So although very handy and quite crafty, this isn't necessary in a survival situation. That rope could potentially be better utilized for something else. In a camping situation or for a video, sure amazing handiwork

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but it was an interesting method to learn if my handle breaks on my knife, as I use my knife for handling more fine work. Yes I can use it without the grip in a survival situation, but I would rather have a grip to make it more easily accessible to me for my ease. You don't have to make a situation worse for yourself if you're surviving and have some extra rope. It's also a good idea to ensure you have extra rope, just in case.

Pro tip. Make sure your fingers aren't under the rope when you light it. I lit a nylon rope and it almost immediately dripped onto my finger. It cooled super quick and I ended up ripping it off my skin. I have a big burn scar from then and it's always a reminder. So be careful lighting nylon. If it drops on your skin I can guarantee it's gonna leave a scar. That shit was like napalm.

It’s just a standing end strand of 550 Cord on the shoulder strap, with alternating turns of the working end looped around it and the strap. Tie it off with any knot you prefer and you’re good to go.
