I want to tell you both why you are my favourite auto journalists: you are both upbeat, positive, and smile a lot. You clearly enjoy each other’s company and are passionate about the work you do. So many of your competition are way too serious.
Good to see this comparison as I was doing the same thing last year. The NX wasn't out yet, and I had a feeling the price gap between well equipped models would be too much for me to justify. A local dealer had a Limited Venza on the lot so I ended up buying it (likely good timing since availability now is tough). I've had my Venza now for about 6 months and don't regret it one bit. Lifetime fuel economy so far is 6.5L/100kms which is lower than the subcompact car it replaced. Like many reviewers, I'd prefer knobs/dials for my infotainment/HVAC controls, but you do get used them fairly quick. Also, I'm more of a "set it and forget it' kind of user so I'm not adjusting things that often anyway. One thing I did notice is the steering with the stock tires felt somewhat "heavy". I replaced the stock tires with Michelin Cross Climate 2 All Weather tires and find they lighten up the steering to feel more "normal/neutral". I'd recommend either vehicle (since they are very similar) to anyone considering them. As Zach said, they are both reliable, no hassle vehicles to own, and either will still be worth something when you sell it.
I ordered a ‘22 Venza Limited in May and finally brought it home last week. So far it’s amazing, and people ask me a lot of questions about it. The funky sounds it makes when reversing and the electric motors always makes for an interesting drive! My dislike is the lack of buttons, especially the volume knob and radio station scan buttons. Also, there is no trash bin or storage areas for my passenger’s sunglasses. My Ford Edge had tons of compartments and a much easier-to-reach touch screen. However, I can get over 50 miles to the gallon easily in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the freeway headed for downtown Dallas, which is why I bought it. 🙂 The price for all you get can’t be beat!
My heart goes to the lexus with premium package it's very close to the venza's top trim but looks much better overall and with better hoursepower! Great review as usual thanks 👏
We’ve owned at least four RX350 Lexus vehicles, very silky drive practical , we now drive a hybrid Venza , it rides and drives just as well as a Lexus , Toyota makes both , the technology in the Venza is first class , and fit and finish ,and in some respects better than the Lexus ;the price difference is quite apparent, we still like Lexus brand ,but can’t quite bring ourselves to spend the $ difference,For us the Limited Venza is an extremely good handling, smooth ride , and full of technology.it’s driving characteristics are way better than smooth silky RX350 , No roll when cornering. This review makes a lot of interesting points, Lexus may well have improved the NX , but we feel the better deal for our money is the Venza . Just as an add on when the weather is warmer we’ve had 53mpg , when colder temps 45-48mpg , we don’t have a lead right foot .
Would agree. Drove an NX350, The Venza was a much better value. The NX350h feels just like a Venza Limited , but costs about $14k more. Venza has a spare and runs on Reg fuel. The Lexus extra 20hp is canceled because it weights almost 200lbs more than the Venza. The Venza was canceled more because of Lexus complaining than the new Crown Signia release. Went to see the Signia, its really an Avalon wagon. Different car. We bought one of the last Venza Limited's.
@@andreaspencer9813 Thank you!! This model was the only one on any lot in the Chicagoland area. I didn’t necessarily want to go fully-loaded, limited… but they said that since they had no idea when more models would be coming in the next couple months, they worked with me to make my lease payment less than $100(US) more than what I was paying for my 2019 RAV4 XLE Premium, which I feel like isn’t actually that bad at all for a near $15,000 different in MSRP. But Finance is definitely not where it’s at for me 🤣🙏🏻
Thanks Andrea for your video on the Venza. I got rid of my 2021 Rav 4 Hybrid for the 2021 Venza (Harrier) Limited. I love all the technology and all the stuff that the RAV 4 don't have. Unfortunately my limited version does not have the moon roof that I wanted but I can't rave enough on my Venza. It is so comfortable, smooth and a good looking car. I would love a RX350 but the price is ridiculous. There are couple of more improvements that I wished this Venza has. If you saw the China's verison of their Venza, it has nice hot front grill, with fog lights. That is what is missing of this current Venza.
Venza Limited for me, that's what I went with. A ton of tech and still great quality and comfort. There are definitely some interior finishing touches (door handles, some hard plastics) that are a little lacking where they cut costs compared to the Lexus, but overall was more value for the money for me. Next time I'll probably save a bit more and spring for the RX350h, skipping over the NX.
