Been using two XR30 pro G4 for a few years on my RSR 525XL... great lights! Also using reeflink with no issues (knock on wood).

Love the way the flat rocks are arranged in that tank (the one with the XR15s)

I've had 2 XR15 G5's over my tank for 2 or 3 months now, I absolutely adore these lights.
Objectively though, I have no personal comparison; it's my first reef tank. So I'm getting spoiled from the onset.

    Hi! Great video.
One question. Your xr15 blue look very white. Are you running about+ or you changed the settings so it looks whiter?

My local fish store has these xr15 over their frag tanks, they cant handle sps at all and they arent that great for LPS either growth wise . They are putting out 110 par DIRECT center, and falling off to 50-60 par only a few inchs from the center of the light.. they are 10 inchs above the water, and we measured 6 inchs down in the water because it was a frag tank. The owners frag tanks are like 8 foot long tanks and he uses 5 of these over them.. I tried to tell him to not get these lights and he wouldnt listen these are not for large frag tanks.. They might be ok in tiny tanks you have them on... but yea. Hes lost 3,000$ in SPS because of them. I even brought over my Acros and gave him like 10 frags and within a week they all lost their color and turned brown.. Even the zoanthids are reaching when they arent placed directly under the light We used a 650$ par meter to check.. For an example. My 4 bulbs of T5's with two coral plus and two blue plus in my 135g tank.. They put out 250 par 8 inchs from water and 5 inchs down and thats 250 par all 72 inchs of the tank 5 inchs down, if i go down all 24 inchs of my tank i then see 120 or so par... LED'S are junk but thats just my opinion.. I love T5's and ATI bulbs last 18 months or so before they drop too much in par.. Hell i have 21 month old Bulbs over one tank and its still keep my Acros PINK and so forth.. If the par dropped too far theyd be turning green or brown. These XR15's 110 par is considered very low light. who in their right mind would spend this kind of money for 110 par? I dont recommend these lights AT ALL.. Who cares if they make corals look cool, if they arent putting out enough light ? I mean they grow mushrooms, and zoanthids fairly well. But all his LPS decline overtime if he doesnt sell them quickly, and he cant keep any sps.. not even the easy ones like pocilipora or the such. His brain corals dont last either like the favias and stuff. The only corals ive seen do well in them are the mushrooms, zoas, plate corals, gonioporas, and a few other lps. The owner even gave me $500 in corals half dead like a green bubble coral and so forth, and they all are recovering in my tank.. I tested his water and it was fine, it also uses the same source my tap comes from as we are only 10 min from eachother.. He uses RODI, i use STRAIGHT TAP as our tap is great where i live... just to give you an idea that it isnt the water.. its the lights.
I mean both of my T5 fixtures, 36x2 and 4 bulbs each fixture to span all 72 inchs of my 135.. That costed ACTUALLY less than 1 XR15.. lol.. and it puts out double the par. This isnt the only local fish store that has issues with LED's. There is another store that uses the older G4's and they too have issues with SPS.. I get great deal buying off browned out acroporas lol and they explode back to full color in my tank with T5's in just a few weeks.

i have a xr15 g5 blue and i thnk to switch to t5 as well ... my wellso was in a bad condition ,, i put the coral in the filtration aquarium, and i use a led who was coming with my first small aquarium evo 5 ,,,and my wellso in just 1 day was in a BETTER shape after 4 days im not able to see the skeleton.. so now i think the led is maybe to strong.. or my wellso dont like light at all ... but is weird because my lfs have same light with higher intensity and all coral look in shape ,, but for sps i think your right .. but im still confused because i hate trying to configure a led..and t5 have nothing to prove t5 work .. and my coral grow is very slow ......

Got the G5 xr30 2x the cracking noise is doing my head in there is a fault with the xr30 G5 blue apparently the bottom dust cover was made in the factory too tight hugging the aluminium heat sink do you have the same crack click noise on the xr15 model

Don’t know if you’ll see this on an older video,but,XR15s or hydra 32? There’s not much price difference here (uk) when you add in the mountings

if you replaced your g4 with g5, being mounted that high do you think you would get the same Par? i ve noticed the par drops off a lot more the higher it is mounted because its primarily designed for even light spread.

dam i have the same light ,, soft/lps setting i turn down red and off green .. and my aquarium look so dark blue .. im curious about your setting can you share ? the only way to have something similar is to put shedule time to 70 % but ecotech recommandation is between 30 and 50 %. and my intensity is at 100%...

  • @laurelsherman811

Does this video show the true colors of the lights? I've watched so many videos on these lights trying to decide if I should get the blue or the pro. Every one is using filters on their cameras and it's making the process more confusing. Between the two which one enhances not only the fluorescents of the coral but also brings out the reds and pinks?
