In an episode of SATC, Miranda was having phone sex and discovered the guy on the line was having simultaneous phone sex with another person. She shut that down fast. Now “new” Miranda is ok with her girlfriend preferring her ex husband to her during a threesome.🙄
I don't like the new Miranda either but don't you think sometimes certain people can bring out the worst in us in a relationship? I am usually pretty strong woman who wont take crap but have definitely surprised myself that with certain people I have ended up becoming insecure and tolerating things in relationship that never thought I would put up with
What about the episode where no one wants to have a threesome with Miranda and she goes to therapy for it and asks her therapist if he’d want a threesome with her. Then she answers an add to be in a threesome and decides not to go for it.
At the beginning of this season they had a chance to redeem this character.......until the scenes in episodes 3 and 4. At these point we are at the point of no return. This character is unredeemable and one of the most hated characters I've seen on tv in a long time. This is not just my sentiment. Look at the comments sections across various channels and across all social media. This character is DESPISED....and I'm being nice with my words.

I don’t know that it was a missed opportunity. I’m sorry to those who disagree but I really think the creators and actors of SATC should have accepted that their time in the sun, as far as the show was concerned, was over when the show ended. They didn’t need the movies and they don’t need AJLT. And that’s coming from a person who was excited about the first movie and kinda liked it. All they’ve done is embarrassed themselves. I do agree however that the show could be better!!! So if that’s your point I definitely agree with that even if I don’t think it needed to exist.
A new Big might have worked, but a new Samantha? Nope. I feel like most of us are invested in Kim Catrall as Samantha. The writers are trying hard to fill in the huge void left by no KC: basically a softcore porn scene with Charlotte, and Carrie talking about "jizz." They can do that as much as they like: it is NOT Samantha and it is NOT Kim Catrall. As for the new characters: super rich, busy people who don't hire an event planner for a major party? They don't even pay attention to RSVPs? That was unbelievable in EVERY way.

Genuine question here. Miranda would never have allowed a man to treat her badly and rightly so. She left Steve in the first movie because of the cheating storyline which was totally out of character for Steve but, she stood up for herself. Fast forward fifteen years and now Miranda (actually Cynthia) has given up her family, career & all self respect to get involved with a totally unlikeable, narcissistic person who has "forgotten" to divorce her husband, expects Miranda to have a threesome & generally treats her like rubbish. Sad.

The reason Steve cheated was because Darren Star flat out said he just wanted to mess up their relationship in the commentary track. I at this point at least wish Miranda would have a come to Jesus moment where she remembers how she was the "take no shit" type of person and decide to become that person again. Like imagine she decided to not anybody right now and work on herself. Cause with the alcoholism and then cheating on Steve like it wasn't a big deal, she needs to do some self reflection.
are you sure it wasn’t Michael Patrick King rather than Darren Star? I am fairly sure that Darren Star had nothing to do with the movies & he definitely hasn’t had anything to do with AJLT. My understanding is that this contributed to Kim Cattrall’s decision to cut ties. They still have to give Darren Star credit for developing SATC but he moved on once the original series ended.
Charlotte already knew how to 'revive' Harry. She dragged the girls a tantric sex class in episode 16, Season 2 of SATC. Where’d ya put your handwritten notes, Char?
This isn’t surprising at all. They seem to have no problem with inconsistency but are able to regurgitate SATC storylines like Miranda’s threesome that didn’t happen and the politician Carrie dated, who was also running for city comptroller (whatever that is) 🙄.

You are so right....but although I lost interest in Season 1 of this...all the lively commentary encouraged me to give Season 2 a try.....;but it is even WORSE than i thought it would be.. The characters before had strengths and weaknesses , humanity, and a bit of common sense. Now looks less well, but the big change is that what character or redeeming qualities anyone above and beyond amusement value is all gone. YOu're supposed to get a bit of wisdom and persepective with age, and certainly even if you are not more beautiful you should be a bit more interesting and useful!! It's got to be a big part of why this is horrible, I think you're right. I've heard the way streaming outfits (Netflix, Amazon, Disney, and now Max) structure the activity of writing and the pay make series writing especially difficult to do and live on. Streaming platforms use quick "mini writers' rooms" that are quick and pay like an Uber "gig" job. The seasons are shorter than they used to be on television as well (AJLT seasons are shorter than SATC). MPK has said that the SATC characters were the result of lots of time spent in development, and streaming platforms try to cut the time and pay spent doing that stuff. I think there's more to this train wreck than just horrible pay, but I think it's got to be a big part. I think actors might have gone on strike in the last couple of weeks as well. So I think the industry indeed is getting bad.

