Hey Kyle ! Your video is a great way to start Cavalry ! Loved it ! 🔥 I just got a small question about the glow effect you have on number 4, did you paid the pro version to get this effect or not ? Cheers from France :)
Hi Kyle, love this insight into how you work, I have been learning loads and trying to keep up with you! haha. Do you have any tips on being able to find free Variable Fonts that work well like the example you use?
I’m still figuring this out too. You can download a bunch of free demos from ABC Dinamo for non-commercial use. I have also paid a reasonable amount for some others, like Whirly Birdie, which was only $30 I think. I’ve been following type foundries on a Instagram looking for new VF drops with demos.
great tutorial. thx! - i can't figure out how animation control ist working. have been watching the 8-sequence (13:30) about a hundred times ;) do you/does anybody know of a tutorial where this technique is explained in detail?
I wish the Domestika course was out already! I could point you to the detailed explanation I have in there. You should be able to connect an animation control directly to any keyframed property, but if you need to talk through it some more you can hop in the Cavalry discord channel and I or others can help you there.
Amazing tutorial. One question, if I add an ellipse shape, I don't see the options for shape type, radius, semicircle, bezier in the attribute editor. Where are they?
Thanks. You might have create editable primitives turned on. You can uncheck it in the shape menu, then when you create primitive shapes they should retain their properties
I have a question; If you pause here 11:25 you see that on the edge of the 9 the circles get smaller. Is there a way to make every circle the same size?
If you don't use any gray values in the source material you should be able to keep the scale of the circles the same. You could also clamp the scale in the graph editor for the number range
Hi Kyle, is there a way to sample the color from a source (like a photo) for each clone? Like you would do in AE where each layer uses the color where the anchor point is positioned on?
@@KyleDailyMedia thank you for your quick reply, but I mean something like in this example: th-cam.com/video/DtQWOYqvPbU/w-d-xo.html Where the colors from the source image are applied on the ellipses in the duplicator.
This is SO awesome, please keep making Cavalry tutorials!
This was incredible, thank you. I need to take a year off and just mess with this every day :D

Yes I believe is used a glow filter, which is beta and only available to premium users.
@@KyleDailyMedia oh ok ! maybe I'll consider being premium then, thank you for your answer :)

@@KyleDailyMedia Legend, thanks so much for your reply. Looking forward to more amazing tutorials from you!
Great tutorial and really solid outcome! Did you use any Forge Dynamics or Falloff behaviors with any of your 36 days of typo animations?
I considered it but the image sampler was more flexible than the falloff-excited to jump into forge soon

@@KyleDailyMedia Thanks, that's it indeed. A feature I wasn't aware of yet. It's compareble to 'make editable' in C4D right?
@@kristiaanvisualstories yes exactly, like parametric objects vs editable objects.

Yes the image sampler will use color data as well by default

Man… Wow. Ok.
why i can not find image sampler but material sampler
It's in the latest release of Cavalry, 1.3, so I'd make sure you're also using the latest version
@@KyleDailyMedia thanks! I am updating now
hey! I am trying to learn this software but I am running into an issue currently. is there a way to to make a chroma key/color mask based on footage?
No, unfortunately not. Cavalry is not a video compositor like Nuke/Fusion/AfterEffects
@@KyleDailyMedia thanks for the quick reply! I understand, and I love the tool either way. hopefully that is a feature added in the future :)
Got stuck 1.5 minutes in when I realised I don't have any of those fonts and would have to pay to download them 😭
You should be able to register and download trial versions for free