This was a really, really interesting comparison! These two particular CUV‘s always go to the top of my list when I start thinking about a future new car purchase. It would be a hard decision for me between these two! The advantage of the NX to me, as I haven’t been able to test drive one yet, is the shorter length to fit in my small garage. It is a little bit shorter than the Venza. But I have to say, to be able to get the Venza limited with the larger wheels, the fixed pano roof, which are my things that I would want, I would have to go all the way up to 50 grand at least to get that on the NX luxury package versus the Venza at around 43,000 and change with the tech package which gives you the heads up display and the fixed pano roof! Hard decisions to make. I’ve been driving my Lexus for almost 12 years now so I’ve been a Lexus loyal customer since 2006 with two different RX’s. It would be kind of difficult to go away from the brand for me🤷♀️
I would consider going the Lexus route for a few reasons. The paint quality and the colour options are far superior (in my opinion), the extra year of warranty and (quite often overlooked) quality and consistency of absolutely amazing dealer service (free service loaner alone!). And of course...the Badge. Thanks for another excellent comparison video. It was a close one!
I got news for ya. The Lexus NX is painted in the Cambridge plant. Where they also build the Rav 4. Same paint shop. A few things may be different. But I would use that as a decision point. 1 more thing... Price our an oil change for a Toyota Venza and then a Lexus. BIG difference. Same oil, same filter. But you pay $$ for the Lexus dealer to kiss your butt.
I was in fact aware. And your points are well taken. The RAV4, a great product itself, is a Toyota.... arguably ‘one’ of the very best automotive assemblers and manufacturers. Do you know who is ‘Number One’? Lexus. Its all in the details, my friend. Cheers.
Great comparison.....you comments are very useful and practical, especially regarding the regular vs premium fuel recommendations . Most magazines and reviewers fail to mention this important detail. Good job.
Wireless Apple Carplay is available in the Venza too (or any car with Apple Carplay) with a simple little device you can buy online. It works perfectly too! Both are great cars, but for exterior and value, I went with a Venza. Less of them on the road too.
Just test drove both of em. Saying Lexus is a lil bit more refined is a major understatement. There's a crazy day and light difference in luxury feel, between these two . Lexus reeks of classiness.
Well said, I test drove them both and found the exact same thing! To each their own, but the Lexus (for $3500 more) made much more sense for my tastes:)
@@mySaviorlives88 yea you maybe right. I didn’t tease drive the rav4. But I found significant enough differences between the venza and the Lexus though, which I can attest
I have both these cars. They’re very similar in refinement and quality. I feel like we got a better bargain with the Venza. Has a spare tire, little quieter, panoramic roof, Birds Eye view cameras, and is a bit more spacious, plus was $5k less. I drive the NX350h, wife has the Venza. The only thing I like more in the NX is it has a physical nob to turn down the stereo and the NX is a bit quicker. I’m gonna replace the run flat tires and get a tire kit for roadside emergencies
Thank you for the review and somehow made me to get Lexus NX350h instead of Venza. Plus just found out, the interest rate from Toyota is higher than Lexus.
How important is having a birds eye/surround view camera ? Is it like a power tail gate, that once having one, you wouldn’t have a car without it? On my Subaru with its great visibility, it doesn’t seem necessary. On these newer more aerodynamic cars it seems more useful. Great review. I’m leaning towards the Venza limited without glass roof. Now if I could only drive or rent one for a few days in this crazy car market…..
I have had my 2021 Venza Limited for 10 months. Great car. My favorite features are the incredible cameras. My previous car had park assist. Parked itself perfectly within inches of the curb anytime. I prefer the Venza setup. I can horizontal park much faster that my self park car. I also love something never mentioned in reviews. The HD 2 radio. I listen to Casey Kesum which is on 24/7 on HD2. HD2 contains many secret stations. I have had zero issues. I also drive in sport mode only. Makes it fun to drive.
As others have commented in other reviews, my Venza is getting 46 mpg in town driving. So far, am loving how comfortable it is. I use the steering wheel controls for volume, radio, etc. Voice commands work well for navigation.
I like the features of the Venza limited like heads up display and panoramic camera that the NX 350h premium in the US does not have unless you go luxury. HOWEVER the deal breaker for me is the soft material center console on the Venza. It is a stain machine. It should be a hard console so you can use it like most cars and the NX. The NX premium in the US has the 14 inch screen added as an option and Lexus IS delivering most of their premium trims with the 14 inch screen. I like the more premium look of the NX so I Choose the NX 350h. That center console with the little drawer and flat surface wins!
Right now, the Lexus build site has no option to add the 14 inch screen when you get the premium package. BUT Lexus has been adding the 14 inch screen as a $1100 or so option when you get the premium package in the US
The center console is covered in softex. It's far more durable than leather and doesn't scratch like plastic. Wipes clean and doesn't show wear. I'll never buy leather again and plastic is cheap looking.