OMG !!! I thought the same thing about Carrie and Lyle . That would be a great storyline . Them falling in love and Lyle being torn between the 2 lifestyles. While Carrie doesn't want to give up a live in hairdresser , lover and a hot man , about the house . Living alone after losing a partner is hard on widows . Why don't they show that ? There would be laughter and heartbreak . No one does flabbergasted better than SJP . I loved Sara Ramirez in Grey's Anatomy. But after seeing her character of Che in AJLT I couldn't help but wonder (call out to Carrie's narration mantra) what will become of Sara's star power?
I agree the writers have failed in creating a likeable character. Sara has an attractive face but comes across as ordinary. The lines are dreadful and sadly that's wrecked her acting. A big climb to get it back😢
I’m honestly shocked Sara came back after all the criticism. The character is clearly narcissistic and unlikeable, and I can’t believe they didn’t give her anymore depth. You’d think Sara would’ve asked the writers, “can we make Che a little more fun?”

I’m a glutton for punishment so I watched this episode after just listening to your recaps. The scenes seem very choppy and it’s like the episode is 45 min but nothing happens! I chuckled at the scene when they were having lunch. But Miranda has to remind people like every 20 min she’s not into men. We get it baby girl🙄. I kept fast forwarding the couple that is friends with Charlotte because I’m like I don’t care about any of this and it’s not fun or interesting. Che is not a good partner. When the ex husband said Che told me if I cent try new things then I’m not the partner for them. I was like wtf that seems so manipulative to me. Also, I kept waiting for Brady to tell his mom off or for Steve to go off but nothing. Miranda is really like I fucked up my family oh well. The episode was a whole lot of nothing.
I have never in my life seen such a bizarre method of storytelling.. It's like we're constantly waiting for the punchline that never arrives, like we're stuck in some version of purgatory, where people look familiar, but they are not behaving like themselves. Every time I watch this trainwreck, I feel like I'm on acid, having a bad trip. Maybe I'm a masochist too lol.

With the scene of Miranda and carrie coming over to the apartment i originally thought that carrie was there for potentially being hooked up with Lyle. Miranda in that threesome was just a repeat of when Samantha and richard were going to have a threesome for his birthday and they just ended up kicking the girl out of the bed🤣. That's now miranda lol. That hat Carrie wore was a mix of a magic carpet and a canoe..friggin stupid!! I'm sure i had many other thoughts about this horrible show🤣. The writing is so awful, they forgot they initially wrote that LTW her dad passed in season 1, (a comment she made to Carrie) but here he is alive and well! You can not make this up? Oh wait, they did! So to your point, not Mr. Big rose from the dead, but the dad from LTW. And Just Like Crap, he is toasting to his daughter!
Charlotte and Harry seem to get the worse storylines. Plus Charlotte and sex talk just seems so odd. I love how Carrie is this famous sex columnist and yet she can't even talk about sex without blushing. Also what kind of hot mess relationship is Miranda in.

I figured out the AJLT as a Novel Carrie is writing... Aidan and Big are the same person. Big is the work Persona and Aidan is who he really is. Carrie was in Love with the work persona and not whom he really is

The only note I think they took is that there needs to be ambient noise/music in a restaurant scene. Before it was quiet. Now you can hear forks, plates and talking like normal.

From the original series, to the movies, to this AJLT disgrace, two decades have passed and I swear she has always been feeling sorry about how old she was at any given point of the story. The reason Steve cheated was because Darren Star flat out said he just wanted to mess up their relationship in the commentary track. I at this point at least wish Miranda would have a come to Jesus moment where she remembers how she was the "take no shit" type of person and decide to become that person again. Like imagine she decided to not anybody right now and work on herself. Cause with the alcoholism and then cheating on Steve like it wasn't a big deal, she needs to do some self reflection.
are you sure it wasn’t Michael Patrick King rather than Darren Star? I am fairly sure that Darren Star had nothing to do with the movies & he definitely hasn’t had anything to do with AJLT. My understanding is that this contributed to Kim Cattrall’s decision to cut ties. They still have to give Darren Star credit for developing SATC but he moved on once the original series ended.

This isn’t surprising at all. They seem to have no problem with inconsistency but are able to regurgitate SATC storylines like Miranda’s threesome that didn’t happen and the politician Carrie dated, who was also running for city comptroller (whatever that is) 🙄.

