If "your"games only consist of games from EA, Activision and such, then maybe. Otherwise no, more than enough good, honest games out there and still coming out ;) .
Who's playing in 2020 and watching this review? Bought it ages ago and I'm just now gunna play it. And love the part where he says microtransactions better not become a problem. Well you called it. Major f*@#!n problem!
Same, I got for pc and controls were bad, they better now, and I finally forced myself to beat the game. Its a 7/10 for me, really average and they should of deleted the hinterlands honestly lol.
This game is just amazing (except the multiplayer that is trash), I really liked the interaction with the characters and the romance scenes Lol. And finally a game where your choices make a DIFFERENCE!
+VinAr Run Yea games are so huge nowadays, I mean I kinda like it and wanted that for a long time, but now it's just too many good games to play them all ahah ^^
and i thought that by getting a ps4 when i buy a game i would beat it and complete it to be able to buy a new one would help. nope, gotten an even bigger library of unfinished games now. lol
+Damion Lawson If you invest the time and effort to learn some of the lore and story the ending, the finish, is a great twist that I don't dare spoil here...needless to say it's an excellent lead in to the Trespasser DLC and sure fire sequel.
*Just wanted to say: If you get this game, do yourself a favor and get the important, canon, Trespasser DLC. It's freakin' amazing, and it sets up Dragon Age 4. That's all.*
Man Kev Yep! Same with Mass Effect 3's Leviathan and From the Ashes DLCs. I couldn't imagine going without those. Very important DLCs in terms of adding to the story.
Yeah, bit of a double edged sword. You want the single player DLC to matter, but you probably don't want to buy it along with your $60 game to get the full experience. If a version has or will come out with it already installed, I suggest waiting to buy that since Tresspasser is pretty important.
+WhoAteMyFunDip So they stuck us with a Chick who, right after sex, talks about how her ex was murdered, but we can't get the sharp tongued, quick-witted Harding as a love interest? I call BS
I recently started a new campaign (my third) with a dwarf 2handed haha, I already played as a human rogue dual wield and a elf rift mage, 210 hours of gameplay. I'm thinking to play as a archer next, but I don`t know yet if I will play again xD Also never played multiplayer lol
I like how Fable 2 and other games did multiplayer. DA: I couldve had something similar. A friend joins your session and you choose them from the tarot card screen. They act like any other companion and so on. Pretty basic but I would have appreciated it.
Yep same. Over 300 hours in and I still never touched multiplayer. The only multiplayer I’ve ever played in an RPG game was ME3 and that’s because I believed that it was still 5000 ems to get the perfect ending instead of 3000.
@@MiraSubieGirl What made it better? I liked this one but its kinda to me a matter of.... they're both equally good but inquisition was a PLUS .0001 better.
Jorge Polanco If you can get it for really cheap(which shouldnt be a problem now) I'd play it, the game still has some awesome moments and has a really good cast of characters.
Right??? I was thinking "Awright, eight dollar game, let's see how this little guy does." And BOY DID I GET BLOWN AWAY BY THIS GAME. Guess that's what happens when you expect 100% for a game to be dirt poor.
Even after 3 years, it looks and plays A LOT better imo than most of the games that have come out last couple of years. Definitely earned the GOTY back then. And still feels like a lot of fun, been playing it the last couple of days with better GPU than back then.
Yup, I love getting hundreds of hours of gameplay for less than $10. I bought the Witcher III for $9.99 on Black Friday, and have been playing since, maybe 75% of the way through? Then comes 30 hours of DLC? I take the kids to the movies, $15 per ticket, $40 for shitty food....$100 and 2 hours later, I feel raped. I’m gonna grab this also. Kingdom Come Deliverance is also $15 now at Gamestop. They have a good lost of stuff on sale through Xmas. Making a list of cheap ass games with high ratings. Who needs to spend $100 on a brand new game, when you can get 7 or 8 of them and play for months?
@@Koragh_ Same. I swear my old and forgotten YT accounts probably left comments in most of Angry Joe's early videos. He was the first TH-cam I was following, long before "follow" is a social media term... or before social media became a thing.
My dad mostly uses iron bull as a party member because of his dialogue. When he and vivienne were in the same party, my dad and I couldn't breathe by the end of one mission. XD
@@MsUltraBob Everyone who's told me video games are a waste of my time are now all either dead or in prison. Clearly I'm making better life decisions than them, lmao.
Would you like to pay thirty dollars for two likes? Would you like to pay forty five dollars for 5 likes? Would you like to pay sixty dollars for 10 likes?
Razvan Musat I personally prefer gameplay with a party of 4 instead of being a one man freak show. Story wise, I would agree that the witcher 3 story was more satisfying and well-written...the Bioware plot bunny where you play as Jesus/Last Hope/Savior/Chosen One/Best Chance for Humanity was wearing a bit thin.
Sure Dragon Age Inquisition has a bunch of cool stuff in it but I wish I didn't have to grind through repetitive nothingness before something cool finally happens.
I played two hours hated it deleted it vowed to never touch combat is soo repitive all u do is r2 sword slashes and your three special moves become soo repitive gameplay is bad graphic is even worser and god knows what the story is apart from closing same fucking rifts everywhere and fuck bears their impossible to kill
It's a good game is it better than the Witcher 3 no I don't even think Skyrim is better than the Witcher 3 I don't think any RPG right now could compete witch the Witcher 3 but DAI and skyrim are still great games I enjoyed them
Actually you don´t. It´s like one rift or something. Hinterlands is the most boring of all locations in the game and if you spend there 10+ hours just to complete the map, you will ruin the game for yourself
I remember when Joe was actually angry. This was a good review. *edit: adage* This was also the foreshadowing of the microtransaction hell we have now. This was literally EA's first major push for it.
It was by far the worst Dragon age, I dropped that shit before finishing. Witcher 3 is good so far but it suffers the same making a massive world with everything fun spread to far away. Its not as good as the second one to me.
I played a little of one, but my computer wasn't powerful enough and lagged so quit. Never played 2. 3 I'm going to go into pretty much knowing nothing much about the game.
Are you referring to Rpgs? like Deus ex mankind divided and Tom clancy's the Division ,which were mediocre? Because Dark souls 3,Final Fantasy XV,Skyrim remastered edition and Xcom2 came out in 2016. if youre referring to gaming in General than yeah,2016 fucking blew... Keeping my fingers crossed for Mass effect Andromeda, For Honor,Horizon Zero Dawn,Battlefront 2,Red Dead redemption 2,Tom Clancy's Wildlands..ect Of course, I buy after I read threw multiple reviews.. Mass effect Might be the only exception...
The quiet scene after Haven where it's just you trudging through the snow is just... such a haunting experience. Just ambient sound and you really feel how tired, cold, and alone your character is. It's just an amazingly done scene that really stuck with me. What did you think of it, AJ?
DiddntFindANameLol AngryJoe is one of the most popular game reviewers on the most popular video sharing site. He's going to get the dumbest of the dumb.
Just think of this... Solas: I present you Skyhold. Inquisitor: Gasp! (Speechless) Solas:( I know this bitch will love my castle. Enjoy it while you can before I wait plotting my Elven Glory!)
one of the reasons why this game hits you in the feels, cuz it has a beautiful soundtrack that is flowed almost seamlessly with both small and big decisions in the game. and hknetly, I get goosebumps from that scene as well.
it's the year 2022 and I always say that when it comes to game reviewing that angry Joe is the best when it comes to reviewing new releases on TH-cam.. there are times where I rewatch some of his reviews especially the dragon age 2 was so funny
Joe has seriously the best reviews on the internet. They are entertaining, actually funny, and really really on point with the information. You really are incredible at what you do Joe. You are one of the few TH-cam channels that i ACTUALLY TURN ADBLOCK off for because I feel you deserve the success you have. You are amazing, keep up the good work. Oh and I would be so freaking honored if you would respond to just this ONE message because its my Anniversary and well, I deserve a message damnit!! Thumbs this up so he sees (oh gahd, I just became one of THOSE people hahahahaha) ;-).
Remember 10 years ago in 2005 when somebody made a mod for San Andreas that let you have fully clothed sex? Remember how everyone freaked out and the ESRB, changed the rating of the game from Mature (M) to Adults Only (AO), and it was actually banned in Austrailia? Because it had fully clothed sexual intercourse?.... ...Man things have changed...
It really is sickening how many homophobic gamers there are. People are complaining about the gay/lesbian OPTION in the game (key word is option). Not only do you not have to do anything with it if you so wish, but ridiculing it is just pathetic. The world would be a better place if people were just more accepting, rather than complaining about a persons sexuality. This is why people are increasingly going against religion. Because for many religion is the reason they hold so much prejudice against gays/lesbians. EDIT: Seems a lot of people were somehow unaware of this, but there are religions that are anti-Gay. Look to Christianity and Islam for starters. Just remember. It has nothing to do with you, so why complain? People should just be more accepting. This is a truly good game, and it's sickening to see so many people complain about homosexuality.
***** I'm not really complaining about religion here. I'm just saying that a lot of these pathetic prejudiced beliefs do come about from religions, such as Christianity and Islam.
I'm sure there are plenty of homophobic people getting butt hurt by dragon age, but those people will always be butt hurt by bioware. My complaint comes from the quality difference of the romance options. Dorian is a magnificent character and I like him a lot but I'm not a gay character, which immediately restricts me to two women who are both fairly plain. Cassandra is a great character don't mistake me, but my character wouldn't romance her. He'd LOVE to romance Sera (I think that's how you spell her name) but she's a lesbian. I have no problem with a lesbian romance option, I applaud it, but I can't help but feel like it may have been a bit simpler to make all the romance options bi for the sake of the player so we can romance anyone we wish, instead of being manipulated into romance characters we may not like. Bar none the females have the most options. Blackwall, solas, sera, iron bull, Cullen. Maybe more I don't know about. I do know a straight male can only romance the quite masculine Cassandra, and the steward lady who is a third party character, much like your shuttle pilot from mass effect 3. I only wish that equality in video games wasn't shoe horned in at the cost of player choice. At the end of the day this is a rpg and a video game, not a dictum to which one should live their life.
To be fair the issue isn't homophobic gamers. People in general are homophobic. In 2014 people are only fine with homosexuals as long as they don't have to see them personally. But the minute a gay person is in their environment people show their true colors.
He turned into such a bro in Inquisition. Him and Solas (RIP what he did in Trespasser, that hit like a truck). Probably the only game that genuinely had me connect to virtual people.
@@Yodalemos Origins didn't hit me as hard, no. RDR2 Was a laughable flop for me from beginning to end. I never played ME. And yeah AC2, in fact almost every AC game up to Black Flag was really good. In fact you did get me thinking; I did feel as connected to some characters in Revelations and Black Flag. But I think the reason Inquisition is so effective, even more so than Origins, is because of who you are in it. You don't have to be Solas' or Cullen's friend. You can choose that. Origins was similar, but there your closest friend wasn't also your greatest enemy.
To anyone about to read this comment section, turn away. It's pretty much just full of people who are pissed off that critics aren't ripping into this game as much as they hoped would happen. Way too many people WANTED this game to suck so they could justify years of their retarded whining about Bioware. Instead the game came out and was very well received, so the people who wouldn't stfu about Bioware being dead for years have no desire to admit they were wrong, so they're spamming the internet with hateful comments of this game. I'm sure you can find plenty of genuine criticism for this game, but you need to dig through all of the crap.
