    Good content. I keep checking in and have upgraded my suspension springs due to your video on that, glad I did (all RaceTech with Eibach rear spring) Gold Valves planned for winter 2025. I'm on the 2023 KLX300, just hit 4000 miles, have done all of the main mods such as EJK fuel injection tuner, KDX air box snorkel, DNA air filter, removed the secondary butterfly, Delkevic slip on, deleted ALL of the smog stuff & PAIR valve delete, installed the 2.7 gallon eBay fuel tank, replaced all of the levers (clutch front & rear brake pedal) and have tried three options of sprocket combos before settling on my forth... 14/40 to 13/40 to 13/42 and now running my all round favorite 13/45! Most of my on-road riding doesn't require me to exceed 60 Mph so I opted for this combo because I want off-road performance. I did have to buy a new longer chain. Some of these mods are on my channel (I'm not as good of a videographer as you.) Oh, and yes I have that same chain guide (also have the same brand chain tensioners too/cnc'd aluminum in green with KLX etched in), it has taken a beeatinng I prefer it over the stock guide.

      Oh man that is awesome! I’m gonna go watch some of your KLX vids. Thank you for letting me know about the chain guide as well, I was a little worried about it holding up. I bought one from TM design too, I’d like to test em both out. Did your OEM guide break as well?

      @CrustyMac300 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No I didn't break the OEM I just didn't like how got all loaded up with rocks and mud, plus it's heavy and clunky

    Thanks this video was a great help. I just changed my sprocket on my 300sm. Kept the 37 rear but changed to the 13T front. I definitely needed an impact wrench. The breaker bar did not cut it lol.

    Hands down u have the best Info Content about the 300. 13/42 was definitely the best combo for my previous 2 KLX250's and I think 13/40 is best for the 300 after trying 13/42, and 13/45. I need to update you on my STP opinion also. I said Meh after taking it out initially. But I just got back from a great 100 mile UP MI ride, and offroad having the STP out is definitely noticable in a good way. In fact, if u feel like tinkering someday you should try that with the 13/40 cuz the bike is more powerful low rpm and pulls taller gears better. But being in second gear 13/42 on single track makes the KLX feel like my KDX did in third gear...unstoppable from stand still to 25mph. Heres a fun fact : I bought a AL 45 and SuperLite steel 42 rear sprocket thinking Id save weight off the crank, since Im big on that and the lighter MX chain does wonders for power on my small bore bikes. The OEM 40, Lite steel 42, and and AL 45 all weigh exactly the same LOL. LIghter material but bigger size equaled them all out. I collection of throwing stars now

    • @DerekDualSport
      @DerekDualSport  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really liked 13/40 as well! I gotta put some time in on 13/42 before I seal my opinion. I’m supposed to be meeting up with a KLX rider who took his STP out and I’m hoping to swap bikes for a couple miles. I have a feeling it may be the final tipping point.
      That’s funny about the sprocket weights. Never hurts to have a small collection of large throwing stars 😂

    I just got my 2025 klx300 and I am still in the break in period. I can't go over 4k rpms and that really sucks at the moment but once I get to 150 miles I can go up to 6k rpms which will be a little better. I can't wait till I can actually ride it over those break ins on all the valve settings and seals an stuff lol. But I love the bike so far

    I am leaning to something similar- I still have a lot to learn so I will wait a while. Maybe when I replace the chain and sprockets from natural wear. I am thinking 14/45 as it has a similar ratio, but more chain, and more teeth means; those parts will all last longer without the additional wear / drag / pressure on the chain slider. It also means, I'd have to move the rear wheel forward a lot to fit it.
