You sir, have relieved some of my stress 😂 I’ve been working on a c30 project and have been needing to pick apart some wires and finding the right name for the bulkhead as I’ve seen it called 100 other names. And I didn’t want to pocket out $700 for a whole new harness. Thank you! God bless 🙏🏼
Lonnie, thank you and God bless you sir for your time and making it easy to understand. I also have to see it done to understand it and you do a great job of it! Thanks again!!!!
I just stumbled across this video. Its exactly what i need. I just had a LS5.3 dropped into my 84 c10 and the guy who did it took 7 months. It only about 90% done. Wiring harness is spaghetti. Thanks for the video
Do you happen to know which one of those wires in the big square bulkhead plug, supplies power to the gauge cluster? All my gauges died, and I'm only getting 300 millivolts instead of 12 volts on the main power wire going to the gauges.
Truly appreciate the advice brother thank you. I’ve installed the speedway 22 circuit chassis harness but there is no dedicated reverse light wires. Do you think I could use the third brake light wire since I don’t have the third break light?
I am wondering. Did you need to reuse the spade lugs that were on the wires? Tje reason I ask is, I am wondering why you didnt just cut the wire after you pulled the spade thru the back? BTW, thank you for these videos.
My Bulhead delima was diff so it wasn't hard..just multiple wire broke..I just drilled out each wire hole thru plug and run a short shrink wrapped wire thru hole one the bad connection wires. Shrink wrap was more for a Grommet effect..the resplice wires each end ..shrink wrap ..and repeat 6 times in my case
I have a switch that came from inside my truck. It has a nipple on one end and it plugs on to 4 wired. One green, pink, black and green with a black line. Can’t figure out where it goes
You will need gauges out of a 90/91 blazer or suburban. That’s the year they switched to electric speedometer. Then you will have to repin the cluster plug. I’ve got videos on here showing it.
i pulled the engine wiring harness from my 1970 el camino 350 engine a 350 trans was going to replace it but the harness i was going to replace it with another from a 1970 chevelle but was worst then mine so when i plugged in my harness i got nothing at all no power to anything just dead could you tell me what i did wrong?
Do you know where to get a replacement engine side male plug for the connector? The bunch that is for the engine harness. Been searching and can’t find a part number.
Hey man I've got the same year chevy except 4x4. Will I need to run a heavy Guage wire off the back of the alternator stud to my battery? I see yours doesn't have wire going to the battery from the alternator or does the plug from the ls harness do the work? And did you figure out what to do with the brown wire coming from the bulkhead that went to the original alternator from the sbc ? Thanks
@@LonniesGarage ok cool so I need to run a wire from the stud on alternator to the stud on the starter? Wouldn't going directly back to the battery do the same thing ? Or could I go from alternator to the block on the firewall also? Because the wire that originally ran from the block on the firewall went to the starter and alternator
Hi I know this is an old video but I had a question on that outside wiring box. Why do the wires look melted around the plastic? Mine looks like yours and I thought it may be going bad.

Ok I have a 98 3500 chevy 454 fuel injection and a manual transmission going in a 81 chevy c30 and was wondering if your wiring video would work for me
I’m working with a 77 k15 and a terminator X, so some things are different. My issue is identifying which wire is the constant hot? The wire you mention in your video was never pinned in my bulkhead. Watched you video testing the starter wire, 12v switched and it is gold, but do you know a way to find the 12v constant hot source?
There are 2 wires u can run for constant 12v. They both need to be hooked up. One is for your hvac stuff and the other powers your fuse block under the dash. It's the two bigger red wires running into the bulkhead
@@LonniesGarage Oh That makes sense. It seems doing your tests you showed, I can interchange two of the wires between battery, while the other becomes keyed hot. I’m assuming those would be the two constant hot sources?
Correct. You will need the big plug that plugs to the stock underhood fuse block on the donor. There will also be a few more plugs from that same area that will unplug there too. That u will keep on the harness
Lonnie: Did you delete/remove any part of the factory harness you didn't need? I'd like to take out what I don't need if I'm not using it. I plan to still run factory AC still. Thanks in advance!
Lonnie's Garage No worries was just curious. If it was a lot or just a few? I'd be ok with leaving most of it in just in case. I can just hide wires or run them nice.
I know that but the brown alt wire that comes out of the fire wall has to be spiced in..The wire from the ls harness can make the alt gauge work without the factory brown alt wire.. Trust me I had to do the same thing...I'll give you a shout tomorrow..
Lonnie's Garage (Puppetkicker) holy cow..Someone used the temp wire for the electric choke on the carb. Couldn’t figure out where that dang wire was suppose to be. Thanks!