This comparison is excellent! Well done Andrea and Zach. I've narrowed my choices to these 2 vehicles because of the fuel economy, size, reliability and styling. I think a fully loaded Venza is very comparable to a base NX and all the exterior, interior and driving features reviewed are spot on. It doesn't make the decision any easier but this video points out all the subtle differences between the two.
Its so great comparison I really like you both, it helps a lot I'm looking for a new car to buy and I'm thinking about the nx 350 hybrid so now I guess I'll go try to test drive the Toyota venza hybrid if available.
The two best reviewers on youtube....or any other place! BTw...give me the built in screen instead of the iPad leaning on the dash look :) that is on the Venza, though I do love the Venza too!
Picking the NX for sure. New infotainment and really if the run flat is the only issue, just need to replace with normal tires and a kit in case of any flats. I test drove the 450h+ and the 350 and didn't find the run flats were that noisy. My current NX300 felt noisier with regular 18 inch tires.
I have done exactly the same thing with my RX. The difference couldn't be more extreme. My advice is immediately exchange out of the run flat tires. Put in a simple kit and a little electric pump if you want. Run flat tires change the whole feel and driving dynamics of the vehicle, especially the ride quality.
Excellent report, much appreciated! I recently got a 2022 Lexus ES300h with lovely looking 18 inch wheels (17 inch are standard) and 235/45 R18 Performance tires. I've been reading in Consumer Reports, and surmise that there are three kinds of tires commonly sold: All Season Radials, Performance Radials, and Ultra-Performance Radials. The Ultra ones have more road noise and wear out fast, but give the best handling I'm told. They ride more rough too. The performance radials on my car are very quiet indeed but that might be the way the car is built. Wow, it is SO quiet on the highway! Handling is superb. In comparison, the Tesla Model 3 with 18 inch wheels rides more rough and has more road noise; remember, the electric motors are extremely quiet. All season radials, I understand, are the Chevy of tires. In future I'll look for performance radials and surely avoid the ultra-high performance ones. Those look like fat pancakes too! :) I looked inside a 2022 NX but the cabin seemed kind of cramped so I walked away---to the ES300h, and fell in love. I noted that your NX had a small screen; my strong suggestion is: do NOT settle for anything less than a 10 inch screen; 12 inch is best. Even the graphic quality of the 8 inch available on the ES series is just not as sharp and colorful as the new 12 inch screen. The wide screen is not just luxury; you can have a mini screen on the right that gives you various kinds of info like what music is playing, your current MPG and range, hybrid performance, etc. What I DON'T like about the Venza is that the screen looks like someone stuck on a Galaxy Tablet as an afterthought, whereas with the new NX the screen is beautifully blended into the dash. Same goes for the current Avalon, may it rest in peace after this fall!!!
Man I have another channel that I like and that is yours. I love your channel the presentation is superb. The other channel so far I love is “Car Help Corner” and “ Auto Buyers Guide | Alex on Autos” Yours is standing out now. Now regarding the car:- You did a great job. I subscribed too. I had a 2021 Rav 4 XLE premium that I traded for a crown XLE 5 months ago and i traded that for a Venza limited 2022 used SUV. I love the ride of a crown and the infotainment system but overall i bought this for the getting in and out easier and Hybrid and smaller to park than a crown as we are older couple. I am booking a RAV4 prime plug in and till then hopefully I will use this used 2022 Venza Limited. A lot more I like in this than my XLE crown.
I just purchased the nx350h, really like, have luxury package so I could have leather seats and large touchscreen. Fuel mileage less than expected but still very good.
@@raf_xvii no, I wanted real leather seats, not synthetic leather, very disappointed lexus uses this material in their cars. You are buying a Lexus for luxury and quality, you should automatically get leather seats.
I test drive both, I chose the 21 Venza xle with upgraded softex and upgraded jbl with the 22in screen. Love the technology in this car! Amazing. Much comfort and less expensive.
I wanted to inform anyone considering a new Venza that I currently have a 2021 Toyota Venza XLE and the position of the rear signal lights are on the bottom bumper which is an extremely dangerous location when travelling on our northern Ontario hwys. I clear off my vehicle from snow before use and the amount of snow that collects on the back of the vehicle and covers the signal lights is seriously concerning for you and the traffic behind you. Also, the interior infotainment set-up on the Venza is annoying when having to look for the buttons you need when wanting just the Home screen, Audio screen, or temperature options to show. The temperature setting options are especially annoying to find and change. I have a 2022 Lexus NX 350h Executive package on order and I'm looking forward to this vehicle and all the great options, especially the ease of use the infotainment set-up. Thanks to Motormouth for these awesome videos. You guys do a great job.
