how is this channel so underrated? this is like Bob Ross of guitar playing!
Thanks dude! Please help spread the word!🤘
I completely agree! In my opinion this channel is at the very top. The simplicity, the quality, and most definitely Rob’s focus and teaching ability! So straightforward with no unnecessary excess. He’s just a pure natural at this, that about sums it up.
@@petepetrich7828 🙏Cheers my man!👊
0.00 - 00.13 - that could be a great intro for new chimaira song...
Nah he's been playing gojira 🤔
Agreed 👍
It's a lot like the first track's chorus off of their last album, The Machine.
Imagine.....he's actually working on a new song for chimaira.
He said last year they were going to sit down and do a new album before covid hit
Rob! Your solo from Lazarus still gives me the chills everytime I hear it! It's my all time favorite!
🙏
Every self titled album guitar solo are proofs why I have Rob as one of my favourite composers
@@kostas2419 👊
Yeeessssss bro!!!!!! I absolutely love Rob’s intro riff to that song when it finally kicks in. Nice taste.
Djent kids could definitely learn alot from simplicity like this. The last bars on C are killer.
Djent is the mumble rap of metal
Just found this channel and I must say it’s impossible to not like this dude. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
👊😎 Thanks for tuning in!
Keep it up my man. You’ve got invaluable knowledge and the metal world needs to know. I appreciate everything you’ve done and continue to do, Rob 🤘🏻🤘🏻
🙏👊🙏
This is a GREAT warmup for playing gigs! Gonna be sat playing this over and over before going onstage haha
🤘
Insane exercise!!
Amazing work Rob, thanks!
Awesome, this is a great resource. Thanks man!
Cool! I’ll definitely use that!!! Thank you sir!
Thanks Rob!!
Thanks for another stellar video.
Wooo i am going way back 🤘
Awesome video Rob, Thanks!
Thank you, Rob.
Thank you Rob.
Great video, Rob! Very fun to play along with!
Rob, I’ve been watching a bunch of your videos lately. I’ve been playing for about 20 years. I’m still a beginner. I never properly learned how to play. I just memorized the tabs I loved to play and went from there. Lately, I’ve been having trouble trying to play along to songs I don’t know very well. I tried this exercise today and loved it!
Super happy to hear that man! 🤘🎸
That's like exactly what I started doing when I started to learn double kick, great vid as usual Rob!
thank you Rob Arnold from Russia, very useful tutorial
Glad to hear it bro! 🤘
A great lesson , \m/
Bet this would sound killer on a cello. Thanks for this exercise. 🤘😀
Thank you very much for sharing this exercice Rob!!!
Thanks for watching bro!
Another great vid Rob!!

Fantastic video Rob! Thanks for all you do. Time to go and practice now🤘
My pleasure man! Rock on!🎸
Killer warmup! Going to do this all the time now!
Awesome!
Been warming up with this everyday for the last few weeks. Thanks Rob!
Awesome Shea! Glad to hear it!🎸
Tons of good tips here, I can’t wait to try them.
Right on!🎸
You are such a cool dude! Thanks for this lesson.
My man👊
Thank you so much for this little lesson Rob, kick ass as always dude! 🤘🤘🤘
🤘😎🎸
this would be a killer breakdown
Yeah! Some other dudes mentioned that it reminds them of parts from Six, Eyes of a Criminal, and Resurrection! So we've implemented it all over the place in various forms!
Gotta say this exercise has really helped me as bassist. Yeah I use a plectrum lol. Ntm I'm a rhythm guitarist as a second instrument. This really helps especially in Heavy Metal and Real Hardcore where the right hand technique is a huge part of the game.
Hell yeah man!🤘
Now THIS is a great lesson!!
This is also what that AUX IN input on your practice amp is for 👍
Thanks so much Rob!
Especially for the backing tracks!
Awesome Brandon! And great tip on the AUX IN idea!🎸
I’d love to hear you’re thoughts on, and approach to Music theory and improv for soloing
This is awesome! This is the first thing I do when sitting down to practice! Keep em comin bro! Haha very useful
Glad to hear it Mike!🎸
lol this was the first lesson u showed me years ago!!! It has worked for me very well!!! TY … CHEERS
Awesome! 🤘
Absolute genius. Firstly your tone is my favorite tone out there. Period. I'm saving up for a 6505. This is a great exercise and what an awesome way to drive daily traffic back here, every single day. I know I'll be back daily.
Haha hell yeah Kevin!🤘🙏🎸
@@RobArnoldWorld I'm also saving back to get your DVD. I'm in the process of moving. You know how expensive that can get.
Speaking of Andols, I hope he's doing well. Damn, that guy is one of a kind and a master of his craft. The stuff he just creates is out of this world. I wish he got more recognition and I could find more TH-cam of him. He's just incredible. I really appreciate your channel Rob. Thanks for all you give us fans.
It's worth it man I got a 6505+ with a 2x12 Mesa cab and it slapppps.
@@borges3099 yeah I have a 6505+ with a 90s peavey 5150 4x12

It's Sunday morning and apparently got some work to do. Thanks Rob!! My arthritis thanks you too...meh, fuck the arthritis. This exercise rips!!!

