As a 3D student - I can say that you have done an amazing job!!! I'd love to make a project where something transforms as well - Congratz again - This is really nice!
The video is both interesting and entertaining. The way you've displayed the "building" process truly shows your skill and creativity as a content creator. It's fascinating to witness the transformation of the pawn into a queen, and your attention to detail throughout the process is commendable. Keep up the great work! Btw. The black ones look pretty cool, but I still prefer the white ones.
As a chess player myself, who have made thousands pawn-queen promotions at the bottom of enemy lines, your work into this project is both beautiful and magic 😊😮 Keep up the good work mate!
The cleanest way to do this problem is with the vertices: 1) Each vertex on the pawn maps to a vertex on the queen (you might have to assign them by hand, but since these models are homeomorphic, you can automate it- but automating the assignment isn’t something I know how to do yet). 2) Once each vertex on the pawn is mapped to a vertex on the queen, interpolate: lets say your transition has N = 60 frames, then each vertex on the pawn will shift towards its corresponding queen position by a factor of 1/60 (linear interpolation). (The animation might look cooler if you do a non-linear interpolation, which is just as easy to determine). 3) Reconstruct the mesh with the new vertex values. Ideally, none of the faces do anything unexpected. And v’aula. perfectly animated. This process will work for any of the chess pieces- as well as any object that has 0 holes (G0 manifolds)
The pawn could simply wear a tight-fitting rubber suit which, when inflated, has the shape of a queen. Yup, a rubber suit sounds kinky, but it fits the fact that the homeomorphic transformation also also a homo-morphic transfaormation. After all, the pawn becomes the "mistress" of the king.
“So a queen is of course a girl right? At least in ancient times and pawns can turn into a queen so all pawns must be girls too and pawn can turn into any piece except the king that means all the pieces beside the king is a girl so basically, Chess is a harem war between 2 sides, and then you steal each harem member one by one, like NTR This is why Chess is hot” -random picture in my camera roll
This gives me an idea for a chess variant where every single pawn can transform like this, but only into the piece that it started in front of: Queen's pawn can only promote to queen, rooks pawn to rook, etc. Kings pawn promotes to queen as well. You would have to mark the pieces so they could be set up properly or it could be random so you actually do not know what a pawn will promote to until it promotes.
but basically in most of the cases people just get a queen... but if was a lot of work in just queen. The other pieces we can imagine Bishop would be same process.. but Knight and tower I know it'll be really intriguing how this would change
My god, can you imagine the pawn's internal mechanisms being built so that not only does it have the components to turn into a queen but OTHER PIECES ASWELL. NAAH THAT BE COOL AF. Literal iron man transforming pawn lol

Dude, i love blender and have tons of project ideas, but i try to stay away from hyper-photo-realism, but what you were able to do here is crazy, and then even integreting it into and irl shot? You madman. I could never lol, this is so cool.
This needs to be in a movie within the next 10 years.
it already is, transformers.
you mean in real life
CHESS : RISE OF THE TRANSFORMING PIECES
Transformers but instead of transforming into cars, it's chess peices
some sci-fi movie where they play chess in a random scene
fantastic design, if it were a product i would definitely buy it. so intrigued on the design process and the mechanical components in each section of the pawn/queen!
So much work put into such a short animation it looks absolutely amazing respect
That looks like something out of Portal/Portal 2, with all the moving panels. Good work.
Bro! That's literally what I thought when I saw the short of the pawn turning into the queen!
@@Pixels... I imagine GLADOS would play chess in her free time. All she needs is someone to play with.

