    Completely bought the blueberry model for the few seconds it was on screen. The difference between an amateur and a paid professional is knowing what's good enough and when to stop. It's also nice to see a useful video done well that DOESNT use geometry nodes. Gaaa. Everything is a geometry node tutorial now.

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Thanks! I’d wanted to push the blueberries further and wouldn’t use this for production but I’m glad it held up for a few seconds. Sometimes it works and that buys time to do other shots lol.
      Yeah, geometry nodes… they change so often haha.

    Thank you for being a human that likes to make things. I'm all for photoscans where useful, but I have no interest in learning art from people who don't like to do art in the program they're supposedly teaching. This was a breath of fresh air

      I mean, at one point that was 100% true. Blender hasn't always been as sophisticated as it is these days. It was literally the butt of the joke for almost 20 years. It's only in the past few years that it has really caught up to the rest of the industry, and started truly competing with the exorbitantly profitable industry standards

    Hot Take
    But Everyone who says "Blender can't do X"
    1. has either really big Plans no 3D Program or modern Day Technology can do
    2. is a 3DsMax / Maya Soyboy
    3. is making Excuses
    Pretty much everything can be done in Blender these Days
    Even for the Things Blender can't do so well, like Texture Painting, there are Workarounds that can make it a Powerful Tool for Texture Painting - It's just not going to be a pleasant Experience ...

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ll add:
      1. In over 20 years of production experience, “big plans” checks out. Agreed.
      2. Those applications have lots of legacy pipeline integration, and Maya still beats almost everything for character work, though Blender is gaining quickly, luckily. *Aside: “Soyboy” is a term coined by little internet scumbags who’s spelling is close to intel, or whom sell courses to them. Fanboy is better lol, though pipelines…
      3. In over 20 years working in production, I’d never seen excuses (luckily) by those with jobs. Most use the tools the project demands. Blender is free so it usually goes the other way (based on interviews I’d conducted at work) but yeah… people like what they are comfortable with.
      That said, Blender is pretty awesome and getting better all the time.

    • @sutaffuru6989
      @sutaffuru6989 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@KevBinge Haha tru that
      Sorry for using the Term "Soyboy" my Friends got me used to that bad Habit - I'll be thinking about it next Time
      But yeah I'm pretty much tired of them spawning under some Blender Videos or News Portals and looking down on us simply for the Fact that we use Blender
      and are Happy about how much it has grown over the past few Years
      It's no Secret that Blender will need more Time to even reach up to the big Players of the Industry
      and as someone who is working with Industry Standards from Time to Time myself, I have to say I appreciate them despite some of the Twerks they have
      But that's said, if I have the Choice and my current Project does not demand me to use ZBrush for Example, I'd do it in Blender
      Blender is just so much more welcoming and makes me feel like Home
      ZBrush has many awesome Tools, but I can't deny I hold a Hate / Love Relationship to it
      Blender is good enough for many Things and will do many Tasks just fine and at this Point it became really powerful, just gotta know how to utilise that Power
      It's not that much different from the Big Players anymore

    blender actually CANT make food ads... not because blender is incapable, but because food ads are legally required to be practical (with the intent of not being misleading...)

      Only if it’s the actual product, at least in the US. This is a glass of blueberries and is indicative of a product but not the product itself. You’d be correct though if they were selling an actual glass of blueberries and the image was fake. …Kind of reminds me of the scene with Michael Douglass in “Falling Down” in that fast food restaurant lol.

    Who said it can't thou? 🤔 Blender can do pretty much everything. It just takes alot more effort. Like almost 4 times the effort to achieve certain things. Which I personally don't enjoy so I prefer to use a software that makes it easy to achieve the results I want effortlessly and blender isn't always the best option for that.

    • @KevBinge
      @KevBinge  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The answer is on screen as the video starts 😀. That said, I tend to agree. I use Houdini at work, and used Maya for a solid decade before that. Blender is great as it’s free but yeah, for lots of things, it certainly does take way more effort, and time is money unless it’s a hobby.
