Chris Fix more like Chris Tips with how many helpful tips he gives out for things not fully adjacent to the install, like the polarized lens for example
You have no idea how much I've learned from you, man. I started watching you when i was 7 years old, and now im about to be 13. I have changed rear brake pads, front brake pads, outer tie rods, altinalter, and rear brake lines. I can't thank you enough, man.

@@chrisfix if know one said it I'll say it congrats on 10 million subscribers!! Monumental moment also are you going to have a special? Go job Chris👍👍👍😁
Also remember to turn on your microphone and if someone is acting shady or hits you say the license plate as the dash camera doesn't always get a clear picture of the plate.
One tip also about camera location for rain/wet conditions... Would be good if you could run washer fluid on windscreen, then tap the wipers and you're most likely always have that one spot on top/mid where wipers cannot wipe, so if you placed your camera there you might have almost useless camera during the rain... I did that mistake on my last vehicle so I had to relocate the camera, you always learn something new every day.. 👌
This is what I was thinking as well. I don't really want to mount a dash cam to the front windshield either. I would rather mount it to my actual dash with a mechanical fastener of sorts and not an adhesive fastener.
If your car has auto wipers, chances are the sensor is integrated into the mount of the rear view mirror. So that area does get swept by the wipers. Don’t hurt to make sure though
I used to watch your videos long before I had a driving license, but they taught me working on a car isnt all that scary. It's one of the reasons I hit the trigger on buying my 1984 ford escort, and doing the work on it myself! The fact your videos cover so many different scenarios, and not only explain what to do but also why that is the propper way to do it makes you the #1 DIY car YTer
ooh Escort, my favorite cars. My dad and his friends build ford escort mk2 for rally, kept it retro with ohc motor but they sleeved it to 2,3L, longer stroke with cosworth crankshaft to make about 260hp wich is most ive ever heard someone get from ohc motorn naturally aspirated without blowing up
I found your channel by accident, and it's awesome! I'm a lady in her mid 60s who knows absolutely nothing about vehicles and their maintenance. I am fortunate to have had the same mechanics for 15+ years whom are very thorough, honest, and patient. Last year I was in a car wreck that totaled my last car - I was T-boned by a guy running a red light. Legally everything went my way as to what happened and was cut & dry with plenty of witnesses, but since then I've wanted a dash cam. Even though I would probably have my mechanic install it, your videos are so clear, to the point, and easy even for me to follow that I now understand much of what were "mysteries" to me before. I made a long post but I really wanted to applaud you for your presentation and teaching abilities!

Chris, I've been watching your videos for the past couple of years now. You are truly skilled. Not only are you a great mechanic, electrician, racer, video editor, etc., but you are a great teacher as well. The way you explain is very efficient and to the point where someone can learn very easily. You have an extraordinary ability to teach others and have one of the best youtube channels to date.
My wife mentioned that we should get dash cams for our vehicles a few days ago. Here is Chris Fix with a dash cam install. I love it. Glad to see you back. 10/29/2024 Edit, I just installed the Vantrue N4 Pro with hardwire kit and CPL. This video helped.
I had my dash cam installed rather ugly with the cable dropping into the trim and across the dash. After watching this video, I fully popped out the trim and saw I had the camera all over the curtain airbag. Following the instructions and precautions in the video, I moved the cable and secured it properly and down into the glove box and out into the usb port under my radio. Thank you ChrisFix. This looks so much better and so much more professional thanks to your video.
This should be the standard by which all DIY videos are made. It is precise, articulately explained for everyone to understand despite their skill level, skillfully edited visually to clearly display what he is explaining, and most importantly, there is no add libbed and unnecessary verbiage or jargon. Absolutely an all around professionally-done video. 👍👍👍
I say let us pick the camera but they could include USB C power at the rearview mirror and a passthrough USB-C cable to the back. Would hate for a company to include a crappy camera that you cant easily upgrade and have to run a new one side by side.
I wouldn't want one that's $700 / month of the dealer feels like it. I know alot of performance cars come with them as a track cam but not a long term camera
For anyone confused, the code is for the $150 camera and you'll see a little save $30 coupon when you look at the item in your cart. You need to click on clip this coupon. Then you need to add the code he provided QEBGTPOH and that's a $20 coupon. Together they add up to $50 off the camera bringing the total down to about 100-110 depending on where you live and how much sales tax your state charges.
