I had this for about 4 years on and off - I thought It would never go away. Now I’ve fully recovered after doing yoga, paying attention to the weight I carried (my backpack was unnecessarily heavy and I used it almost everyday) and sleeping correctly (posture). Helped me immensely! Hoping a full recovery for the rest of you all - the pain is unbearable

A decade ago I had a 9 month episode (piriformis syndrome). I didn’t know what was going on and continued to aggravate it with daily activities until it was unbearable. When it was finally diagnosed, I found a manual for physical therapists online and tried everything. I stuck with the exercises and stretches that felt good (hip abduction was key for me then), added lower back support cushions to everything I sit on, removed caffeine and other stressors from my life, started swimming laps (breast stroke for hip abduction), eventually started running distance and climbing mountains, and it became a distant memory. So keep doing the work, you can recover.
4 weeks ago it came back from digging a ditch. I’m doing all the work but it’s different this time because it was caused differently. Your channel has been so helpful to get a different perspective on this! This time it’s a combo of piriformis and SI so dead bug exercise variations are my best friend right now 🙌 Hoping this passes soon, feels like I’m on the downhill.

I'm 40 and a week ago I got sciatica for the first time in my life, the pain is really unbearable and I'm really scared it's going to stay forever, I'm in bed and only go to the bathroom and kitchen and do physio exercises in bed, I noticed that after a hot shower there is improvement of a few hours. The truth is I did not expect to receive 2022 with such a "gift". The video encouraged me a bit that it would eventually pass because I actually got into anxiety and depression because of it. It's hard to be confined to home and nursing.

I was at gym daily up to Halloween, and Wham woke up one nite with intense "Charlie horse" type electric pain that lasted for hours on end, for three weeks barely slept, thought I was going to have a breakdown. My back Dr put me on a strong Anti-inflammatory, and OxCy to help me get thru the worst. I am on Week 9. One month ago I got a Steroid Epidural in Spine, and I think that helped most. Don't let this go too long, even now I am still struggling with the same sensations down buttock and leg, knee, and both legs are weak. Managing one walk a day, can't do stairs. Went from Athletic to laying around the house all day. If the pain is intense get something from your Dr to get you through the worst. Hot shower and heat helps me alot. I see Ortho Surgeon this week. GET an MRI too while you are at it, mine shows spurs putting pressure on nerves

The hot bath did help at 1st but not so much anymore plus I'm scared after so many days awake of falling asleep and drowning in the tub. I hope by some miracle something helps fast.

Wow me too. I got sciatica a day after my birthday Jan 11. I had My Sister, drop me off at the ER. It’s been about 3 weeks now and I only can walk in the house. Short distance. Then I have to lay back down. I can’t go to physical therapy because I don’t want to re-injure my sciatica by walking. If I walk for two long The electricity and heat begins to go down my leg and thigh to my foot, that’s when I know I need to head back to the bed. Although it is better than what it was at the beginning. However I am hopeful it’s going to get better, After I came from the ER I could barely walk, and how to get straight into the bed. I could not sit up stands for long. So to be able to go to the kitchen it’s helpful for me.

I had sciatica for about 4 months last year. I was in pain anything I stood up. It came back about a week ago terribly. I couldn’t even sit or lay down. Was in horrendous pain for about 3 days straight. I would recommend you all try running. Lose weight. That’s what helped me the first time. I know as soon as I get a little bit better again I will go back to running and losing weight. The stretches help temporarily because we are giving the nerve space to breathe, but losing weight will also release stress on the nerve. Also Marijuana helps

I’m having the same thing currently. First week could not walk or move was almost in tears. Utterly savage pain. Second week lower back fractionally better but hip and leg still having very sharp pain and cannot sleep or get comfortable most of the time. Highly annoying. Taking ibuprofen and paracetamol for the pain but doesn’t seem to do much. Also don’t want to be taking tons of meds really. I’ve had back pain quite badly for a long time since my twenties (over forty now) but it’s never been this bad. Second week off work as I can’t sit or drive or concentrate due to the pain. I’m hoping it recovers soon it’s an awful thing I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone (well maybe I would depending on what they’d done)! Savage.