Plus, a bunch of people just making an unnecessary cockfight between Skyrim and Dragon Age: Inquisition, despite being TWO VERY DIFFERENT RPG GAMES THAT YOU JUST CAN'T COMPARE!
This game is crap. It is a game thats called a emotional and tactical, story based role playing game and it is getting released on fuckin xBox and PS4. A fan of Dragon knew exactly when they said this: "That this here is no Dragon Age anymore!" They fucked up with DA2 where they put just NO effort into it. The story, the fights and the companions were bad and now they said DAI is comming to consoles and it looked like a fucking MMORPG... like ESO ? So people were sceptical and they were right the game is bad even though they promised smth else. Just Joe seems to be so stupid he cannot see.... and you.
What still pisses me off about this game (and its predecessor as well) is the fact that the loot system is bullshit and unrewarding. Except from the DLCs, you only get three or four armor models with slight changes to them throughout the entire game. These slight changes are mostly recoloring or adding some minor and forgettable details. The coolest armor is in fact worn by the NPCs and therefore completely unobtainable. Just look at the armor the Tevinter mages, the Venatori or some Orlesian nobles are wearing. This stuff is the real deal. Meanwhile your Inquisitor looks like a retarded peasant for most of the game. Even your companions have better armor design than the protagonist. I hope Bioware finally realizes that satisfying loot is vital for a good RPG and fix it for Dragon Age 4.
eh for me the weapons are satisfying enough. and Im always more about the character interactions in dragon age and not the loot. like I only want loot if its gonna get me something interesting to give to a campanion I could careless if my armor looks neat
Rose Erin Still, it is kinda strange and immersion-killing if your supposedly highly-influential and powerful Inquisitor looks like he lives in a dumpster.
My problem with the armor options is that there was obviously alot of work put into making each companion have multiple sets of personalized armor, and they basically all look pretty good. But then you look at the Inquisitor's personal armor and it looks like they're clad in tinfoil and cardboard, especially for the warrior armors.
Thats not true. I am a mage/ necromancer and crafted a tonne of warrior armour I cant even use it so I put on blackwall cassandra and iron bull instead. I had your issue when I played standard base game in 2014 but alot better options are available in digital deluxe game of year edition
Oh the black emporium has a tonne of schematics too. Buy the DLCs for sexy cosmetic content. The base version were garbage. Designed on purpose to be pay2play I bet, EA is shady this way. But the extra momey was worth it. It is a beautiful game with rich lore and tonne of warrior high tier schematics drops at higher levels
Finished the game 4 times, each time with a different world state & class. Awesome stuff. TW3 was nice but Geralt was a set protagonist, not a char I created, so DAI offered that, plus getting to play as a lady is always an added bonus BioWare always provides. Loved both DAI & TW3 tbh.
I cant be homophobic: I watch too much lesbian porn, what kind of sorry hypocrite would I be if I opposed gay rights? DA:I offers gay relationships? Sweet, time to make a sexy lesbian.
iSp1ke exactly, the options of making your character morally questionable make it truly a great RPG, the way its supposed to be, very similar in my opinion to fallout 3. Most rpg’s get that wrong now a days with your character forced to be either nice or good but a jerk. Witcher 3 is the only contemporary rpg I think got it right. Can only hope hey go back to that model
It's a good game definitely one to own was it better than the Witcher 3 no but It's still a great game I don't think even Skyrim could compete witch the Witcher 3 but DAI and skyrim are great games
Derick Copp well I know that dragon age 2 was not that good for most of the fans but I enjoyed it.I liked the combat, story, side quests and especially the builds(the rogue ones).
It's perfectly ok to like it but I just feel that with all it's flaws giving it more than 8/10 is just not being subjective enough. I have to point out here that 6-7/10 is not a bad score, it's way above average, way too many people seem to use scoring as if 5-6/10 meant that the game is barely playable. That said, I like the game too. I'm mainly struggling to deal with all the stuff in the game that I really hate. The writing took a very deep dive after DA:O and on many occasions I fell that even DA2 did that better than DA:I. The first examples that come to my mind are the very start of the game and the leading the entire Inquisition part. At the start, you are a prisoner accused of killing everyone at a worldwide peace conference, but for some reason when they need to transport you to the front line, they assign you no guard escort at all and you are even set free and given a weapon. After a bit of fighting your way towards the front, everyone just suddenly trusts your word that you will help and even refers to your judgment over battle strategy when they have an actual military commander present. No reason is given as to why a wanted prisoner accused of mass murder is given trust like that and nobody would act like that in real life. This thread of thought continues through the entire first part of the game, and at least to me giving the player control over the entire inquisition at the point it happens doesn't feel at all like they've earned that kind of trust. I never understood why Cullen or Cassandra couldn't lead and they don't explain that either, the game just preaches about how the player character is the best for the job and trusted by everyone without actually showing enough reason as to why. I just felt like a competent special force team leader at most. Then, after they give you control of the entire Inquisition, you still continue to be an errand boy and front line vanguard even though you're supposed to be the most valuable asset of the entire organisation backed by an army, and your death would mean certain loss for everyone. Being this important in actuality would mean that doing anything at all would happen through sending your troops to secure the area and wipe out any threats, and then go do what only you are able to escorted by a personal platoon of guards in absolute safety. The Inquisition can't afford to use you without keeping you safe with an army anywhere you go. A great game could be possible to make in a situation like this, as well, but it most likely wouldn't anywhere close to an RPG. Don't get me wrong, I really love most of the things you can do in the game. I just hate how illogical it is storywise for the character in their stated position to be doing those things the way they do. I would have many other points about the writing as well but the biggest issue I have is that they just made the player character way too important for everyone involved. In DA:O, your importance plotwise is pretty much the same, but you still need to do everything yourself because nobody in the country believes you in that they really should stop infighting and team up. So you have to prove yourself to them and afterwards they still don't answer to you, only coming to your aid in the big battle because that's what they promised. And in the big battle they actually do give you support to keep you alive so that you can do the thing only you or Alistair can do. In DA2, you're just a normal citizen who just happens to be good at finding all kinds of trouble and somewhat managing to fix them. So it makes sense that you're on your own with just your friends to support you. In DA:I, I think they should have made it so that for the majority of the game, you actually are just a spec ops team leader doing missions in places that they can't use their armies. Just make it so that the player character personally would not be needed to stay alive to have a possibility of victory, and instead write it so that the player character just proves to be so good at what they do that they end up winning the conflict for their side. And if they have to make the player character the leader of the entire Inquisition, have it be very close to the end with a few actual leadership-related actions for the player to do before a final showdown, not at the very start of the game in a setting where nobody could afford to lose the character. Gameplaywise, the game also went downhill for me even from DA2 in some aspects. The combat in action is great in general, but way too many enemies just feel like damage sponges instead of an actual threat or something you could outsmart. They worsened this further by making previous boss-level enemies such as Pride and Sloth demons just a normal enemy type among all the others. This one's really weird though, it feels like most enemies can take way too much damage for basic attacks and most abilities to feel really impactful but at the same time don't feel like enough of a threat to justify using your abilities. Upping the difficulty just makes them tank even more damage but kill you fast enough that even clever use of combos often doesn't feel all that rewarding since you have to use them several times on one enemy at the worst, and similar combat happens so often that winning one hard fight doesn't feel like much of an accomplishment. The tankiness is made worse by the abundance of shield-bearing enemies because it often feels like their shields block absolutely everything in addition to staggering you and the anti-shield options you have have a pretty minimal effect. In addition to this, they don't have any enemies that bear shields the size you have access to, only the gigantic ones, which makes it look like that the designers just wanted to make shields on enemies act as an anti-ability wall instead of an actual block mechanic. Yes, blocking hasn't been a mechanic in other games either aside of a couple of counter-like abilities but they also never carried ginormous shields for the sole apparent purpose of stopping people from doing stuff. Carrying a shield like that should make you extremely slow and easy to circle around especially out of formation, but they can turn around just as fast as anyone else so if you have their aggro, trying to circle does nothing. Then the game has the streamlining of the actual RPG and tactical elements. Stripping the hotbar slots from 30+ to just 8 and requiring your once-in-a-blue-moon ultimate ability to be equipped in one slot at all times to even be able to ever use it leaves you with just 7 ability slots that you have to balance between utility, mobility, and counter mechanics. This strips down so much of the customisability of your fighting style compared to previous games that it's just sad. They scrapped choosing your stats yourself, instead you get a balanced amount of the most relevant stats to your class and the only option to buff any of your stats more is through armor crafting, which is nice but extremely limited. Most of the passive abilities are very nice, but grabbing the ones you want to combo without being able to use the abilities you have to pick on the way is very annoying. This is especially apparent with a mage but all of the others as well, you are forced to pick just a general-purpose ability setup and have no room for any kind of specialized combo outside your main one. Then they scrapped the tactics options, so now you can't decide or customise how your party members use their abilities unless you micro all of them yourself, making it so that either you focus on just your own character and all of your party members fight suboptimally (or even in the case of Iron Bull, kill themselves by using health-costing abilities) or every fight becomes a long-lasting drag when you pause the fight all the time to manually use all of the party's abilities. Et cetera, et cetera. I'd have much more examples to give but by now I have wasted so much time in this comment I don't even really know why I made that I need to stop here
Not sure if anyone else feels this way, and don't get me wrong DAI is an amazing game - the world is vast and there are great quests, but does anyone else feel like the "Dragon Age-ness" is missing? It doesn't give you that same feel as Origins and even 2. Maybe it's the characters, but I was never really into the plot or the Inquisitor for that matter.
i think after the flak they got for ME3 they played it super safe. the previews made it seem alot darker and you would end up sacrificing alot if you wanted to preserve your own men. the other dragon ages tended to have the death and destruction on screen, whereas here it tends to be implied or kinda hidden in found messages and such.
Playing it right now, and loving it. This time on a brand new PC. First time was on PS4 but now I can finally play this masterpiece on all it's glory performance wise. This angry joe review and Guild Wars 2 hold a special place in my heart.

