Well, a circuit was chosen which would really suit the racecar. Especially the fast corners where downforce is key. Try Monza or Baku. Probably suits the road car better.

You really don't want to cherry pick a track to give a huge advantage to the road car, because that track is never going to be representative of an "average track".
In the process of choosing a track to give the road car a "fair chance" all that's been accomplished is unfairly handicapping the race car.
@@needude7218 Yes, I agree and Monza isn't average, but Austria certainly isn't too on the other end of the spectrum. If you want a more respresentative track, maybe we need Imola or Miami.

Mclaren duel: the higher cornering speeds decided this duel for the race car. 3.45 seconds gap is ok.
Merc duel: DTM Car had almost identical top speed +drs + aero and way better acceleration. 22.66 secs is a destruction
bmw duel: close race, gt4 car got the advantage in the corners. 2.69 seconds is ok
audi duel: the road car hadnt a chance against the rally car. 16.02 is a lot.
Yeah that mercedes duell was brutal. DTM cars of that era where very similar to GT500, not actual touring cars / GT cars, these beasts where proper prototype race cars with a tube frame chassis to make them look like a road car.

You should drive the Le Mans track
The 720s road carwas doing quite well considering it was at a massive disadvantage with the lack of downforce in the corners that require lots of it.
It has better power to weight ratio than the gt2, that's why it was close. Like the M4 also had better power to weight ratio, hence why it was close

My first thought was if the power of the 720s wasn't enough to beat the detuned GT3 version, pretty much nothing else is going to have a chance. The reality is that race cars are typically lighter with much better brakes and are set up for maximum track performance, and road cars are not. I will be surprised if a road car beats a race car in anything other than a drag race
I think the better way to stage these races would be to place the Roadcar(or whatever the lesser car is) ahead of the the Racecar(or whatever the “higher” car is) and see if the Roadcar can stay ahead of the Racecar for a lap. Because even when they start, where they start from is staggered, giving the Racecar an initial advantage

I could do that but the main thing is of this series is seeing if the road car can actually beat the race car, not if it can hold the race car the last half of the lap. I´m already giving them the benefit of doing this duels on a fast track.

@@THEWINDTUNNEL I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying. 9/10 the Racecar/higher car is going to beat the lesser car. That isn’t a race, or a 50/50 it’s literally going to be the outcome. And it furthers the outcome when they do a staggered grid start. Placing the Road car/lesser cad ahead of the Racecar/highcar gives the lesser car SOME TYPE of a benefit to make the actual race more interesting.
The c63 race didn't even need to be made to know the results😂, but it's still interesting to see the lap time difference
Main differences between a road car and a race car? Downforce and weight. The two largest advantages on track, bar none.
The only track the road cars would win on is, say, Le Mans without the kinks.

@@mintgoldheart6126 I think you can still manage to put a single decent lap on the stock brakes of a sports car, but more than that and it'll have the stoping power of an ice block.
I remember slowing a stock Nissan Altezza from 180 to 60 kph or so very hardly one single time, and then my brakes were so faded I didn't dare to even use them in fear they would melt on me! I ended up using mostly engine braking for the remaining of the run.
Tires are a huge part of it, a lot more than downforce probably. The difference between slicks and street tires is tremendous

Wow the M4 GTS really holds its ground very well. It's quite crazy to think if you have a M4 GTS you basically have a slightly toned down race car. Give it slicks and a bit of tuning in the chassis department and you got yourself a quasi race car.
You can even build your own GT4 racecar. Look for example all the cars of Team Schirmer. They basically build the GT4 cars of the M3/M4 road legal.

looking forward to part 3. for part 3 i would like to see the ford gt vs the race version, the ferrari 488 vs its race version and the corvette zo6 vs its race version. the gt cars are based off the road version so it would be interesting to see the difference on track
Try LaFerrari vs FXX-K vs FXX-K Evoluzione. A three-way battle! We can know what effect is given by the bigger engine power and more wings on the Evo, and how different is a road car from an XX Programme car.
570s vs the gt4 version. Same with the R8 and Mercedes gt4.