Yeah. That's not true. Using the price history website, they camera literally used to be 100. But right after this video came out they increased the price to 150. So there is no discount here. Only a scam.
Thankyou for showing me these videos im 15 and starting to get my permit and when i get my license i use the skills that you show me on your videos Welcome back
I was going to install Dashcams on my cars recently, and this answered all my questions and made me confident in installing them without any hiccups. Impeccable timing bud.
Fitcamx makes a dashcam that replaces your factory set-up and plugs into the OEM hardware. I purchased one for my new Camry and forget that it's there most of the time.

@PIPBATTLEFORTHEARCTIC the word repent simply means turn or change, God repents more than anyone else in scripture. Eternal salvation is a one-time free GIFT from God to whosoever believes on the Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ paid the price for our salvation in full with His death, burial and resurrection. Gifts are not paid or worked for by those receiving the gift! As soon as someone sincerely calls out to God for salvation thru Jesus Christ, that person is instantly saved, born again into God's eternal family. Our works(turning from sin is work) has absolutely nothing to do with obtaining salvation. Too many people and false religions refuse to acknowledge what the word GIFT means, only when talking about scripture.
I really appreciate how you told us to make our own informed decisions for a camera rather than a suggestion. So many people suggest subpar cameras, but you are not one of them. Your videos are always high quality, all the time.
Yep, most of the time your cell phone camera is a better option than what's on the market. It's getting better, I'm on my third gen of dual cameras, but objectively there's big differences that you frequently don't discover until a license plate is blurred in a freeze frame. Two 4k60 cameras can have big differences in the underlying hardware quality.
That reminds me I need to link those videos in the description! So many great YT Creators have awesome review videos. That isnt my job, I just want to teach you how to safely and properly install the dash cam so it comes out amazing!
Indeed, but this reminded me of a lengthy process already over 5 years back when selecting a dash cam and I decided to take Vantrue. And now ChrisFix installs the same brand of cameras. I find they do a really good job in terms of details their cameras provide, so you can easily see number plates as well. Maybe today there is more choice, but back then they used to be the best, for sure.
Excellent video, Chris! I had to find out all these things on my own when I installed my first dashcam. I would add a few additional things: - Take your time. Give yourself an afternoon to install it the right way. First time around might take you between one and two hours, unless you run into a snag. - It's good to look for dashcams that have a capacitor to power it for shutdown rather than a tiny battery for two reasons: First, because capacitors (usually they'll refer to them as "super capacitors") have a much better resistance to heat; and second, because those tiny batteries lose quite a bit of capacity over time and eventually won't have enough power stored to properly save the last file and shut down the system [this is for non-hardwired systems]. You end up with corrupt files that may not be viewable anymore. - If you have a choice between adhering to the window with a mount and VHB (or similar) high strength tape, or a suction cup, always go for the tape. Heat and time will cause those suction cups to come off the window at the worst possible time. VHB tape, on the other hand, can stay on for years and years with no issues *as long as it is applied correctly.* As per the directions, always apply the mount to the window without the camera first and give it at least 12 hours to "cure", for best results. Then mount the camera. Otherwise, it may come off in a few weeks. I've had mine on for a year and a half with no issues. - If you are in an accident, do not tell the other person that you have a dashcam. Let them incriminate themselves when the police get there and then you can show the officer what really happened. - Some dashcams include GPS capability which stores your vehicle's position along with the video data. It can be used to calculate your speed when driving. You have to decide if a GPS module would be helpful or hurtful to you. If you always drive within the speed limit, then you might be okay, but if you go a little over now and then, the GPS data might work against you. Most of the time, unless you own a fleet of vehicles and want to monitor your employees' driving habits, GPS is not needed or even desired. You can usually disable this feature within the menu system of the dashcam, or just disconnect the GPS module (or just get one without GPS). - Get the best quality dashcam you can reasonably afford, especially for night driving. Although lower quality dashcams are still useful,* it's usually better to get the best details you can. - Parking Mode is great, but keep in mind that this means your