I've played Both Dragon age and The witcher both are great games. I don't know why The witcher 3 fanboys bash down dragon age? They have prob not even played Dragon age, and comparing 2 whole different games are just dumb.
+Christoffer Karlsson They are not really that different, don't pretend that they are. I had high expectations for Inquisition and it failed them. It was shitty mmo-style grinding nonsence. While Witcher gave me DAT FEEL, that DA:O gave when I played it first time. That's why I bash Inquisition - not as Witcher fan, but as DA fan. Look how it should be done, Bioware! Look and be ashamed!
Stay Home Saying that Inquisition failed hard is just deluded. Inquisition is a big part of the Dragon age story, and yeah there is a diffrence. In the witcher there you hack & slash have no party, In Dragon age you have to use strategy.
+Stay Home Witcher is an action rpg, while dragon age is a tactical rpg where you fight with companion, witcher is an rpg where your character is already chosen while dragon age is an rpg where you can choose you own characters, In dragon age its more freedom for less characterization (a different approach,, none of them are better). So its fine if you don't like Inquisition but its not same style as witcher 3, even If I love DAI way more than the witcher series, I do not compare them since the only ressemblance is both are rpg (and a different style of rpg) in medieval time.
*scrolls down to comments* *sees that the homosexual aspect of the game is the only thing that people are willing to talk about* *scrolls away from comments*
yeah I'm shocked that people give so much of a shit fit as to actually devote a completely terribly ignorant comment section to it...then again it is the internet so I mean what was I expecting...
Pro tip guys, mod the game if you're playing on PC. I am a HUGE fan of dragon age, but just couldn't get used to the combat. There are mods to allow you to autoattack while moving (melee characters, I'm talking to you), increase combat speed, modify useless abilities, get rid of the looting animation, and so on The game is absolutely amazing in every way besides combat and that slow fucking loot animation. Fix that, and you've got an amazing game
Ok I played this game AND Witcher 3. Love both, I've played this one a lot more however. it should be mentioned that this is my first dragon age and therefore my intro to the whole franchise
Same! I started playing inquisition first right after Witcher dlc just to cuztomize geralt as a main character and kinda liked it at that time. and now it’s one of my favorite after playing all the series this year.
For all you people complaining about Dorian being gay, calm the fuck down. I enjoyed having a companion that I could romance that was actually gay. It made it more meaningful, especially with Dorians personal story, than a bisexual romance would. Dorian was very well written and his story was incredibly realistic, at least with respect to myself. If you don't like it, romance one of the straight options, I don't get what the problem is.
Gabe Newell PirateBay heathen here. My wallet is full and untouched as my game selection expands like never before. No Steam,Origin or Uplay can touch me. All praise the heathen gods.
Am I the only one who thinks Origins was better than Inquisition? Origins had the better story, better dialogues, better soundtrack. It's also strategic based rather than action based, but I guess this is about personal preference. Inquisition has many more things to do - large areas, war table, crafting, and more. But "more" doesn't mean "better". I guess my main problem with Inquisition is that its repetitive in a very non-satisfying way. The side-quests are simple, but require time - you have to do a lot of exploring, kill (respawning!) enemies, and most important - move from one point to the other... Just too much unintelligent content. For example, anyone remembers the Western Approach quest for encountering the dragon? The most challenging game content is hid by several "Go here, kill that, collect this" quests.
+Yoad Michael Everyone thinks Origins is better than DAI, but DAI at least is better than DA2, so nobody really cried too much about DAI's issues. and yeah, the fluff content was pure snooze-fest. it really says something about the game when even Skyrim probably has less kill/collect quests than Inquisition, and the constant backtracking just made me feel frustrated. the biggest mistake was probably introducing Hinterlands so early on, or making Hinterlands the way it is, because the sheer amount of grind-quests in that zone made a lot of people quit because they felt compelled to complete them. in terms of dialogue quality, inquisition is no slouch, but the choices are very limited and i think we can blame that on the decision to voice hawke/inquisitor. and it doesn't help that you're not sure what your character might even say with those choices (can't tell you how many times i thought a choice was sarcastic, but wasn't) and we saw those problems as early as ME1 with Shepard. yeah, the combat is awful. it tries to mix strategy and action and fails on both. enemies took way too long to kill, and the tactics system was definitely a very shallow imitation of DAO. I definitely want bioware to return to its Baldurs Gates roots, but I don't think that's gonna happen as people love ARPGs.
Origins starting you off in a compeltely different place depending on what you chose and all of the side stories that came with it were better but overall they are very close.
Wow, I don't know, in a hindsight I think the distance between those 2 games is even bigger. I still have some very memorable moments from DA:Origins. I still think about the city-elf bride my character has left at the beginning of the game, I still think of how great duncan was, I still think about some epic battles, such as the brood mother and high dragon (And the background and story behind them, not just the strategic gameplay!). I even think about some of the decisions I made! The only memorable moment I had in Inquisition was the one where you attend the grand ball, and heck, the only reason I remember it is that it has a much different gameplay element than everything you have in Inquisition.
Eh Origins had horrible combat tho. It was straight up boring, grindy and repetitive not to mention stupidly easy. Most of the time you could just start a battle than walk away to take a piss and get a fresh beer than come back when it was over.
This is true, because Origins was a point and click game that had auto attack. Combats were based on strategy, unlike Inquisition that is based on action. However, Inquisition in my opinion doesn't even get the action-combat right. Sure, it's strategic, fast paced, filled with cool moves etc but it's not challenging. There isn't anything smart about the combat in Inquisition, it's just button mashing once you find your favorite skill. For comparison, Witcher 3 in my opinion had a good action based combat that was very challenging.
I really feel like there aren't any honest reviews for this game. It's okay, but as many have said the world feels lifeless and empty, side quests are not up to par, there's so much busy work you forget what the hell the purpose of the game is and the worst thing of all............the neutered tactics, which says more than anything else about this game. If it's better than DA2 it's just barely. I've been playing Origins again as of late, just to remind myself of what this series really could have been. It's such a shame, Origins is so, so good.
+kylehogan7 I got the same feeling after finishing Inquisition. I feel like Dragon Age started out very well with Origins and BioWare wasn't sure what they wanted the series to be after that. Dragon Age: Origins and Saints Row 2 actually have at least one thing in common despite being totally different genres, their respective developers both fail to realise Dragon Age: Origins and Saints Row 2 were the best games in each franchise, and those two franchises have gotten worse over time from moving away from the things that made those two games so good.
+kylehogan7 Yeah, Origins is by far the best game in the series. Origins had some of that old BioWare magic like we had in Kotor and Baldur's Gate. DA:2 had an incredibly stupid and shallow main story in comparison. And DA:3 just feels like a bad soap opera with fetch/kill missions in between.
+kylehogan7 I mean, the busy work is true. I never realized how much time I actually spent doing meaningless tasks that just kept me distracted. To be fair, I thought the main story line was too short, and I ended up doing solely busy work to avoid finishing the game. But honestly, I found the whole experience to be quite satisfying.
+kylehogan7 To be fair, an empty and lifeless world cannot be avoided, especially if it's a videogame. But I agree that the way the story was told, and the gameplay, especially the horrible A.I. and the way that you can't choose the specialisation for your companions imo was a downgrade from origins. And I miss having 2 specialisations, and the lack of blood magic.
I wouldn't say origins had the best open world, but it's story was the best of its time, that's what made it timeless for me. story, characters, enemies
So I went and made the mistake of reading the comments. (I know, what was I thinking right?) But for fuck sakes, Bioware has always been open with sexuality of any gender. So here's are lovely surprise...YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO IT! I know it's a shocking revelation, but you can completely ignore it if you wish, options are an amazing thing aren't they. Also, it doesn't take away from the simple fact that DA:I is an amazing game and is the DA that everyone has been wanting. God, people just can't been fucking happy.
It looks like everyone in the comments has hate for everything. But that's because G+ fucked the system over and now every asshole is top comment because people like to reply to them. Keep in mind that the percentage of people who don't have any problems is much.. MUCH higher then the people who hate. They are just never seen because they get buried under the shitstorm of replies. I've lost faith in TH-cam a year ago already. But I guess we can't do anything about it. I'm still hoping Google would give a fuck to fix this.
