- The life of Katakuri. Katakuri, also known in the series as the man with a bounty of Billion, is the second son of Big mom - Charlotte Linlin family.
Katakuri is a tall trident wielding fighter, who wears a black trouser, a slim jacket, and ties a black scarf around his neck and face to hide his crazy big mouth, and walrus-like teeth
In their final exchange, Buzz cut Mochi vs King cobra, they both knock each other down. Although they both finally get up, Katakuri realises the determination in Luffy to become pirate king, and just falls on his back as he can not continue the battle anymore

To me, Katakuri and Luffy perfectly mirror Whitebeard and Roger. Both Whitebeard and Katakuri had admiration for their rivals goal, even if it's something they themselves weren't particularly interested in. Both had a theme around family and had unrequited love for their family (even though Flampe was a brat and highly disappointed Katakuri I can see him forgiving her much in the same vein as Whitebeard forgiving Squard). And come on, both of them are unnaturally tall for regular humans, plus they have polearm weapons (trident and halberd/spear thing). I think it goes without saying what Luffy's comparison's to Roger are. And that these men ended up becoming more like long time friends than enemies.

katakuri received 5 back to back hits from bounceman and 1 kick from base luffy when katakuri was enraged after chefs and luffy saw him eating which distracted katakuri from his composure hence he couldnt utilize observation haki and THAT is NOT part of a full power 1v1 fair and square matchup which is what luffy says before he goes back into the mirror world saying "i want to beat him at full power" well kat wasnt 100% due to outside interferences and he still proved he was overall more powerful than luffy
why didnt katakuri use his awakening against snakeman in their 20 minute battle? go on... lets see what headcanon will u use this time to cover this error... bcz THERES NONE
plor armor, outside interferences, katakuri's intentions favored luffy and the most fascinating fact of them all is that katakuri STILL proved he was more powerfull overall than luffy who was 1YC caliber at that time!!!

can I just say kata is the best only cause he fights with honor not letting one person get a power up or the other way he fights making sure it’s a fight based on pure strength and won’t take anything from anyone even if it’s also about how unfairly he fights and opponent he won’t take it he’ll make sure that when he fights there’s honor to both him and his opponent which is why I find him the best and my favorite person luffy has fought as he also hurt himself just to make it a bit more fair of a fight

you need to realize WHAT and WHY katakuri got back up and asked if luffy would ever come back to take down big mom! all his siblings and crewmates including him refer to big mom as "momma" so why call her big mom in front of a (supposedly) enemy? SIMPLE! He wants her OUT of that throne, the siblings kat loves so dearly are getting threaten, killed, used for big mom's benefit he doesnt want that, he has a will of his own and he had enough of it so he retaliates, he entrusted the fate of his family to luffy to one day liberate them and its even thematic with luffy's df nika nika no mi the liberator! and it worked! big mom was taken down by luffy's alliance his strongest ability like mihawk says is to gather people around him and fight with him and thats what law & kidd did!
after kat inflicts a deadly wound on himself he drops the jacket with the name charlotte on it "big mom's epithet" and shows his winged tatto on his back which represents freedom something he doesnt have under big mom's leadership, its natural that kat wants big mom to be taken down he literally said it to luffy, these things have been shown and done by oda COUNTLESS times they re not a coincidence its just that one piece fans are probably the least intellegent among all of fiction fans... you simply cant respect, like, entrust someone to liberate you BUT ALSO KILL HIM!
katakuri's "perfect" persona and undefeated streak was created for the benefit of his family, luffy showed him that being carefree once again and embracing true self is the way to go! so kat will OBVIOUSLY abandon this fake persona and his undefeated streak if it meant that his family sooner or later will finally be free from big mom's tyranny
luffy had a flashback during his fight with katakuri, rayleigh was in the flashback saying "among the most powerful people in the world there are those who can see a small glimpse into the future" so a legend like rayleigh ackowledges katakuri as one of the world's strongest! this portrayal alone puts him on a pedistole higher than people like king, marco and sanji who are just "good" haki users and this statement is something that from a portrayal perspective these 3 arent capable of exerting superiority of someone like kat!
rayleigh continues "they are tough to beat, what will u do when u encounter one?" and luffy doesnt answer with a battle suited strategy or a power related ability INSTEAD he proves BY HIMSELF what was truly happening between him and katakuri and says "it depends on what character the opponent has, like when u cannot escape" luffy here describes perfectly his situation with kat, trapped into an alternative dimension but also "depends on the character".... hmmm so obviously katakuri isnt going berserk on him, mid way through the battle kat stops using his trident, he doesnt try to suffocate him with his massive AOE of mochi, he allows him to get back up again and again AND luffy literally asks permission to enter gear 4!!! and what happens then? luffy goes snakeman! this is something that he created with the blessings of rayleigh, something battle suited to compete properly against future sight users due to enormous speed continiously and rapidly hunting down the opponent! on top of that luffy unlocked FS nearly as good as katakuri himself... and what happens? katakuri didnt even used his awakening in his 20 min battle against snakeman and STILL slightly outperformed him, he speedblitzed him twice, snakeman NEVER managed to dodge a single him from katakuri and after the first diced mochi katakuri INSTEAD of covering the massive crate he made from the outstanding impact of his attack he doesnt choose to cover it with tons of mochi using his awakening and put an end to this fight... NO he basically cheers for luffy to get back up....
not to mention kat received 5 back to back hits from bounceman due to him being enraged since the chefs and luffy saw him eating which ISNT part of a fully fledged full power fair and square 1v1 matchup then we have idiots saying flampee's interference didnt play any role HOWEVER luffy's last and most decisive attack the king cobra connected on kat's self inflicted deadly wound! this proves that if flampee didnt interfere this wouldnt have happened, circustances favored luffy MASSIVELY there!!! and kat STILL got back up proving he could still last 1 more round
plot armor, intent, outside factors are the reason luffy got this pseudo victory but in the end it was kat's desire.... this is a certain win for katakuri, he earned it and he proved despite the plor, his intent and interferences that he was overall more powerful than luffy who became 1stYC caliber in during that fight!!!

The reason Katakuri laid down after they both got knocked out and got back up. It’s because he used his future site and he was about to kill Luffy, but then he saw if he killed him, he would awaken. Gear 5 so he just lost the battle because he was not gonna deal with that.