camera is powered 24/7. Some dashcams do not automatically shut off when the battery voltage drops below a certain amount. It doesn't use much energy, but if you are parked for a long time (weeks) it could be enough of a drain to prevent you from starting the vehicle. Get yourself a voltmeter and measure your 12V battery over the course of several days of parking to see how much of a drain it is with Parking Mode activated. [edit: Many 'hard wire kits' that support parking mode have a low voltage cut-off feature that will shut down the camera if your vehicle's battery voltage drops below a certain amount] - Triple camera dashcams, or ones that include an interior-facing camera, are especially good for Uber and Lyft drivers as they can be used as evidence for badly behaving riders, but for most people they are not necessary and could even be a liability (if, for example, it shows the driver temporarily not paying attention to the road). You'll have to decide if this would be a benefit for you or not. Fleet owners may also want this type of camera so they can monitor the behavior of their drivers to see if they're safe, paying attention, etc. - When installing the rear camera (if equipped), be sure you're mounting it right-side-up before sticking it to the window. Otherwise, your rear footage will be upside down. Sometimes "up" is indicated on the camera, but not always. * [Even a low quality dashcam can be useful because it can show the officer what happened, even if the other person's license plate number is not clearly visible. Unless they ran from the scene, their tag number is not as important as recording the events of the accident.]
THANK YOU CHRISFIX! I had watched some online videos for hiding the wires and while they discussed being careful with the car liner and running down the A-Pillar NONE of them mentioned the curtain air-bags. Sure enough, I had wired BOTH my cars as you illustrated as the WRONG way - where the camera wire would have impeded the deployment. After watching your video it only took me 30 minutes to properly pull off the A-Pillar inside moulding and correctly run and tether the camera wire to the factory harness in the A-Pillar - my curtain airbags are no longer impeded! THANK YOU AGAIN!
The video is 17 hours old and already has 2000+ comments? A testament to how solid Chris' videos are and how superb of a teacher he is! A request for a future time: do a video on how to do instructional videos "with common household electronics and software" (as well as whatever Chris is actually using). So many people do how-to videos and clearly have subject-matter expertise but don't know how to translate that to video format. A solid "train the trainer" video would be invaluable at helping everyone share the knowledge they have which would be a win for everyone else!
Finally man... somebody wiring their dashcam properly .... have seen a thousand videos on yt with people putting the wires in front of the airbag. Great work Chris.
This video helped me so much. 2 weeks ago, I saw a blue pick up truck got hit by a red SUV. And the driver in the red SUV slammed his brakes in front of me and then accelerated off. I managed to show this footage to the driver in the blue pick up truck and the police. This is the #1 video. Keep up the amazing videos Chrisfix.
One thing on the OBDII port adapter; I have sometimes seen it kill ECUs because the OBD circuit is not designed to be continuously supplying power. Use this method with caution.
Now you got me worried about my ECU being cooked because I bought an aftermarket head up display which connects to the OBD port but it’s only on whenever I start the car, and goes into standby after the car is off, power is still supplied :/
You should address a few things: 1. What to do in the case the cig lighter is powered all the time, such as having to unplug it at each stop. I see why you installed them the way you did the truck registered its cig sock as powered full time. 2. With the fuse taps you need to pull the fuse out and see which side is powered. You did mention it in the missing fuse location but if you just plug in the tap and not check the wire to the camera will be unfused. I doubt a lot of DIY people would have picked up on that. 3. There are more cars with bolts, or even one time use clips holding in the A-Pillar. Some Hondas for instance have you strike the a pillar with a hammer to break the clip before removal. 4. A lot of newer cars have lane keep cameras, or something along those lines by the mirror and people need to avoid them when running wiring, for instance if you want the camera on the passenger side and the fuse box is on the drivers side. Subarus even have a warning to not even touch their cover just incase you shift something. Thank you for addressing the over airbag wire tuck, it enrages me seeing it as it can be so dangerous. Id even like to test it or see it tested once with a slow mo cam. Maybe with dash cams being more and more popular one of the youtubers will do it. Other than that nice clean video probably the most thorough one I've seen, I'm not a fan of just tucking wires in like on your truck I would have still removed the A-pillar but thats nit picking.