***** Why? You're are an example of the fucked part of TH-cam. In your last comment you said people in these comments shouldn't be homophobic. Yet you call me a faggot. I'm just saying wat's true. Grow up, instead of insulting me for no reason.
Same, I didn't think people that live in the now could still be so narrow-minded to say being homosexuality is bad. The Greek did it, the romans did it. Hell everybody did it until the Church said it was bad, even animals do it. These people need to go back to school >_>
I just started a new playthrough with the deep voice female. I like it so far, but maybe it depends on your dialogue choices? This one I am an aggressive, stoic dwarven woman. Although, I am only 3 hours in. Maybe it doesnt maintain the quality
@Lovecraftian Face I played it without DLC and havent played the main DLC yet. You are probably safer waiting to buy the complete edition if you want to be safe. You can wait for a sale. It goes on sale A LOT
GrandeJano DA is Lord of the rings, and game of thrones combined into one massive piece of awesome. Skyrim is just a bunch of little kids dressed up as knights.
Well, you finally made one of your most requested reviews, Joe. Thank you so much for that, and I love it. Just one question. Will you ever review Shadow of Mordor? Or Far Cry 4? Or Little Big Planet 3? Or Assassin's Creed Unity? Or Sunset Overdrive? Who knows?
What the hell? Sounds like I've missed half the game. Cullen romance is totally broken, I never got Sera to sing (is this a romance thing?), and there were other pub scenes in another video that I never got. What's going on? :( Only using a fast loot mod, nothing that tampers with the story or levelling or anything like that.
Judit Szabó DA: Inquisition's story is very heavily based on micro-decisions as well as macro-decisions. For example, if you leave Skyhold for the first time without talking to Sera you will automatically receive disapproval from her and most of the best parts of the romance stories are held for the Trespasser DLC. The best advice I can give you is to save your game every time you interact with a character and exhaust all conversation options whenever you can. Or just look up a walkthrough, whatever....casual.
+Judit Szabó Sera never sings in the game as far as I am aware. Though the bard within the Tavern will sing the song called 'Sera's song' from time to time (the one that is at the end of the video)
C'mon guys, I know it's the internet and everything but can we just admit that bioware is obviously trying to be a social justice hipster with their characters. I mean it makes no statistical sense to have 2 straight characters out of 8 total. The fact that they included characters that are exclusively gay or straight is just stupid. Either make them available for everyone or don't fuck with sexualities in the first place.
LX I've read some of your comments, so this one confuses me because isn't that like your entire argument? For more representation because you feel that there is under representation? Are you admitting that you're wrong? I don't understand.
This is the future, sira. The people screamed give us more options during Mass Effect 1 and that is Bioware's answer. Now you want them to revoke your wishes, just because it 'overwhelms you'? Hell, people can never be satisfied with anything. _facepalm_
LX It's not pandering to expect at the very least equal representation when you make up the majority of the population. Making one heterosexual option for each gender, while making the other six either lesbian or gay is a mite strange considering Biowares demographic. At least make them all bisexual, then nobody can complain.
sdmblack1 huh, I think I'd have to agree with you. I'm pro-equal rights for gays (being gay myself) but it doesn't make sense to me to block off any companion from romance due to gender. While from a stastical standpoint everyone being bisexual is kinda absurd, it's a far better compromise than barring anyone from anyone.
Teagon Barry varric and fenris were awesome... most of the casts of inquisition were also cool... from iron bull to viviane and cole... but they all are just a bunch of cool individuals origin on the other hand has the combinations... relationships that grows between the characters are super memorable
no one is forcing you to have a gay relationship. If you are playing games like this and ending up in gay relationships then you have some serious questions to ask yourself
Fallout 4 sucks especially compared to it's predecessor which was fallout nv. It's not a good rpg, but I guess it's a pretty average open world fps with some good exploration
LOL, I'm ok with games including all sexual persuasions... but the way Bioware writes them in other games, you get the feeling like 80'% of the world population is homosexual or bi. Bottom line, Bioware makes great games and I am glad they are inclusive, but they feel too much like a politically correct Dating Simulators sometimes...
***** Seriously? Somehow you read what I wrote, and your take away message was that I have a problem with Bi People? My personal opinion is that when companies SHOEHORN diversity into a game just for the political correctness of doing so, and when it detracts from the immersion of the story and gameplay, it's just poor work. It would be like creating a video game about Feudal Japan before the west arrived, and having a White guy, a Latin guy, a black guy, and an Indian guy as four out of the 8 main characters. There is nothing wrong with any of those ethnicity, but forcing it into the situation just to satisfy some politically correct agenda or to appeal to black people, white people, latin people and indian folks so they buy your game is just hack work. It's like in the 90s when educational TV shows would include rap music, really really bad rap music, and have the whitest people on the show act like they like it and even rap a few verses... It's just bad... Not the white people rapping part, the fact that it was forced... Bioware needs to learn to be more subtle and less preachy/IN YOUR FACE with stuff like this, let it be like it is in real every day life. Obviously all bets are off if the story takes place in a gay bar, or something, but at least have it make sense!
*sigh* Again, you guys are missing the point... The ratio of Gay to straight is not on trial so much as the way it's forced into the story. It's badly written and gets annoying. It's like Bioware is overcompensating. It's subtle I admit, it's not something most people notice. But compared to how Last of us handled their Sexuality issues - Bioware uses a Sledgehammer, and Naughtydog uses a feather. Bottom line, Naughtydog's LGBT characters felt natural and alive and not IN YOUR FACE, while Biowares just felt forced and like they are trying too hard. The ratio isn't the problem, it's a symptom of the problem.
D3mang3l Dude, who gives a shit? It's a game. I don't understand how it's bad at all. All this is doing is making you seem like a fucking homophobic idiot. And Naughtydog didn't really use a feather for that shit. Just, shut up please, for your own sake at least.
first 40 hours of this game on nightmare is the worst for the AI. Mages and rogues will run right up the enemy and mages will use barrier on themselves and not the tank. and tanks rarely use their taunts and are horrible at keeping guard and aggro, basically leading the enemy on to your ranged party members, if they aren't already close quarters. Worst fucking AI and is the only reason nightmare is somewhat difficult.
My mage always buffed me and only me. You can change their behavior and tactics and manually place them outside of the battlefield. I stayed in the top down view for most battles up until it was the clean up phase.
I get what you're saying, but fallout 4 suffers from the voiced player because they halfassed it. They didn't give the chat options enough weight since the voice actor would have to commit to every story split. Luckily, DAI put in the extra effort in this regard. Not saying Fallout is better or worse then this, but it does suffer from a few descions such as this. Inquisition's commitment to quality voice acting is impressive since they even gave the player 4 voices (in total) to play with.
That depend on the rpg. A game like witcher voice acting is a must. As it's about Geralt, his story and ciri. This is known as a narrative driven rpg. But then sometimes you have rpgs like Morrowind, Where you are the character. And the rpg is open and the narrative dictated by you. In this sort of rpg voice acting destroys it. Which is why fallout 4 voice acting was destined to fail. Now it could work, if they remove the concept its you in the fallout world, and stuck you to a narrative, cutscene plot driven rpg.
Elferrari Good fantasy story, awesome characters (Iron bull and dorian are damn funny), good combat, dragon fights are epic...if you like rpgs you will probably enjoy it.
Yea. You get idiots complaining about "homosexual options" invading their heterosexual lifestyle. Saying homosexuals complaining to devs about it. I've never seen gays complain about not having a romance option or having to play, well just about every other game that involves a male and female. But it's evident in this comment section that it's the straight boys that like to cry. Now THAT's gay! lol.
Eric Dumont It's just a bunch of brats and a few bigots, look at the number of dislikes, an insignificant drop in the ocean(what is that like one thousandth of a percent) just a loud minority. Edit: dumb me that would be closer to 0.1%
Daed Lizrad " It's just a bunch of brats and a few bigots, look at the number of dislikes, an insignificant drop in the ocean(what is that like one thousandth of a percent) just a loud minority." Don't you know, apparently their the "Majority" because there more heterosexuals than homosexuals. So glad we had that meeting amongst us heterosexuals and elected them to make general sweeping statements in our name!.. oh wait we didn't.
***** I just came here because I like playing Dragon Age, and I like how Bioware treats its players like adults. If people lack the maturity to handle sexuality of others then maybe they be better of playing something else. It is not like the game forces you to play it that way.
@Truth Seeker I bought the game late and played it for the first time after the patch and was totally confused at all the bad reviews >.< I guess the patch changed a lot of things then. Because I absolutely love the game