why dtm, like stock car brasil or nascar, does not use real cars, but tubular chassis with a shell that looks like the car represented.

i think if you want a good comparison is by putting the stock car at the front, the race version behind and let the car chase it and see what can the stock car do
My own ideas:
Nissan GTR vs Nissan GTR GT3/Super GT
Ford Mustang vs Ford Mustang GT4
Ferrari 488 GTB vs Ferrari 488 GTB GT3
Bentley Continental vs Bentley Continental GT3
Try the NASCAR cup series Camaro ZL1 1LE or mustang GT500, I'd say the road versions of those stand a good chance as they have more power and aero/were basically built for track days, while the NASCAR goes in circles
Classic Le Mans, the long straight would show the difference between corner speed and topspeed
If you want to make a part 3, do AMG GT4 vs regular AMG GT. Black series version would be way faster obviously.

@@W123KartSport Race Car on road tires is more of an obvious choice, if tires don't explode in the game. Road cars can't get race tires up in the right temperature window so the tire advantage becomes useless

The BMW one was a bit tricked, at the start the street one makes a turn for reason. For being fair, not every time the race car leaves first, maybe intercalated
You need a circuit with very little mid speed corners, and mostly low speed corners where only mechanical grip would prevail. Also, there should be a very high difference in peak power to compensate for slicks, aero and lower weight. Only the McLaren and BMW had a fighting chance; the other two were dead from the start.
Also, try and put the road car in first place; if the race car has to overtake it, it will be more of a challenge.
This a series. Each episode will be in different track. We are using Le Mans, Monza, Montreal, Daytona RC, Road Atlanta...

Maybe give the road cars the 1st position then the road cars that are more powerful will have the lead threw the first corner and we can see if the lighter, more aerodynamic version is that much better to take first back with cornering

Such a pity DTM doesnt use class 1 cars anymore. Those cars are absolute beasts, in my opinion the best non open wheel racecars. The GT3 class feels a bit boring when compared to the class 1.

why do they lower the hp on gt versions ?
GT racing cars have been in the 450hp-550hp bracket for the last 20 years. There has been no evolution, mainly for cost reasons. I would say F1 and the WRC are the only series that have had a significant power increase in the 21st century. Prototypes, NASCAR, IndyCar, Touring Cars etc... all have the same or less power than 20 years ago. Production cars have had that evolution. Supercars used to have 450hp in 2000, now they have over 700hp. Electrification has only increased that number. There's cars with over 2000hp. Mind-blowing.

Its a very interesting concept but at the end of the day, the AI is just not up to the job. Every car that had a chance to actually overtake the race car down the straights usually "attacked" on the first corner compromising the exit for the straight and never being able to catch up. Would be interesting if u could also maybe run them alone to see their true performance difference.

This is kind of a silly question. If the road car could beat the race car why would they spend all the time and money developing the race car? They might as well just throw a cage into the road car.

Imagine the cost of 6 cars (build + development + repairs), 6 factory drivers (6/7 figure$ each), a hundred, mechanics, a hundred engineers and all the logistics (specially when they started to have more rounds outside Germany). Audi, BMW & Mercedes spent almost $100 M every year (half of what F1 teams spend today) for like 5% of F1´s relevance

Why is the road car always turning hard left as soon as the lights go out that is going to massively hinder the start of any car let alone one that has a disadvantage. The throttle control on some cars was extremely questionable on off on off on off on off you can hear it best with the last car the quattro but it's there in every car. And yes it would have been better to see the race car go around the road car so the road car should have started in front.
This needs to be reworked to make it more fair even though the concensus is the racecar will be the winner (Is anyone surprised racecars are faster?). Monza is a much better track that favors low downforce. Why is the racecar always first in the stagger? Give the road car a fighting chance by having the racecar needing to go around the road car. Or if you really want to make it fair, hotlap ghost comparisons. Just my two cents to set something up with a possible interesting outcome before all these videos get too repetitive with preditable results.