I am just wondering when car makers will provide these basic 5 volts in the middle of the windscreen, so that no one needs to risk dragging the wire around to the fuse box. Nowadays, you get USB sockets instead of cigarette lighters, but installing a basic dash cam still turns out to be quite a process instead of just plug and play. Anyway, let us ask ChrisFix to make another video on dash cams installation with the newest and most advanced cars on the market.
There isn't a senario where the camera would be unfused. It would just go through the bottom fuse if installed backwards. If no bottom fuse is installed, power won't make it to the dashcam if the tap is installed backwards.
I have mine wired to a plug that is always on... My fuse box is in the engine compartment. Any suggestions? I didn't really want to drill a hole through the firewall, so for now I just have to remember to unplug it. I'm using a phone charger on this port as well, not the plug that came with the dash camera, so my wireless phone charger stays lit up when plugged in, which helps to remind me to unplug the camera, but it certainly isn't ideal. Loved the video though, I installed mine the exact same way (minus the power goign to a plug that turns off with the engine) and even used similar plastic stick on clip in one problem area.
Hey Chris. On my way to Japan for the fourth time in my life and I finally have enough money to know I can payoff for what is supposed to be a 1988 Mazda RX-7 10th anni Edition. I don't think I would have been able to take my time to know people within the car scene if it wasn't for channels like you helping me learn and connect with others.
Since I installed my very first dash cam with parking mode and a rear camera, I had to go through a few different videos to understand all the steps needed to install them properly. However, your video was the best for learning as it covered everything I needed to know. Awesome!
I just checked my own install and it had indeed gone over the curtain airbag. Thank you for the clear video, you might have saved mine or my passengers lives.
Amazing video! I just recently started to be more caring towards my car. Before, I treated that thing like crap and it was showing pretty bad. Seats were dirty, years worth of rocks, sand, and dirt were piled on the floor, dust all over the dash, residue in the cupholders, trash was everywhere in there, the trunk was full of random and useless junk, and my airbag light was on for 3 years straight. It's not a new or impressive car by any means, just a generic 2012 VW Jetta SE with just over 170k miles on it. I always mentioned to people how I wanted to get a new car since mine was a piece of junk, but I came to realize that it really wasn't a piece of junk, I just treated it like it was. Besides, with the car-market nowadays, I figured I might as well maintain that car for as long as I can and drive it into the ground, lmao I spent about 4 hours deep-cleaning the interior of the car to make it look good, and then hand washed my car after that. Haven't seen the car be that clean since I bought it! Cleaned out my trunk too, and found a shaker bottle with brown liquid inside of it. I don't know what it was that was in there, where it came from, or whose it was, but it stank like shit (looked like it too) and has been fermenting in heat and cold for God knows how long. That was really a wake-up call for me too. Then I figured I should at least get the airbag light diagnosed. I took it to a VW dealership and they scanned it for free, and addressed and fixed another recall that was active on my car. They said the Seat Occupied Recognition control module was faulty, thus causing all airbags in the car to be deactivated and told me that they could get it fixed for me for $900. I said I'd decide later, and took the car home and did research on how to fix the issue myself. Bought an OBDeleven scanner and went to a scrapyard and ripped the module out of a 2012 Passat. Installed that in my car, used the scanner to reprogram the new module to work for my car, and no more light! Fixed my issue for less than $100 instead of giving the dealership almost 10x that amount. I felt very satisfied fixing that issue myself and saving that much money, and realized that I also had fun doing all that research and fixes. So from here-on-out, I think I'll try to do some fixes for my car myself if I think I can handle it! After getting that fix done, I figured that I should also invest in a dashcam. Given my airbags work again, as well as the fact that I'm paying full coverage for my car, and I've already encountered two hit-and-runs on my vehicle since I've had it, and the only reason I have my current car is because my last car was totaled while it was parked in the street. So having a dashcam would be a great investment in my opinion, also considering the fact that I plan to keep the car until it gets totaled or it blows up on me. Stumbled across this video and this has really eased my mind on DIY car projects and dashcam installations, and I plan to invest in a dashcam system next paycheck! Thank you so much for this video! Huge help!
