Yo man, you rock for watching my video! 🤘 What do you think of the colors on the motor so far? Links to tools and chemicals are in the description by the way!
Since I started watching your videos every time I’m working on my lawn mowers I find myself double clicking the torque wrench when I’m tightening my blades back up. The sound of a torque wrench clicking gives me the same satisfaction as a dad clicking his tongs before flipping a burger
Your doing a great job being new to the 250r. Nice refresher for me to watch your videos even though I just watch because I'm a 250r junkie. I got the very first trx250r my honda dealership sponsor got in. His boy got the blue and white and I got the red and white! Greatest 4 wheeler ever made. I won a lot of races on them bikes. Still have 4 of them. A leager narrow frame, Walsh modified stock frame tt racer with aluminum subframe, houser crf450 hybrid, and a stocker. Need a roll design to round out the collection.
Man thanks for making this video. I forgot how to line up the balancer and you reminded me very clearly. Nice meeting you at Sahara 250R legends. Rock on 🤘!
I love these video's! You don't really see these quads in my country so it's very interresting to watch. I'm from Belgium by the way! Keep up the good work!
I godda say good job on your first 250R. All the pitfalls i know of i waited and waited and you experienced a few,,you did your homework first like with the kickstarter. Good job Brah🎄🤪🤙
Looking killer Man. I think that FDE cover is really going to pop alongside that water pump cover once you get that on there. Itching to see this beast in the frame! Thanks for the awesome content and inspiration.
Michael Sabo I am a 21 year Army retiree and I love seeing projects like this. Thank you for your contribution to the service members of this great country!
I followed the assembly process in this video however am now getting a ratcheting sound from the kick starter gear after start up, with the kick starter banging back and forth. Any ideas why that would be?
Hey Mike. Another great video. I don't mean to nag, but you really should consider calibrating your torque wrench. I hear that TH-cam has lots of videos about it! Also, the owners manual for your impact gun probably lists the torque values for the various impact settings. I bet that they are lower that you think.
When you were talking about your upgrade on your push rod, I assume you got the upgrade kit that comes with that top had lookin piece and then the pin bearing as well?
Thank you bro! The engine stand is available at tlr-online.com/trx250r/engine_stands . If you tell them you saw it on my channel that will probably make them really happy!
Hey Michael, that clutch push rod is from an '87-'88 TRX250R.....and you utilized the '89 update kit bearings & parts....I have a feeling it's gonna be too short....You can still get the '86 & '89 push rod (they're both the same length) from HONDA Part#22851-HA2-670 $17.43 or if you buy the '89 clutch update kit you get everything (rod, bearing, pusher, washer) Part#06220-HB9-305 for $90.81. If you rotate your clutch actuator and it goes too far.....that's the problem.....the extra washer may help....also I noticed the clutch PRESSURE PLATE is a '86-88....(HA2) you need a '89 (HB9) Otherwise...Great Video!!! Keep up the great work! :)
@Michael Saebo I've watched these videos several times on the engine build as well as the series with Dave Moore prior to getting ready to build my ATC 250Rengine. My question is on the clutch shaft that goes vertically in the cases with the spring and washer, did you have to get the other components that are in that hole and install them or were they left in the cases during disassembly? I know one of those parts is discontinued the needle shell#12 on diagram and part #91002-HA2-003. I was wondering if you knew another source for that particular part. Thanks. Anyone else that sees this comment is welcome to help a 250R brother out.
Gettin all kinds of sponsorships from NPM and PRP it seems like. Build is coming along bad ass. And you mentioned silver lake in the last video, who all ya goin with.
Yes NPM and PRP helped out big time on this build; especially NPM! There is a 250R meetup there; I will be there with a few friends and the guys from DBC Racing 🤘
pay attention to detail . if you do not pay close attention to detail that motor will not hold together . you have to be on your A game when building a 2 stroke with this much power turning the rpm that this will turn . YOU look to be doing a very fine job . the true test will be a year of riding . lol
oh shit i missed that in the other video that this was a hotrod crank . why didnt you use the factory and have it rebuilt ? factory is so much better than that hotrod tywain crap . the first hotrod crank i ever ran 2 years ago barely made it past brake in before the bearings started coming apart . then i brung it to a local machine shop to get rebuilt and it wouldnt even come apart to be rebuilt . the machinist asked me if i had the oem i said yes and he said bring it to him to check out and was still good .
Interesting; hopefully I'll have a better experience. I am running a OEM 8 ball bearing on the crank so that should help. This is the crank that ESR sent me with the setup. I've used hot rods with good luck though; so I'm confident this one will work!
@@MichaelSabo do you still have the oem ? and the 8 ball upgrade is good . but look up on youtube hotrod crank problems . hopefully you do have good luck
Ok so you have basically built a new ride and made many mods but at what cost ? What I mean is if you were or are going to sell , what kind of money are we talking ? Only reason I bring it up is because you can finance a new ride at a dealer and even a used ride but between individuals you would have to take a personal loan. Believe me I see what you are doing and you are making a wonderfully strong durable ride but it looks like big money to me. Guess it's the business side of me thinking if I did this I would run into clowns who want this top dollar ride but only want to pay bottom drawer prices. Inevitably I take a loss so my business side says stock rebuild and resell at a modest profit. Easier turnover. Sorry I'm older so i analyze everything monetarily. I watch these wonderful car builders turn out top dollar merchandise like you're doing and these rich dicks won't pay what they're worth so they make a small profit. That sucks.
It's ironic, and tragic, that the buyers you describe probably charge $$$ for their professional services by the hour, and yet they think that your time has no value.
@@leopfeffer2419 definitely so. They say the rich became so wealthy because they don't pay the true worth for the things they get. Yet cash on hand even though it may be considerably less than the fair asking price often buys more because of availability and need. If I build a car easily worth $ 150,000 and I'm led to a wealthy buyer 9 times out of 10 even though the wise man starts high the actual profit will be low. That leads me to have to push my people harder to produce more just to in all actuality break just over even. We all live in a constant state of change. If you ask for a quote today for a vehicle and then give me the money tomorrow the cost of parts can change. At that point the buyer holds the cards because I have started the project and if I say it's going to cost more they may not care. Hence the hangman. Surely you can find a buyer who will hopefully pay your price but how long can you afford to wait ?
It's definitely a hard way to make a living... luckily I get paid to make my videos, so that makes this worth while to do; but realistically there is already more than 16k into parts and the bike. I've had 2 offers of 20k which is shocking honestly; but even at that; am I making any money at all after 8 months of building this and the hundreds of hours of labor? When I would do this for cash before TH-cam, they were always very basic as cheap as possible builds/fix ups so that I could make a profit on the machines.
I understand you're buying random parts that you think of, why don't you be logical and buy parts that actually match in terms of the colors and stuff! You must have a strange mind, man!
Yo man, you rock for watching my video! 🤘 What do you think of the colors on the motor so far? Links to tools and chemicals are in the description by the way!
I am rebuilding my lt500 right now. and I was wondering if the shift shaft has to be in a certain position on the shift drum?
It is kinda hard to explain
Bro it is looking so good!! My mind is blown!! 🤯
Your colors are perfect bud.
Probably the most detailed quad videos I've seen. Motor looks to good to be in a frame
This guy has to be the most underrated TH-camr ever, the detail that goes into these videos and the shear quality is just insane. Keep it up man👍
Been binge watching these videos while I am recovering. I had a 250r back in 2010, scared the hell out of me.
Good luck on your recovery bro; thank you for watching!

