For the first four years of ownership, the NX350h will be saving a household $1,500-2,000 in gasoline money. From the 5th year and beyond, with upkeep, will probably save $3,000-5,000 a year compared to the European competition.
For many middle-class households, this is probably the go to car, if someone doesn't like how the RAV4 Hybrid looks. Venza should be a good alternative to this too.
Sure, it won't drive as well because it's FWD-biased and the DIRECT4 is just shuffling torque between front and rear but this car should have ACA (brake-based torque vectoring).

Their interiors haven't been good in a long time. The current RX dash is ridiculous, the IS has always looked faux-sporty and cheap in a fake Rolex way. It's saying something that I prefer the ES over most of their other models. That said, I don't mind this, though agree it isn't especially luxurious. The way the infotainment screen surround curls out if the instrument panel is stupid and pointless. Just do like others and put in a sweep of screens. It's simple and it works. This will be awkward to upgrade, though a bigger IP screen would be easy. They should have already had one.

How much rear seat room do you actually need or use? This is quite adequate for carrying four adult men. So they can't cross their legs in back - who needs to do that? More room would be a total waste for me. 95% of the time there is nobody in back and when there is, this has plenty of space. People have become massively spoiled by the extreme growth of vehicles in recent years. Also by the performance increases. This is more than fast enough by any reasonable standard. As for styling, well, I'm not wild about it, but it's no more anonymous than a GLC or RDX. They all have the same basic shape. I'd personally opt for the more interesting GV70, but that's just my taste. I like the Volvo, too, but don't trust its quality. It's been updated exactly how you'd expect it to be. The hybrid battery has been improved, giving an improved powertrain. The safety tech is a generation advanced, as has the infotainment. Otherwise it's much as it was, which is no bad thing. It was a popular model for a reason.

I honestly can’t fathom how and why Lexus put out this mediocre product. They claim it’s a new chapter in luxury but in reality it’s a sign that Lexus could go downmarket and inevitably, go out of business soon (thanks to genesis). I mean Look at it.
The exterior isn’t attractive to the same level as genesis or Mazda or Volvo or bmw.
The interior is really subpar for the class to the point where even Infiniti suvs and Hyundai Kia’s or even mainstream Toyotas have nicer interiors. The last gen nx felt more premium for sure
The technology isn’t best in class since it has gimmicks and it doesn’t raise the bar.
Handling and Performance are really lackluster. Powertrains are really disappointing. I do like that there are 4 engines no arguing that. Unfortunately thats where the pros end and the cons really start to show:
200hp (absolute insult to Lexus). Noisy unrefined and also very expensive to begin with.
240hp hybrid. Mpg is great not arguing that, but unfortunately you can get the same mpg in the cheaper and more luxurious Toyota Venza or more practical Toyota RAV4 hybrid. Ouch… 😬
275hp turbo (lackluster turbo performance). The turbo falls behind every single turbo rival pricier or cheaper out there
300hp phev. The fastest nx. It’s as fast as a v6 Camry 😂. Don’t get me wrong. I have absolutely no problems with a Camry or or rav4 or now the corolla having 300hp as their range topping powertrain. Because the three are a lot cheaper. But for a Lexus at 60K? Is this a joke? You can get an is500 for that kind of money and get a glorious sounding 5.0L v8 with 472hp and a more bespoke premium platform.
Practicality falls behind the class. Poor legroom, poor cargo space no spare tire standard or even available as an accessory. Only run flats.
This is such a missed opportunity in just about every possible way. Even you apologists can’t justify this Lexus unless all you wear are Lexus blinders as motortrend said.
The nx was dead on arrival the nanosecond it was unveiled to the world. The whole argument of “reliability” or it outsells genesis” doesn’t mean squat in the luxury space. Luxury means perfection. Next level up. Specialness. Opulence. Bespoke. That combo just isn’t Lexus like they should be. If anything acura and genesis are taking those titles and setting the new gold standard for Asian luxury.
As far as reliability goes, why do you have to explicitly get a Lexus? What exactly is stopping you from getting a cheaper Toyota in its top end model with the same luxury but likely more space, a cheaper price tag, lower operating costs and same reliability? And the Lexus dealer experience? Sure it’s great. You kind of expect that. But you don’t have to get a Lexus to experience that. You’ll get the same Lexus care if you service your cheaper Toyota at the Lexus dealer. Will you pay more? Yes absolutely. But you pay to play.
This just shows how right I was for saying the nx is DOA. The fact that you all had the audacity to laugh, not take me seriously, shut me down, say “can this guy be banned?”, or call me a troll really shows your lack of knowledge on cars. I know cars and I judge cars by what they have to offer. And what Lexus currently offers is just honestly below par. Even many reviewers like motortend car and drive, Edmunds savagegeese have said the nx is not terribly competitive and it’s a missed opportunity in many ways and it’s a hard sell in most configurations. If you want cars with luxury to offer go genesis. Go Mazda. Go Acura. Go Hyundai or kia even. They offer the same if not better quality luxury for same or less
So bottom line is that the nx is honestly one of if not the worst luxury cuv in its class. The fact that this even sells well for the expectation of future reliability shows that sadly suckers are born every minute.
It hurts that I have to be this pessimistic even as a Toyota Camry owner, but unfortunately that’s just the hard truth and plain fact. Not bias or hate or me sputtering out random letters and forming new words