Excellent tutorial! I have a Vantrue 3-way dashcam that I purchased a few years ago but never used. I'm finally going to install it in my brand new Honda Ridgeline, so this video is right on time. I appreciate the fact that you cover every single step, unlike many youtube 'tutorials' that leave out half the details. Well done!
Hey Chris, I just wanted to thank you so much. I got Tinnitus like 7 years ago and at the beginning it was really hard. What helped me there was your videos, as they were interesting and perfect to watch multiple times because your style is just so calming. Got me through a hard time and I'm happy to see you're back once more!
You know, Chris, I've had two dash cams (front and rear) installed, but I took it to a stereo shop to do it. After watching your video, I have confidence that I could probably do it myself next time. I have a 2016 Nissan Rogue. After watching you tug on the various panels to open them or remove them, I got my fingers under the rear door sill panel on one of the sides of my Rogue, and gave it "a good pull". It worked like a charm. Fascinating. Panel connectors seem much more robust than I remember from the '70s and '80s, where many of them would break if you gave them "a good pull". Of course, that was after you removed any screws holding them. I really like these new panel connectors. Heh. "All these plastic pieces just snap in. So just give them a good hit". You know, I'll bet that some of the assembly folks in the factories REALLy enjoy their jobs. That's a job for me. 😃
It’s funny because someone mad a video about how mechanics claim they know something then you hear “hey guys Chris fix here” and then I get a notification you post I love life
This is an excellent video. You even overviewed the fuse direction which is critical. If you place the jumper in backwards your fuse will not operate correctly and could cause a fire. Very Important! There is one more extremely important point to add, when installing a dash cam on a car that has an active warranty by yourself and connect it to the fusebox. YOU WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY!!! You need to have your car dealership install it for you! However you can still install your dash cam and plug in into the lighter and run the wires outside.
Thanks a lot! I'm not sure how this would void a warranty though (If you did something completely wrong and it caused some crazy electrical damage sure, but the chances are really low if you know what you're doing)
this was hands down, one of the best video tutorials of any kind i've ever seen. It was clear and easy to follow, every single action was mentioned and explained and everything was properly shown in detail.
I rarely write comments, but I want to tell you that you are the most humble and helpful TH-camr on the platform. You deserve all the success and I hope I can help people someday in any way like you. God bless you!
i remember around 6 years ago when I was 8, watching 4 of your videos in a single day. everytime there was an issue with anyone of our cars, I would be the "genius" helping.
You didnt look very hard. Ive seen pretty much same thing chris has done many times over last few years. This is just a recap basically. Def more info than most others, but not the first.
So many people asked so long ago and this is such a simple install I figured I should try to make the best dash camera install video on the internet! You can be the judge of that haha
I used to watch you when i was much younger, like 8. Your tutorials like the superclean series were what got me so interested in cars. Its so refreshing to have a youtuber who is genuine and wants to actually help people. I remember the first video i watched of you being your "How to change a tire" video. After coming back, im happy to see that you havent changed your ways and keep making high quality videos
You know, I started watching your content a couple years ago for the entertainment value, but I've learned so much from watching. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the work you put into your videos. Glad to see your back and hope things are smoother for you in the future! Hope the next one includes more soapy wooder!
Hey Chris, I’ve been watching since you started the drift stang It’s been a long time now I’m 13 and I just started watching again on this account and it was just a wave of emotions watching some of your videos crazy it’s been a really long time. I’m glad to see your channel. Still thriving. I remember right about the time you started the drift stang I got my 1993 fox and now she’s making 850 to the rear wheels old power you inspired me my dad likes your channel to he works for snap on now was a mechanic at the time I love to see you still post keep up the good work
Hey Chris. Just coming through to thank you. Everytime you publish a video, I am inclined to perform whatever installation or task you show us. You are an excellent instructor and your tutorials are so thorough and safety-forward. Thank you!
You are the best. I now have the confidence to install my own dashcam and hardwire it in. Take care of yourself, that's most important. Glad you're back.
