@@hardwire666too works, but results in an Ngon instead of clean topology - so bending and twisting the grass blades could look bad then. But the knife tool works great at taking the grass and making a cut lawn version!
This was WAY better than using Hair Particle system for making Grass. I never thought it would be so simple, just simple extrude, change the hue and BOOOM. Great work. hahah
One of the best easy nature tutorials... Not new.. But a new way of doing it still.. Makes it easier and quick to have simple nature assets either as background element for product shot scenes or for anything else... Really cool
Damn, very straight forward, pedagogic, easy, realistic and very high quality tutorial. I wasn't even looking for this ! (For once TH-cam algorythm works well) and i don't even use blender, just C4D. But this is the perfect workflow to adapt. Really cool video !
super cool, just this week i feel like i've grown in understanding of blender enough to actually understand everything you did here. This is a great project I definitely will try because it is just advanced enough that i will learn from it, but not too advanced that i will get frustrated and fail at lol!
Another great tutorial, CGG! I used it to scatter scraggly, yellow/green grass in a desert setting, and the scene "popped!" Now I've got to work out the sagebrush, cactus and tumbleweeds! 🤠
also.. i have been looking for this video for such a long time i wanted to know how to create nature cuz i had ideas but no tools and gscatter is gonna be so helpful :D thank u!! thas why u're always epic!
I'm intermediate in my modeling skills and still haven't made a tree or a patch of grass because I didn't know where to even start. So, thank you for making this!
Been a long time since I have watched blender videos, used to be obsessed with your videos, but couldn't remember your name so I straight up searched blender grass and your channel popped up, no kidding
I too had used gscatter but for the plants instead of modelling them i used a free plant library by the people at geo scatter(not g scatter )Setting up both the addons is a bit challenging but once you are done. You have a variety of different biomes to chose from
@@naamar.r Like too much work 4 you ? or yo saying that the creator of this vid puted so much work to his project ??? ( its not hate or smth , im just asking )
life hack: Install the addon images to planes. add in loop cuts (control R), and use knife tool (k) to trace the shape of the strand. It's a faster way to make the strand models and gets them textured directly. It's also a good idea to bunch the strand images together into a single texture to save video ram.
to optimise this you really should be heading into a photo editing software, aligning all of these grass blades together on one 1028x1028 canvas, just by cropping out the useless white background. you can then have all the UV's within 1 grid, 1 texture and saving you a hell of a lot of texture space.
Hey running into small problem with the grass extending outside of the plane mesh causing for some messy floating clovers in my planter boxes. Any idea what might be causing the issue? Your video the grass all stays within the square plane mesh.
Good tutorial. But in nature every grass mesh will have different color hue ,saturation and brightness wich you can randomize by object id node to get same result .So your grass will be more realistic by this way and not so flatish green carpet ))) Just search some tutorial "How to randomize mesh color of multiple object by object info"
I hope that wasn't Scotts/Monsanto grass, as I'm sure they have it's likeness patented/trademarked/copyrighted. ;) This was the best 7-minutes I've ever spent watching grass grow. :) Now, to model a lawn mower and weed whacker!
Amazing tutorial and execution. Very clear even for a newbie like me. I was just asking myself if there is a way to animate the grass that it blows in the wind? Do the normal physics like "force field" work with the grass if it is made that way?
Great tutorial, I'm still learning blender (Almost done with the Blender Guru Donut tutorial) and I thought my first project post donut would be to make a hedge maze in blender and this will help me a lot on the grass floor. Still looking for a good way to make hedges though since I can't afford a asset pack
hope everyone has a blast creating 3d nature! and if u pick up my nature essentials assets I'll luv u forever 💚
Also decent shortcut for some of this is to use import image as planes and just use the knife tool.

@@CGGeek This is true unless you pay attention to how you slice it up only creating quads.

Best looking grass I've seen in Blender!
I do want to note that I don't think a branch is usually the same length as a blade of grass 😅
more like twigs in this scene 😅
The way the sponsoring was inserted in this was genius
Thank you very much man. There’s people who can’t afford premium courses like yours, so giving this for free is just gold for us. Thanks again!
I get that! Was definitely there early in my career as well :)

simple but looks really great! thanks for demonstrating your workflow:)
This officially killed any particle system approach to this in the future, thank you so much!
Straight forward and easy to understand for a person who doesn't use blender, like bruh I don't have any work in that .

Stuff like this makes me remember why I went into cgi. Love this grass! You have a very fun and chill way of explaining this stuff as well.
Cool stuff. I've been doing this in 3ds Max for years. It's a life saver.
Thanks!

I love it when you do this tutorials. I still have the one you made aeons ago about creating nature from pictures. Very good...
Fantastic video mate. Loving these little practical vids showing exactly how to get this stuff going

I am exhausted just watching you build that... I'll have to buy it, I think. Save myself a lot of time and effort :)
