  • It's new drivetrain day for the Cinelli Gazzetta! I'm finally upgrading my 130bcd Sugino RD2's to some nice 144bcd Sram Omniums so I can fit a 47t Sugino Zen chainring! Ive gone from a 46-16 to a 47-17 ratio to help with the hills but also for tricks. Really like how it turned out in the end, let me know what you guys think!

    Sugino ring, Omnium cranks, and shimano bolts? That’s pretty slick actually, nice combination

    Excellent video as always, I like bikes that slowly morph and get modified over the years as the rider analyses what would work best

    I have exactly the same crank and chainring. I’ve partnered it with a Phil wood OB bottom bracket. Honestly more than i really need but it’s such a lovely ride.

    You can put a bit of heat shrink tubing (used in electrical wiring) on the brake cable noodle, that will help protect the rack. No more tape needed!

      That’s a nice tip, thanks for that!

    Hey you really sparked my new hobby of fixing up bikes! Also wanted to ask what kind of wheels you run on this build?

    • @waveywheelies

      Awesome to hear that! These are Miche hubs, Mavic Open Pro rims laced with dt Swiss spokes

    What chain lube do you use on your builds?
    Thanks in advance, and keep making such good videos! 🙌

    I ordered a brand new Sugino zen 50t, new eai gold 17t, and an Izumi gold super tough with black links all on Wednesday. Super stocked to get them in and slap em on then I’ll have my dream drivetrain that will last me for years

    instead of electrical tape, look into self-adhesion silicon tape. I use it on my bar tape wraps to keep it from undoing, there is wide and narrow kinds on Amazon. It is nice because it won't smudge or leave sticky residue if it moves, such as on a hot day.

    Thanks for another great video, bro/mate. 😂. Black and chrome looks sweet. Do you feel a noticeable difference from the sq taper BB? What do you like about it? People love the Omniums, same question, what do you notice? Stiffness?

    • @waveywheelies
      @waveywheelies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yeah mainly stiffness, but not much more than that tbh apart from the look!

    I could not for the life of me find a black GXP BB (Canada) I was calling online stores that had pictures of blacks ones but no one had them or could get them from their suppliers. I ended up masking my silver one and painting it.

    these type of bottom brackets fail quite often and I know those omnium cranks crack too stay safe my friend.

    Great video! How do you keep a straight chainline? Iirc, omniums have a 44.5mm chainline, but the standard is 42mm. How do you make sure everything lines up?

    • @waveywheelies
      @waveywheelies  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! There’s quite a few factors that can effect chainline, different frames, bb’s shell tolerance etc. as long as it’s in around the +-2mm I’m happy, I generally just eye ball it to see. I’ve yet to have an issue with all the crank, hub and frame combinations I’ve used

    • @waveywheelies

    The frame is $50 the chain ring is $150. This build isn't proportional. It makes the whole thing ugly.
