    The two ladies doing backup vocals could go on tour themselves. What a legacy.....Clapton in the 60's with White Room, 70's with Layla, and 80's with She's Waiting. All three songs were memorable for me at different stages of my life.

    That second solo is the cleanest and here's why: The way he mixed the A major & minor pentatonic scales is almost inseparable. You can't tell the difference between the two like that! Just insane!

    • @joeylau7578
      @joeylau7578 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      in rock most power chords don't have a major/minor identity--hence the 1-5-1 power chords. blues scales are built similarly to pentatonic so i don't think he's even thinking about pentatonic scales when playing, he's just going for the smoothest blues lick that comes to mind

      There were some great performances at Philly, and if they'd chosen a better opening song Simple Minds would have been a contender for day's best.
      Ultimately though Clapton was the USA show stealer. More remarkable as his set consisted of a song he'd never performed as a solo artist, a flop single and song on release not actually credited to him.

    A young Marcella Detroit on backing vocals (nearest to Eric).
    She was called Marcy Levy then.
    She later came to fame as one half of Shakespeare's Sister before releasing the excellent solo album Jewel, containing a killer version of I Wanna Take You Higher.
    Phil Collins took the idea of human endurance to new heights by playing in both concerts via Concorde.
    Clapton is standing back from the mic as he later said it was live and shocked him at the beginning of White Room.
    He looked and sounded together, a stark contrast to a shambolic appearance by a drunken Jimmy Page shortly afterward.

    I love reading comments about Clapton's incredible voice. He was developing in Cream but since then he really went for it. Now he is a very powerful vocalist! I think the Band and Bonnie and Delaney were a source of inspiration.