Mr Fix, you are probably the most perfect example of a human being and a man that I know of on TH-cam. I love how you explain everything and leave no stone unturned. I would love to see some content about you personally and how you became such a practical bloke with such a healthy engineers ethic.
Me, a 30 something year old car novice, not realizing that I can just take off the plastic pieces of a car 😅 my dad would be so ashamed lol. Thank you for making such a thorough video! I've been wanting to get a dash cam for a while now but can't deal with the wire mess! After watching this video I think I can actually run the wires myself. 🤞🏻
been subscribed for years, I already know you did the Prius on purpose. the most used uber/food dlelivery car and those people need a dash cam install. your a nice guy Chris
About a week ago I discovered your channel again and watched so many videos. I saw that you would upload a new one soon and here it is. The funny thing is that I will get my first car in a few weeks and this video will help me alot because I want to install a dashcam. Love your videos ❤
I've really missed your videos. Hope you're doing well. As a photographer I don't know why I never thought of a polarizing filter for my dash cam to help out with the glare. Now I have to go see if the manufacturer of my dash cam offers one or find a way to make one work. Thanks for the video!
This brought together lessons I've learned from trial and error, TH-cam and various car forums into a single, well-produced piece. Subscribed, this is top shelf content.
Excited for this new chapter of yours. This video is super useful. Every car should have a dash cam. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
You. Potentially saved my life. I did my dashcam installation myself and didn't run it in the A-pillar, just up and about without caring about the side airbags. Thank you for the informative vid!
Thank you Chris. I installed some dash cams in mine and my wife's cars years ago, but didn't think about the side curtain airbags. It looks like I'll have to redo our installations a bit this weekend :p
Correct me if I’m wrong, I always thought you should disconnect the battery before popping off the pillar with the side bag as it could go off when removing it. Many installation videos recommend it as a precaution. But other than that, great video! I’ve always installed dash cams similarly but to someone with less knowledge, this video makes it easy and straightforward! Chris, you’ve done it again!
Well done video and super easy to understand and follow. I just know that I'll do some serious damage to all my trim moulding while removing it unlike you with your ease of taking it out. I don't think anyone could have done a better or easier way with an instructional video then you have done. Great Job and thanks for all this important info. Also wishing you relief from all your problems and hope you get back on track because you matter.
I really like the fact that you donot want to show your face! You are to the point and yet detailed. You know the problems and you talk about every bit of it. Best!
0:50 That insurance company should be brought up on fraud charges. If someone is coming out of a side road, there is no conceivable way you could be at fault
Wow, one of the best detailed tutorials I have ever seen. Do you have a video about installing a rear camera with the center mirror screen? I can't find it, if someone has the link please reply here. If you don't have one I would really love a tutorial on that especially for older cars 🥲 thank you :)
The one big takeaway from this video (for me) was that this takes a lot more skill to do properly than I had imagined, and it’s actually possible to do it very wrong (thinking of the airbags). I’m so impressed with the detail you put into your videos and this is no exception. There are so many great reviews on dash cameras but none of them really address what it takes to properly hard-wire a system into a vehicle. Thank you for doing this Chris. I wish you were available for hire! Hope things are continuing to go better for you in life. You seem like a great dude.
Thank you for showing how to install a dashcam. Could you also show how to install a 4-channel dashcam, please? The dashcam that can record 4 corners of a vehicle.
I'm back! Sorry for not posting YT videos consistently.
Great tip! Thanks!
This is what I was thinking as well. I don't really want to mount a dash cam to the front windshield either. I would rather mount it to my actual dash with a mechanical fastener of sorts and not an adhesive fastener.
Especially on cars with opposed wipers like my 2014 Civic. The area behind the rear view mirror is completely missed by the wipers.
Thats a common mistake a lot people make, they mount it when its its dry out but end up putting it in a spot the wipers cant reach.
If your car has auto wipers, chances are the sensor is integrated into the mount of the rear view mirror. So that area does get swept by the wipers. Don’t hurt to make sure though

I think dashcams should come stock with cars, especially modern ones. They’re literally life savers
Toyota are selling them as a dealer installed option
@@celsovera91 but why do that when you can do yourself it with common handtools™?