Now I m 42, it s been 13 months now, tried meds, physiotherapy, anti inflammatory epidural injection. and last June i had the disco gel treatment. I started swimming. I feel much better 90% of the pain is gone. The real problem is that the nerve was so irritated that it keeps sending pain signals to the brain (but nothinng that the MRI revealed) I mean that nerve treatment is taking long, sometimes our brain is playing a silly game to us...there s no inflamation but the signals are being sent for protection....The postures that we use during pain become a habit to our brai

I have a small bulge at my l5-s1. It is enough to push on the nerve and I feel the sciatica especially in my toes and feet. But I have healed a lot from a couple of things. My pain went from first a 3 on good days to a depressing 6 on bad to a 1 on good days and 3 on bad.
A- it took 6 months to help it
B- I do core exercises that don’t require the hip flexors to activity (a modified plank with little strain on my hips) also slow and controlled crunches but I don’t lift to high. For my back I have a high enough love seat I can do reverse hyper extensions on to build strength back.
    C. I quit lifting and now do basic calisthenics like pull-ups and push-ups. Don’t squat! I was a very good squater back in the day with a 425 lb atg squat without a belt and knee wraps. Now I’d be happy to even do 225 but in order to not be depressed about my strength loss, I do ALOT of walking forwards and backwards. My leg muscles are still surprisingly good just from it.
    D. Lose weight. I lost 25 lbs. I was a case of working to hard at my job and lifting weights. But I feel that a majority of people are from sitting to long and being overweight. I have a family member that’s 300 lbs and complains about back pain and sciatica issues. I can 100 percent guarantee if that person lost weight, they’d be in a lot less pain.

I am 71 years old and woke up with this one morning after doing some normal back gym exercises, guess I just did something wrong. Pain was very intense each morning and gradually improved the more I moved but felt like an electric shock each time I took a step. After two weeks of feeling awful I went to see an acupuncture, Doctor. After the first visit I had less pain the following morning. After 2nd visit, I again had less pain following morning. After 3rd visit most of my pain had gone away. I still have a slight (but livable) pain in my leg and a bit of numbness in my toes, but it was dramatic improvement that took less than 10 days total. I am going to back 1 or 2 more times and see if the doctor and help me more. I was HIGHLY skeptical of getting any improvement from acupuncture but was really pleasantly surprised by the results and would recommend others to give this a try. I was not getting ANY improvement taking steroids or Advil type drugs. Exercises were also not helping. I did take Gabapentin 300mg for a few days and it helped me sleep more than anything else. Walking helps a lot too. My regular MD was of no help at all.

Yes, agony. If possible, bend leg and stretch forward, both sides. I have PIRIFORMIS syndrome and gentle stretching exercises for the piriformis muscle, hamstring muscles, and hip extensor muscles help to decrease the pain along the sciatic nerve and improve range of motion in the hips.Once you get piriformis, expect relapse. I have found that if I do too many squats, I have a relapse. I am working on prevention now that I figured out what the problem is. I hope you get better soon.

I’m 82 in kidney failure so can’t take NSAIDS, so had to try with a mild AnaKhedive (Panadol).

I'll highly likely need surgery since i grew into an injury causing possible deformities on the damaged area. Plus I've been doing in-home therapy now for essentially a decade and my pain has just gotten worse this last year.

I've been in agony over Xmas. Have trouble sitting and my back and leg muscles go into spasms. Dr gave me diazapan and co codamol which made no difference whatsoever other than making me constipated.
Got a phone appointment with physio in 2 weeks. Surely first step should be a scan to find cause then treat? Only thing seems to help is tens machine

I have sciatica right now!!!! I’m still having to go too work it’s agony, I’ve tried stretching exercises but to no avail it’s that bad I can hardly walk at times. I’m only 48 and it’s getting me down I’ve also been told I can have injections to stop the pain from blocking the signals down my leg.

This is my second year. Pain progresed. Pain meds not working. Im now on gabapentin 300mg at night and still in pain. Started physical therapy again in November 2021. Epidural steroid injection did not help. Now I am looking for a pain clinic to help me. Having back pain 24/7 is debilitating! I have a disc bulge at L4-5 and L5-S1. Saw this new treatment for degenerative disc disorder but it’s still not covered by insurance. The treatment is discseel.

Had herniated disc ten years, before prolonged light traction fixed it. Got it again five years later, last may, this time, took longer, a year. So it worked again, not as well, still some sore. Going to keep stretching, so it won't come back