The NX 350h premium package just had more high end amenities than Venza like the infotainment screen and its wireless apple car play, heated folding mirrors that also point down when backing up, lighted door handles at night, better nuluxe seats, better designed middle console with little storage cubby, etc.
Love your review ! Especially u guys mentioned about the Asia version Lexus Harrier, Venza Start button, both options package details. Unfortunately they both have high mark up or dealership add on here
Thank you for this great comparison. We did the exact cross shopping (last gen NX) and went with the Venza Limited. So far we love the Venza and the great gas mileage. There are a couple things we have had problems with. The buttons for Driver 1 and 2 don't seem to be working at all (yes I have read the manual, watched videos and gone back to the sales person...next is to get checked at servicing). The set up for the driver seat/steering wheel to move when entering or exiting the vehicle also don't seem to be working. More concerning is the occasional creaks/squeaks we have heard when going over bumps/rough roads. All things we will get checked at the first servicing.
That's so interesting that you say that because I can't get my memory seats to lock either. I have also done the same with watching youtube videos and reading manual. I will definitely be taking it in soon to see what's going on.
I don't have any problem with the memory seat. Press the number and the set button at the same time, or press the set 1st and the number. A beep tells you it's successfully set.
@@rongliang1061 I did that many times but nothing. I took it for it's first service and they brought a tech service to look at it. He did a lot of moving the seat the full range for each type of movement, several times, pushes a series of buttons and after a while, he got it reset. It seems to be working now...fingers crossed.
@@naveenthemachine That is correct. Took it in for servicing and as I mentioned below, the service tech guy did a bunch of things and was able to reset it and the seat setting to work properly.
The whole idea for the price comparison was answered very easily...... The Lexus has a lot more options but you pay more and paying for premium gas is a huge negative compared to the Toyota..... It's the equivalent of losing another 5 mph gallon.... Thanks for pointing this out in the review made the decision easier venza limited it is
I appreciate your comments about the tire/wheel size in relation to the noise. We were considering the NX with plug in option for our winter car in Florida . Being Canadian we won’t likely be able to take advantage of the tax credit.
Before I got into a vehicle to try them out, i was leaning towards the lexus. But I went to a lexus dealership and got into a nx350 and it felt so cramped in the driver seat. I bumped my head getting into and out of the car. I am really hoping I don't have the same experience in the venza as I really wanted to get a nice reliable small comfortable suv.
I drove the 2022 NX 350 and 2022 Venza today. I went to the Lexus dealership planning to order the NX. After test driving both vehicles, the Venza is the clear choice for me. The Venza felt more insulated than the NX. That was very shocking to me. Lots of wind and road noise in the NX even at low speeds. The Venza is also more spacious and comfortable. I’m in the US and priced both vehicles at the dealerships with comparable options. The NX was $10,000 more. A Lexus badge and a 4th year of warranty is not worth 10k to me. I can purchase an extended warranty for much less. The dealership told me it will take 2-3 months to get the Venza limited.
I so value and appreciate your reviews. I'm with you on the exterior of the Venza looking better. The NX is so totally and completely blech!🤮 Put the NX interior in the Venza and you have a stunning vehicle! I love the panoramic fixed sunroof with the frost option. This allows light without the bugs and noise. C'mon Lexus! Catch up with your mother brand! This is a great feature and I'm surprised it isn't included in your luxury line. As for the Lexus, of course you'll get a more refined vehicle. It's a Lexus after all. However, I would skip the NX and get the RX (back to body design). As far as saying to people, "I drive a Lexus over Toyota". I have a Lexus now and thinking I'll get the 2024 RX. Recently a friend said, "why do you want to spend so much on a car when you work from home and your market is 2-miles away?!". Good point! It's totally an ego thing.🤯 Ego says Lexus. Rational and responsible me says Toyota. However, as any Lexus owner will tell you, the real value isn't seen when you buy a Lexus, it's 10 years later when it's still running strong! 💪💪💪
Many thanks for the review. It is indeed a difficult choice, but you cannot go wrong with either vehicle! [Lack of a spare tire and noisy expensive run flat tires are the particular issues for me re the Lexus as well as the lack of front and rear parking sensors on our Canadian version. It would also be easier if the NX did not look about 90% the same as the previous 2015/2021 model of which there are so many about.]
@Motormouth it may be easier & allow you to cutout some portions of the video if you were to display your social media handles on the screen when you introduce yourselves. Just so we can get to the details quicker.

Thank you for such good reviews! I m in the market for a new SUV, leaning more toward Lexus NX 350h. However, there is no stock 😬. Tough decision to make 🤔
I paid my deposit back in August 2021. Order was locked in October 2021 with anticipated delivery in February 2022. I am now delayed until June 2022. So I am still waiting...