I don't know what you're talking about, there's no such thing as MEA I think you ight be talking about Andromeda, the third person borderlands clone with zero relation to the mass effect universe.
@@everinghall8622 oh really...it is called Mass Effect Andromeda set at least a thousand years after shepard destroyed the reapers and it brought a stain on the franchise BUT...I agree with you that it would have probably done better as a stand alone game
You know what the problem with the Dragon Age series? They used to market Dragon Age Origins as a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, and now they don't with the sequels. And there's a reason for that. These aren't true RPGs any longer. They are single player go-fetch-furs, grind-the-enemy-to-death MMOs.
Shania Uchiha Not going to happen. PC gamers (such as me and probably you as well) are a minority, they don't generate a sufficient profit. At this point, I'd say, an insignificant minority, which is also known for pirating the games and being too picky. This market is dying out, I'm even surprised the developers decided to port Inquisition on PC after all (albeit without any adaptation and proper testing).
Everyone is saying this game sucks, then why did it such high ratings, GOTY nominations and fans loved it back in 2014 and early 2015. It seems ever since Witcher 3 came out people started saying this game sucked. So DA:I was only good 6-7 months?
Well people can't help but compare this game to Witcher 3 and we all know W3 > DAI. People are just starting to see the flaws in DAI that's why it's getting boring to play knowing there could be better ways to implement an RPG game.
No swimming :( That really bugs me, skyrim had more content and that was last gen. Games should be raising bars, Not lowering them. The witcher is an Open World Action Rpg, which also had the chance to learn from Dragon Ages mistakes. Just wait for until dawn comes out, people will rave about how much The witcher 3 sucks in comparison.
The fans don't love it actually, it's got a 5-6 average user rating. It's all the bullshit reviewers that were paid off to rate it higher. I hated it as soon as I got it, never finished it because it sucked.
I personally might like Inquisition the best overall. Origins is pretty freaking different but i love it to bits as well, and i wouldn't want them to change a thing about it.
Finally finished this game after so many years. I would start playthroughs and never finished because I could never get into this type of combat (I just caved and put it on easy to make it go faster) and I'm so happy I pulled through because i love this games story and characters
I was like you when I first heard about this game years ago. I just recently finished it and I absolutely love it. I thought the combat sucked ass when I first started and I just rolled my eyes. But I was bored so I kept playing and got really into the story. Then I found out that you can upgrade you combat moves lol THEN it became fun. Seriously though, why would anyone have to upgrade to able to simply block? I didn't get it lol
I'm not against gay or anything but do they really need it in this game? Like ok we get it YOU ACCEPT GAYS WOO HOO. Everytime we there was a gay sex scene in the game it felt out of place and took away from the story. I don't even mind if they were gay but the sex was over the top. I think sex in games (Straight or gay) is dumb and it never feels like the game needs it. Every time 2 male aliens or whatever got busy i always just skipped the cutscene because its unnecessary and honestly ruined the game a little bit.
Batmanick But if there was a straight sex scene it's not out of place right? I'm just trying to understand your point so please excuse me. You've argued 3 times about gay scenes being implemented but then your say you think any sex scene is unneeded. In case I need to quote: " Like ok we get it YOU ACCEPT GAYS WOO HOO. Everytime we there was a gay sex scene in the game it felt out of place and took away from the story". "I don't even mind if they were gay but the sex was over the top". "Every time 2 male aliens or whatever got busy i always just skipped the cutscene because its unnecessary and honestly ruined the game a little bit." We get it, homosexuality makes you uncomfortable, you can just admit you know. Rather than say you aren't against gays EXCEPT (insert whatever here). Just be honest man.
***** That's what I don't understand. It isn't and apparently a heart icon with (flirt description) is difficult to understand that you may want to romance this NPC.
Eric Dumont I said all sex (straight or gay) in games feel out of place especially gay (you have to admit it really isnt natural im sorry but its true) I realize its optional for YOUR character but you couldn't control the nps and how they did...things So no I am not homophobic love who you wanna love but keep it out of games (All sex in games)
how did this get a 9? this game sucked so hard. Dragon Age Origins was 9 this game is a 7 at best GTFO.If this game is a 9 the Witcher 3 breaks though at 15 out of 15 because there is no way dragon age comes close to the Witcher 3.
Casemir Solid V "this game sucked so hard. Dragon Age Origins was 9 this game is a 7 at best" If you think it's overrated, this may be why. You clearly have a major problem with it, but rate it a 7. I disagree with your statement that it sucks as I really enjoyed it, as did most players. But when everyone is so bad at using the classical 'out of 10' scale that 'sucked so hard" merits a '7 at best', where else would those who enjoyed the game go? I do think it's an awesome game personally, but I agree it still hasn't touched DA:O (I'm yet to play Witcher 3 - I have a copy in my hands right now, but I am gonna wait until the anticipation is literally about to kill me before I play). On my scale I'd give it a 7.5/10, but to me that SHOULD say 'great game with an excellent story and decent characters but is yet to meet the ridiculously high standard of the original DA". Ofc, I don't know your full opinion of the game, and you were maybe just being flippant, but to me, 'sucked' should merit a 4 at best.
DA:I is like a single-player MMO. Vast, pretty, but largely empty maps held together with dull, repetitive fetch and/or kill quests. The plot was ok, but story elements suffered from being interspersed with too much running around the big empty spaces, and recycling the villain from a DA2 DLC was weird and stupid.
Just started playing this, first Dragon Age -game for me, lifelong Mass Effect fanboy, worth game purely because Inquisition used Banshee sound effects from Mass Effect 3 for some of the demons that spawn from rifts, 5/5
I just finished Origins again and I still love it. Best Dragon Age game and one of my top 3 of all time. Don’t miss out on that one. I don’t think we’ll ever see it’s like again.
@@justApigeon. Yes. I am on my first playthrough of Origins and it is hands down the best in the series, and I played Inquisition first. Origins is like playing through a dark fairytale. I absolutely love it.
I'm playing this right now. After 30+ hours, I've resorted to cheating to get the herbs because herb collection in this game is a nightmare. Side quests are also stale and there's an insane amount of busywork (i.e. close X amount of rifts from a certain region, collect Y amount of items). Main quests and stories are alright so I'm only continuing to play for those. It's a massive game, but it feels like there isn't much to do. The world feels empty and depressing.
***** Jesus Christ, I'm so sorry, bro. I can't imagine playing this on consoles lol. Getting logging stands and quarries is a nightmare and forget about herb gathering. The game doesn't have a dev console, but you can download an easy to use cheat engine that manipulates the values in the DAI executable.
+Cherry Pauper That's how I felt. Origins is one of my favorite games ever. It had an amazing story and was very direct. The world here felt so empty and cold. The quests were AWFUL.
Skyrim kicks this game's butt easily. But I do question the high rating here, Alien Isolation only got an 8 despite that game being awesome and only really have two negative points about (back-tracking and sequel baiting) which let's face it are so minor it's barely worth downing the game for. I'd give Alien Isolation a 9 easily. But you mention so many negatives with this game yet give it a 9 (8 for PC). Sounds a bit too forgiving there, this game has out-dated gaming console port screaming all over it. All those problems with the PC like poor graphics, clunky controls and frustrating mechanics with no tooltips or aids should make this game no more than a 6.
Skyrim: Larger open world Better graphics More interesting side quests Better storyline Better soundtrack (though DAI isn't bad) Better crafting/loot system NO MOBILE GAMING "GIVE ME MONEY" mechanic No bolted on horrible multiplayer Greater variety in the types of combat styles you can use. Need we say more? DAI has better dragon fights, more companions.......................that's about it. On the PC DAI is lacking because clearly the developers didn't give a monkey's about PC users, it was made for consoles and people who want to watch far too many sex scenes.
Luke Hector Combat variety is better in DAI imo. While Skyrim is interesting the combat there is one of the worst within RPGs. There's no weight to it and it feels highly repetitive. Also that's why rating systems aren't good. This here is Joe's own rating system and just because you might think this or that game deserves an 8 or 9 doesn't mean it would on Joe's ratings. That 8 or 9 is by your rating system.
What I did love was how balanced the classes of your companions were. When you think about it, it seemed like Origins wanted you to play as a Rogue or Mage. I mean from the 10 companions you have: 6 of them are warriors, 2 rogues, and 2 mages. Here in Inquisition, its a balanced 3-3-3 with your inquisitor being the deciding *vote*.
"This is becoming a problem, and it better not become worse in 2015."
Me in 2018: HAHAHAHA Oh poor Joe.
No kidding...
Yep. :(
Sadly... It's spreading like cancer :(
If only he knew.