I really appreciate these videos. They are really helpful. There are quite a few of your guitar tutorial/ exercises/ tips and tricks style videos that have massively impacted my playing. You have an approach to guitar that just makes sense to me. Cheers for sharing your knowledge and approach to guitar. I'm enjoying banging out chimaira riffs at the moment that's for sure.
Super happy to hear that man!🙏 Glad to help, cheers, and thanks for tuning in!🎸
hahaha now that was a killer "riff",actually :) And you are deffo right...good practice for drummers also.Good video man.Hope you are doing goodi goodi.Cheers,Stefan :)
Awesome Stef! Yeah man, give it a go!🥁
Been practicing this almost everyday for a month, my timing has improved a lot!
Fantastic! Happy to hear it!🎸
A bit late to the party, but great exercise nevertheless. Very helpful to approach your right hand with speed-bursts like this one. You could also do a video on the challenges you had to overcome. And how you did it. Like relaxation, pick angle, upstrokes etc. Everything that screws most people up at some point in time.
this is a fantastic exercise thats really challenging my to think as i play! I keep instinctivly going back to downpicking on the "A" pattern, too many years following Hetfield! haha
I hear ya! And I'd say it's ok to downpick the A section if you like!
Oh my god, I really remembered practicing the technique of my picking hand under the metronome for hours on end. I somehow intuitively did it in a similar way - I also used the alternation of frequency picking amplitudes for different time signatures. And it worked perfectly! For fun, I just tried this exercise on my seven-string guitar in Drop A tuning. All clear - from first note to the last! Wonderful exercises! Thank you, Rob, you made my day!
Awesome Dexx!
I wish there was a bass guitar version of your channel dude, I'm gonna use this practice exercise on bass.
😎👌
Right on! It will apply nicely!🤘
Look up Rod McG ....and this works on bass 100%
Very good lesson there Rob. Not only will this help beginners, but also how to warm up your right hand first and then your left hand. Plus timing, picking and finger workout. Gives new players a good start. You can play this on all of the strings. Cheers for another great video Rob and thank you. \m/
Well said Darren! Thanks for watching!🤘
@@RobArnoldWorld Your welcome Rob. See ya next weekend and have a nice week. I hope that the weather is good with you. As it's been a very warm weekend here with me.
@@619dar, I’ve been playing way too long to be as terrible as I am. This will help me immensely. So yea I definitely agree with ya. Cheers🤘
That's dope 🤘🏼
a good song to practice would be left for dead. that intro has some crazy picking
Hi Rob, make please video how to expose microphone, and your settings mics on the cabinet.
Check this out! 👉 th-cam.com/video/uFP-NxjirT0/w-d-xo.html
Hi Rob. Great routine! I use it as a warm-up every session. I noticed the change in your picking technique on the higher tempo 16th notes - it's like a chop through the string. Just wondering if you could do some kind of technique breakdown for it? A similar routine for gallops would also be sweet! Thanks!
Thanks dude! Have you seen this one? th-cam.com/video/iC7jgOOxxck/w-d-xo.html
Good sh*t man. I find the 1/8 triplet the hardest. First time i noticed was Rivers of nihil playthrough soil and seed does that. It's hard to nail!
Keep it up!💪🎸
Good exercise, can’t wait for the left hand stuff! 😂 nevermind, if i had waited like 10 more seconds, i would have seen it. Right on
Hey Rob, any chance you could do a video on your right hand picking technique? I always find i have tension in my right hand/arm when playing fast, and i also struggle to maintain consistent 1/16th note picking without spending a tonne of energy, but your hand looks to do it so smoothly and effortlessly!
I would also like to see this
Chimaira (Rob :) ) style now doubt
That last one is really good for both hands
Hey Rob ! ive been thrashing this practise for the last 3 weeks and even have my own variations now, Thanks so much ! Did you have any ideas for another improve your playing video ?