I say let us pick the camera but they could include USB C power at the rearview mirror and a passthrough USB-C cable to the back.
Would hate for a company to include a crappy camera that you cant easily upgrade and have to run a new one side by side.
I wouldn't want one that's $700 / month of the dealer feels like it. I know alot of performance cars come with them as a track cam but not a long term camera
How is a dash cam "literally a life saver"?

It's $150 where I am, that's weird
For anyone confused, the code is for the $150 camera and you'll see a little save $30 coupon when you look at the item in your cart. You need to click on clip this coupon. Then you need to add the code he provided QEBGTPOH and that's a $20 coupon. Together they add up to $50 off the camera bringing the total down to about 100-110 depending on where you live and how much sales tax your state charges.

CHRIS THE BEST MECHANIC EVER IS FINALLY BACK
I was going to install Dashcams on my cars recently, and this answered all my questions and made me confident in installing them without any hiccups. Impeccable timing bud.
Fitcamx makes a dashcam that replaces your factory set-up and plugs into the OEM hardware. I purchased one for my new Camry and forget that it's there most of the time.
Find the Lord Jesus Christ repent of sins and turn to God. Games that open doors to demons are not worth it! John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life".
Fitcamx is the best in my opinion. They are made to replace your factory setup and blend in seamlessly to your OEM setup.
@chrisfix thank you 😊🙏
Indeed, but this reminded me of a lengthy process already over 5 years back when selecting a dash cam and I decided to take Vantrue.
I would add a few additional things:
- Take your time.
[edit: Many 'hard wire kits' that support parking mode have a low voltage cut-off feature that will shut down the camera if your vehicle's battery voltage drops below a certain amount]
- Triple camera dashcams, or ones that include an interior-facing camera, are especially good for Uber and Lyft drivers as they can be used as evidence for badly behaving riders, but for most people they are not necessary and could even be a liability (if, for example, it shows the driver temporarily not paying attention to the road).
Use an OBD-II power tap with a built-in low battery shutoff circuit. They only cost about $10.
@@username-mc7jw Forgot to mention that one, thanks.
Glad the video was helpful! Yeah a lot of people dont think about the airbags and it's pretty important!
@@chrisfix I need to check how I've wired mine up tomorrow! I think I've done this too... Thanks!

A request for a future time: do a video on how to do instructional videos "with common household electronics and software" (as well as whatever Chris is actually using).

You should address a few things:

Since I installed my very first dash cam with parking mode and a rear camera, I had to go through a few different videos to understand all the steps needed to install them properly. However, your video was the best for learning as it covered everything I needed to know. Awesome!
We missed ya Chris. Nice to see you back.❤
I just checked my own install and it had indeed gone over the curtain airbag.
Besides, with the car-market nowadays, I figured I might as well maintain that car for as long as I can and drive it into the ground, lmao
I spent about 4 hours deep-cleaning the interior of the car to make it look good, and then hand washed my car after that.
Huge help!

Glad my footage could help out in your video Chris. I 1000% recommend installing them.
Thanks for submitting your footage! It was perfect!
How cool to have your footage in a ChrisFix video 😮
Bro that crash made me cringe 😬 especially it being a hummer h1
Welcome back, Chris 🎉
Happy you back and your DIY videos are invaluable!
God bless!
Thanks a lot!
Perfect timing! I just bought my Vantrue camera 2 weeks ago! Still haven't properly installed it, but now I can! Good! 👍
been subscribed for years, I already know you did the Prius on purpose. the most used uber/food dlelivery car and those people need a dash cam install. your a nice guy Chris
The polarizer filter is a small detail but soooooo game changing for image clarity!
It looks so simple and easy than what i thought. I have learned a lot from your video including fixing my cars.
Thanks a lot Mike!
Chris moves to Florida and immediately gets a dashcam. I love it
Bro all car maintenance and insurance companies are nonexistent because of you 🎉
There's always going to be a market (which is fine), I just hope the information keeps everyone honest at the end of the day
I mean, that's a good point.
Just got a dashcam and the goat happens to finally release a video, and its about dashcams.. great
Perfect timing!
@@chrisfixyes. It’s like when I’m looking for a tool. Say a leaf blower or wrenches. I always check Project Farm to see which one is the best.
