I know I'm probably over commenting on this video but I really appreciate the video because I've had a lot of learning experience since I bought my cameras at the recommendation of another Uber driver and I keep my Cobra sc220 on where the Riders can only see the outside of the car because I don't want them to feel uncomfortable about there being a camera in the car and be I don't want them to know I'm recording them I've had some incidents where people have tried to assault me and things have happened where I said hey I have a camera but 90% of the time unless they ask they don't know they're being recorded unless they actually see the Uber screen that lets them know that I have dash cams in the car because I found it's a more peaceful ride with less incidents since I've had my own car. And the total number of incidents have decreased as when I had my Uber rentals I had many incidents to report of people doing shameful things in my car and I had no evidence so Uber did nothing about it and now that I have dash cams and I keep the screen savers on especially at night because the light is too bright coming out of the camera and there's no adjustment for that like there is on the inside of the car to dim the LED lights that way the only time it comes on is annoyingly when I hit a bump it'll lock the footage which means I have to format the SD card more often which is annoying but the regular Riders who pose no issues do not know that way if anyone wants to retaliate when I report something they don't necessarily know firsthand that I was the one that reported them that way since I drive around in some very dangerous areas if they see my car in the future they're not like hey that was the girl that turned me in. Also when Uber refused to let me drive passengers when I first got my car because I couldn't find inspection certificate I went to my local inspection station to have it re-inspected and the inspection people were like you cannot have the dash cam mounted there because it's illegal and they took it down with my permission but I put it right back up because I looked it up and it's fine it's not blocking the view it's small enough not to present a danger and I've moved it twice since and those stickies really are powerful and I haven't had to replace the sticky Mount and it's still going strong so definitely use the practice mount stickers that come with the camera so that you can decide what's the best angle and what's the best placement for your car and the intended use of the camera unlike I did and the car shakes so much on these horrible roads in our area I don't necessarily think a suction cup mount will do for my car my tripod has a suction cup mount and I have to readjust it all of the time because my tripod does fall sometimes I actually need a new one that fits better in this vehicle that I own now but it all comes down to what works best for you
As an Uber driver who swears by dash cam drivers, this was an excellent video for too many reasons to mention. This video should be viewed at least two times if you have not yet driven for Uber. There’s only ONE thing I disagree with and that’s the need for GPS, especially to measure speed. I recently had an accident with an Uber passenger in the car. The accident was not my fault (and that was very big thanks to dash cam footage) and my speed when I had the accident was not questioned by the passenger’s attorney (yes, they’re trying to sue me) because it was clear I was within the speed limit. If you’re a driver who drives within a speed limit, get GPS. If you’re not, then GPS might hurt you in an accident situation whereby speed mitigates your culpability. Other than that, this video rocked and mentioned so many nuances of what to consider in a camera purchase. I use a Vantru 2 Pro. It is an excellent dash cam. I highly recommend them if only because of the quality of the parts and the care they put into their line of cameras for when those cameras are baking inside your car in the sun. Vantru camera components are made to withstand this heat. Other cheaper cameras may not be and that’s something to watch out for.
The Vantrue N2 Pro can be an even better option if you spend about $20 more. There is an adapter called the "Windshield GPS Mount" that is an adhesive mount that adds GPS to the N2. It gets rid of the issue of falling because the suction cup and adds GPS.
I agree on all points. I have a vantrue front and cab facing. no back window camera. wifi is ok to have but I never use it. I put memory card in my computer also. I wish my camera swiveled. I'm only a part-time, noobie ride share driver but got a dash cam straight off the bat when I started. I also agree that I believe it is a deterrent for bad behavior. Even when the riders are my grandkids. lol
A must have guide in 2024! With people's limited attention spans only growing shorter gotta have evidence of all the potential shenanigans occuring on the road!
