That speech is one of my favorite moments in the whole of Doctor Who! It is one of the reasons why 12 is my favorite doctor!
I often play that speech on days when I think this planet's political leadership and "opposition" groups just couldn't get more stupid if they tried. Which means I play it quite often.

I think this is probably one of Capaldi's top five best moments as the Twelfth Doctor. I absolutely love him in that speech scene.
He encompassed everything I know to be The Doctor. I had already fallen in love with Twelve before this. But this episode pretty much solidified what I knew to be true. Twelfth Doctor is My Doctor and always will be
People can feel how they want about Capaldi's Doctor, to me he's the best Doctor ever. Period. But nobody can ever truthfully deny hes the best actor to ever take the role.
I’m sat here weeping all over again. War all over the place. The music comes in on “I did worse things” and how powerful the absence of music was before them.
What a lot of people tend to forget about this episode is that it was released around the time of the terrorist attacks in France. Which I think is why a lot of people initially connected to that speech, as it was surprisingly relevant to what was happening in the world at the time.
And watching it now, given the events of the past month, it's still scarily relevant.

Given the events of the past month, it's heartbreaking how relevant the Doctor's war speech still is.
the Zygon invasion/inversion is NOT in my top 10 favourite stories, but that speech, people go on and on about how good it is, and it is, the best part of the whole story and shows how peter was born to be the doctor. You know whats even more remarkable about this speech/ Peter did it in ONE TAKE. Word perfect, first time, and got a standing ovation for it. If you look in the background you can see Kate and Ozgood crying, thats how good it was, that reaction was real!!

Great speech combined with great acting. A gem.
The Doctor's box speech is the best moment in Doctor Who history. The Doctor at peak Doctor using empathy and rationality to solve the problem and convince the enemy, not destroy them. Capaldi is magnificent.

The doctor's speech in this episode was the thing that made me decide to start watching doctor who back in 2015, it's still one of my favorite moments in the series and I'll always have a bit of a bias for this episode because of that
I'm glad Deepa enjoyed this. I, too, am curious to see what she thinks about the next episode. It's one I've grown to like over repeated viewings. As you said, Luke, you have to give them credit for trying something new.

I struggled with a lot of the Capaldi era. The first episode of this two-parter was decent but should have been better. However...
I love this episode! It's outstanding. Great writing, great performances, and probably great other stuff! And *that* speech, it's amazing.