You are so right....but although I lost interest in Season 1 of this...all the lively commentary encouraged me to give Season 2 a try.....;but it is even WORSE than i thought it would be.. The characters before had strengths and weaknesses , humanity, and a bit of common sense. Now looks less well, but the big change is that what character or redeeming qualities anyone above and beyond amusement value is all gone. YOu're supposed to get a bit of wisdom and persepective with age, and certainly even if you are not more beautiful you should be a bit more interesting and useful!! Self-indulgent and inexcusably pathetic parents...whiney, needy.......

It's got to be a big part of why this is horrible, I think you're right. I've heard the way streaming outfits (Netflix, Amazon, Disney, and now Max) structure the activity of writing and the pay make series writing especially difficult to do and live on. Streaming platforms use quick "mini writers' rooms" that are quick and pay like an Uber "gig" job. The seasons are shorter than they used to be on television as well (AJLT seasons are shorter than SATC). MPK has said that the SATC characters were the result of lots of time spent in development, and streaming platforms try to cut the time and pay spent doing that stuff. I think there's more to this train wreck than just horrible pay, but I think it's got to be a big part. I think actors might have gone on strike in the last couple of weeks as well. So I think the industry indeed is getting bad.

The whole Carrie-Enid "I suffered a loss too" could be perfectly reversed IMO. I can absolutely picture Carrie one-upping someone whit that one. Enid is an older, more bitter Carrie.

While Carrie doesn't want to give up a live in hairdresser , lover and a hot man , about the house . Living alone after losing a partner is hard on widows . Why don't they show that ? There would be laughter and heartbreak . No one does flabbergasted better than SJP . All these possibilities and instead we get old , rich , lady , feminism and strap on s3x jokes .🙄 And Miranda didn't bring up Brady for months . Now her entire life is devoted to him ??? Make it make sense !!!

I agree the writers have failed in creating a likeable character. Sara has an attractive face but comes across as ordinary. The lines are dreadful and sadly that's wrecked her acting. A big climb to get it back😢
I’m honestly shocked Sara came back after all the criticism. The character is clearly narcissistic and unlikeable, and I can’t believe they didn’t give her anymore depth. You’d think Sara would’ve asked the writers, “can we make Che a little more fun?”

Sara is definitely getting type cast as the latina lesbian. Just the goto LGBT latina so shes not showing much range.

I’m a glutton for punishment so I watched this episode after just listening to your recaps. The scenes seem very choppy and it’s like the episode is 45 min but nothing happens! I chuckled at the scene when they were having lunch. But Miranda has to remind people like every 20 min she’s not into men. We get it baby girl🙄. I kept fast forwarding the couple that is friends with Charlotte because I’m like I don’t care about any of this and it’s not fun or interesting. Che is not a good partner. When the ex husband said Che told me if I cent try new things then I’m not the partner for them. I was like wtf that seems so manipulative to me. Also, I kept waiting for Brady to tell his mom off or for Steve to go off but nothing. Miranda is really like I fucked up my family oh well. The episode was a whole lot of nothing.
I have never in my life seen such a bizarre method of storytelling.. It's like we're constantly waiting for the punchline that never arrives, like we're stuck in some version of purgatory, where people look familiar, but they are not behaving like themselves. Every time I watch this trainwreck, I feel like I'm on acid, having a bad trip. Maybe I'm a masochist too lol.

With the scene of Miranda and carrie coming over to the apartment i originally thought that carrie was there for potentially being hooked up with Lyle. Miranda in that threesome was just a repeat of when Samantha and richard were going to have a threesome for his birthday and they just ended up kicking the girl out of the bed🤣. That's now miranda lol. That hat Carrie wore was a mix of a magic carpet and a canoe..friggin stupid!! I'm sure i had many other thoughts about this horrible show🤣. Why did they mess with the recipe for success? Seems nowadays that appealing to certain groups is more important than good writing and substance, and what we get is a mess.
The writing is so awful, they forgot they initially wrote that LTW her dad passed in season 1, (a comment she made to Carrie) but here he is alive and well! You can not make this up? Oh wait, they did! So to your point, not Mr. Big rose from the dead, but the dad from LTW. And Just Like Crap, he is toasting to his daughter!

Am I the only thinking that Che is just annoying asf?? The whole Miranda/Che storyline is just… *5 second eye roll*. I do like the fact that they aren’t subtle anymore about Miranda having low self esteem. She’s always had low self esteem, just her behavior, what she says, and her relationship with Che is just a manifestation.
I am watching AJLT because of some loyalty to the original series, but boy is it painful to watch.

They are pushing these new characters on us and they don’t even care about them that they write massive continuity paradoxes for them 😂😂😂😂 this is the worst show of all time
