Tips & Tricks | Deform Text using the Corner Pin in Cavalry.

Alex walks you through setting up a simple text animation using the Corner Pin to deform several text layers by moving Nulls.

The part when connecting bottom to top Y position moves the corner pin and distorts the type, even though the crosses were in exactly same position beforehand.

I stumbled upon the same problem but the trick is to move the pins individually once you duplicate. I had to recheck 1:40, they are moving the pins and not the whole element.

Hello,
When I trim my text with the corner pin, my text gets distorted and I don't understand why. If anyone has encountered the same problem and managed to solve it, I'd love to hear about it 😉

Great tutoriallooks very useful and simple, but when i try to connect textshape with cornerpin operator type gets destroyed... any ideas, why

If you follow the steps it should work (just tried it)? You don't connect at the start, more that you make the Text a child of the Corner Pin Layer once you've set up the Nulls. Just be aware that you'll need to hold 'S' to direct select the Nulls since this video was created. This is due to changes to how Group selection works (the Nulls are children of the Corner Pin Group).

@@cavalryapp Thank you for your fast feedback. Unfortunatley it won't work. - I hold S while placing the Null. At the end when i parent the text layer with the "Corner Pin" the text squeeze away

@@user-qc7ep2ni5e hi, you'll need to jump on Discord or open a support ticket with some detailed steps around what you're doing. I've just followed Alex's steps in Cavalry 2.0.3 up to around 1:10 and it works in the same way he's doing it.
