I can't bloody say enough about how wonderful this move is, Don Knots is an American legend in every sense of the word. He's the best comedic actor from before comedic acting was a thing...he defined at least 2 decades of comedy with out even trying to be funny. The man will always be a true legend and a complete bloody genius.!!!
I was lucky enough to see it in an old, 20s era theater in Lake Canandaigua New York. I was five, and the crowd was so rowdy that the film had to be stopped five times. Jerks or throwing stuff at the screen and scaring the hell out of me. I bet that poor Usher still has nightmares about that evening! If he is still alive()

Wow, this was made 51 years ago. I had just finished my 4 years in the Marine Corps. I bought the movie on VHS and my son and I watched it when he was in high school. It's still hilarious because of Don Knott's great comedy talent.

This movie was made before I was born, but I grew up watching it. Now my son is old enough to watch it and it is so fun seeing him laugh as much as I still do! This movie will always be an amazing comedy and just plain fun!
I've loved Don Knotts since I first saw him as the nervously vibrating 'Man in the Street' on Steve Allen's Show. This movie is a long-time favorite. I'm so glad I found it again. Was having a crap day, and Don instantly made me feel better. RIP, darling man, and thanks so very much for the magic and memories.
I was born in 1977 and grew up on don knotts movies and tv roles. I love don knotts and he is a true one of a kind nobody has ever done what he did as well as him. The lovable coward who by pure dumb luck always saves the day. I love every movie and show he was in but if i was forced to pick favorites. I believe his movie the private eyes with tim Conway is the funniest movie ever made and my number 2 pick would be the ghost and mr chicken thats brillant i worked at a newspaper for over 20 years and so my family used to tease me all the time by calling me scoop like they tease don in that movie. But all his movies are great and worth not only watching but owning. I own lots of his movies including this one but when i ran across it here i had to watch. Thanks for the upload don may be gone but will never be forgotten he is a true American classic and this is another one he is perfect for

Love it! Starting with lyrics in the opening song, "he came out west on a northbound train..., he's got a phony pony that was made in Japan..."🤣, and continuing right on thru the ending credits. Just a great movie all around!!
He was such a good actor everything that he did he was a convincing actor and the world should be proud of what he did the shakiest gun in the West I'm not talking about his TV I'm talking about mr. As a kid I saw this first in 1973 on a community police boys club camp which was on a farm set up as a recreation camp it had full facilities dormitories mess hall snack shop sports field and open air cinema and this was the movie we watched , there were 400 plus kids all watching a movie we had never seen and laughing our heads off... great memories 👍👍👍👍👍
This may well be the greatest Western ever made. Note the somber realism displayed throughout and the haunting sense of danger and ever growing tension underscored by the ethereal musical score . . wait, oh, wrong movie.
Don Knots was one of a kind. Great actor! Nobody and I mean nobody can act more nervous than Don. What I've read about him in real life he was just the opposite the most layed back guy you'd ever meet.
My parents used to watch this every week. I watched one day & for some reason it it stayed with me for 20+ years even the opening theme music I never forgot the words. I'm here watching it after last watching it 29 years ago.

@@Labor_Jones my favorite Don Knotts film was The Incredible Mr. Limpett. I was not ever a Deputy Fife fan because, well that was the most mealy mouthed character he ever played imo. I enjoyed his astronaut one because I lived in Channelview Texas. When we came back from Panama the Canal Zone. Even though it was released in '64 we USAF dependants usually waited till it came out on tv, generally about 4 yrs after theatre premieres.
@@GathKingLeppbertI I think I was 11 when Limpett came out. The kids came out and back then you didn't have to leave the theater after the film... you could watch them over and over then. I was big film fan going to the movies 3 or 4 times a week and I wasn't even 10 yet. Yes, the cartoon aspect on Don's acting in Limpett was arranged for the Fish not the actor... but I i've laughed a bunch on this movie today (or now) it's been too long and can't remember them much, but even when I know the jokes I still laugh.

Don Knotts was a very unique man who was great. He's one of the few that can thank for how bad he was risen to make him such a good man. That if he was still alive. May he rest in peace. It's great how all have commented.

Barbara Rhodes’s comment “Get back here,you idiot!!!” during the gunfight with the Indian warriors was priceless. In the opening scene, Miss Stephenson clamps down on Don’s hand when he attempts to force her mouth open. This movie showed Don’s slapstick and physical comedy ability in a perfect light.
I watched all of his movies new, as a child. This movie and Ghost and Mr.Chicken were my faves of his. This movie reminds me of Bob Hope's movie Paleface. Knotts is hilarious in anything. The priest from MASH is the hotel manager. He sure looks young.

Great movie! If you like to laugh, watch it. My mother went to grade school with Don Knotts. A one room school house in Hilderbrand WV. The old dchool house is still visable from I-79 at the top of the hill a mile south of the Westover exit just west of Morgantown. She always said he was a cut up funny guy way back then.
Actually this movie was made before. It is a ripoff of Bob Hope's "The Paleface" with Jane Russell in 1948, a Paramount Picture distributed by Universal.

I'm going to be 63 in the spring I do not know how I miss this movie it must have been after I got a raise in my allowance and Skip to Saturday matinee and went to the nearby rent a horse stable for the one hour privilege of riding A mean old stubborn nag. Actually, the quality of movies was SO bad at the time that the Congress had to intervene and separate the film studios from the TV studios.
The "atta boy reverend" in this movie was an homage to the running gag of "atta boy Luther" from The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Mr. Limpet was one of my favorites when I was a kid.
I almost cried from laughter in that scene when the native was coming towards him and his gun fell apart while trying to reload.

Actually this movie was made before. It is a ripoff of Bob Hope's "The Paleface" with Jane Russell in 1948, a Paramount Picture distributed by Universal.

I'm going to be 63 in the spring I do not know how I miss this movie it must have been after I got a raise in my allowance and Skip to Saturday matinee and went to the nearby rent a horse stable for the one hour privilege of riding A mean old stubborn nag. But I got to see it for free today thank you for downloading this movie I enjoyed it
