Reviews:
"This a John Wayne film like no other. Take it from a huge fan that's seen most of his movies. Although this not classified as a comedy, the Duke's turns in a sly performance full of great one-liners and facial expressions that had me rolling. Its action adventure in the oil fields and it's very entertaining and fun. Wayne is Cowboy Dan Somers and he competes with oilman Jim Gardner for oil lease rights on Indian land in Oklahoma, as well as for the attentions of schoolteacher turned scandalous book author Cathy Allen. It has a good supporting cast including George "Gabby" Hayes. You will never see the Duke quite like this in any other role. If you're a fan of the Duke, you will love this film. It was originally titled "In Old Oklahoma" and then reissued as "War of the Wildcats"." Written by robjdelaney on IMDb.com
"Duke has his hands full in this one. He wants the schoolmarm Martha Scott, fending off the rich Albert Dekker, and reluctantly in a battle for oil. Sidekick Gabby Hayes as Despirit Dean is in rare form throughout this classic gem. If that wasn't enough the showgirls had the greats Dale Evans and Rhonda Fleming. Prominent Broadway lead Marjorie Rambeau had some wonderful lines delivered to perfection. Grant Withers, Paul Fix, and Hollywood's meanest cowboy, Harry Woods rounded out a superb cast. Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders would've been proud of this one." Written by frank4122 on IMDb.com

I just remembered halfway through the movie that I had seen it before. But still worth watching again. John Wayne is all cowboy. Rip big guy.
Your slow, I knew I had seen it a few times before in the first 10 seconds
I seen the last half of the movie like three four times but I never caught the beginning this is the first time I've seen it from the start

Great movie, Wayne was the quintessential American Cowboy. All man, all the time. We need some of that kind today...
Always love any movie with George (Gabby) Hays
A VERY ENJOYABLE WESTERN WITH JOHN WAYNE,A VERY BEAUTIFUL CO-STAR AND ONE OF THE BEST CHARACTER ACTOES EVER, GABBY HAYES
One of his best. Even the script writers got the history references right in the major plot scenes and the piffy little songs. Well done, steam locomotives, horse stampede (as mustangs) and all. I realy enjoyed it.
Yeah it’s good entertainment but also propaganda using tools to lie about our history.
Pretty much everything They taught us is a lie. it’s a good day to find god thru Jesus Christ almighty our lord and savior
Saturday morning. Cowboy coffee ,bacon and a western Thank you. Merry Christmas
This is one I haven't seen before. Great movie.
I'm 71 and thought I'd seen all of John Waynes movies. Maybe I getting forgetful but I don't remember seeing this movie.

man! My favorite part is between 3:14-6:48. Every woman in the country needs to watch that!
Martha Scott really gives Maureen O'Hara a run for her money as to who was the most adorable of Wayne's leading ladies. What a doll!
All the movies from John Wayne are very good loved western movies

I said you will never perish you will never perish and he'll protect you and keep you as his child and give you his Holy Spirit and you will
I think American brought luxury to another level even in Britain in Victorian time when the country was a rich unparalleled empire we did not have such opulent and sumptuous trains.
Real magic, too. How did Gardner get his hands clean after bring in the oil well???
That was a pretty good movie for sure.
i love all of his movies❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊

Bom dia e deus abençoe a todos vocês também que curtem muito bom filme dos anos 70🎉❤
Whats with the song John is always singing?
He sings it in multiple movies he's in.
Martha Scott had lived in Kansas City. She also had been a school teacher. She was known to incorporate parts of her life in the roles she played.

I wonder if young dan (John Wayne) taught that song to Tully Crow (Lee Marvin)
It Was a Ok Move. But I Really Hate Evil And Corruption. Which Always Goes Along With Money And Greed. And Rich People. It's Next To Impossible To Find a Honest Rich Man Or Woman. 🖤
And The List Goes On.
Obviously a lot of people don't think so, but Donald Trump is actually a rich man who is honest.
We might have seen this movie, but I bet Not in color? I met John Wayne on San Juan Island. JW invited me on board his yacht wild goose. I can face to face with Ben Johnson.
Bloody awesome movie
Great 👍
I sure do like that Bessie! Awesome gal! :)
I loved John Wayne, but then I reached puberty.
John Wayne was the best cardboard cutout ever to perform as an actor.
dum**ss
I know that Hollywood likes to fake stuff but I grew up in Tulsa and know the country of said Tulsa and Sapulpa and I know for a fact that, that part of OK do not have mountains like they do in this movie. I spent years hiking the hills and back country of that land.
Hollywood does not specialize in reality. Let it go.....
It seems this Movie was Produced before the Petroleum was used in Vehicles.

wildcats.. a term first describing the hellacious gals, then post OIL fields, a gusher!! same term used both ways in this movie !!
Now It can be seen...the oil industry started in USA the hard way. the basic way.
While UAE incl Dubai...just hiked oil prices to get what they were told is what they wanted. They had been a BEDOUIN desert community for 3000 years. They were confidant in their caravans in the desert oasis to oasis, and WE told them they need to change.AND THEY DID. IN their own way..thru oil pricing!

Kind of a pointless question because almost everyone has a different opinion on it.
What happened to Spindletop?
Started gushing oil in 1901. It continued as a productive source of oil until about 1936. Stripper wells continue producing to this day. It was then mined for sulfur from the 1950s to about 1975.
