I'm still not entirely sure why everyone hates the cladding so much. I'll admit that I wasn't a huge fan of it initially, but the look has grown on me and it actually makes sense to have them in my opinion. They protect the bottom of the car from rock chips and other debris. I'd much rather have the plastic take the hit as opposed to getting the paint all chipped up and scratched (granted you'll still get some of this wear with everyday driving). Regardless of how people feel about the looks, it is a fantastic car and is a blast to drive. And if you want to mod it and make it look unique, there is plenty of aftermarket support to customize the car to your liking. I honestly think that people just like to complain for the sake of complaining.
Hey Que I've owned a VB for a few months and can confirm some of your thoughts. The first tank of gas is awful. I suspect that they indeed put in regular at the dealer. There's also some theory that the ECU pulls timing for a few hundred miles as some kind of break in thing but there's no proof. The regular gas seems more plausible. But that will for sure change after a few tanks of gas. In terms of it feeling slow, the way subaru tuned this car is for flat / smooth torque delivery all the way to redline. it won't feel punchy like previous WRX's. You can change that with a tune but I personally prefer it this way. If you're curious there are stock dyno charts available online that you can take a look at. They also have boost by gear on this car, so 1st gear feels gutless, 2nd and 3rd are when it really opens up. And the gears are pretty short so sometimes it feels like you run out of rpms as the fuel cutoff is pretty early. But this can also be changed with a tune. You should also know that while the initial break in is 1000 miles, the car overall won't feel broken in until around 5000 miles. I mean in terms of engine, suspension, shifting, and overall driving dynamics... you'll notice that the experience will change in a positive way after around 4000-6000 depending on your driving habits. There's also a crazy amount of aftermarket support for this car and a pretty large community on reddit / facebook groups. I hope you enjoy it and am excited for more content from you on this car!
I'm happy to see this. The more I drive it the more it seems to wake up. I do wish it revved higher but it certainly is punchy. I installed a mod today that made me love it a whole lot more. I'll release the video Saturday or next week.
glad you're enjoying the car so far, and ya i lose audio on phone calls too, its pretty annoying but might have a future update for them to fix that, because the TR uses another software version than the other trims/prev years. they might of messed something up and u cant update it yet... but the good thing is they did release updates for the prev models multiple ones cuz i got the 2023 version as well so was able to update infotainment system pretty easily
sometimes i will lose carplay if i turn on hotspot and then restart the car, if that happens u gotta turn off hotspot turn ur wifi and bluetooth on and wait for carplay to connect then turn hotspot on
Oh no the car doesnt have hotspot im saying if i turn my hotspot on my phone so my girl could get internet it messes up the carplay. if u restart the car so i gotta turn my hotspot off for it to work lol
I love my VB WRX! Its so underrated and hated on but if you go test drive one you'll end up loving it. Manual, awd, decent power and practical. You can also get it at a great price on the other trims. And there's so many mods already and in production so you're going to have a great time customizing it to your liking.
In TR form the best drivers car on the market to me and aside from the GR C, it’s the only car giving off rally vibes which I personally prefer over the integras street style
unpopular opinion, but I think the cladding looks good and really aggressive! even in the back I really like the look of these vbs i currently own an 09 wrx
Very interested to see what mods you have planned. One you may want to consider is the armrest extension. Makes it a lot more comfortable on longer drives.
Another cheap mod to make the shifter feel better is the Perrin brass bushing, You gotta get under the car, but it's a relatively quick and easy install. Hope you're enjoying it!
Dang this man already started modifying his TR with Cobb parts like he's a seasoned Subie WRX owner!!! 😮 TBH I actually like the rear angle on this car especially in the color that you got yours in, I think it's going to look mean AF once you get your tints done, and lol at that train that scared you 😆😆😆 Man I can't wait to see how you modify your Subie!!! It's going to be fun to see what you do with yours.
The cladding grew on me, I like it on WR blue now. It's quirky in a sea of cars that look largely the same in the homogenized world in which we live. Also regarding the shifter, they have a factory short throw. Regarding car sickness, I also enjoy being a passenger in my buddy's WRX compared to other cars.
When you installed the shift stop, how was it doing the zip tie thing to adjust the stop? I need to readjust mine, and that looks like it makes it easier.
Just fyi the Sti short shifter on these is junk if it’s anything like the prior chassis ones. I had one in my va and compared it against a buddy’s without, barely a diff. Luckily it was no cost to me but if I was to choose one myself I’d go a diff route. Love your channel bro.
I remember sitting in the sti/wrx wagon in early 2010s, somewhere around there and the shifter feeling like a truck lol. Surprised theyre still doing it. Still pretty sweet car though and can adjust it in the aftermarket.
He had to have the engine replaced in the integra , the dealer then gave it back to him half full of oil in the new block and also curbed one of his wheels. He got tired of crap customer service and didn’t trust the car anymore.
@@lucian7182 I did follow that whole story. That's some bad luck, but I think he made the change because he's a automotive TH-camr, and new car = new content. He admits a few times here the the WRX is a bit of a downgrade
I feel like so many automakers are just narrowly missing the mark when it comes to their enthusiast cars and the new WRX is a perfect example…it’s good car but like you said it’s about 15% away from being the flagship sports sedan we all know the WRX to be (And why they put all this effort into BS trims instead of making an STi eludes all of us 😑)

I would have to sit in other trims back to back to see about that. I can compare them soon. I would like the extension on the armrest as well. The stock one is lackluster
I’d Definitely be taking the TR over the Integra as well. You just don’t get the mechanical and rawness in the Acura or any other brand really aside from maybe the GR Corolla. And the TR is just a great car made even better. I can’t think of any car I’d take over the TR. it’s a no frills drivers car and the only rally looking vibe option in a sea of street style cars