"I couldn't find out how much a character likes or dislikes me" ... I knew Solas didn't like me when he punched me in the face.
it was always pretty clear, just go to them and talk to them, you can already see by how they greet you.
I knew Vivienne didn’t like me when she sent people into my room to take all my stuff lol
Wait, egg can do what?!
Yeah.
Solas can punch YOU? I thought it was the other way around...
Nine companions. So be it. You shall be the fellowship of the ring...
Lol

nicholas fotou Great. Where are we going?
Watching this in 2019 corporate commander has taken over our games
Only the ones that were made by EA mostly and any subsidiary of ea
watching it in 2020, Bioware is sadly no more. RIP Bioware.
Lol,, oh yeaa that's what he (it?) was called, loool
Yep, it’s impossible to fully enjoy a game without being barred by a mtx store
If "your"games only consist of games from EA, Activision and such, then maybe.
Otherwise no, more than enough good, honest games out there and still coming out ;) .
Who's playing in 2020 and watching this review? Bought it ages ago and I'm just now gunna play it. And love the part where he says microtransactions better not become a problem. Well you called it. Major f*@#!n problem!
I played it a few months ago... not fan. It feels like an MMO with no other people in it.
Same, I got for pc and controls were bad, they better now, and I finally forced myself to beat the game. Its a 7/10 for me, really average and they should of deleted the hinterlands honestly lol.
Yea the game is fantastic honestly can't wait for dragon age 4
Matt McClune
Just finished the campaign & DLC for the first time. For all that it was lacking, I really can’t say enough about this game. I loved it.
This game is just amazing (except the multiplayer that is trash), I really liked the interaction with the characters and the romance scenes Lol. And finally a game where your choices make a DIFFERENCE!
i really gotta start finishing my games
+Damion Lawson same. I had to finally organize my games to haven't finished it, to finished it and the complete them.
ummm. no, i can just google guides if i want to
+VinAr Run Yea games are so huge nowadays, I mean I kinda like it and wanted that for a long time, but now it's just too many good games to play them all ahah ^^
and i thought that by getting a ps4 when i buy a game i would beat it and complete it to be able to buy a new one would help. nope, gotten an even bigger library of unfinished games now.
That's all.*
this. kinda pisses me off that they did it this way though. the game simply is not complete with trespasser
Man Kev Yep! Same with Mass Effect 3's Leviathan and From the Ashes DLCs. I couldn't imagine going without those. Very important DLCs in terms of adding to the story.
Yeah the original ending is garbage.
Yeah, bit of a double edged sword. You want the single player DLC to matter, but you probably don't want to buy it along with your $60 game to get the full experience. If a version has or will come out with it already installed, I suggest waiting to buy that since Tresspasser is pretty important.
wait, Joe doesn't say which is the better version to get. PS4 or PC?
Lol, "I hope loot crates and micro transactions don't get worse in 2015" welcome to 2018! Don't forget to steal your parents credit card kids!
Will do :)
And worse In 2020
welcome to 2020 we have loading screens monetized
@@battyflaps5410 dam beat me to it lol
I would not be against romancing Scout Harding. Not at all.
I definitely tried
People asked for it to be added in a DLC (before Jaws of Hakkon), but Bioware said no.
+WhoAteMyFunDip So they stuck us with a Chick who, right after sex, talks about how her ex was murdered, but we can't get the sharp tongued, quick-witted Harding as a love interest? I call BS
+John Marsh maybe she's dating Dagna... Dunno. I thought the romance options in the game were terrible.
+WhoAteMyFunDip Actually, Dagna dates Sera, if you didn't romanced Sera yourself. Maybe Harding will be a romance-able companion in the next game...
For some reason I feel like Shepard fell into a wormhole and ended up in a kind of medieval style dimension, but I don't know why... We'll bang, okay?
lol
That's one of my gripes in the game. Was just Sheapard. I mean seriously, have a unique protagonist for once
+RagingRejectTV Starts petition to include Shepard in every game created from this day forth as at least an npc.
DomR1997 noooooo
We don't need another game with 3 ending with different colours
2.5 years later, 6 playthroughs with 400+ hours later. I still haven't tried multiplayer as it doesn't belong in an Rpg
I recently started a new campaign (my third) with a dwarf 2handed haha, I already played as a human rogue dual wield and a elf rift mage, 210 hours of gameplay. I'm thinking to play as a archer next, but I don`t know yet if I will play again xD
Also never played multiplayer lol
I like how Fable 2 and other games did multiplayer. DA: I couldve had something similar. A friend joins your session and you choose them from the tarot card screen. They act like any other companion and so on. Pretty basic but I would have appreciated it.
Multiplayer doesnt belong in an RPG.. HAHAHAHAHA
Yep same. Over 300 hours in and I still never touched multiplayer. The only multiplayer I’ve ever played in an RPG game was ME3 and that’s because I believed that it was still 5000 ems to get the perfect ending instead of 3000.
Apparently you've never heard of MMORPGs
Quanari - Dragon Age Series
Quarian - Mass Effect Series
A small flip will do.
Qunari not Quanari. But I see your point. They are unmistakably similar.
Pretty sure Quarian came from quarantine but whatever
Alien age = where elves lives
Alien age = mass effect other name
Lol
Quarren - Star Wars
already bought the game. came here for the humor
Joe and Joe are hilarious. I love them for their honesty

