Anyone who underestimates Eric as a guitar player just needs to watch from 4:55 to 6:20, and then rethink their opinions. He plays with such conviction and purpose, putting his heart and soul into every note.
@@TheOpinionatedGuitarist that is not the point, my friend. It is about the comments. This solo has great parts - but for Eric it is sloppy with lots of mistakes. Any pro would say that
@@glenferguson8014 I do not understand the answer. Could you clarify it a bit, please? I do not know what it means "marching powder". What did you mean by that?
1990 Melbourne's Rod Laver arena. My second time as 1987 was the first. Must have been the same age as I'm 54 in October. What about the sustain guitar effects in White Room of the same tour, blew the audience away!!!
Great to see Nathan. East on here i am not sure how far they go back but Nathan is always smiling and he and Eric just instantly sync. Pure love of music.
+Cathy McCoy Me too, I was there. I'm actually putting together a Journeyman album tribute show in 2016 in Connecticut. I will be EC. Really looking forward to this.
Getting ready to debut my new band "Wonderful Tonight" The Eric Clapton Experience. We are doing our first show on Friday Sept. 2 at The Strange Brew Pub in Norwich, CT. I'm so looking forward to this.
the reason the albulm is named journeyman is because Sir ERIC Is THE JOUreyman one of the most prolific guitaristst of all time.. He is ONE OF THE BEST.. ///
Musically genius as always, but I really enjoy the smirk he throws at Nathan for their back and forth...which actually lead to this, Clapton's best vocal performance of this song that I've seen.
"The Rig Doctor" did a good video on how to get the 80s/90s Clapton tone with modern pedals. Check it out. Since then Soldano has come out with an overdrive pedal.
Eric looked so fine in his custom-made suits. Very classy dresser. Now, not so much. He needs to shave his grey/white beard. Makes him look older. He just doesn't seem to care about his appearance anymore.
WHAT? I hear Eric singing. He doesn't do Lay Down Sally anymore either. You think because he can't sing it? He really doesn't like singing a lot of his pops songs anymore and kind of concentrates on doing the blues. Also it is DARYL as in Daryl Hall no e it.
He played some absolutely iconic lead lines on the studio track that is disappointing not hearing any, as well as several sloppy riffs in this performance. This is not his norm. Every artist is human and will have a few clunker notes, but unfortunately, this one had too many.
True, he is uncharacteristically sloppy there, but I loved this performance because of the go-for-it attack that led to that trouble. If I may, I recognize when you get to the perfect number of drinks and you feel like a million bucks and you can just let loose. I enjoyed seeing what EC played from out there. Of course, if he was already sober then I'm an idiot. 😁
By far the coolest Clapton period
Eric's playing and music is simply timeless , sounds great then, now and always. Not only is he a legendary guitar player , he has a great voice too !
LOVED the era when EC dressed for his gigs... I know he's almost 70 but he cleans up really well... and is still amazingly handsome
His switch to soldano amps during this time was great. Gave the Strat some balls
Agreed. His best tone was in the late 80's to me.
Yep and the mid boost on his strat too .

This Clapton sound is my favourite.

Especially that lick at 5:28
And if you listen to 2:32, 2:41, 2:51 and 5:40 you can hear some wrong notes that should never happen on this kind of professional level.
@@joe22589 the sloppy parts that he didn't mean to do are what make it cool, he more than makes up for it with that part around 5:30

His tone during this period is under-appreciated. Clapton's voice keeps getting better. I hope Clapton tries Soldano amps again sometime.
¡I was there! First big concert of my life, I was 25...sniff, sniff...so young, damned. On thursday I'll be 54, how time flies.
Bit of argentina marching powder and some clapton ..priceless...