@@bsloverboy I saw one the other day at Costco parking lot, it was beautiful! I called the Lexus salesman and inquired about the availability, he said I need to be on a waiting list plus a $7500 mark up 😩
*strange how you can't find any 2022 Toyota Venza LE models for sale but tons of Venza XLE models for sale here in Ontario , the features are more then enough in the LE vs. XLE , no point in over paying for XLE*
Does really 2022 NX hybrid recommended premium? Or in Canada Lexus recommend, here in US required? Older one, non hybrid, is required. If it’s recommended, that’s mean you can safely use regular gas. I’m personally can’t notice the difference in performance with regular vs premium gas. Maybe little bit in old old carburetor cars.
There is no difference, I've researched this forever. If it were true you would get better performance in the Rav 4 Hybrid by putting premium in it. Bore, stroke and compression is the exact same in a Rav 4 Hybrid and NX350H, only difference is the front electric motor on the NX has 40 more kws, giving it 20 more Hp.
You guys forget to compare the stereo system in each model. To me, a good stereo system is one of the deciding factors. I know it is odd, but that is what I like.
I will take my 2021 TOYOTA VENZA xle all options except for the frosted moon roof. I feel it is more comfortable and the price point is much better. I have ordered the 2023 Toyota VENZA Limited and look forward to keeping it for years to come. The NX 350H just doesn’t add up.
We just got a 2024 Venza limited. Chose it over a RX350 Premium. The Venza had features the Lexus didn't unless you went to the premium plus and the doors on the Lexus you had to slam to get to close all the way. Also the push to exit would never work for us. Even though the Lexus dealer came down a few thousand they were $2000 less on the trade it so it was $10,000 more and we didn't like it as much.
Our local Hertz had Venza available so we rented it for 2 days. Really good mpg. However it gets really loud after 75-70 mph. You don’t need even look at the dashboard. Once you start to hear wind outside - you know you are at 65. It’s really sad that it starts to sound like a plane. I wonder if Toyota could do anything about this tremendous wind howl. But in the city it’s so good with the battery power below 20 mph and all the red light stops.
It's all in the details. Lexus uses thicker sound deadening glass in their vehicles. Check it out. There are many other things that are not readily apparent that do drive up the price, but that also contribute to the quality and longevity of the vehicle. No doubt there is some premium built in because it is a Lexus, but Toyota generally gives you pretty close to what you pay for. Lexus included.
Lots of information! Both are good. I like Venza’s exterior design and I like NX’s interior design. I wish they put interior and exterior together. 😆 city gas mileage is awesome at 41 mile per gallon! Great video Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great video. For the Venza, at what speed while driving on EV does the gasoline engine come on? Also what is the average 0 to 60 in both vehicles? Thank you.
It doesn’t seem like you factor in real world variables to your rankings…such as reliability and maintenance costs. I’ve owned a GLC, X3, and now a NX. I can tell you that while the NX lacks some of the “flash” as the others, you aren’t beating the Lexus reliability and cost to own over a 10 year period.
@@naveenthemachine I don’t actually disagree with your take. To me there’s still a different feel to a Lexus over a Toyota in overall build quality and materials. But you’re right, I can fully load a Toyota equivalent and come in under the Lexus price.
Why would the options or trim levels be more expensive in the US? I guess I don't understand currency issues. The US ollar I thought was worth more in the global market than the Canadian dollar. Could you explain this?
Just don't expect the agility of a Genesis GV70 or Alfa Romeo Stelvio. On our figure-eight course-a MotorTrend test that evaluates acceleration, braking, handling, and the transitions in between-the NX450h+'s performance doesn't reflect the way it feels in the real world. The plug-in finished the test in 28.4 seconds at 0.57 g (average), well behind the quicker Volvo's 26.3 seconds at 0.69 g but also behind the RAV4 Prime (27.0 seconds at 0.65 g) and the NX350h. That NX hybrid variant is nearly 400 pounds lighter than the NX450h+ and finishes the figure-eight course quicker, at 28.0 seconds at 0.59 g.
Still don't know why people say to put premium in the NX350H . It is the exact same engine as the Rav 4 hybrid. Only difference in power train is the NX350H has 40 more kwh in the front electric motor., giving 20 more net hp. You can open up the owners manual in both the bore, stroke and compression are identical. By logic it would mean putting premium in a Rav 4 hybrid would give you better performance.
At this point in time that I'm making this comment, I would say the Venza is ready for a redesign. And when that happens I would say the Venza is probably the big winner
Although NX has a swifter infotainment system (with the beloved volume knob), a Lexus emblem and better customer service; I actually prefer the Venza even though its infotainment system and HVAC don't have physical buttons in top trim Limited model. The use of Regular gas actually makes its running cost even more appealing. I still not fond of NX's gimmicky electronic door handles and gear lever. Venza is more of a form-follows-function designs.