Did you guys actually like this game in Hindsight?
I thought 2 was better than Inq...

What made it better? I liked this one but its kinda to me a matter of.... they're both equally good but inquisition was a PLUS .0001 better.
Anyone else going back and watching old Angry Reviews because we havent gotten any new ones in a while lol?
Lol mhm a thing of the past, granted I'm here because I'm thinking about buying the game. Attempting to finish DA:O and all its dlc's.
Jorge Polanco Oh Origins is great and honestly if you like Dragon Age a lot 2 might be worth playing. But Inquisition is almost as good as Origins.
+Abigail Weller lol but I thought the general universal consensus was to skip DA2 as if it had never been created :/
Jorge Polanco If you can get it for really cheap(which shouldnt be a problem now) I'd play it, the game still has some awesome moments and has a really good cast of characters.
yep lol exactly what im doing.
Didn't buy it 3 years ago. just got it for 7.99 on the psn store. That's what you call a steal.
Right??? I was thinking "Awright, eight dollar game, let's see how this little guy does." And BOY DID I GET BLOWN AWAY BY THIS GAME. Guess that's what happens when you expect 100% for a game to be dirt poor.
Just got it on PSN too, hoping to get a good amount of fun from it. Looks awesome though !

I personally prefer gameplay with a party of 4 instead of being a one man freak show. Story wise, I would agree that the witcher 3 story was more satisfying and well-written...the Bioware plot bunny where you play as Jesus/Last Hope/Savior/Chosen One/Best Chance for Humanity was wearing a bit thin.

2014 - Dragon Age Inquisition
2015 - Witcher 3
it's been awesome past 2 years
It was the worst Dragon Age game to me. So hope The Witcher is at least interesting and has a challenge

It was by far the worst Dragon age, I dropped that shit before finishing. Witcher 3 is good so far but it suffers the same making a massive world with everything fun spread to far away. Its not as good as the second one to me.

***** most organized religions have a stance against homosexuality, there's nothing narrow minded about saying they're full of shit for that.
***** No one is shoving it in your face. It's optional for christ sake.
I love Cullen... Ever since the first game.
Same!
He turned into such a bro in Inquisition. Him and Solas (RIP what he did in Trespasser, that hit like a truck). Probably the only game that genuinely had me connect to virtual people.
@@TheStraightestWhitest You didn't get connected in Origins? RDR2? Mass Effect Trilogy? AC2?
@@Yodalemos Origins didn't hit me as hard, no. RDR2 Was a laughable flop for me from beginning to end. I never played ME. And yeah AC2, in fact almost every AC game up to Black Flag was really good. In fact you did get me thinking; I did feel as connected to some characters in Revelations and Black Flag.
But I think the reason Inquisition is so effective, even more so than Origins, is because of who you are in it. You don't have to be Solas' or Cullen's friend. You can choose that. Origins was similar, but there your closest friend wasn't also your greatest enemy.

Big Check that metascore, biiiiiiiiiiiiiatch
I hope Bioware finally realizes that satisfying loot is vital for a good RPG and fix it for Dragon Age 4.
if you're elven, the dalish armour (especially female) looks really sick. always rock the keeper robes on my elf.
eh for me the weapons are satisfying enough. and Im always more about the character interactions in dragon age and not the loot. like I only want loot if its gonna get me something interesting to give to a campanion I could careless if my armor looks neat
Rose Erin Still, it is kinda strange and immersion-killing if your supposedly highly-influential and powerful Inquisitor looks like he lives in a dumpster.
Human Inquisitor can wear Orlesian armor.
jengaaaaa But only the lame ones.
you are so important in this game, that you have to collect crappy plants and ores like a peon
hans hyooman you don't have too... Just send your troops to collect them for you. Nobody's forcing you mate
Peon: Work, work!
Mr Muscle why I can't send these fools to collect bottles, shards, mosaics and etc?
that is too slow
AlexZebol because then there would be no collectibles
"Is something the matter... ah!"
"Oh for fuck sake!"
"Do you see this?"
"No"
I'm on the floor.
Sweet, time to make a sexy lesbian.
ironically there is a lot of country that only condemn male homosexuality, and i am not kidding.

iSp1ke exactly, the options of making your character morally questionable make it truly a great RPG, the way its supposed to be, very similar in my opinion to fallout 3. Derick Copp well I know that dragon age 2 was not that good for most of the fans but I enjoyed it.I liked the combat, story, side quests and especially the builds(the rogue ones).
This review convinced me to get in to the DA game series. One of the best decisions of my life.
9/10 Yes, someone finally calls this a good game! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who likes this game.
Don't worry you are not alone.
Your not alone
I'd have much more examples to give but by now I have wasted so much time in this comment I don't even really know why I made that I need to stop here
The DLC really put it up there for me! Trespasser had me so pumped for Dragon Age 4
@randy K15 because it was the only decent game at that time, plus this game feels like a hollow single-player MMO
Ethan Cage Same here. :(
i think after the flak they got for ME3 they played it super safe. the previews made it seem alot darker and you would end up sacrificing alot if you wanted to preserve your own men. the other dragon ages tended to have the death and destruction on screen, whereas here it tends to be implied or kinda hidden in found messages and such.
Same here. I played it for 2-3 hours and nothing in it feld as if it was a dragon age game.

Hahaha, you had fun? The three are amazing.
I've played Both Dragon age and The witcher both are great games. I don't know why The witcher 3 fanboys bash down dragon age? They have prob not even played Dragon age, and comparing 2 whole different games are just dumb.
+Christoffer Karlsson
They are not really that different, don't pretend that they are.
+Stay Home
both games won game of the year grow the fuck up
+Christoffer Karlsson
Not really a big difference. They are both open-world story-driven rpgs. Its not like we comparing DA to Battlefield.

Pro tip guys, mod the game if you're playing on PC. I am a HUGE fan of dragon age, but just couldn't get used to the combat. There are mods to allow you to autoattack while moving (melee characters, I'm talking to you), increase combat speed, modify useless abilities, get rid of the looting animation, and so on

Witcher 3 fans are cancerous. Glad you enjoyed both
Origins is a much better game than Inquisition.
@@mehawimes629 I was just about to come and say the same.
If you don't like it, romance one of the straight options, I don't get what the problem is.
congratulations in fucking dorian... i present the certificate of gay anal expertise... welcome to the depopulation project..
knight2battle Why do i feel like those are all compliments? Population levels seem to be increasing just fine without my assistance.
ParkerT212 Yes there are.. they are compliments... heres a banana.. nice kiddy..
Depopulation..heh. Is this kid serious?
AydarBMSTU No im not.. im just bluffing.. lets all be gays and lets populate mars..
Don't ever forget children. PC Master race. :)
B-b-but origin, *origin*.... Gabe Newell do something
Thank you for reminding us, all mighty Lord GabeN. Praise the Steam Exploration sale as well, and have mercy upon my pitiful wallet.
Gabe Newell PirateBay heathen here. My wallet is full and untouched as my game selection expands like never before. No Steam,Origin or Uplay can touch me. All praise the heathen gods.
flyingspagetti What did you say my child? PirateBay is for the peasants.

For comparison, Witcher 3 in my opinion had a good action based combat that was very challenging.
i came here after watching "Anthem: Finally EXPOSED! + Bioware's Response!". Its sad how Bioware is not the same now.
Exactly.. I'm actually playing this game on nightmare with all traits.. awesome 👍
Ladies what class or play style did you play on dragon inquisition I play two handed
It’s not really BioWares fault. EA ruined them
@Morgoth Bauglir . I want DA4 so much, but at the same time I am worried. And this comes from a guy that enjoyed even DA2.
People have to bitch about everything these days because they're self-entitled douchebags.
*sigh* Yeah I know, it still saddens me.
GrandBerzerker You and me both.