I've been doing this for the last couple of days. I just got the non advanced 150bpm down.
Advanced at 180bpm is something! 🔥 Let's see when I'll get there
Hell yeah! 💪🎸
Advanced 150bpm nice and clean now 👌🏻
Practice makes perfect! 🙌@@miyaaaaw
Thanks for the great video buddy! Always full of helpful tips!! I have a quick question, when I play my fingers sweat a lot, no matter what time of year. It makes the pick move position and sometimes loose the pick completely. Iv tried grip picks, different sizes, a fan, washing my hands, but nothing works did you ever experience this problem? And if so how did you deal with it
Cool Scotty! unfortunately I don't have any tips concerning your issue. I would have suggested all the things you've tried. Maybe try a little chalk? Like gymnasts or weight lifters use?🤷🏻♂️
@@RobArnoldWorld maybe could try that pal! It’s really annoying, half way through a solid performance and the pick starts moving is no good for anyone lol I’m constantly readjusting it
Another swell video beloved Rob. I have a couple volume related questions for you regarding practicing guitar as well as vocals. When you are at home simply noodling around on the axe, are you generally at a "bedroom" volume, or are you playing rather loud? I am at a point in my life where I want to jam, however with three babies at home, I don't want to wake them when it's my time to shred! Any suggestions for a killer software or amp that will allow for bedroom volume but still sound nasty? Additionally, are studio monitors the way to go to play said software through, or will regular computer speakers work?
When it comes to vocals, are vocalists actually "screaming" or is it purely an effect that can be gutturally vocalized in a reasonable volume without scaring anyone??? Thanks in advance for your help, and I look forward to the next one!
Yo man! When I'm just jamming at home, I'm always at a bedroom volume. Now if there were three babies in the room next to me, I'd probably have to tone it down even further, so I feel what you're saying. I think there are many cool little combo amps out there with a headphone jack, and that may be your best bet. A great set of headphones can sound fantastic, and might be a good choice for jamming on your computer with software too. But if headphones aren't your gig, then I'd still go the practice amp route. And with software stuff, I think your computer speakers are fine to start out with, and then you can eventually move to studio monitors. Before getting professional monitors, I started out with a setup from a company called Klipsch. It's two speakers and a sub, and they sound great. They hook right up to your computer from the headphone jack. Walmart has it right now for a hundred bucks. I've also seen them at Costco. They'd be a great system to get started on! Cheers and good luck!
www.walmart.com/ip/Klipsch-Pro-Media-2-1-THX-Computer-Speakers-Two-Way-Satellites-3-Midbass-Drivers-and-6-5-Subwoofer/591789309?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1529&&adid=22222222227368626815&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=462998481795&wl4=aud-430887228898:pla-951981918685&wl5=9015347&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=112549830&wl11=online&wl12=591789309&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6NmHBhD2ARIsAI3hrM31CeCTNffzRRNbsAYcbqDkuPQ7VNlGmTs9LNn1b8ShaEyfvWxN7k4aAnvvEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
F in cool rob
Really liking this routine now that I've finally actually started it. My guitar tone sounds so much better with the drum tracks, hehe! My question is, how long would you recommend doing this everyday? Is it a "whatever we're comfortable with" type deal or a "go beyond our comfort zone" thing? Thank you for all your help and the inspiration to keep playing!
Great to hear! Well man, I would just try and get better and better at it every day! Start slow, make sure it sounds great, then work your way up. As the old saying goes, practice makes perfect!🎸
@@RobArnoldWorld Sounds like a plan! Thanks again!
@4:28 this may sound a bit weird but you guys should actually put that part into a song, sounds really good, imo.
Seems fitting right?🤘😉

Patern A B A C....just add another A B B and you’ve unlocked the blood code😂 Finish Him!
Drop c is my favorite tuning because of the impossibility of reason, Rob How did you discover this awesome drop tuning?
Mark Hunter said that we should use it because Machine Head used it, and it was an "evil sounding" tuning!
@@RobArnoldWorld smart man! What do you think of the 3 new songs they just put out? I’ve mentioned it before but seeing you guys kill it with Machine Head in Norfolk on the Impossibly/Ashes tour was life changing
@@twwells Nice! Always LOVED coming to the Norva! I haven't checked out the new MH stuff.
@@RobArnoldWorld React channels are pretty dime a dozen but you should definitely check those three songs out, easily the best stuff Robb has released since Unto the Locust
Bassists too !
That's right!🎸
Trust rob to make a picking exercise into a heavy intro 🤣
🤘😝
Even more advanced version: play the 0-1-2-3-4 with fast triplets so the first note shifts on each bar.
I have a question. I find that when recording I am able to keep in time with the drums but not when the metronome is running. Is this normal for some guitar players? Take care.
Playing to a metronome takes a lot of practice believe it or not. I've been involved in a handful of situations where a drummer is great, but because he never practiced to a click, when required to for a recording, he simply fell apart. The same goes for guitarists and bassists without a doubt. If you can commit some practice time to playing to a click, after a while, it will become easier, and almost second nature. Just give it some time! Cheers
@@RobArnoldWorld Thank you for the information. I will commit some practice time to a click track to improve my accuracy.
I like doing Pattern A with downpicking for a greater challenge ;)
Nice! Sounds like a great workout!💪