The Lexus interior is nice but I just don't like the glossy black around the screen area of the dash. It just doesn't look upmarket and really stands out from the matte look of the rest of the interior. The Venza overall looks nice and the exterior is almost too Lexus like. The interior is more Toyota though but I like the lower glossy black plastic look. Overall, the Venza may have the better visibility and usability and depending on how close they drive, if the Lexus doesn't offer measurable quietness and smoothness, then the Venza seems the more sensible choice.
Seems like the base Venza is the clear value leader, you get a better rear passenger experience plus the 18 in regular tires are the much better choice. Run Flats are just shitty bricks. Cross shop the base HH as well. More space.
The Nx is made in Canada while the Venza is made in Japan. Japan build is much more precise than Canada (no offense) the seams etc just are better fit (Japan factory is their premier factory. For what it’s worth! The Venza has had some problems with windshields cracking and pitting. Don’t kno if fixed that?
In our testing, we beat the Lexus-estimated acceleration to 60 mph by a full half-second, hitting 60 in 5.5 seconds versus the quoted 6.0-second time. That's quicker than the other 2022 NX models we've tested, but a 2021 XC60 Recharge reaches 60 in a MotorTrend-tested 5.0 seconds. We haven't yet tested a Q5 plug-in, but Audi estimates its model to be just as quick as the Volvo. In case you wonder, the lighter-weight RAV4 Prime matches the NX450h+'s 5.5-second time to 60. This means the NX plug-in hybrid is both the quickest NX money can buy and the slowest SUV in its tiny segment.
Ha, you are comparing Lexus/Toyota's on acceleration. Why? You can always go with BMW if acceleration is your top criteria. Of course, as long as you get rid of your BMW in 3 years (and have the next sucker pay the hefty maintenance bills). As per Audi Q5, same problem. They are not money pits like BMWs, but not cheap either, especially when old. Also, when we tested a Q5 - the cargo space was even smaller. How do people shove a stroller and a couple of bags in them? With the extra cost and not much in return, it simply was not a practical option. The car we enjoyed the most was Macan -- it checked all the boxes (besides having an even smaller luggage space). But the price was simply beyond the budget that missus would allow.
@@Vishal-uj8fn the NX has competed with Buick Encore in size, it is sub-compact. The Q5 is recommended by Consumer Reports is much bigger. Plus Q5 has offered a PHEV for years now.
@@GoBudsGo More performance what, which car are u comparing with? NX 350 has 275 HP compare to the 240 HP of the NX 350h? If you compare it to the Venza, that’s 10k different only for 20 Hp, Is it worth?.😐
it's not required. You can use anything over 87 but might lose a half second on 0 to 60mph 😆 which should make no difference if you are buying a hybrid
Same engine but Lexus needs premium fuel? That doesn’t make sense. The Lexus must also have a different ecu or something. Premium fuel alone doesn’t improve performance or fuel economy. Using premium in the Venza would not improve either, why in the Lexus?
The NX has the more powerful Lexus RX electric motor which is why the horsepower is 240. The Venza Is 219. Thst extra power makes the NX smoother and quieter
Right. The electric motor is from the RX, giving it the hp bump. The gasoline engine is the same so why would one “recommend” premium? Premium on its own does nothing, the engine/ecu has to be designed for premium but they say the engine is the same in both with only the electric motor being different.
We need the ground clearance on our Subaru as we get 5-6 feet of snow every winter and we live on a private road in which we have to plow and maintain ourselves.
I want to tell you both why you are my favourite auto journalists: you are both upbeat, positive, and smile a lot. You clearly enjoy each other’s company and are passionate about the work you do. So many of your competition are way too serious.
Awe thank you so much, that really means a lot to us, we appreciate the support.
I prefer the base LE model as the volume and temperature controls still have physical dials, it's cheaper, and it has cloth seats
My heart goes to the lexus with premium package it's very close to the venza's top trim but looks much better overall and with better hoursepower! Great review as usual thanks 👏
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it!
I think the Venza is the better looking car. Lexus has the nicer interior.
Don't agree. Drove both.
Absolutely in love with my Limited 2021 Venza. Had it for about a month now. The red paint is STUNNING
Congratulations, it's so good to hear you are enjoying it!
The red color is beautiful!
But Finance is definitely not where it’s at for me 🤣🙏🏻
@@CodeXana Wow, that's not much of a difference for a lease payment, very good.