Ive noticed less incidents in my uber now that I have cameras on the outside of my car and other than a personal reason why I have it hardwired for parking mode I have noticed that people are less likely to come up to my car and caused incidents as well because they see the camera otherwise the parking mode is of no use to Uber drivers
Good morning Eddie, my wife and I live on my SSD due to a work injury in 97 therefore we technically live on a little over $600 a month for the two of us. I've been a professional driver since 18 years of age, I started driving a cargo van and worked my way in a short time from a van to a straight truck and most of my experience was driving long haul in tractor trailers, being disabled I don't drive as much, I drive 650 mile one way to from Eastern TN to the Poconos after relocating to Eastern TN because our kids/young adults and our grandkids and even though I was deemed disabled in 97, and as I'm not able to drive truck anymore due to my health problems and I drive those 650 miles one way to see our kids and grandkids out of love, but on the other hand every trip harder to make and I feel like I've been beat up and through the years I've found so many terrible drivers and if you could give me some advice for the best cheapest dashcam for to my income. If you could would you recommend a cheap dash cam as it might save my butt in the event of an accident or incident. You be safe out there bro
I like the vantrue n2, but I'd just keep checking amazon and i bet you'll stumble across a deal, they are always offering cheap cameras. Like i said, as long as you got a big memory card you probably wont go wrong. Good luck my friend! love eastern tn btw, i've been to knoxville and johnson city
Or have a back up sd card to change it out in the event your other sd card fills up, I have the largest cards my dash cams can hold and they fill up two or three times a shift my cameras are so sensitive so I keep backup SD cards in case I have an event that I want to save that I will switch the SD card out until I can get home to my computer to download it or use it for whatever. I wish I had watched this video first before purchasing my dash cams because I haven't been successful at linking either one of my dash cams the Cobra SC 220 or the rexing M1 Pro that is professionally installed to record in parking mode to the apps that they supposedly let you view the footage live and download from a cloud
I have the Rexing M1 pro hard wired because in the past someone in my life vandalized my uber rental and thats the only reason I decided to have it professionally installed to hopefully prevent him from messing with my pre-owned but new to me 2019 Honda accord hybrid touring while its parked and I am not in it. Uber didn't cover the vandalism obviously, and Hertz had no sympathy and says I owe them for the 2019 Nissan Rogue he "totaled" in hertz words and although there was enough evidence to proceed with criminal charges hertz has yet to press charges and go after my ex boyfriend and instead is coming after me financially so if that were not the case the parking mode isn't much help in an Uber related application because you only see the outside of the car in the back of the rexing M1 Pro Camera slides up and down and I have to get out of the car several times a day to readjust it so that you can not only see your rear view but it records the proper angle I tighten the screw several times a week and the more people slam my trunk when they get their luggage in and out of my car the more I have to adjust it so I definitely do not recommend the Rexing M1 Pro for anyone to purchase as it's been more of an annoyance and time-consuming to readjust the camera every day and the second day that it was installed the screws on the harness that holds the camera right above the back license plate were already Rusty which I don't know if the installers scraped the coating off the screws or the harness is just faulty but I don't recommend anyone by the rexing M1 Pro it was not worth the sale price that I bought it for on Labor Day if I had known all of the quirks that it had I would not have purchased it and now that I've had it professionally installed it's probably not returnable. I'm so busy working I don't have time to contact customer support because I know they have great customer support but I just don't have the time to call and see if they can send me out replacement parts or new screws because it definitely does not stay in place and sometimes when it's raining I have to take the inside camera off because if the back camera is wet you cannot see your rear view which is very dangerous for driving so sometimes I have to take it completely off which defeats the purpose of having hardwired rear view camera and the backup camera that is wired into the brake lights is not accurate and does not help create a better backup camera it's a useless feature.
Thank you. You definitely covered things I was wanting more information on
Thanks for this. This vid was super helpful. I'm in the market for a dash cam for my kid. ❤

The Eagles winning the World Series though.... I laughed so much. You're silly Eddie!
i suppose 1080p works just fine to identify license plate in front of ya, saves a lot of space.
Thank you.

@@Driver_Eddie thank you Eddie. I appreciate your response bro. Sincerely Joe Z.
Can this camera work ? When my car is parked at home?