He is the man we want and then what we get I love this guy
Correct me if I’m wrong, I always thought you should disconnect the battery before popping off the pillar with the side bag as it could go off when removing it. Many installation videos recommend it as a precaution.
But other than that, great video! I’ve always installed dash cams similarly but to someone with less knowledge, this video makes it easy and straightforward! Chris, you’ve done it again!
Can we all just appreciate, that Chris makes these videos to 1: help us fix our cars, but also to keep us safe! So I just want to say thank you!
You are SIMPLY THE BEST!!!😊
When the world needs him, he always comes back
Well done video and super easy to understand and follow. I just know that I'll do some serious damage to all my trim moulding while removing it unlike you with your ease of taking it out. I don't think anyone could have done a better or easier way with an instructional video then you have done. Great Job and thanks for all this important info. Also wishing you relief from all your problems and hope you get back on track because you matter.
when he says thumbs up at 35:44 the like button glows in RGB colour..
Really? Dang you're right... That is crazy!
@@chrisfixit does it for the sub button too, if people have not subscribed yet
I really like the fact that you donot want to show your face! You are to the point and yet detailed. You know the problems and you talk about every bit of it. Best!
Thanks!
The new property looks nice. Huge garage too.
It took 4yrs to find but I fintally go what I wanted. Land, tons of garage space, and more land haha
@@chrisfix Are you going to put a video out about the land?
@@GuessWho-uc5uq lots of trees and grass. Not too much to video haha
@@chrisfixIt’s worth the hunt. haha
No way I got Rick rolled from the for sale sign. I really thought I had it 😂. Chris you’re a genius, much love!
“HE’SSSSS BACKKKKKK” 🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️💪💪💪
Fun fact: if you watch a Chris fix video backwards, it's an evil version of him taking new parts out and replacing them with old/broken parts
Bro woke up after a hiatus 🤣🤣
I wish I was sleeping lol
where were you 😮
@@bedirhanoez5977look at his community posts
I have watched all of your videos and I Love how detailed they are!!! You are the man Chris!
Yes! Another ChrisFix video, welcome back!
I love your content i've been watching your videos since I was 3 or 5 years old and I still watch it today God bless you and have a good day
For real as kids we were just watching the videos not learnining haha
0:50 That insurance company should be brought up on fraud charges. If someone is coming out of a side road, there is no conceivable way you could be at fault
welcome to the thunderdome. all the institutions we thought were sacred are made of tissue paper.
I’ve been watching you for many years and still don’t own a car but I plan on going back to ur vids to help when I do. Keep up the good work man👍
This will come in handy, thanks.
Thanks!
Wow, one of the best detailed tutorials I have ever seen. Do you have a video about installing a rear camera with the center mirror screen? I can't find it, if someone has the link please reply here. If you don't have one I would really love a tutorial on that especially for older cars 🥲 thank you :)
I like the new setting
The one big takeaway from this video (for me) was that this takes a lot more skill to do properly than I had imagined, and it’s actually possible to do it very wrong (thinking of the airbags). I’m so impressed with the detail you put into your videos and this is no exception. There are so many great reviews on dash cameras but none of them really address what it takes to properly hard-wire a system into a vehicle. Thank you for doing this Chris. I wish you were available for hire! Hope things are continuing to go better for you in life. You seem like a great dude.
Is there anything ChrisFix can't fix? Might as well ask him to fix your failing marriage haha, just kidding. You are amazing, brother!
WHOOOOO LETS GOOOOO CHRISFIX YOUE MY IDOL MAN
Thank you for showing how to install a dashcam. Could you also show how to install a 4-channel dashcam, please? The dashcam that can record 4 corners of a vehicle.
If I get one I can make a short video on it, thanks for the video idea!
I cant believe this kind of content is free. Thank you
Garage doors of new place look nice
Thanks! I need to get roll up ones soon. It is just so expensive.
3:35 are we just gonna ignore the del sol for sale with a phone number??
I thought he was gonna build the del sol more 😢
I think that was a for sale sign for something else.
That doesn't look like a sign for the car. It looks like a sign for the property.
