    Thank you for the very helpful tutorial! I'll be checking out your other videos for sure. I'm glad we have a free alternative to After Effects now.
    Would it be possible for you to upload with higher res in the future? Thank you!

      I've had this comment a few times over the years, sorry. My other videos improved as I went along.

    Thanks for the tutorial!
    A quick note, it would be helpful to say exactly what the item is your clicking on vs "This button here". I know it's right in front of our faces, but since it's a project you've done before, the speed is crazy fast. At least a bit of direction of button/property call out, especially when using connectors. But all in all, great tutorial!!

      Fair. I'm really bad at remembering to do that haha

    I am planning to use it on my next project. For vector animation looks perfect.

    • @nicktheritter
      @nicktheritter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me know how it goes! Cavalry loves vector shapes.

      @@Sma-v4y That's close to me too, just replace Resolve with Final Cut and C4D with Blender.

    Love the video! Thanks for putting this out there.
    Question -- do you know if there's a way to animate a variable font's weight from left to right in a string on text? Similar to the first animation in this video. I'm dying to figure this out!!

    • @nicktheritter
      @nicktheritter  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@evanwhite1381 that’s available in the beta right now. Otherwise you have to create a new text layer for each letter and use a falloff.

    Thanks Nick! Trying to learn Cavalry whenever I find some time to eventually make the complete switch :)
    How much are you using Cavalry? Are you using it for your client projects?

    • @nicktheritter
      @nicktheritter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Glad hear I’m not the only one haha
      I haven’t used it in client work yet. My job prefers we stick to After Effects where possible, which makes it tricky to try new software. I used Houdini on a project though, so I should be able to find some excuse. :)

    • @Mackesomething
      @Mackesomething 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nicktheritter Uhh Houdini! How is the learning curve going for you on that program?

    • @nicktheritter
      @nicktheritter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mackesomething It was pretty insane actually. I feel like every time I pulled it out it required at least a few hours of R&D to get what I wanted. I feel like I'd have to use it every day for years to really get up to speed on it. Love that software though. I'm a sucker for procedural workflows :)

    Excellent tutorial Nick! Unfortunately I can't find the weight validation parameter switch, I used the same font as you. I started today and can't find any informations about this tool, could you help me? There is another way to make the weight keyframes?

    Great video! Can you change the kerning? And set metric or optical kerning?

    • @nicktheritter
      @nicktheritter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the current release, no, but I believe that’s being addressed in 1.1, which is incoming soon.

  • @timvw01

    Would you use this program also as the 'main' video editor? So bringing a blender amimation, voice over and animated vectors together into one video?

    • @nicktheritter
      @nicktheritter  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not quite yet. I'd recommend Resolve for that. Cavalry doesn't handle EXRs too consistently. Color spaces are totally fleshed out, and many sound features are still in beta.
      Honestly, I don't like using AE for online/finishing editing either. IMO, that step is best done in a video editor like Resolve, Final Cut or Premiere.

    @nickritter I need to create a typewriter style text effect on Cavalry for some of my text. Can you please tell me how that can be done?