Voice acting is SUPERB in this game! Except for the deep voice female one
I just started a new playthrough with the deep voice female. I like it so far, but maybe it depends on your dialogue choices? This one I am an aggressive, stoic dwarven woman. Although, I am only 3 hours in. Maybe it doesnt maintain the quality
DrasticSkuba I did a full female dwarf playthrough with that voice it’s fine, it’s no better or worse than the other voice options imo
@Lovecraftian Face I played it without DLC and havent played the main DLC yet. You are probably safer waiting to buy the complete edition if you want to be safe. You can wait for a sale. It goes on sale A LOT
This game kicks Skyrims ass. Why did you give it a lower score than Skyrim?
You can't say things like that here. People will find you. But I agree!
Found you. ;) DA is a cartoon for kids (flashy, bling, boom!) and skyrim is fuckin game of thrones, dude.
GrandeJano DA is Lord of the rings, and game of thrones combined into one massive piece of awesome.
Skyrim is just a bunch of little kids dressed up as knights.
Probably cuz skyrim has a first person mode which is cool
mustafa khalid The first person mode is clunky as fuck though. (so is the third person)
Who knows?
He just did Advanced Warfare a week ago....
Shadow of Mordor is gg, buy now
D180 Sorry, I didn't know. And, Thank you very much, I'll check out that review.

It's 2018 and I haven't played any Dragon Age in three years... This video made me realize how much I miss the series. Time to replay Inquisition
Same thing happened to me bout a month ago now I’m addicted to dai again lol
Who else is still waiting for the announcement of DA 4
its coming, I can feel it :D
The wait is killing me... I've been a fan ever since DA 2 and I'm itching for the next chapter.
@@matthewwolfe7138 Well here we are.
lol
We're here from the future to tell you that the dread wolf has returned.
Sera's song at the end was definitely the icing-on-the-cake of the video for me. Best DA: Inquisition song.
Giggy Lapisar I'm talking about Sera's song, not a song Sera sings.
It's not called "Sera's Song" lol it's Sera was Never
The opening was actually pretty funny lol. I liked it.. You did not disappoint Joe.

Just finished the game. It was really enjoyable and quit complex with a lot of interesting characters.
Exactly, it makes no statistical sense at all. I'm all for having some options, absolutely. But like you said, this is too much.
nothing can beat the cast of Dragon age: origin
+krisantus liang well this kind of thing is kinda subjective and cannot be properly measured...
+krisantus liang I honestly respect you for that.
+krisantus liang I miss Allister alot
+krisantus liang WHAT?!?!? NO VARRIC?!?!?! hands down the #1 best character from the series
Teagon Barry varric and fenris were awesome... most of the casts of inquisition were also cool... from iron bull to viviane and cole...
but they all are just a bunch of cool individuals
origin on the other hand has the combinations... relationships that grows between the characters are super memorable
I could care less about gay love in my games. What would really piss me off is when they start to force it on me. I don't want to see that.
Tell me more about how you're forced to have gay sex.
You dick. Its a choice!
I think what he's trying to say is he is not necessarily not ok with gays or lesbians but more of he just doesn't want it for forced upon him/her
***** Nearly every single cutscene in the devil may cry re boot.
no one is forcing you to have a gay relationship. If you are playing games like this and ending up in gay relationships then you have some serious questions to ask yourself
This is why I only trust Joe's reviews. Many people told me this and Fallout 4 sucked, yet Joe got me to try them and I loved them
Fallout 4 sucks especially compared to it's predecessor which was fallout nv. It's not a good rpg, but I guess it's a pretty average open world fps with some good exploration
Justin Collins And to overhype Cyberpunk 2077.
Fallout 4 does suck.
Saaame. This and Fo4 are masterpieces
@@psychobillynumbnuts1 Idk about masterpieces, but yeah their both pretty great.
*****
Seriously?
This is set in a fictional world. For all you know 80% of Thedas is homosexual or bi.
***** myreff.com/b?r=wZQBoBrne
"Thankfully the ai is pretty competent in combat"
HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
No.
Yea
first 40 hours of this game on nightmare is the worst for the AI.
+The Corpulent Panda Then manage it I think that was the whole point
Carbonboy 24 How exactly am I supposed to manage it with 5 "tactic" settings and a horrible tactical cam
My mage always buffed me and only me. You can change their behavior and tactics and manually place them outside of the battlefield. I stayed in the top down view for most battles up until it was the clean up phase.
This game is the proof that having a voiced character is not the problem of the bad dialogue system of fallout 4.
Yeah that's totally true!

Funny how 90% of comments are about being homosexual, heterosexual etc and there own sexual beliefs. Ah, funny how TH-cam is, am I right?
Yup

Don't you know, apparently their the "Majority" because there more heterosexuals than homosexuals.

You know what the problem with the Dragon Age series? They used to market Dragon Age Origins as a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, and now they don't with the sequels. And there's a reason for that. These aren't true RPGs any longer. They are single player go-fetch-furs, grind-the-enemy-to-death MMOs.
well why would they wan't it to continue to be a baulders gate successor, that would just be coasting off past success

Shania Uchiha point i found both systems enjoyable however i do miss origins combat system
Skyrim was the buggest, glitchest game I've ever play, it won GOTY. Plus it had the most anti-climatic ending.

No swimming :( That really bugs me, skyrim had more content and that was last gen. Games should be raising bars, Not lowering them. The witcher is an Open World Action Rpg, which also had the chance to learn from Dragon Ages mistakes.

***** That doesnt matter. READ WHAT I SAID AGAIN! ^^^
Batmanick But if there was a straight sex scene it's not out of place right? I'm just trying to understand your point so please excuse me. You've argued 3 times about gay scenes being implemented but then your say you think any sex scene is unneeded.

"I don't even mind if they were gay but the sex was over the top".
"Every time 2 male aliens or whatever got busy i always just skipped the cutscene because its unnecessary and honestly ruined the game a little bit."
We get it, homosexuality makes you uncomfortable, you can just admit you know. Rather than say you aren't against gays EXCEPT (insert whatever here). Just be honest man.

how did this get a 9? this game sucked so hard. Dragon Age Origins was 9 this game is a 7 at best GTFO.If this game is a 9 the Witcher 3 breaks though at 15 out of 15 because there is no way dragon age comes close to the Witcher 3.

Casemir Solid V It's Joe's opinion, but I agree with you. This game is overrated.
Casemir Solid V Mc SmallCock suck IT
Dionisis Fotopoulos cool story bro
Casemir Solid V "this game sucked so hard. Dragon Age Origins was 9 this game is a 7 at best"
If you think it's overrated, this may be why.
Anyone still playing Dragon age in 2024?
Probably not playing the new one.
After 3 years I got this game, It's still one of the best ever!

It's meh at best. Origins was the only really good one.
@@Andrew-it7fbbruh, it shocks me that people think that it's good
DA:I is like a single-player MMO. Vast, pretty, but largely empty maps held together with dull, repetitive fetch and/or kill quests. The plot was ok, but story elements suffered from being interspersed with too much running around the big empty spaces, and recycling the villain from a DA2 DLC was weird and stupid.
I LOVE THIS GAME IVE DONE 5 PLAYTHROUGHS
help.
+Kate the bear I feel you, I am currently playing my sixth playthrought, this game is addictive.
femtoservants It makes me feel better to know I'm not alone in this world.
Kate the bear Me too, and don't forget to play the tresspasser dlc, the epilogue of the story of Inquisition if you did not already.
+Kate the bear but why? lol. I mean is it worth that many playthroughs? Are branching paths that diverse or you just wanted to play all classes?
Just started playing this, first Dragon Age -game for me, lifelong Mass Effect fanboy, worth game purely because Inquisition used Banshee sound effects from Mass Effect 3 for some of the demons that spawn from rifts, 5/5
I just finished Origins again and I still love it. Best Dragon Age game and one of my top 3 of all time. Don’t miss out on that one. I don’t think we’ll ever see it’s like again.
Origins is the goat.
On top of that, I couldn't help but ask myself constantly if I should just replay Witcher 3 instead lol.
Try just dicking around in one of the zones its hella fun
+Cherry Pauper I think your brief review was more accurate that AJ's
+Cherry Pauper That's how I felt. Origins is one of my favorite games ever. It had an amazing story and was very direct. The world here felt so empty and cold. The quests were AWFUL.
I hope to get it this year also
THOSE ROMANCE DIOLOGS ARE HILARIOUS, SERIOUSLY, THATS GOLD
Explain why Skyrim is better, come om Skyrim without mods is a piece of sht compared with DAI
im surprised it even got a high rating that when the game glitches out
Skyrim:
Larger open world
Better graphics
More interesting side quests
Better storyline
Better soundtrack (though DAI isn't bad)
Better crafting/loot system
NO MOBILE GAMING "GIVE ME MONEY" mechanic
No bolted on horrible multiplayer
Greater variety in the types of combat styles you can use.
*****
Skyrim IS Morrowind with a better visuals, the animations are the same wood log style in both. Oblivion foreva!