Anyone but Wheatly
0:06 We can choose freely! NOT ONLY A QUEEN, that's the rule!!!
I want to be a rook!
And I want to be a fortress!
now you need to make this irl. it would be extremely difficult but awesome to see
Chess: 2077
lol, tru...
I think such transformations wolud be created in 30s of our century
It would be more advanced
One of the most well made TH-cam videos I have ever seen
As a 3D student - I can say that you have done an amazing job!!! I'd love to make a project where something transforms as well -
Congratz again - This is really nice!
6:30 so epic, I really enjoy how you put so much effort in this video. Great job!
He stole the music though.
Glad her transition went well
Definitely a contender for video of the year. It hits all the spots just right.
Interesting, fun and insanely, needlessly complicated 👍
The video is both interesting and entertaining. The way you've displayed the "building" process truly shows your skill and creativity as a content creator. It's fascinating to witness the transformation of the pawn into a queen, and your attention to detail throughout the process is commendable. Keep up the great work!
Btw. The black ones look pretty cool, but I still prefer the white ones.
As a chess player myself, who have made thousands pawn-queen promotions at the bottom of enemy lines, your work into this project is both beautiful and magic 😊😮
Keep up the good work mate!
This i without doubt the coolest thing I have watched in months. This is pure genius.
The transition is crazy!! I love the mechanical element to it, what an awesome idea, excecuted perfectly 🔥
Take my subscription 😲😲
12:20 Love that you used the Transformers sound effect here!
That was INCREDIBLE! I got goosebumps watching the final animation! Well done!

Lol
Imagine being so rich that you use pawns that automatically turn into queens
The cleanest way to do this problem is with the vertices:
1) Each vertex on the pawn maps to a vertex on the queen (you might have to assign them by hand, but since these models are homeomorphic, you can automate it- but automating the assignment isn’t something I know how to do yet).
No morphing
Easier? Yes. Completely missing the point of the project and the subsequent video? Entirely
Bro did *not* watch the video
The pawn could simply wear a tight-fitting rubber suit which, when inflated, has the shape of a queen.
Yup, a rubber suit sounds kinky, but it fits the fact that the homeomorphic transformation also also a homo-morphic transfaormation. After all, the pawn becomes the "mistress" of the king.
What if the pawn underpromotes? Now make it a knight, bishop and a rook. Make it a series now😂😂 Would love to see it!
Sounds like a knightmare to make.
(I guess bishop only would be pretty easy)
This is rediculously amazing
“So a queen is of course a girl right? At least in ancient times
and pawns can turn into a queen so all pawns must be girls too
and pawn can turn into any piece except the king that means all the pieces beside the king is a girl
so basically, Chess is a harem war between 2 sides, and then you steal each harem member one by one, like NTR
This is why Chess is hot” -random picture in my camera roll
This is so good that it actually feels like CGI with these sound effects
good job bro
cause it is cgi lol nobody made that in an actual pawn you doofus
This is CGI, it's a computer generated image
1:05 he needed so much of his gpu for blender his gpu fan didn't spin even once
i love that side monitor😍
Annnnnnd someone made it irl
Congratulations! Over 2 million views! We are rooting for you; please keep up!
*I finally did it. My transformation is complete!*
Jokes aside, to any Trans guys and Gals watching, stay safe and happy transitions y'all. ❤
genuinely made my day
Wow, glad to see her transition from Pawn-to-Queen went so well! Modern medicine truly is amazing :D
Very good, amazing work, majestic piece of art, absolutely fantastic!
Now make a pawn that can actually turn into a knight.

OPTIMUS PRIME O O A A A A A A
**waiting for it to become real**
This gives me an idea for a chess variant where every single pawn can transform like this, but only into the piece that it started in front of: Queen's pawn can only promote to queen, rooks pawn to rook, etc. Kings pawn promotes to queen as well. You would have to mark the pieces so they could be set up properly or it could be random so you actually do not know what a pawn will promote to until it promotes.
Video starts at 12:02
you know, the pawn can transform into more than just a queen
but basically in most of the cases people just get a queen... but if was a lot of work in just queen.
The other pieces we can imagine Bishop would be same process.. but Knight and tower I know it'll be really intriguing how this would change
the only other thing you would want other than the queen is the knight
My god, can you imagine the pawn's internal mechanisms being built so that not only does it have the components to turn into a queen but OTHER PIECES ASWELL. NAAH THAT BE COOL AF.
Literal iron man transforming pawn lol
You know, he shows that 10 seconds into the video
@@johannjomy8764 The only time you'd need a knight either is in chess puzzles, and there, you are wrong. This one is a particularly extreme example: th-cam.com/video/EHjimUZF1iI/w-d-xo.html
A video full of information with experience in performance and art. . I really enjoyed watching the video.
It is worth following and supporting. It made me interested in 3D design .
You are a legend and made me really say " this is what the internet is for " .
Good luck in the future ♥️
You should send this to HackSmith so they can make a real one
