You tube is a great source for a lot of old western movies not just John Wayne.
With the quality of most of the garbage they produce today I am thankful I grew up in the times when many of these movies were current and enjoy watching them again even today.

A perfect movie. Only John Wayne movies were perfect. The Searchers, Rio Bravo, Red River, etc etc. Tall in the Saddle. I can just keep going on and on. John Wayne was a national treasure.

I'm a huge John Wayne fan. This is one of his best movies. I am saddened when I watch this as I am reminded of the life of Gail Russell. This movie showed a side of her that I believe what was really inside her heart before Hollywood sunk it's claws into her. I am glad that she took on this role, and that we can remember her as the "Angel" that paid the price to tame a "Bad Man".

They filmed the movie from April, 1946 through July of 1946. How pristine the area would have been then! :) As a lifelong Arizonan, I've compiled Arizona playlists, here on TH-cam, of our great scenery, organized to follow the map, which viewers are welcome to enjoy. :)

THE ALL STAR CAST pulled this story together,,lead actors always get the praise as they should but the understudy actors like HARRY CAREY and OLIN HOWLAND the telegrapher, excellent portrayals of the locals, watched this over 20 times in 55 years, movie of innocence and fury and bible

Has anyone else noticed that the mother, who's the only one without a first name, is always putting her cooking/baking down? The only time she agrees with a compliment about her food is when she talked about her donuts winning first prize at the fair!!!😅❤

Yes, we noticed. She obviously has a complex about it.

Tbe first time I saw part of this movie was many years ago on a weekend I was about to leave for work. I chanced it on a TV chanel that was showing it with a lot of commercials. About a tenth way through it I had to leave without even knowing the title but knew I wanted to see the whole movie uninterrupted again. My sesrch began at movie rental stores but couldn't find it and nobody seemed to know the title from my descriptions. Then a few years later I volunteered at a Restore and there it was on VHS cassette for sale at $0.50. However my excitement turned into disappointment later that evening when I discovered that most part of the recording on the VHS was destroyed. Nonetheless I now knew the title and so the search continued. A few more years later I was finally able to rent the movie on a DVD disc from Netflix and several more years bought my own prized copy on Amazon prime. Now I can watch it anywhere I go for free on youtube. I love America.

It's one of my all-time favorite movies.
    The plot gaps are painful.
But the overall storyline is pretty decent.
If you follow the story, the Quackers are correct.
Greed , jealousy, a thirst for power at any cost.
That is simply the wrong way.
Either you understand that, or you don't.

Gail Russell was so beautiful. It's too bad her life turned so tragic.

Her life didn't "turn" tragic. She did it to herself through her own choices.

The opening seen, after monument valley is the sedona west subdivision and west sedona school now. When the sound stages were taken down the house I grew up in and the school were built on top of it. My dads house was on Zane grey and my moms was on last wagon.
