And please go follow my friend Mary Pat Sass (@sassfamilyfarms) who put together an amazing video with several farmers and ranchers to the song #BeALight. Watch it here 👉 • Be A Light-

Definately not enough of this going on in the world anymore. Husband and wife working together and raising there family and making an honest living while also providing BEEF for the rest of the world. Its so nice to be able to keep up with the family’s on youtube that actually don’t mind showing the goods and bads and struggles that come along with farming, trusting God and what the land gives you to survive just like people did many many years ago. With all the craziness going on in America these people never let it get to them they just do what they know how to do and pray and keep trucking right along. Glad you guys enjoy sharing your life with us 👍

I said the other day that you were really excited about your office/shecave but I'll say coming in at a very close second is seeing you in the tractor cab raking hay. Just the look on your face tells the story and I too got excited. I am jealous of Lawrence because he had a partner who is really a "farm wife" and a valuable asset on the farm. Keep up the good work and whenever there's equipment to operate, I'd love to see you more often in the seat. I've always believed that you could drive. Oh, I'm also proud when I see a woman operate a manual transmission; called a "stick" by city women.

I used to enjoy the haying. I had an old sickle mower and an old rake, but had to hire someone to bale the hay. The guy with the baler would always bale his hay first, so my hay had a chance to get wet if it rained. When we moved to North GA, I sold the rake and bought all my hay. Like you, I thought raking hay was fun, even artistic. When I was younger, I even worked in a hayfield with small, square bales. Now that was a lot of work. Throwing 60 pound bales up on a trailer and trying to keep up the pace. I was glad to go to the big round bales.

Lawrence is fortunate in many ways. He needs to know that he is farming with the equipment that I never had but wished I did. The 4440, the 4 row planter, the rake and baler, combine. The only thing in common with me is the Farmall M. I am retired now but I sure enjoy the vids and the equipment.

My dad would run the round baler on a JD4320 while I raked ahead of him on a Farmall. Plenty of dust and sunshine but we didn't know any better. Days gone by that I wish to have back. Treasure each moment, it eventually passes by.

Hello, I enjoy your show very much. Hope you can keep it going and, doing well.
You folks have a lot of talent and , I hope y'all always do well.
One thing you may want to try on your machines where dust is a problem, is
Silicone spray or liquid up put a small sprayer.
The pulley on the bailer is a very good example of the use of silicone solving the problem. Being careful not to get the spray or other product application is VERY important as, if it gets on the paint you can't paint over that area as the paint won't stick.
    Be WELL and carry on.

I do believe that pretty flower was a yarrow plant that made it to seed. Got one of those plant books that talk about herbs? Be a picture in there that tells what all it is used for. Health wise, a very important plant in the scheme of things for people. At least Wrangler jeans are still made in america and we like that. I like the fact that this president says, we are americans n need to use american products. I like that. I sure hope we can open back up soon as we are getting cabin fever. I don't need none extra of that at my age. Won't be long and you can play in your crib! Good luck Sleeves

Raking hay with a double, in a cab. Contrast that with our system back in the day - Ford 4000 open platform with 8’ side delivery rake in 3-point hitch. Even I’d have liked to rake with your equipment! I’d spend a half morning mowing on a Ford 2000 with 7’ sickle bar, then grease the baler and rake, then switch over to the rake and rake up the prior days cutting, then Dad would come home from work and fire up the Allie Chalmers WD45 with small round baler, and start on what I raked that afternoon. I’d finish a half hour or so ahead of him. Rinse, repeat. You guys can move so much faster!

If baling barley made you this happy, you'll be delirious when you bale the Sudan. IF you get a good stand, IF you get rain (and Sudan will wait for the rain, a plus), you SHOULD get 2 cuttings, maybe 5 bales/acre first, and 3 next. Top-dress with N between cuttings. Getting a thick stand helps the quality of Sudan and tonnage. Especially the larger seeded "haygrazer" types like you planted. The smaller seeded "triple-cross" hybrids (I think) produce better. Costs more, but a bag will plant 4 acres. But the seed might not be available there. It's kinda a SW thing. 😊 I needed someone to rake right in front of me. I usually had to do both😞. Like you, though, I always loved doing hay, especially on one of those rare "GOOD" days!

I love haying. I could watch it all day. We didn't have cab tractor's in late 60's early 70's when I was baling with my dad. In Montana we would start about 11 am after the dew was off and bale until the dew stopped us about 11 or 12 at night. I started baling when I was 12 like your son. I love watching your family work together.

It sure is nice to have a beautiful day and to get all the work done without problems or breakdowns I always liked to take and bale hay but our take was a side rake unlike what you have and we had an international tractor and small square baler with a thrower loading on wagons funn!!😎
