Eric Johnson may have something to say about that, I get you though I’ve had the pleasure of rocking out with Eric Clapton since the late 60s they don’t make them like this anymore
@@marybillingsoldaker5600 You're welcome, Mary. Your husband was a great drummer and made awesome music with Mr. Clapton. He's in the Rock 'n Roll section of heaven right now, playing with the greats! Take care.
How can Clapton be so refreshingly unpretentious? There he is, God, as they say, and doesn't feel the need for affectation or mannerism. Maybe I just answered my own question.
My guy ! Donald "duck" Dunn is feeling all that ! Still grooving on this 4-6-23 at 2:55pm from Hagerstown Md with a little help from God finnish greenery 💨💨💨

joan dingledine hey, sorry for the late reply. I just listened the Core. Its amazing, no comment. His solo there is so nice, also, the riff of the song is like... Hats off. Thats him. Love
Had no idea Clapton did this great number in 85 - got the complete Clapton on CD - early stuff and most recent - so fresh and electric! A fantastic god of soul-rock legend, must be a fool to not have this in your cd collection. Feel so high on electric dreams right now.
1985 This was when, I believe, Clapton was at his zenith as a guitar player. The things he is doing on the Stratocaster are remarkable. Only a few years ago he confessed to an interviewer that he is now incapable of playing as technically as he once did as a younger man. A good performance, a marvelous song, and a very good record album, "Behind The Sun".
Even if Eric Clapton himself said that "he is now incapable of playing as technically as he once did as a younger man," this guy was, is and forevermore shall be one of the greatest rock artists of all time. Everyone slows down as they get older, and I only wish that we ALL could age as gracefully as he has. Hell, the man's going to be 70 years old this month, and he STILL shows no signs of slowing (slowhanding?!?) down. One of the things I love about Clapton is that his guitar playing has always been, and still is, meticulous, and his voice is as good and strong as ever. At least he doesn't try to come off like some has-been jackass by dying his hair black, strutting around on stage in spandex clothing, screaming off-key lyrics like a banshee, using over-produced sets as smoke and mirrors to hide an obvious decline in abilities and talent, and trying to look, act and sound as if he were still in his 20's. Certain rock stars just can't let go of the good old days, when they were allegedly in their "prime," and many of them sounded like shit even way back then. Not only that, as much as I've always liked heavy metal, you have to admit that many of the dudes, both old and new, who try to throw down on their electric guitars are just plain sloppy. With Clapton, it's quality over quantity. IMO, he's still as good as he was 50 years ago. (Jeez, can you even BELIEVE he's been around for that long?) Bottom line, this man is a class act who puts most of today's crapulous guitarists, with their convoluted "riffs," to shame. Whether he's at his zenith or his nadir, I'll always respect his talent, artistry and contribution to rock music over these many years. And if he ever retires, we lowly mortals might as well throw in the towel and call it a day! I BOW DOWN TO THE GUITAR LEGEND -- ERIC CLAPTON !
Tigger Too Yes, Tigger Too, I agree with all that you've said about Eric Clapton the guitar player. I'm an old guy and have followed this man since his days with John Mayall. It was Clapton, more so than Hendrix or any other guitar player, that introduced me to the Stratocaster and gave me a taste for the blues. Cream and Blind Faith were both favourites and I still sit down with this music to listen and to play along. But, no - LOL - I'm not going to "BOW DOWN..." to any person, even someone like an Eric Clapton. Even though he was in an offhand kind of way referred to as God.....he's not. He's just a man with a huge talent. Have you read his book, Clapton: The Autobiography? I recommend it. Thank you for the comment. I appreciate all that you have to say about one of my favourite guitar heroes.
+larkyleroy He probably realized the pace he kept as a younger man (and drug and alcohol problems) would simply kill him if he continued down that path, so he learned from others who slid on down into sick land and never came back. Think he's done a lot of good with Crossroads festival, but of course he's just a man.
I just wished at 4:12 they would have shown Jamie rolling on the drums. Im his playing is outstanding though the whole thing but at 4:12 he just showing off
I remember this "Behind The Sun" '85 Tour well I caught him at Nassau Coliseum. One of about seven times Is saw him play. My 2 favorite performances though was the 'slowhand' tour in '77 and the A.R.M.S Benefit Concert at Madison Square Garden in '83
I hate all the play his "big hits" get. he has had so many over the years. This is one of my favorite. I hate that so many big artists, yuppies only know of their most over the air played. At this point, Eric Clapton had so many songs that were..cross generational I will say, electric on some, but easily could go acoustic. Don Henley, sunset grill is another to come to mind.
1:50 The C major chord he holds is just insane! The pinky strength is understandable but how the hell do you fret it whole with index? Years of practice is the answer but it's just insane!
BACK UP SINGERS ARE AMAZING
Marcy Levy has become one of my favorite female voices of all time since I heard her sing duet on the core when it came out.
@@Davesworld7 She is amazing
Marcie “Stella Detroit” Levy
Underplayed and underrated love this song and the Core is treated the same
300% true!!!

Coincidentally Marcella (Marcy) Levy played on both songs. She made the Core, the Core. And yes, you are a true Clapton fan.
Marcy and Shaun are So good!
Their harmony is on point !
This never gets old... great song!!
The absolute BEST guitar solo in rock history. Perfectly structured, every note has its place. 2nd solo! Slowhand be the MAN :-)