I got my TH-cam Master Mechanics Cert watching your vids.. Honestly, made rebuilding my crank possible by myself. Thanks
Getting close!!! Make sure you get some paddles for Silver Lake! Riding on the sand is so rad, especially when you have traction!
That grey/blue cover with the matte finish is nasty!! 🤩
Best build videos ever! Not missing a single video!Awesome colors so far, huge fan of your work💪🏼🤘🏼

Bro, I'm loving the way this bike is coming along. I want to rip that thing. I've never ridden anything like that... Except in video games lol
Thank you bro; come to silver lake next month and I will let you rip it, just remind me of this post 🤘
Let's get it done brother 💨💨💨

This is a great idea; something I've never done before; I will look into calibrating it! Thank you Leo!
Hi Michael, did you apply anything to protect the finish on the centre cases?
Engine looks minty :-)
Do you think it will have a chance against your Banshee? A race 🏁 video would be sweet!!
Awesome looks..
looks great man! I'm working on getting an ltz400 road legal in pa with a south Dakota registration! just waiting on my plates

where do you get that clutch pusher with that pancake bearing. i couldn’t find one like that anywhere??

Good job on the water pump washers,,most people leave one out. Next time try not to touch the mechanical water pump seal with your fingers🤙

Larry wheels intro haha. 👌🏼

Is there every gonna be a Michael sabo and pete Hager colab?????????
More than likely; we have spoken about it 😎
God I feel so dumb now because when I rebuilt my rm125 I didn’t even think about putting the kicker on to help get that spring in place😂
Lmfao! 😂
What is his upload schedule
Its been sporadic; I've been uploaded as soon as I get the video done. However; I almost always post at 7:15 PM ET.
Michael Sabo thank you for the reply
Never touch that ceramic on the water pump bearing. Wear latex. Those water pump seals are always fun.
