i really love the part where luffy says ''i'm gonna be the pirate king'' and katakuri responds with ''you're looking quite far into the future''
Luffy made him a believer... That's maybe his greatest moral victory over the Big Mom Pirates

I liked the irony ! Katakuri having this enhanced form of observation Haki where he can pretty much slightly see into the future and how he tells Luffy he's seeing "a bit too far" as if verbally implying that Luffy has surpassed him. Great stuff !

KingOne good vs evil, hero vs villain. One piece isn’t written like a fairy tail. They both had people they wanted to protect, neither was looking to kill. They were both villains and at the same time neither was a villain.

I never said luffy is not a hero, he makes it very clear within the series himself by saying “I’m not a hero”. Noah Eden so he’s the hero because it’s his story we’re following, and katakuri is the bad guy because he is the guy our guy is fighting against. Gotcha.... just don’t see it that way tho. Is he a villain because he was born from bigmom? Is he a villain because he was warding off intruders who were after his mother’s life? What actions or motives did he show that you’re able to cast him off as a villain? I know this is all fictional, but something about your guys mentality irks me.

Katakuri is very compassionate towards his family. He wouldn't even harm Flampe when she disrespected him and spit in his face. I think his triple brothers Daifuku and Oven would of slapped her silly for such disrespect.

I'm kinda disappointed that you left out luffy's sign of appreciation in covering his mouth with his hat right before pekoms arrived. I thought that was a true sign of respect between warriors on both sides. Kat who fell on his back and luffy who took the time to cover his mouth.
Well I feel like out of all of Luffy's enemies Kat was the most honorable. I don't think any of his other opponents would wound themselves due to ally inference.

@@mevan883 When you think about it, Smoker did something similar when he allowed himself to get his ass kicked by Vergo to get back Law's heart. Yeah he was helping Law but Smoker at the time was extremely distrustful of Law and even tried to capture him earlier. Smoker only helped him in the end because Luffy convinced him to.

@@yuval1405 katakuri won’t become a friend. He is still loyal to big mom and his family. He respects luffy as a fighter but he would still try to kill luffy given the chance.

They never actually go over that. I guess he was just flicking haki embued jellybeans. How much do you have to suck to get got by a jellybean. Another premise of mine I thought it was by product of his mochi powers since he generates them out of thin air. Someone needs to ask Oda about this in the next SBS

I really hope Oda bring Katakuri back and be somewhat relevant. I know it’s not Black Beard or Akinu, but I would love to see him leave more impact into the story. He is my favorite villain in all of One Piece.

If I were to make a list of badass characters, he'd be at the top.

He just got better and better with every chapter he was in. I love that majority of his progression as a character came during the fight with Luffy.
I know a lot of people didn’t like how Luffy won because his opponent gave up, but like the video you made he saw Luffy’s actions and saw a person he wanted to be. Katakuri hid himself for years and turned into an emotionless fear-monger in order to protect his family. The first thing Luffy does when he enters the mirror world is smash the mirror to the sunny inorder to protect the people important to him and potentially sacrificing himself for his crew
I still can’t believe this mans strength. I do believe that Luffy beating him was really cool but felt that he shouldn’t have been beaten by Luffy, but you know, snakeman. 😂
I would say that Luffy is one of the best opponents for him. Someone who betrays his expectations, in a respectful way at that. It gave Katakuri new perspective on his own life.
I don't think someone like Kaido would be a good opponent. One-shotting him would n't have the same effect.

By far my favorite character in one piece
You know what I just noticed? When they were kids and Brulee was attacked, where was Big Mom? You would think no one would mess with these kids if they knew they were the children of Big Mom.
Late AF, but: That's a good question.
Though tbh if her attitude towards her kids back then is anything like today, chances are she didn't really care that much, if at all.
Plus there's the matter of Big Mom's potential reputation and power (not the physical kind) at the time, which is no doubt quite different from today, being 25, she might not have even been with the Rocks Pirates at the time.
Or maybe she was, we don't really know.

I don't even think Kata looks up to Big Mom as a mom. He sees her as a boss and will be loyal to her because his siblings who he genuinely care for are subjects to a powerful monster.

Katakuri could have keeped fighting but what was the point of that, Luffy didn't represent a threath too his family especially too big mom Katakuri was just fighting for his dumb pride. He wanted too hear Luffy's answer too what he asked and when he heard Luffy say he'll return too defeat Big Mom he was glad with it and purposely collapsed. Remember Luffy wants too beat her not kill her and that's one of the reasons Katakuri let him go.
He had no business losing to luffy, but he grew fond of him
Plot armor is a bitch. He should have been able to easily defeat luffy but his pride and luffy plot armor was too op
To be honest the mochi mochi no mi is not the most OP fruit it's just Katakuri that makes it looks so awesome, truly one of the greatest devil fruit user in One Piece
Regardless being able to spawn arms out of floating donuts and convert the world into mochi is insanely useful.
I was about to watch a new video from chuggaaconroy's Phantom Hourglass LP. Then I saw the thumbnail for this video. I've never clicked so fast away from LoZ content. It's literally a "Hold my tea." moment. I would say "beer", but black tea is the only thing to have with "forbidden, super delicious doughnuts".
I didn't think GLR would do Katakuri's video this soon, especially after releasing the Charlotte sons and daughters videos not long ago. That said, seeing what we know thus far about Katakuri, his "anglerfish mouth", his heroic persona (which I'm not surprised he helped perpetuate), and his similarities to what Luffy COULD be (They both fight with all their beings to protect that which is closest to them.)... it reminded me of Oct. 2017, the first time we attended the 2 PM merienda in the manga, where I finally saw what all the fuss about Totland's resident "king of the badasses" was all about.
P.S. Pelican eels are too scary, ugly and slimy a thing to compare Katakuri to. My go-to comparison has always been an anglerfish, which despite being scary to look at also hold an inexplicable beauty about them. Anyone who remembers the anglerfish scene in Finding Nemo remembers how alluring and mysterious that luminescent lure they have is. Fun fact: the anglerfish that you see in pictures, the "ugly mugs", are actually the FEMALES, which can be connected to the fact that he took on this heroic, "never lost a battle", "never let his back touch the ground" reputation on for his favorite little sister, Brûlée.

Katakuri is not only the coolest character of One Piece but one of the best characters to have ever existed in the entire history of anime & manga and has achieved true perfection in every possible way either in design, personality, powers, badassery and the other aspects.

There are not many characters in fiction that have genuinely EARNED my respect like Katakuri did. A fascinating character both before and after the fight, and one deserving of the praise he's received since his manga debut to his recent defeat in the anime

I always liked him just for the fact his mochi is somehow equal to the gum gum. I feel like if any other character had it, they would not be able to do anything he could.
I feel like the only reason Katakuri was stronger than Luffy at all is because of the observation haki. Luffy was absolutely exhausted and had been through countless trials before fighting Katakuri and still put up a decent fight.
