
Retaining information is very hard 🫠)
I’ve been sort of satisfying my creative side by building and making characters in The Sims 4, but it isn’t quite the same as being able to create something almost exactly as you want it when you draw, since it is a game and it has limitations 😅
It was very reassuring to know that someone else also has this issue of motivation 💜
And omg, when you talked about not wanting to make art if there’s an obstacle to get started!? Like moving stuff off off your desk so you have room, or having to dig around to find your supplies because they’re not easily accessible! That was so damn relatable to me! That’s exactly how I feel a lot of the time, especially if I’m in the mood to make digital art on my iPad but it isn’t charged or something (even though I fully charge and turn the power off every time I’ve used it, but I guess it loses battery by just lying around 😑)
Anyways, this was such a great video idea!
I'll try to say what I see for the two parts that you think could improve, but no idea if this actually helps:
- For the first one (fish lady), I think the lighting on the face is off, maybe that's what's bothering you? Looks like for the face it's almost a straight on lighting, but for the clothes, it's more of a backlight.
- For the dragon rocks, I think it's also the lighting. On camera, the rocks appear more gray/cool toned compared to the rest of the painting. Maybe darkening the rocks would help, and outlining the borders red like you did the dragon?
9:40 i feel exactly the same in my roleplaying writing. I didn't write my main rpg for like 2 years and now the motivation is back nearly like before !
I really loved the "confession time" like Bobby Duke Arts does it. Really nice to hear about you ❤
THOSE ARE SOOO AWSOME MARTINA!! You do such incredible artwork! You actually inspired me to try and improve my drawing! These videos are amazing!
perfect example of „practice makes perfect“ love it ❤
The three paintings are absolutely amazing, I just love the details on the fish in the first one and the Dragon on the last one, just wow.
Thank you also for having the clock so close to your easel showing how long it takes to create such artwork. Sometimes I get impatient thinking I'm taking too long and should be faster.
And thanks for your personality and positivity.
I just got one of the copies of the last painting, and it is *insane* in person! Love it!
Watching you draw these pictures was like peeping into the windows of your past , I can tell your art truly comes from the soul.❤
The middle painting is sooo beautiful, I would love prints or merch of that 🥰
I don’t know, that dragon looked absolutely sick.
You have a fantastic eye for detail! Love all of these art pieces!
HER 2 HAIR COLOURS MIXED TO GET PURPLE!!!🤩🤩🤩💜
The dragon legit gave me chills
One thing I can’t get my head around is how so many artists go from awkward proportions of anime characters and wonky faces to suddenly photorealistic faces. The speed between the two steps is jarring. So impressive though!
This might be my favourite video of yours so far! I love the updated art and remaking old art is just one of my favourite concepts for a video, but also the pacing of the video makes it just really enjoyable to watch!
When I see your timelapse and you stop it for a sec and show off the results so far, I am like, damn that looks good. And then the details just get piled on, so incredible.
Serj Tankian System of a Down 🤘🏽 seen them in concert.
Good grief.... you drew better at 12 than I do at 60. Amazing stuff as always.
That's what we call talent.
my favourite part in all your paintings is right at the point where I would have considered it done if I were painting it, and then you go back in with the details! I always know you're going to add more but it blows me away every single time!
15:45 i think the bugsome thing about the tiny buildings on the left is that they make the perspective look wrong. if the dragon's body is towering over normal sized buildings in the distance, its head should be enormous in the foreground with the knight.
the color of the dragon looks amazing!
Just when I thought painting 2 would be my favourite, you drop painting 3 😍
Btw about the head pic 1 , i think the hairline is to high, the forehead should appear shorter when viewed from below. Also, if the shoulders are square to the viewer the head turns to a profile maximum, so it is turned a bit unaturally. Im not sure though if these are even the points bothering you 😅
You drew that at age 12? Thats way better than anything i've ever drawn in my entire life
I watched the Dragon one three times and it occurred to me the part that looks off to you is probably the bounce lighting.
When Martina's drawing she did when she was 12 is better than ANY one I could do currently at 26 😆
Love these videos 😍
I was gonna say...she's hogging up al of the natural talent.
I think it would be really cool to see you try to maintain the style, composition, and medium as well in order to get a real comparison of skill over taste. While all of these are marked improvements, they are more a reflection of the maturity of style and composition over actual skill/talent. Really awesome to see all of this! Thank you for sharing
Love this, Martina ❤ The paintings look AMAZIIIIING ❤
I really appreciate how much effort you put into your artwork, that's probably the main thing that gets overlooked when it comes to being an artist is how much time and effort you put in because everyone else just sees the finished work, very beautiful pieces of art, I hope you continue to do what you love and I hope others get inspired by your talent through these videos❤️
I remember being so amazed by your original dragon mural, it’s crazy how much you improved with your new painting, I didn’t even notice back then the proportions, but it’s a much more menacing piece now
5:25 that's serj tankian?
Thought that too
I too
Pretty sure that who that was.

On your last painting there was a pause and I thought that was it, and I was thinking omg Martina this is awesome. Then you started adding more details and I literally yelled out "This is f***ing sick!!" I am 25 and hope to be as skilled of a painter as you one day.
seeing your art through the years and how much you’ve improved is actually inspiring me to work on my own art
that missing finger gag in the sponsorship section was soooo funny! i literally laughed out loud!
The human brain doesn't stop developing until someone is 27 years old. Comparing the paintings you did at 25 to 28 years old is totally valid! Well done! : D
The dragon painting would look so cool as a metal print, also it’s amazing!
I see a little Way of Kongs influence on the 3rd one. Loved them all! Youve definitely improved a ton, even the last 3 years.
My favorite drawing was the dragon with the sunset castle the boy getting fire breeds on him by the dragon so freaking cool!
Isn't the guy in 5:20 Serj Tankian? Vocalist of System of a Down?
Nice to see another system of a Down fan, always knew you where a Metalhead! I hope your Musik taste didn't Change as much as your art style --- hehehe

Martina,
Another “Tour de Forge”.
God bless,

What's your height pls?
You have definitely improved over the years. It is always fun to go back to childhood art and reimagine the artworks. I still have all my drawings over the last 30+ years (I'm 40) I sometimes redraw them. I'm also the same and get supermotivated and draw like a lunatic, then burn myself out and not create anything for ages. I went 2 years without touching a pencil once. I just create when it comes.
Martina, these are absolutely incredible! Especially the last one has me absolutely blown away!
