- Let's upgrade some LEDs! In today's video, Thomas from BRStv is flying to Florida to meet with Josh Earel from World Wide Corals to chat about upgrading their G4 EcoTech Marine Radions to the new G6 LED fixtures on their 1,500 gallon reef tank. We're covering it all from changes in shadowing to coral coloration. You can expect a lot after upgrading your tank from the previous generation of Radion reef tank LEDs and you can find all of that here!

Yeah.. Lets be honest here they only changed those cause they most likely got them for free. It's a great marketing from BRS :) I love my gen 5s but I don't see any reason to upgrade them
I'm sure they would have loved to get them for free! There are a LOT of Radions on that display tank!
So does this mean their radion Template on their website will change ? Or did they change it already?
I'm not sure what they have hosted on their site, but if you contact them, they can probably tell you if it's their newest version or not 🙂
Hey, I will be setting up a 60x26x24 (LxWxH) inch 160 gallon tank, so I was wondering how many Xr15 G6’s will I need for a mixed reef tank and how many will I need for a sps dominated tank. Please let me know how many I will need for both of these types of tanks separately. Thank you in advance!
Go with 3 for a mixed reef or 4 for an SPS dominated system 👍

I just got 3 xr15 g6 for my 5ft tank, seemed overkill to go for 2x xr30 from my research, but have not fitted them yet

I have a 72X26X24 mixed reef tank and have old G3 Pros. How would you design the lighting for this size tank? How do you decide between XR15s and XR30s?
I am curious about how this will turn out. I personally think Ecotech made a mistake changing the layout from the G4.
Looking forward to revisiting this with WWC down the road to see what they think more long term 🙂
Oh to add, the lights aren't more efficient because you're running the G6 at 60% and you were running the G4 at 100%. You're running the G6 at 60% because that fixture has 100 leds and the G4 only had 46 leds.
So are they using Gen 6 Blues or Pros?
