The hardest part id deciding which plugins you really want because the options are endless. Best sim video you've ever done Rob. I few points that I liked about this video are just loved the drum sim. It mades things so much earlier when you have an idea for a riff. The riff that you put together really suited the drum sound and the bass tone was sick. Maybe the bass could of been tunrned up a bit to match the guitar. So please keep on making more video's like this. Really enjoyed watching this Rob.

    Also, protools does a cool thing now where you drag and audio clip to an instrument/midi track, itll convert the clip into midi notes. Its a little squirrelly but can be useful for making midi bass or string parts, etc. But i think it only works if you already have melodyne installed.

    Sometimes to add what I call "fake bass" I will record a track(no distortion or effects)on guitar, I just play it like it's a bass, and then use my DAW to drop the pitch a full octave. A little eq tweaking(removing some mids and highs) and it actually doesn't sound too bad for an improvised bass track.

      The amplification stage has a very Neural DSP/Darkglass vibe.
      It's very modern sounding, but it's easy enough to use the DI and pair it with an Ampeg plugin of some sort if you're looking for a more traditional metal bass tone.

    Got a Question for you. I like your Riffs and everything from Chimaira.
    So i was wondering if you care about what Key you are in when you are creating Riffs?
    Or are you creating more or less just something and look afterwards what/where the lead guitar could fit in?
    Because, i think when you want to create some lead Stuff for it i think its necessary to know what would fit for it.
    I am not sure if i would limit myself with this kind of mindset. Because i think - maybe i am wrong - for this type of metal its not absolutely necessary to have a real key.

    • @RobArnoldWorld
      @RobArnoldWorld  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think that heavy metal is a byproduct of punk rock, and the punk rock mentality... Rebellious, unhinged, no rules, etc.
      Guys with zero skill, but loads of energy, attitude, and character, can be successful. Therefor, for me personally, I just play what sounds good (to me). I have no formal training in theory or anything like that. If I think about a riff or songs key, I simply associate it with whatever tuning I'm in. So if I'm in drop C, and most heavy metal riffing is based around chugging on the open low string, I know that the key of that riff is C.
      I do think changing keys is very important in great song writing, but again, when I'm writing, I'm thinking more about what sounds good, and not at all about theory.
      I hope that answers your question!🤘