@@andreaspencer9813 Stop omg, thank you! You and your husband have been my absolute favorite here for awhile now! ❤️
Prefer the Jaguar-esque styling of the Venza.... it's a budget Lexus
With more reliability
@@seanjamesmacleod241 Reliability should be comparable... Toyota and Lexus share engines and powertrains.
It would be kind of difficult to go away from the brand for me🤷♀️
lexus is one of the best luxury car brands, you get the luxury and you get the realiability.
Reading other comments, it appears I am in the minority (alone at this point). But that alone! .. is a bonus! Scarcity.
Lexus badge isn't all that desirable for me personally. Some aspects of Lexus reputation speak to me and others really don't
I can respect that. Cheers!
Good job.
Wonderful pair and style of info delivery is just perfect no fluff and time wasting. Thnx for that , I’ve followed zak for 29 years
Wireless Apple Carplay is available in the Venza too (or any car with Apple Carplay) with a simple little device you can buy online. It works perfectly too! Both are great cars, but for exterior and value, I went with a Venza. Less of them on the road too.
This is a my favorite auto channel. Andrea has fabulous style. Werk Mama!
But if you drive the other platform mate aka the RAV4, you would realize the Venza and NX are much closer to each other than the Venza is to the RAV4.
Great comparison - I'm going to pick up same Nx350h in the review this Fri! It looks great and saves gas!
What a great video!! I actually have the 2021 Venza in this exact Coastal Gray color and I love it!!!
You guys are the best! This is a hard choice! I want to buy both but you guys make it so easy, thank you both for all that you do! 😊
I own the 2021 Venza xle …love it …really enjoyed this video on the comparison between the two. Thanks guys
Thank you for the review and somehow made me to get Lexus NX350h instead of Venza. Plus just found out, the interest rate from Toyota is higher than Lexus.
Great information to know!
You would get a much better interest rate going to a credit union than with the dealer or with the car manufacturer sometimes.
Sure would be nice to be able to rent one to drive it around for a couple of days
Excellent, glad you are enjoying your Venza!
🇺🇸 perfect..I was looking at these 2 for my spouse! Nice job. Thanks guys. Tough decision.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Love the Jaguar styling of the Venza
I like the features of the Venza limited like heads up display and panoramic camera that the NX 350h premium in the US does not have unless you go luxury. HOWEVER the deal breaker for me is the soft material center console on the Venza. It is a stain machine. It should be a hard console so you can use it like most cars and the NX. The NX premium in the US has the 14 inch screen added as an option and Lexus IS delivering most of their premium trims with the 14 inch screen. I like the more premium look of the NX so I Choose the NX 350h. That center console with the little drawer and flat surface wins!
so the premium comes with a 14inch screen? or we have to add it separetly?
Something worth noting is that run flat tires are pretty expensive to replace I believe.
A lot of places won't even patch them. You get a flat, the tire needs to be replaced.
no they aren't. Plenty of options available
I looked inside a 2022 NX but the cabin seemed kind of cramped so I walked away---to the ES300h, and fell in love.
The other channel so far I love is “Car Help Corner” and “ Auto Buyers Guide | Alex on Autos”
Yours is standing out now.
Did you consider the Premium package?
@@raf_xvii no, I wanted real leather seats, not synthetic leather, very disappointed lexus uses this material in their cars. You are buying a Lexus for luxury and quality, you should automatically get leather seats.
I had the 21 Venza Premium. I now have the 23 Lexus NX350h. I’m much happier. The Venza is generic luxury. Lexus is the real thing.
I test drive both, I chose the 21 Venza xle with upgraded softex and upgraded jbl with the 22in screen. Love the technology in this car! Amazing. Much comfort and less expensive.
Smart
@@naveenthemachine I have the 12.3 screen with touch sensitive controls.
What is the ETA on your Lexus’ arrival?
@@vlau0706 My SA checked last week and said the end of May. I ordered it February 12th.
The NX 350h premium package just had more high end amenities than Venza like the infotainment screen and its wireless apple car play, heated folding mirrors that also point down when backing up, lighted door handles at night, better nuluxe seats, better designed middle console with little storage cubby, etc.
It’s interesting how the trim levels and pricing structures vary so much between Canadian and US markets.
Love your review ! Especially u guys mentioned about the Asia version Lexus Harrier, Venza Start button, both options package details. Unfortunately they both have high mark up or dealership add on here
HIgh mark ups everywhere. The law of supply and demand. Be patient and wait for this too shall pass.
I believe the Venza is built in Japan, so I trust the build quality more than any Toyota's built in the US.
Excellent review as I'm torn between those exact two vehicles. Still not sure, but am more educated about it.
@@sanriogirl6 I had to get a tech service person to work on it. Take yours in and hopefully the person will be able to get it going properly.
