I think Brendan Fraiser has gotten the closest to any actor at recapturing the Harrison Ford Han Solo/India Jones character's vibe. Competent when he needs to be hilariously unlucky when he's not.
Also, The Mummy is the perfect mix of action, adventure and humor.

I'd say Brendan Fraiser was the Chris Pratt of the 90s, but if some queermo producer tried to diddle Chris Pratt in his dressing room, he'd be choked out within seconds while Chris made him denounce his Judaism and accept Christ as his personal savior.

You should definitely do Mummy Returns as well. Rick and Evie are battle couple goals in the second one. It is, all around, a very strong sequel. It dives a little deeper into Imotep and Anck Su Namun's backstory. The main six actors all came back for the sequel as well so that fantastic romantic and comedic chemistry is still there.

But I always smile with a twitch in my eye when I hear him say "here I come Ladies!!!" And laughs. He knew he was gonna die. But knowing his mission was to save the world. He went happily as a hero like his friends in the war. And felt worthy of joining his fallen comrades. Which is why he had such a broad smile in death. Right before the desert claimed his remains.

Shortly after this film came out a psychologist published an article talking about Jonathan Carnahan as a character. They pointed out that Jonathan's lack of concern for his own survival, his seeming alcoholism, his willingness to cut corners, his gambling and so on indicates that he most likely is suffering from PTSD. And given that he's the right age for it, its likely Jonathan is a veteran of World War I -- and being British probably acquired the PTSD in the trenches of France and Belgium.
There's a lot of little clues, such as the scene where Rick O'Connell says, "I've had worse" (talking about the odds against them) and Jonathan immediately adds, "So have I".

I love Brandon in this and Mummy 2. All his work really. I watch this a few times a year, he and Oded Fehr, the gentle man who is head of the Madji…OMG both he and Brendon. His character was supposed to die, but he was too popular.
Edit: I LOVED your reaction! i loved it because it was like watching it for the first time again. I kept saying, “just wait “ every time you made a comment about things like Benny getting his, i was so fun to watch.

Nefertari and Nefertiti (not in this movie) were 2 different people. They were real, so were Imhotep, Seti I and Anck-Sun-Namun.
Nefertari was not the daughter of Seti I as they lived centuries apart, she was however the wife of his son Ramesses II (also known as Ramesses the Great), his beloved wife who sits by his side in the temple of Abu Simbel in Egypt. So technically she was his daughter in law.
Imhotep was born before Seti I and was the great priest and architect to the Pharoah Josier, Imhotep constructed and designed the first pyramids of Egypt. So there was no way that in real life, he could of known anyone else I just named.
Anck-Su-Namun was the daughter of Nefertiti (again not Nefertari) and Ahkenaten, a Pharoah, therefore making her a princess. She was the wife of King Tut and his half sister (Akhenaten was his dad, his mother was another one of his wives)
Therefore there was no way that historically they could of known each other.

However, if you really pay attention to The Mummy Returns, you WILL start to see certain parts of The Mummy (such as when Imhotep calls Evie, “My Princess,” and why he chooses Evie as his human sacrifice for Ancksunamun) in a whole new light! It’s one of those things where once you know, there’s no going back.

When Benny is confronted by The Mummy for the first time, he starts rattling off prayers in several tongues and faiths. When he lands on Hebrew, Imhotep recognizes it as "the language of the slaves", meaning when Imhotep was alive, he was familiar with the Hebrew slaves as documented in history and in The Bible. It is only because Benny can speak Hebrew, the Mummy sympathizes with him to be useful. I always loved this one scene and its attention to detail of the characterization between both.
The different jars the treasure hunters get are canopic jars. When a person was mummified, the Egyptians believed their organs would travel with them but preserved them separately in jars containing the vital organs; stomach, intestines, liver and lungs. The heart remained in the body as it was they believed, housed the soul.
The main reason Imhotep was afraid of cats is that in his day, cats were seen as gods and brought with them good tidings, he however, was a cursed creature and thus opposite. Thus Egyptians worshipped their cats as living incarnations and would mummify them too if expenses allowed. Today is no different, cats expect to be treated as gods. It's in their DNA.

What really adds to the story is that the villains are "sympathetic". You don't have to like them, don't have to cheer for them, but they're just fighting their circumstances like the heroes. They have valid motivations for what they're doing. I like that the protagonists cause a good deal of their own grief too. Everyone is human, some are just more undead than the others.

    LOVE THIS MOVIE!!
    YES!!
    One of my favorites!
A lot of horror film directors were attached to the remake since the 1980's, like Wes Craven, John Landis, John Carpenter, Joe Dante, David Cronenberg,Mick Garris, Clive Barker, Tobe Hooper, and George Romero were considered for the job.
Stephen Sommers, a fan of the original Mummy movies, was hired after his last film DEEP RISING, bombed at the box office in 1998.
Sommera said that the film was a cross between "Indiana Jones meets Jason And The Argonauts," as the monster or villain always gives our hero a hard time.
Before Brendan Fraser was cast as Rick O'Connell, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone, Matthew McConaughey, Brad Pitt, Chris O'Donnell, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Tom Cruise were considered for the role.
Cruise would later star in the 2017, which was not well received by Critics or fans of the original. It was a box office disappointment, making $410 million dollars against a $195 million dollar budget, losing Universal $95 million dollars.
Even Brendan Fraser called it a "Heartless, joyless, soulless reboot of a beloved film series."
The film was a box office success making $420 million dollars ($700 million dollars today) against an $80 million dollar budget.