I considered the Venza Limited but the wait is 12+month compared to 6 months for the Lexus. So Lexus it is.
Wow, that’s interesting!
NX 350h for me. Material is more high end, super infotainment, more power, longer warranty, lexus badge, more refined driving dynamic
No, unfortunately not, the price is too high to qualify for the EV rebates in Canada. - Andrea

In 2023 the difference between premium and regular gas is now $.80 per gallon. It was $.30-..50 a few years ago. That is a huge consideration.
Awesome video
Does really 2022 NX hybrid recommended premium? Or in Canada Lexus recommend, here in US required? Older one, non hybrid, is required. If it’s recommended, that’s mean you can safely use regular gas. I’m personally can’t notice the difference in performance with regular vs premium gas. Maybe little bit in old old carburetor cars.
There is no difference, I've researched this forever. If it were true you would get better performance in the Rav 4 Hybrid by putting premium in it.
Bore, stroke and compression is the exact same in a Rav 4 Hybrid and NX350H, only difference is the front electric motor on the NX has 40 more kws, giving it 20 more Hp.
both are the best !
You are right, can't go wrong with either.
Hi Guys
Thanks for sharing this great review.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much, really glad you enjoyed it! I am sure these will be cross-shopped quite a bit.
@@andreaspencer9813 I think so too. Good show Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
The paint selection is better with NX, the seats have better materials too
As a future buyer need to know How many gallons each vehicle holds and the distance it goes
Why are the US prices higher than the Canadian?
Great video. For the Venza, at what speed while driving on EV does the gasoline engine come on? Also what is the average 0 to 60 in both vehicles? Thank you.
When you pass the 20 mph, I would say is more for parking lots or quiet residential streets
I think the venza should have been a lot bigger than the rav4, isn’t it around the same size? But longer wheel base? I just don’t get that
Why would the options or trim levels be more expensive in the US? I guess I don't understand currency issues. The US ollar I thought was worth more in the global market than the Canadian dollar. Could you explain this?
It looks to me this was shot in Vancouver BC, so why all the Ontario plates?
Unless you’re stuck on names the Venza is the better value. My wife got the NX.
Good review
i rather would go again with a young used RX450H just because of its V6Hybrid
At this point in time that I'm making this comment, I would say the Venza is ready for a redesign. And when that happens I would say the Venza is probably the big winner
What car are you sitting right now with that panoramic sunroof?
Although NX has a swifter infotainment system (with the beloved volume knob), a Lexus emblem and better customer service; I actually prefer the Venza even though its infotainment system and HVAC don't have physical buttons in top trim Limited model. The use of Regular gas actually makes its running cost even more appealing. I still not fond of NX's gimmicky electronic door handles and gear lever. Venza is more of a form-follows-function designs.
You can use 87 octane in NX
@@william6765 Premium recommended not required?
@@william6765 that's why the lexus wins in my opinion with all this good quality, performance and design!
Is this NX350h more quiter and smoother than the ES300h?
Imagine buying a hybrid to save on gas but “Premium fuel required”😀
@@GoBudsGo More performance what, which car are u comparing with? NX 350 has 275 HP compare to the 240 HP of the NX 350h? If you compare it to the Venza, that’s 10k different only for 20 Hp, Is it worth?.😐
it's not required. You can use anything over 87 but might lose a half second on 0 to 60mph 😆 which should make no difference if you are buying a hybrid
You should compare to venza with Lexus rx series..these are same segments
Wireless Carplay is a must. NX, easily.
Can I use regular gas on NX
If both use the same 2.5 liter engine, why the Lexus need premium fuel?
Hi, for NX350H is Premium Gas recommended or required? Would a regular 87 octane void warranty? Thanks
87 is fine. Same engine as a Rav 4. You won't notice the difference from 87 to 91
Same engine but Lexus needs premium fuel? That doesn’t make sense. The Lexus must also have a different ecu or something. Premium fuel alone doesn’t improve performance or fuel economy. Using premium in the Venza would not improve either, why in the Lexus?
Premium fuel is suggested therefore not required.
The NX has the more powerful Lexus RX electric motor which is why the horsepower is 240. The Venza Is 219. Thst extra power makes the NX smoother and quieter
NX has 240hp while Venza has 219hp. Makes up the power difference here.
Venza!!!!!!
My wife is getting the loaded NX 350h as soon as it lands. The fixed roof on the Venza is a fail.
what do you mean?
if you put regular gas does it void your warranty?
No
No color on the Venza can match the atomic silver and the dark red interior like you just tested on the NX350h. Give me that atomic silver nx!!!
I really like the colour combo too!
That silver is truly gorgeous
